t's a fine store. But the heat is just insane! It's on year-round, and they've been saying they were going to be getting it fixed, for years. I, for one would never want to work there I would like to clarify that I'm giving this place such a low review because I would like to see more reviews like this, so that the boscov's team might actually fix the AC one day. That is a real business killer. In the winter, it's not so bad. But when it's 75+ degrees outside, the heat makes for a rather unpleasant shopping experience. We absolutely love Boscov's. Except last night. The young lady that worked at night at the desk to validate parking was extremely rude and argumentative when my husband was asking how long it would be before parking was free again. She said we could parking across town if we want it free, and just kept going on and on. We just walked out feeling like we don't want to come back again if this is what it will be like every time. We would rather walk a mile to get there than go back to her for validation! read more

We went to Boscov's and were shopping - I noticed someone trying on Gucci Glass frames he seemed so happy! I had no idea they had an Optical Dept. He was mentioning the GREAT DEAL Compared to where he was...it was a model that was a classic- loved them on him- My friends glasses were broken- I went to the car and brought them in. Michelle helped me and mentioned she would give them to Steve the owner- I went today Friday. He fixed them - helped me with another pair. I inquired how much? Two other places tried to sell us new glasses - mentioning they could not repair. Steve got the screw out- cleaned and repaired the glasses- FREE That's customer service! I don't mind when my co-workers cough, but I don't like seeing my Boscov. Because my boss is a d***. Very old school, soooo old school department store is right! Looks like it's from 1973 or something but that's not a bad thing. Reminds me of the old days of the United States when this country was freaking awesome. It doesn't have a lot of the new stuff that some of the other department stores have, maybe they're trying to move with the times but it doesn't show - yet the city of Binghamton has kept it alive even though it's a little quiet in here. I hope that Binghamton goes on supporting it, and it continues to be the case although I fear for it. It's not cheap but then neither is my sister. read more

The cashier who was checking us out was extremely rude. My mom asked why the same 3/4 sleeve shirt but very slightly different shades of pink were different prices. "Well one is fall and one is spring" and my mom responded "because of color?" And the woman in the most rude and rotten tone said "yes were you not listening to me?" So I proceeded to take my kids hands and say there is nothing in this store I need bad enough to deal with someone like her. And she had the audacity to call me rude. So you bet your ass I went back and chewed into her and called HR. Absolutely disgusting display of customer service. read more

My husband and I went back to this store in July 2023 . I used to live near Binghamton NY a long time ago. My mom took myself and my younger sister to see Santa when the store was Fowlers back in the mid 1960"s. Such happy memories. Not many stores like this anymore. Thank you Boscov's. Excellent prices can be found here every day if the week! A true department store in the heart of downtown Binghamton. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. Make sure to visit the auditorium on the 4th floor, that's always where I find some unique items. Also, a clearance section down in the basement. So glad Boscov's has so far survived the department store closings of recent times.The Camp Hill, PA location appears to be thriving. I just recently moved back East from Utah, and it was disheartening to find out that Bon-Ton' had closed. The Boscov's remains due to great pricing, friendly service and a well kept up store. This is my favorite place to shop in not only downtown, but all of Binghamton. This is a very cool old department store. I love the old school style. The prices are insanely cheap for the quality and the service is pretty great. The workers are friendly and helpful. I have never had any issues. This place is amazing. You can find everything you're looking for and it's half the price or more of what other department stores charge. I've gotten tons of higher end clothing here and paid very little. I do see some remarks here about the building's condition, and I know for sure that the parking garage looks a little rough. I haven't noticed anything alarming inside the store itself, though. I really hope that Boscov's doesn't end up leaving the area, as it has been rumored so much lately. I would recommend this store to everyone. read more

I honestly think this is one of the most underrated places to shop in all of Binghamton, they have things that look great and are great at a fraction of what it costs to buy similar if not the same thing some place else. not even only that, but you can tell that they care about their customers since on more than once occasion I had received gifts from here but the size was way too small so I tried to exchange them for a different size and I didn't have the receipt but they honored the exchange any way and this happened twice. the staff is friendly and they even helped measure me out for a custom fit suit! my favorite place to shop in Bing. read more

Boscov's holds the unique honor of being downtown Binghamton's only department store. I wish I could say more positive things about it, but that's all I've got. Department stores don't seem to be in fashion these days, and Boscov's isn't helping matters. It looks like it hasn't seen a renovation since the late sixties. Five floors of various merchandise. They have a little bit of everything; furniture, televisions, electronics, outdoor fountains, clothes, knicknacks, etc. I had been told they have some pretty good deals, but I really didn't see anything that caught my eye. I like to be supportive of downtown establishments, but Boscov's just doesn't cut it. read more

My husband and I had the difficult task of returning a recently deceased family member's purchases. She bought several items to go on a cruise only to be diagnosed with advanced lung cancer the day before she was scheduled to leave. She was never able to use the items or go on the cruise. We couldn't find the store receipts and some tags were removed. SHANNON and KIMBERLY in the domestics department took the time to look up her Boscov's account and credit every single item! They went above and beyond their duties and we are truly thankful for their help that sad day. read more

Love the merchandise, service, and location. HATE the building, I was just there and the AC was blowing hot air in the dressing rooms. If you want bargains, and high quality that often can't or won't sell - around this town - come here. Consider this a cut rate version of a NYC flagship store at 59 St. between 3rd to Lex. What you will not have are the bizarre affectations, often snippy customers and flashy one-upsman types of NYC. Ongoing promotions are well dispersed; Auditorium and Basement - top and bottom floors - will be a boon to the price conscious. Have bought a trove of quality garments and household items from their proprietary labels which often outlast even the so-called 'best'. You most often will get what you want here rather than going out to Oakdale or to Vestal. Furniture is the only item which seems marked-up higher. This place is a real barren dump, BUT look where you are, and that said this crap hole throw back empty slice of 50s esque slop isn't actuallyisnt that half bad, although the top floor electronics dept is a total laugh riot, their a black mold stain leaking water from the ceiling onto the top of a displaying flatscreen down the back into a waiting assortment of buckets, only in this place folks, only in this place! Lol, wow Anyway after the flood the poor sweet heart cutie pie I was helped with in finding a pair of sneakers was ousted out of her dept to bedding after the basement was destroyed and is now I've learned is now in bedding on 4th from a very attractive other sweet one on the main floor men's dept. Boscov's in Binghamton is a great place to shop for high quality merchandise at great prices. The flooded basement has had a total redo and is lovely. People need to appreciate the last of the big department stores for what they are. We drive down from Corning,NY to do the majority of our shopping by-passing all the malls. I do hope they get the restaurant back up and running as it is a good place to sit and relax after shopping and have a nice meal. read more

Physically and aesthetically, Boscov's is at most a two star store. It could almost be a museum! You feel like you're taking a field trip into the past. Clearly, they haven't updated in decades, possibly ever. I don't know when this Boscov's opened so I don't know if it was even around for Rod Sterling to see, but I have a suspicion that this is the department store that inspired that Twilight Zone episode with the living mannequins... However, once you get past that initial shock of shabbyness, the merchandise is fine. They have some surprisingly stylish finds mixed in with the elderly lady picks. I got a very cute pair of leather gladiator sandals on sale for less than $30. Pretty sweet. Bought my mom a pair of pretty purple jade earrings on clearance for about $20. Verdict? Don't go out of your way to shop at Boscov's (unless you're into retro department store design), but it doesn't hurt to have a peek around once in awhile. read more

I bought a set of outdoor furniture from Boscov's and applied for and received a Boscov's credit card, partially because a sign at the checkout desk boasted that there was no interest on such purchases for six months. When I received my statement, an interest charge was added. I contacted them and was told that no interest-free period was in effect. I am paying off the charge and canceling my credit card. I discovered Boscov's when my daughter started school in Binghamton. To me Boscov's is almost as valuable as the first-rate education she received at the university there. Sure it's an old-fashioned looking building, but if you're looking for quality merchandise at good prices, you can forget about the atmosphere and concentrate on what you need. The bldg. was once the upscale beautiful Fowler Dick and Walker Dept. store when Binghamton was still clean and beautiful with a thriving downtown until the 70's, then became BonTon's which later moved to the Mall. Boscov's in the early 80's bought the bldg. and moved in. Boscov's removed the attractive interior and replaced it with a barren and sparse exact copy of the interior of their Reading PA store; it looks like a discount store. However, it's Binghamton's one and only department store and it has good qualities. I like their womens shoe dept. They carry Clarks, Easy Spirit and other brands that I like in wide sizes, unlike Macy's. They carry a large variety of well-made merchandise as well as the opposite and they often have wonderful sales. They carry a larger variety of the better quality of Alfred Dunner Petites than Macy's and more coats and other items than any store in the mall. They keep the ladies restroom clean, there's a café, and also a travel center on their top floor. It's the only dept. store in Binghamton; the many others moved to the mall or closed in the 60's and 70's. Boscov's appears to have humane management. At one time there was a well-known gentle and quiet homeless man who would sit in the mens shoe dept. on very cold days and it was evident that Boscov's provided him with new clothes, shoes, and a winter coat and hat.
