I don't understand the hate in all these ratings. Made an appointment this morning for what I thought was this afternoon because of a glasses emergency after everyone else in town bucked me. However, I'm an idiot and the appointment wasn't for this afternoon. But they didn't care. They take walk ins so they just changed it right there for me. Performed exam, didn't try to shill fancy lenses/frames, and replaced them right into my current frames just as I asked. Even tightened up the screws on my frames too. Took under an hour and a half, start to finish (including writing this review). Staff was so helpful and nice and patient. Talked about the World Cup with the tech giving me the exam (can't remember her name), including about El Tri's big goal against South Korea the other night. If Stanton gives bonuses, get her one of the black El Tri kits with the tricolor on the shoulders. Will for real go to Stanton Optical every time now, great experience. read more

Went in summer of 2025... everyone working there was RUDE! Not a welcoming place of business at all. No place to sit at a station that had a standard height chair, all bar height chairs. Went to pick up my glasses, the guy that checked me out just shoved them towards me on the counter. Never said lets make sure they fit & need to to make adjustments, can I see good with them on....NOTHING! Just rude. The frames are extremely cheap quality & flimsy. I know it's inexpensive place, but these aren't even average quality frames. Not to mention a handicapped person has to park behind the store and walk to the front, horrible building design, not thought out at all. Zero stars if I could. I bought two pairs of glasses here. Absolute junk. Cheap, flimsy plastic that felt like they could snap any day. When I tried to return them, I was told the free eye exam only counts if I keep the glasses. If I returned them, I'd have to pay for the exam, which costs the same as the glasses. And don't get me started on the exam itself. So either way, I would walk away with nothing. Completely ridiculous. The promotions are a joke. The giant sign says $59 for one pair and $79 for two, but that's just not true. $59 only covers the frame, while $79 suddenly means "frame + lenses." When I asked about details, the staff got super impatient, basically acting like: "Don't ask more, just swipe your card." Now I see why: the more you dig, the more obvious it is that it's a trap. Also, they never tell you the promotion only includes the lowest quality material. I only found out after picking up the glasses and realizing how terrible they were. When I complained, the answer was like: "Well, you chose the cheapest option." Translation: pay more or accept trash. Save your money, save your time, and go literally anywhere else. read more

Awful customer service... eye exams are done remotely and the doctor was way off... employees knew it was a joke and ordered my contacts from my old prescription... now it's time for more contacts and I'm being told it's an extra $45 for 'contact exam'... what exam??? The doctor is not even there?? How can they examine my eyes?? It's a scam... plus contacts won't even be covered and I'll have to pay full price... if I'm paying full price anyway, I want a real eye exam! On September 11, I went to Stanton Optical with an outside prescription. When I came in, everybody was busy, but no one said anything to me. I went to the desk, where a lady was helping a customer, and stood there awhile, but the lady didn't say, "Hello," or "Be with you in a minute," or "Kiss my foot," or anything. I looked at frames and none of the other people said anything to me either. I was there about 15 minutes, and then I went to America's Best and gave *them* my money. This started as a really nice experience. My wife was trying to decide between glasses and contacts and was told insurance would fully cover the contact exam. Ultimately she decided she wanted to go with glasses and had a lot of time to try on different frames. After checking out we saw we were charged $35 for the contact exam. We went back in a the women in the front was very RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. She was on her phone for most of the time. She confirmed that we were told the contact exam would be fully covered but said for some reason we had to pay regardless. She then asked if we wanted to pay $35 or $75. Staff is not customer friendly, The perscription I was given is not a good prescription. As they do not have a doctor on site, there is alot of confusion on what is going on. You deal with a video call from an optomitris that speeks very poor english. The price is not much different than any other optomitrist that I have been to. I placed an order to replace my lenses in my frames, it is not cheep. I ordered 2 boxes of contacts to see the price and I did not have time to wait for a .com. Only one box was produced, no offer of a refund for the missing box after 6 weeks. It is not a place that I would recomend to anyone for any reason. read more

The General Manager and her staff are absolutely incredible! We recently moved out of state where there are no Stanton Opticals. During a recent visit to College Station, my daughter and I dropped by because we both needed new glasses - Stanton has our prescriptions. They accommodated us despite not having an appointment, and patiently looked up our insurance info because we changed insurance providers. When we couldn't figure it out the insurance, they provided us with all the paperwork needed to just submit for reimbursement. Went in for a typical eye exam. First and foremost. Far downgrade from what I'm used to. My old eye doctor was face to face. Shaking my hand. Getting another familiar face. This video call was utter garbage. And do not give me an excuse strip mall level eye doctors. My last eye doctor was located upon a strip mall. It was far more professional and in a much smaller town. These college station businesses that aren't good get to blend in, due to so much traffic in the businesses here. I ended up having to settle for 1 pair of glasses do to the outrageous pricing! $800+ (with insurance) for 2 pairs of glasses!? Are we serious. Took my daughter in for an eye exam. They only did telemedicine exams at that time. Not sure if that has changed, but the office called me back later to tell me that something may be seriously wrong with her eyes. It was terrified and immediately took her to a well established local optometrist clinic here locally. They told me that they get patients all the time from Stanton that have been misdiagnosed and scared half to death. They told me she was just fine and wrote a prescription. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS! How they even remain in business is a wonder. I went in for a standard eye exam, picked out my glasses and ordered them and paid. I was texted, went in to pick them up and they broke while trying them on, then to discover the prescription was wrong. I was told I would need another exam, I came back, got the exam and then picked out another pair of glasses. When I asked about where was the BOGO, I was told I had to request that when I came in the door....WHAT??!! So I waited and waited, glasses still not in. I had to take my prescription to Costco and order glasses, which were still the wrong prescription. I finally went in to the store and requested a refund. I was asked if I still wanted the glasses I ordered 6 weeks ago.... uh, no I don't. I want my money back. Four weeks later, still no refund, so I called and I received some of my money back, so I called again, and finally received my refund minus the bad eye exam....of course. I called in to the store on 2/16/22 about insurance questions, and made an appointment with the guy on the phone for Friday 2/18/22 at 5:50 and got a confirmation that day and a reminder email the morning of the appointment. Received a call that day cancelling my appointment because the lady said the last appointment is taken at 5:30. I made the appointment for Tuesday 2/22/22 for 5:30, received a confirmation, and a reminder text this morning, and at 10:40 I received a call cancelling my appointment again because the appointment was too late. What are your actual hours? I guess nobody knows. If you don't want appointments booked this late, then take the spots off the website. I have a job and cannot come in during the day. I booked an appointment and it took them 2 hours and a half to give me the prescription and I didn't even get my glasses on that day. Somehow they forgot to give me my prescription while no one told me what I should do. The ads outside their store are jokes because anything inside is overpriced. I came in the first time thinking I could get two affordable pairs. They sent me an email saying they give me 25% off for my just purchase but I never had it applied. Turned out I could only get 1 pair for $190 :/ The price is shady and they will start luring you to add on some unnecessary things when checking out. This is my second time at this location and I've had pretty good experiences both times. The prices are affordable and they have good promotions like the vision care plan. Because of this plan, my second trip today was under $200 for glasses and contact exam, for 7 months worth of contacts, and for a pair of glasses with my new prescription that I received same day. Freakin amazing! The three (tolerable) "ehhh" moments: my exam was conducted by someone on a computer screen directing me, I spent almost 2 hours here (mainly because of the computer delays in my order), I wasn't a huge fan of their glasses selection. Still, their prices and great customer service made it worth it. read more

Customer service is reasonable and people are polite. From just scanning the selection it has a fairly wide range of eyewear, but I cannot speak to cost of eyewear or other items as I will not use Stanton for that. I gave it two stars because I didn't like that they charged $36 more for my eye exam than it actually was when I got there since I didn't opt to buy my glasses there. I was told I had to buy my eyewear there that day on some special they were offering to get the price I was quoted. Oh well, it was only $36 more than I was told. Be aware that the eye exam is by video conference, with the equipment remotely controlled. Some people may prefer that and others may not. read more

I received confirmation through an email and text message that my appointment was confirmed. Here is the confirmation. Date: Saturday May 08, 2021 Time: 10:05 AM Location: 1937 Texas Ave S College Station, TX, 77840 When I showed up for my appointment on Saturday, I was told that my appointment had been canceled. I was surprised and replied, no my appointment was confirmed. I was told that we just called you to cancel it. I had already left the house for the appointment when the call was made and was driving so could not take the call. When I asked why my confirmed appointment was canceled, the answer was that we received too many reservations and we have no way to stop reservations and we are already overbooked. I asked why did you accept reservations online if you couldn't manage, the answer was we couldn't change our website. The manager was rude and not accommodating at all. I asked if I could wait for few hours. The manager told me that they had reservations for the entire day and even if I waited, I would not be examined. I told the manager that I would post my complaint on social media, she said that she did not care. I left and started receiving text messages from Staton Optical that I missed my appointment also received emails that I should make another appointment because I missed my appointment. It seems that the business has no clue how to manage their website traffic and does not care about the customer service and customers and couldn't care less if people like me have complaints. Worst eye examination ever. I did my contact lence fitting in this store. It was suppose to be fully covered by my insurance but they charged me $40 on that by telling me it is a specialty CL fit. Completely scam. The experience is just TERRIBLE. The eye examination is VERY short. The doctor almost flashed pictures for you to choose. There was no way to get an accurate measure. Now they said we cannot get a refund nor store credit. They also said they threw the new contact in the trash. I was told there is nothing they can do at this point. I went to get an eye exam from this location in March. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment 15 minutes early and notified the front desk I was there for my appointment I was basically ignored and was told to sign a paper saying I was there for a scheduled appointment. I was then left to wander around the store for two hours looking at frames before returning to the front desk and notifying the woman there that had just started her shift fifteen minutes prior that my appointment was over two hours ago. She asks me if I had signed in, which I had on the paper up front, she told me that wasn't considered signing in and I proceeded to wait for another twenty minute wait for, "the iPad so you can sign in correctly." I finally go in for my eye exam and the doctor isn't in person, he is on a computer. I was incredibly put off by this. I wanted to ask some questions about my vision to the digital doctor but was blown off and hung up on mid-sentence. Unsatisfied with my visit I told their one valuable and competent employee, Antonio, that I was unhappy and wasn't going to be buying contacts or glasses from them. He then gave me a discount coupon and tried to make me "happier with my visit." I then ordered contacts from him, because at least he cared enough to try to help me. I came back a few weeks later to pick up my contacts and decided to order glasses with the coupon I had received. I picked out my frames and was helped by a woman who had no idea what she was doing. Antonio had told me previously that I could use sunglasses frames with regular glasses lenses so that is what I did. I gave her the frames and spent the next 15 minutes explaining to her that, NO I do NOT want sunglasses I want CLEAR lenses with my prescription that will allow me to SEE INSIDE. She says "oh right!" Like she understands and rings me up. I think I'm good right? I have paid and waited for my glasses to come in and I think that I am finally happy with my purchase. I was so, so terribly wrong. I go to pick up my glasses and put them on, they fit nicely and have the correct coatings. I leave the store and realize when I get a half mile away that I cannot read street signs or see red lights. I was given glasses with NO prescription!!! I was given over $200 blue light computer glasses with no prescription at all!!! I call the store to tell them that they either screwed me or I have gone completely insane and they tell me to come back because they have no way of knowing if they ACTUALLY gave me glasses without a prescription, yes you do, you have the receipt. So I return to the store and our dear savior Antonio fixes my issue once again and upgraded my lenses for the trouble. It is now the end of May and I finally have glasses that I can see out of. I was never given a call to inform me that my glasses were ready. Honestly, I have received better service from five year-olds roadside lemonade stands. This was an awful experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. I will not be returning. But please, give Antonio a raise, he is the only one who knows what is going on in that place. read more

I came here because my sister referred me, she has always had good experiences... I wish I could say the same. The exam process was fine. I was looking for frames and nobody offered to help. Asked a couple questions and the guy "helping" made me feel a nuisance. Really nobody helped when it came to questions about frames... very disappointing. Such a great business to get your eyes checked and so close to being efficient. There's not a staff problem. The location is poor and next to a smoke shop causing an odor at times. It is difficult to park at Stanton and my car was hit by another vehicle; I get it, we are here to get our eyes checked. No big deal. I believe all of the individuals inside the office were doing a great job and this particular business has the potential to be so much better. I recommend they find another location with easier access. Look into hiring a CSR or PR rep part time to increase customer satisfaction. I loved my glasses I received there. Nicest pair I have ever owned. The dispensing optician was very friendly and answered every single question I had about glasses. I can now see that "I'm rolling" in style now. read more
