I am from out of town but needed new glasses and went here while I was in town. I paid $1,000 for an eye exam and new glasses here in May. I called a week after I got them and told them the reading portion was not strong enough but that I would not be back in town until the fall. They have the call documented. I just went to have the reading portion re-done and since it has been 90 days (never mentioned in first call) they want to re-charge me the full $1,000 to fix them. They did the eye exam incorrectly and I am expected to eat the cost beyond having classes that were useless all summer! I always try to support local businesses rather than large chain stores when I can but in this case it was an expensive mistake! read more

Dr. Shini did a long and careful eye exam. I have astigmatism and cataracts. He showed me images of my eyes and clearly explained my condition. He took time to get me the right lens correction (other docs have sometimes rushed this and I ended up with lens that weren't quite right). I would definitely recommend this place to you all. I firstly visited A&M school health center after my right eye gets infected, but my right eye still feels pain and is sensitive to light. Then the school doctor refers me to an eye specialist in Eye Trends. The place is nice. The doctor and the staff here are friendly and polite, they give me a professional check and well explain my pathogen. And my school insurance covers most of the fee, it is affordable. read more

My husband and I drive two hours to come and see Dr. Shini. He is the most thorough optometrist I have ever seen. He is kind and very considerate and has always treated us with the utmost kindness and respect. His office staff are super helpful and competent and they will not sell you things that you do not need. No price gouging, and I appreciate that. They have a great selection of frames and other eye care products. My hubby and I get both regular glasses, and sunglasses from Eye Trends. My husband also buys his safety glasses there as well. He is devoted to his patients and extremely well respected throughout the eye medical care community in Bryan/College Station. Previously, I went to one of those eye care clinics where you are on an assembly line, sit here, wait over there, go to this room, now this room, pay, and then out you go... whew! I'm sure that's an efficient way of processing a lot of patients but I much prefer the environment at Dr. Shini's eye clinic. It is much more relaxed. This place is great. It took me about 2 weeks to get an appointment but that is the case about anywhere in BCS. I sign in wait a minute or two, see the doctor within 5 minutes and am out the door in 20. Instead of asking me what I wanted to order they told me what the insurance would pay and what my out of pocket costs would be with which packages. Very helpful and friendly. read more

Dr. Shini and his staff are really amazing. I moved to College Station from Washington DC where I had a long-standing relationship with my Optometrist. I have found the perfect replacement, conveniently located in the Kroger shopping center at Rock Prairie and Hwy 6! Dr. Shini is professional, kind and courteous. In both my initial and followup appointments he took his time to assure that the exam, contact lens fitting and tests were done properly and expertly. He provided very good information on best ways to use my contacts during both day and night conditions. In the decades I've been wearing them, I've never had that level of attention to detail and advice. His staff are very helpful and the selection of glasses is exceptional - from Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger and other non-designer offerings. Rather than sending them out, Dr. Shini and his staff make all glass lens in-house - a plus for exceptional fit and service. The turn-around time is best I've encountered. I was recommended to Dr Shini by one of my husband's co-workers since we are new in town. I'M SO HAPPY I went there! The doctor was patient (unlike other optometrists which can make you feel like a bother when you are trying to get through your eye exam for your Rx).
