Comparing…read morethe the many similar type stores around the country, I'll give a few points on this particular place. They have a pretty comprehensive variety in stock both among and between categories of both new and used/vintage (video games, music, movies, collectables, comics and so forth). Each category has its own section of the store. Their prices used to be a bit under the equivalent ebay cost even before shipping (if a game was $20 on ebay + $5 shipping, they would have it as $16), but over the years they caught up to, and are now basically same prices plus or minus a couple dollars even after considering shipping, however they will sometimes offer sales on categories (buy one get one 50% off or buy three get one free) which give them back the pricing advantage. The exception is the rarer stuff, which can be more volatile in price, so sometimes a sought after game can be somewhat over or under priced for example. I've bought dozens of games, comics, consoles from them over the years, all worked, and the one time I had an issue they resolved it ( I bought a complete run of new mutants which noted it had a reprint of 98, but did not note having a reprint of 87, so I was able to return after opening the set and finding this). On the selling side, I rarely sell stuff, but like anywhere, they are designed to make a profit, so if you are looking to sell for cash by definition you are not going to get market value, so I recommend getting store credit, and then waiting for a sale day to buy other stuff you want and you might end up ahead of the market rate on your trade in! The reason its not 5 stars is the place can be a bit cramped, and hard to browse if there are more than a handful of people in the area you are shopping, and they over pack the back issue comics bins such that you can't really flick though the issues, you need to pull them out of the tightly packed bin to see them, and if you want to buy something in a case (understandably most valuable items are locked in cases) it can take a while to get somebody to get it for you to buy.

Within the first few minutes of speaking with the lady that greeted me. I mentioned that I usually go to Van Horn Jewelers in Owego and her next response was that she had heard that they do very good work over there. She made a couple of other comments that were positive about the competition and then asked what she could help me with. My first thought at this point was that Van Horn Jewelers must be doing a pretty good job if the competition is telling me so and it made me feel good that my previous decisions on my jewelry purchases were pretty good as well If this place is telling me that the other place does good work. So anyway the reason I stopped in was to have a watch repaired. It's not an expensive watch in comparison to others, and in fact it's probably going to cost as much as it retailed for originally to fix it If not a few dollars more. I was already aware of this by doing some research and I am okay with this. I had originally taken it to another place to have it repaired and I was told that it wasn't worth it because it would cost too much which I didn't feel was that other guy's decision to make, so I took my watch and went home. Vancott Jewelers didn't approach it from that angle, but instead understood that I was looking to have this repaired, quoted me an estimate and a price for shipping. The woman I was talking to at this point is named Carol and she was most helpful. She showed me what she thought the problem was, and was very polite and courteous. This all happened yesterday, I haven't received the estimate yet, and obviously haven't had the watch repaired and yet here I am already leaving five stars. The end result of what I decide to do with my watch in my opinion isn't relevant as the service I've received so far was exemplary.
