2.5** - I think Wal-Mart can still fall under Free-Food February! Although there is food (grocery), it clearly falls under the Shopping category!.. plus this is getting harder and harder so I think this will pass :) I had no idea there is a wal-mart in downtown Toronto. I was actually going to No Frills (which I cannot write about), and it was so busy that we had to park quite far away from the main grocery entrance. That is when I saw the WAL-Mart sign and decided to drop in to see what we could find. The place was huge, with everything at a decent price. Large, mugs, towels, irons, etc... that seemed oh so affordable. Little did I know or expect to see PRODUCE.. so that is when I started to do part of my shopping there. Deals are definitely comparable to the regular grocery stores, if not cheaper. The fresh food looked OKAY..... but the perishables had most of the same selection. However, the cashier line was along as ever. People were moving so slowly and it didn't seem like service was their ultimate priority. If I had more time, I definitely would have taken the time to walk the aisles, and look for some new items for the house. Not sure what else is offered inside Dufferin Mall but I think it would be worth exploring. read more

This is a very large walmart with an extremely large population density around it so it is always packed especially on the weekend when you may have to wait to get a shopping cart. That being said its still a walmart and the pricing is always good and the stock exceptional. You can pretty much get everything you need here including groceries, clothing, electronics, prescriptions, photos, appliances, toys and more depending on the season. There are 2 floors to this walmart so make sure you check it all out. Its also about a block away from the TTC Dufferin subway station so you don't need a car to get here and its attached to the Dufferin mall so its a one stop shopping experience. A quick tip for getting a cart is to wait at the main entrance. There is a shopping cart area there or you can just bring an empty one in from outside when someone is finished with it. read more

Walmart respects everyone's right to feel and be safe. I am part of the 12% of the public that is allergic to dogs. Walmart has signs at the entrance stating "No Pets Allowed". Even if I were not allergic to dogs I would still prefer to support a business that respects everyone's right to feel and be safe. Canadian Tire and TD bank invite customers to bring their dogs in. read more

Toronto area Grocery Home Delivery - HORRIBLE! After spending a great deal of time putting in a $200 order of groceries, my delivery arrived without any of the refrigerated or frozen items. I was told by the driver, call customer service. Getting through to exactly where you need to be is a challenge in itself and then sitting in queue for an extremely lengthy time added fuel to the fire. Finally connected to a rep named Micheal...who was clearly giving me attitude for being upset. Asking for my billing info, throwing me on hold, finally returning and asking me again for my billing info. Making no apologies for putting my on hold that long, never mind explaining why he did...he had no details from me in order to rectify anything because we had not yet discussed the reason for my call. Unbelievable! When I finally explained the issue of all the missing items and the issues with the so-called replacement items (most of which were also not delivered), he was incapable of understanding the basic logic with the issues. He continued talking over me and talking in circles with the same speech because he clearly lacked the knowledge to understand, explain or rectify this issue. He had absolutely no customer service skills or experience and was without a doubt, incapable of doing this job! Eventually, since he could not manage this issue, he chose to take the easy road out and said he had to put me on hold. HE NEVER RETURNED!! He simply got rid of my call and routed me back into the general queue. What a jackass!!! At this point it was aleady 10:15pm, past the close time for customer service and I had been on the phone for one hour!! To my surprise, someone else eventually picked up the call and had he skill-set and knowledge to at least deal with missing items. But now I have the frustration of shopping again (elsewhere obviously) and being out the "delivery fee" when clearly it was not warranted. Wal-Mart, if you think you want to capture the market in grocery delivery, you will need to do much better than this!!! I have never in my life encountered anything like this from a retailer...so congratulations on being terrible! read more

who writes a review on walmart? get lives losers. It's a Walmart. Did they have your stuff at the lowest price? So low it almost certainly required slave like working conditions ? WALMART! read more

Firstly, yes I am aware I'm reviewing wally world and giving them 1 star. This isn't surprising to anyone, I get it. The reason for my review is to warn fellow shoppers not to buy too much if you actually want to get it into your car. This store (maybe all of them...I try to stay away from this store as much as humanly possible) has these barriers that don't allow the carts into the parking lot. I mean I get WHY we don't want Toronto's finest taking a cart home with them but I also need to load my crap into my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is wrong with you people? Also, the shelves were near bare. So there's also that. read more

They don't answer their phone. If they do, they physically pick up the receiver and they hang up. They don't know what they have and don't have. Every employee I asked for help told me a different answer with such confidence and none of them resulted in my finding what I wanted. No offended Walmart but maybe you should educate your employees a little more. Or pay them better so they actually care. read more

Where do I begin, came here for photo center to develop some photos on the USB and the lady working there kept pushing us to pay. We were inspecting photos to count to make sure it was correct. Let's say If associates are this bad at photo center we can take our business elsewhere. Lady who works there her name is Shanta. It's like like we will run off with the photos. Aggressive bout paying before checking. Next time we will hit up Costco instead. read more

It's convenient and they have many items....However customer service is nil in housewares...Check out is often very poor...please check your bill to make sure it's accurate on pricing. ..I've often had to go to a second line to have my bill adjusted. ..Always allot for an extra half hour for check out during the holidays read more

Absolutely disgusting. Always out of stock, cold staff, and not to mention - I was standing in line and a MOUSE ran over my foot. This place should be gutted, renovated, and put under new management. I have never had a pleasant experience here. I would rate less if I could. My advice, find a different walmart. This one is a waste of time. read more

I'm a relatively calm person but this location makes me lose my sh*t EVERY SINGLE TIME. They seriously need to figure out a better system for keeping their precious shopping carts from going off the property. I had a stroller with me and I was not able to exit from the front doors until I shimmied 5 carts out of my way. It's a 4 minute drive to get here but I rather shop anywhere else. #fixitwalmart -Bloor & Dufferin Walmart read more

I kind of love it! Maybe I've been lucky, but the queues for checkout have been fine. Not instant service but not too long waiting the first time I went and strolled straight up to an empty register today. Staff pleasant and helpful both times. I don't necessarily expect brilliance anyway. I presume they like to keep costs down, so I doubt they recruit from the MBA special interest group at Mensa meetings. It's hard to remember much about the shopping trips. I was in a bit of a trance/fugue state. You can buy pretty much everything you could want for your home in here (including food) and the prices are REALLY good. I was sick of Shoppers Drug Mart trying to charge me double the US price for Neutrogena for example....Walmart doesn't. Picked up lots of bits and pieces and will go back for more. Possibly with a car next time. Dragging furniture on the subway could prove challenging. I know their corporate policies have been held up as dubious and it's hardly fancy, but right now I need to save some money and it completely fits the bill. Biggest complaint is the lack of freaks shopping there. People of Walmart (http://www.peopleofwalmart.com) lied to me! read more

The cash return on the Walmart credit card is really good. I do my groceries here now too. If ur on a budget this is ur spot. Dufferin mall location is connected to so many other great stores. I make a day of shopping and have to bring a hockey bag. Enjoy! read more

The only reason to shop at Walmart is because of the low prices which to me aren't that much lower than Amazon or going to Metro for groceries. Not much to say in a review about Walmart since everyone knows what they're getting into when they go but the reason why I'm writing this review and giving them one star is because of the service. I've only had one good customer service experience ever here, other than it ranges from terrible to slightly below mediocre. I would buy a lot more here but I end up going other places so I don't have to deal with the employees. read more

I love that this Walmart is open early until late even on weekends and does not conform to the regular mall hours. However this is the only Walmart in Toronto that does not allow shopping carts to go to customer cars. Therefore DO NOT grocery shop here! When I was 9 months pregnant I came here to do my shopping so I can pickup a few other items while grocery shopping all in one store, filled up my cart and then paid. I parked in the lower garage which is accessible via elevator or escalator but once I got out the doors to the lot I had to drive my car to the stairs and hope no one stole my items while I got the car. Then I had to squeeze my big belly and bags through the thin spaced metal post up and down stairs. I truly believe this aided in me going into labour earlier! read more

Closest Wal-Mart to me and probably the worst in customer service. The employees just don't care. They do however consistently keep up with the stock, I've visited other locations that don't and I can usually find the item there. Location is good right by dufferin subway. read more

This store is a sh!tshow 99% of the time. The Vision Centre has some of the worst service I have experienced in my life. This is a story worth reading. I went for a contact lens fitting. Called them and booked an appointment. When I show up for my appointment, I mentioned I booked a contact lens fitting. Lady #1 started accusing me of having the wrong date and time then basically implied I was lying about booking anything. She thought I was there for an eye exam and then told me that I failed to mention it was a lens fitting. Wow. Then Lady #1 called another store to confirm I had previously paid for a contact lens fitting in the past (they charge a one time fee of $25). The store had issues locating my info, and told Lady #1 that I had ordered lenses but failed to pick them up (which is a complete lie). I end up paying the $25. During the appointment, Lady #1 started complaining about typical types of customers they face (i.e. single mother, people on welfare), making me uncomfortable and only further pissing me off. Cherry on top: Lady #1 gave me a trial lens with the wrong prescription. Luckily a gentleman was on duty there and told me he would order in the correct lens as they didn't have any in stock. A week later, Lady #1 calls me to inform me the lens arrived and that I could come in whenever to try it on. When I arrived to try it on, Lady #2 asked me what my tray number was. I told her I was never provided one. Lady #2 said I was definitely provided a tray number and that there would be no other way of knowing what lens was mine because I'm not in their system. Except I provided them with all my information on a sheet they told me to fill out?! Lady #2 claimed she's the one who called me and that she definitely gave me a tray number. Too bad that I know for a fact it was Lady #1 who called me. Then yes, there was a Lady #3 who searched for my lens and found it. I explained that they ordered the correct lens for me because they were out of stock. Lady #3 says that she remembers because she did the fitting for me. Um, what?! Again, WOW. This was the pared down version of my experience. Next time, I may just pay $90 at Hakim to get a proper fitting. read more

I went to Dufferin Mall Waltmart Vision Centre, and had a terrible experience. I paid for my eye exam out my pocket and when I asked the optician for a copy of my prescription, she refused and said some non sense about someone else being responsible for their own prescriptions. Since I didn't buy my contacts from them, she became very rude and continued to refuse to provide me with a copy of my own records. This is clearly a violation as everyone has the right to have access to their medical records/information. I dont recommend them at all, their service is crap and if you dont end up buying from them they will give you a hard time with your own prescription. Stay away!! read more

I called to see if they had a specific type of Nerf gun. I asked for the toy section and instead of getting transferred, I got put on hold for ten minutes. Then the same woman answered and asked if I was still looking for toys. I said yes and she transferred me to furniture. A man answered there and finally transferred me to toys, where the phone rang off the hook for another ten minutes. Someone then picked up the receiver, and hung it right back up. I called to speak to a manager, and the same woman to begin with just put me on hold. Not happy. Walmart has the worst of the worst customer service. I will never shop for anything there again. read more

I always get my eyes tested at the vision center in walmart. They have doctors on site. The fees are low and the exams are pretty thorough (glaucoma check, cataracts etc). There aren't really any major designer frames, but simple glasses for low prices readily available. read more

Clumsy. Crowded. Bad produce. Some times nice offers at the lower floor in households department.

I'll just start by saying that I'm not a big walmart fan. It is too busy, and I take issue with the overall company philosophy. Last year though I tried out their photo studio for photo gifts as they are by far the cheapest for photo books and photo collages. I was very pleased with the results. So I tried again this year and order 2 photo books online on Aug 6th. I received a confirmation email stating they would take 2-3 weeks. I realized yesterday that I hadn't heard anything so I called the store. The sales associate at the photo desk would only confirm that they weren't waiting for pick up but refused to look my order up in the computer even though I had the order number. She said she was too busy and when I asked for a manager she said there was no one in and hung up on me. She also told me that I should just come into the store and redo them! For anyone who has ever made a photo book you know how long these things take to make. I called back and spoke with the store manager who said she would look into it and call me back. So far no call back. I wasn't expecting much in the way of customer service but this was terrible. In the future I'll be taking my business elsewhere! Maybe target! read more

Located in the Dufferin Mall shopping center, this Walmart location is just like any other store in the chain, with a few exceptions. First a grocery section has been added to the store, and second, there is a McDonald's located inside the store. While I admit I have purchased an item from this store once, I avoid Walmart like the plague for many reasons. First of all, it's always busy and crowded. Second, I don't like what the corporation has done to industries in both the U.S. and Canada, and how they underpay and treat their employees. However, in order to provided a fair review of this location I can say the store serves it purpose in providing everything under one roof and at low prices. Check-out is speedy and customer service desk is good in helping process returns/refunds. read more

I mean, everyone knows Walmart is evil, but I'm writing specifically to rate the Walmart Photo Centre in this location. I needed some prints made within a few days for gifts so I placed a large order here. The quality was absolutely HORRIBLE. At least half to 3/4 of the photos were blurry beyond being usable. I called to complain, and was first told there could be no refund, and then told a manager would get back to me within a couple days. When no one called me back within a week I called again. On this call I was told that actually my order was being refunded in full and it would show up on my credit card within a few days. Fast forward 1.5 weeks and nothing. Then I got a call from another supervisor telling me that the last person had been wrong and that "there are a lot of new people working there" which is why. She then told me I would need to return to prints (impossible at this point), and finally compromised on a partial refund. Never using this service again! read more

The girl in the photo studio put 2014 on the passport photos instead of 2015. Didn't realize until i had already waited at the passport office (I know i should have double checked). Called and was given a lame excuse that some kid must have been playing with the stamp and changed the date. The price is also expensive compared to other places, will never use their photo service again. read more

Great for some stuff, awful, AWFUL, for produce. Bought a bag of Red Delicious apples for $3.97 a bag (which is already high), and they charged me $4.97! Didn't realize till I was home and looked at the receipt. From the same shopping trip, the bag of avocado's I bought has been terrible. 3 of 5 were completely inedible. What a waste of money. I'll stick to real grocery stores for my food stuffs from now on. read more

This is not a review of the physical store, but the on-line shopping. I was promised on June 27 delivery within two days, but I gave them the benefit of doubt, because of Canada Day weekend and the threat of postal strike. The vision centre at this location is downright awful. If you need to get an eye prescription filled, I honestly recommend you go literally anywhere else. The staff are rude and condescending, not only did they LOSE MY PRESCRIPTION but when I tried to talk to the Vision Centre manager on the phone, she called me an idiot, implied it was an error on my end, and eventually hung up on me. I have had multiple issues with multiple staff members in the Vision Centre at this location, from them refusing to sell me contact lenses that I had already ordered in without forking over $85 for an eye exam (after having taken one at the same store while ordering the lenses a week prior), to then losing that prescription and reusing to take ownership of that, to straight up insulting me and my companions when in the store. I would give them 0 stars if it let me. I have contacted the Walmart head offices about it and they've never done anything more than causally apologise and move on. Now I'm stuck without a prescription, and they have no record of my visits, and on top of all of that they want to charge me for a new exam when they're the ones who lost it in their ridiculously archaic database. I've gone to other Walmart vision centres and have had no problems at all. This location is the worst of the worst. The over glorified sales girls they have titled as "opticians" are on a massive power trip, and are no where near the awful attitude that seems to be the only thing you can actually get from them. 0/10. Awful experience, awful staff. Oh, and when I asked to speak to a manager of the vision centre, the woman on the phone (the one who called me an idiot for her losing my script) claimed she was the manager. When I talked to the store manager a few minutes later after calling back, I found out that wasn't the case. They're liars, and are trying to rip you off. Do not go to this vision centre. Honestly, I'd rather be blind than have to deal with their obnoxious employees. read more
