Today I used the self-checkout. I paid for a bag of dog food but the register would not give me a receipt and then it sent my receipt to someone's email whom I don't know. I told the employee who was monitoring the area and she got Roxanne, the floor manager of the day. Roxanne said that this was my problem and I'd have to call Walmart Tech Support. What the hell? My problem. Then she told me that I had not paid for the $35 bag of dog food and to pay again, which I did. I got to my truck and called my credit card company. They confirmed that I had paid twice. I went back in the store with the credit card agent on the phone. I found Roxanne and told her she could speak with them to confirm that I had paid twice. She declined and took off running across the store, back to the service desk. I followed her and told her that I would dispute the charges. She then said that she'd give my $35 back via a refund. When I called to speak with the manager to report what had happened Roxanne got on the line and pretended to be her own manager. What?! I hung up on her and called again. This time I got someone above Roxanne who said that she would be pulled into an office for a retraining meeting today. The manager was apologetic and seemed aghast by what i relayed to him. I have shopped at this store in Watkins Glen for 15 years and have never had a problem. This was bad. This Roxanne person needs to be retrained or fired. All of this was unnecessary. That's what I get for telling an employee that their machine wasn't working and was sending electronic receipts to the worng customer. Leaves a bad taste in one's mouth!! read more

Walmart with the standard groceries and supplies, garden and sports center, and a small pharmacy section. Like most, missing things supply-wise on the shelves here and there but mostly some supplies here and there to substitute. No disinfectant wipes. Lots of Suave sanitizer now. Parking lot coming from the one side is a no right turn but lot had plenty of space and wasn't busy on a Monday. read more

Can't believe I have not reviewed this Walmart location before. For years, this has been my go-to during my annual trip to Watkins Glen. Walmart is known for being a one-stop-shop store, but this one stands out from the other locations for me because of the following: 1. Despite it's distance from a major city center, the are never out of stock 2. The vegetables and fruits are always fresh 3. The proximity to the Watkins Glen racetrack - Walmart locations are usually not a five minute drive to large entertainment venues 4. The friendliest, most helpful, most available Walmart staff ever! Don't know if it's the excitement of the Nascar weekend, but there is always staff on hand who are ready and able to assist. Never had to "go looking" for anyone. Year after year, groceries for the meat eaters, the vegans, the vegetarians, and everyone in between was never an issue. Forgot pillows, towels, need extra blow up beds, slippers, a toothbrush, whatever the need Walmart has us covered. See you next year!! read more

Walmart Supercenter - Fresh as it gets! - Department Stores Near Me - Watkins Glen, New York

They have NO BAGS. NONE. The cashier told me that they aren't allowed to have plastic bags and they ran out of paper bags. No visible sign that I saw at the entrance warning customers, especially those of us from out of town who might not carry extra reusable bags on a long road trip. It's going to take six years to get all of the stuff into our rental. My only saving grace is I had picked up a beach bag in the store. read more

This review is for the auto center. they were fantastic. We had a low tire pressure sensor pop on and were nervous about a 3 hour trip back home. They took us right away and checked things out. It was very reassuring before the drive. Everyone was nice and respectful. read more

I returned after one month! I should've stayed home given the sloppy n inconsistent Precautions being taken. Social distancing was not easy to perform because most customers were close to other shoppers plus O LOT OF CUSTOMERS HAD MO MASKS ON! Getting in and out of the store was poorly marked plus there was absolutely no one outside to guide customers. In the store, the checkout staff was helpful and protected themselves and myself. Overall, the store gets an F grade re following adequate precautions. Almost forgot about a family of 5, 2 adults n 3 kids under 9-10 years old. They wore no masks, all 5 jumped ahead of us in the cashier lane and the kids were running around touching products near the register are. I was very affected by the oblivious family! read more

Shopped there several days ago, searching for a kayak. A very nice young man, named Russ was very helpful. He stopped doing what he was doing, searched the store for different products, and ultimately helped us decide on something far less expensive than the $500 2-person kayak that was for sale. We ultimately purchased a blow-up row boat and electrical pump. Russ was very patient as he devoted his time and answered all of our questions. Another young man, named Sean also contributed to the pleasant shopping experience. I know many are quick to complain, but I'm singling Russ out as an uncommon store representative and he should be recognized as a valuable employee. read more

Heard this store has been under a new manager for awhile. I have noticed some positive changes, but more work needs to be done. The employees on their smoke break should NOT be allowed to stand by the side door to smoke! To the point that they had to move so that customers could enter the store. Nobody else should experience their second hand smoke. Bring back the carport structure with the picnic table that they used to have at the edge of parking lot. Second, there is still way to much merchandise in the isles. Many isles will only fit one cart at a time. The entrance of the store has so much stuff in the middle of the isle that it creates a bottle neck. Even more stuff during holidays. Folks stop to look at stuff and no one can get past them to enter the store. read more

I love the Watkins Glen Wal Mart. They are especially helpful through this covid 19. The store is clean and well managed. There are of course unfortunately, some customers that do not follow the guidelines or might be rude. But I have found the associates patient and tolerant. I called about a question regarding the photo department. She was not sure of the answer, but found out for me. It is the friendliest Wal Mart in this area, and a pleasure to go there. I have had two really nasty experiences here. An older cashier lady, named Diane I think, who was nice as pie to the customers ahead of us was straight up nasty to my mocha bear husband. We don't like to cry racism but it was pretty obvious. And a young manager-type named Annie was so rude to my sister that my lovely sweet sister refuses to go back to the store. Never enough lines open and half the service is terrible. I always have trouble with an older lady there. I will only go here if I have to.

The employees are super friendly and very helpfull! They also keep things very clean!
