I came here after my fabulous fail at Target. I expected to be able to find everything I needed when I came in here, because well it's Walmart. But, as they say, the grass is not always greener on the other side. I still had time to kill and because I am persistent I wanted to get that task out of the way. It irritated me as soon as I walked in here. I decided to make my way to the back of the store to attempt to find my first item. And, as if it were a theme for the day, it was not there. I am going to amass that to how busy the area is. Because of that I assume that a lot of the items just fly off the shelf. At that point, I just decided to get in the car and go. Drive myself into oblivion because at this point my day was feeling like it was shot. I browsed as I walked myself up to the front of the door, preparing to exit. It's a decent Walmart and I was surprised to have an associate actually understand the ten foot rule. She was helpful. Go, you. And I'm sorry, young lady, that I did not catch your name due to the shock. (For the store manager, she was stocking the Home Office department yesterday at 7:30 AM.) The store was clean, it was tidy, there were no carts in the corrals outside and the registers were appropriately staffed. I was able to find the two things I needed quickly and pay for them. No RV over night parking! We called two days ago to check and we had 2 security trucks go by but the third ask us to move to closed restaurant thought about 100 feet away. So my guess is That it's ok to keep us close enough to spend our money in their store, like we did for lunch and some groceries for the week, but now I'm not getting our propane tanks filled and I hope nobody else visits this location. read more

This is a decent Walmart. The associates are usually helpful and friendly. This Walmart is almost always (during normal times) well stocked and clean. The layout here is easy to follow and again, clean isles. Because of the location, they have a good selection of Hispanic food items. Not just your run of the mill Mission tortillas and jar salsa. So this is a good place to come if you do a lot of home cooking. read more

Update; after SEVERAL CALLS 15 minutes of ringing multiple times to delivery department I had to call a manager to have my order canceled- there was no idea on IF my groceries would ever be delivered and no one in that department. I STRONGLY recommend using another service. This has been an extremely aggravating experience and now I have to go out to by the very groceries I needed hours ago. I will go elsewhere- extremely poorly done! Still waiting for my delivery. I pay a delivery fee and a driver tip, I trust the validity of the time slot the store says is open and follow all their directions. The fact that this was reserved over 12 hours ago and a time slot chosen and approved makes it very stressful to learn they don't have a driver and my order will arrive "eventually " yet nowhere on their app is there a place to check progress or get updates. I am paying between $15-25 more an order for the convenience of receiving my groceries delivered at a time the shop and myself agree on. Being stuck waiting with no idea at all when or if my order will arrive is poorly done and not at all a recommendable service. Not receiving updates again, creates more stress than it's worth. Another complaint is that when items DO get delivered, there is often no notification that it arrived and if you are not constantly checking out your door, your groceries can sit a good while while you are inside waiting to be informed they are there. If you want a great experience, try target. They have a great customer service, they notify you if your items need to be substituted, they notify you when they check out and again when they deliver- and not once have they been late or not showed up to deliver an order. Your customer service is bad. I called and they transferred to the back but no one answered and if just hung up. I called a few minutes later and they answered and just hung up, one of the workers also cursed me out when I called back the third time. I would give it 0 stars but that's not an option on yelp. Went in and needed 6 items, including a push mower. Could not find 4 of the 6 items, as they were out of stock or a worker had parked a huge crate of stock right in front of what I needed so I couldn't get around the crate to pick up the item. When I went to get the mower, NO ONE offered to help me. I got to move all the crap that was laid out on top of it, got to pull my cart closer, take the large box off the shelf and lift it up and turn to put it into my cart--- three employees walked by and none offered to help me. Then, it was time to check out. All of the self-checkout lanes were open (but I feel like when buying anything that you can get a warranty for, that isn't the best idea), and TWO REGULAR LANES were open, including the one for cigarettes of course. The man checking people out at the cigarette lane moved like molasses in January, so I opted for the other lane. The lady at the lane was pleasant and quick. So I was rolling out with my mower, a couple items extra, plus a drink. I am rolling out and come up to a line of people trying to get out. So I thought there was some sort of traffic jam with a kid or maybe someone leaving their cart behind so they were gathering their stuff, and I went to move around it. Next thing I know, a woman in a yellow vest (I swear, I have had more trouble with WalMart employees in the yellow vests) shouts at me, "I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOUR RECEIPT" as she waves the scanner in my face. Literally, I could have puckered a bit and kissed the scanner. So I start to dig out my receipt that I had already put in my wallet a minute ago. She comes over and is making a repeated grabby-hand gesture at me for my receipt and after I handed it to her, I asked why they were checking carts [No one has ever checked my cart at Target- even when I had TVs, cameras, and/or a large toy, in the cart], she told me, "We have to do it for inventory" as she proceeded to shove my purse almost out of the cart and then shoved my other bag with BREAKABLE items in it, aside so she could scan my box to make sure the mower in the cart was the same as the mower on the receipt (seriously, did they think I grabbed a more expensive one out of the Optical Shop, cause that was the only thing I passed between the Check Out lane #13 and the chic in the yellow vest), and then she shoved my receipt at me and told me, "You can leave now.". If I hadn't needed the mower and I hadn't had an appointment I needed to get to, I would have been at Customer Service returning every item. I won't be returning to this Walmart. Thanks to this Customer Service, I will now be using Target, Aldi's, and anyone else who is NOT walmart. read more

No one wants to answer the phone, at the Chambersburg Store #1850, not at the Service Desk or Deli Dept.I wanted to order chicken for a picnic, I actually had to go into the store to order chicken. This was the worst Walmart I have ever been to. They only have 2 cashier to check out people . The employees will tell you to try checking your self out, no I spent $177.00. I'm not bagging my own grocery. This is the reason there are no cashiers and we let Walmart get away with it. I felt bad for the two handicap people in line and ask for a manager she said they need cashiers but no one what's to work she checked out the two handicap people but not until I asked, very sad. She was socializing with her college and had to stop and do some work. read more

I'll keep this brief... A Walmart is a Walmart. At least that has been my experience so far. Anybody find anything different? I used to do all my Walmart shopping here prior to the opening of the supercenter in Waynesboro (see my review on this). It's a good store. I don't like the styling of this store as much as the Waynesboro store--but it's definitely acceptable. I don't like the parking lot either. I know my son would give an eye-tooth to have a Wal-mart near him. He recently moved to the bay area and says Wal-marts there are like hen's teeth (there aren't any!). read more

The employees in this store are allowed to treat you anyway they want and nothing will be done about it. Walmart does not appreciate their customers at all. I really think it is time for people to stop putting up with it and go someplace else I'm sorry but their prices aren't that great anymore to be worth being treated this badly. I went to the Chambersburg Walmart tonight after work. When I went to check out there was no cash registers open except for self check out. I had a full cart and it was not even 10pm so I asked if someone could check me out and was told that they were having a meeting so I could either check myself out or wait till their meeting was over. Really I just got off work and now I have to do the cashiers job too. Next thing you know we will have to stock the shelves if we want to buy something. I really dislike Walmarts in general. Yes, you can get good prices, but if you're a savvy shopper these days, you can do fine elsewhere. The Chambersburg Walmart is usually very busy. The parking lot is a hazard to walk or drive through. I always park in the back of the lot and walk. Store employees are hit or miss. Some are very helpful and nice, while others are obviously there just for the paycheck. I find that this store runs of of things often. That irritates me to no end! When I actually go to Walmart, I go for specific items and I stock up. If they're out, I'm ticked. Visit the restroom at your own risk, it could be a disaster. There's just such a volume of people, it's hard to keep it spic and span. Staff in the electronics department are often useless. A little training in the department would go a long way. We've had a couple of good people helping us from time to time, but as a whole, it could be a lot better. Don't go there and expect good advice or knowledge, do your own research first. All in all, this is a Walmart. You get what you get. read more

We were shopping for a computer at another Walmart. The only one they had in stock of the model we wanted was opened box and re-taped. We asked if the associate could check another store for us and he called the Chambersburg store. The phone rang and rang and he had to be patched back to electronics over and over again and still got no answer. When we got to the Chambersburg Walmart, there were 6 associates hanging out in the electronics department (so nobody could answer the phone?). Same issue with this computer, the box was open (but the original tape was still somewhat in tact). My husband went to ask an associate if they had more in stock as we really didn't want the open box. The first associate threw her hands in the air claiming to not know computers and pointed to three other associates for him to try. One of those she pointed to was counting money with her manager and he didn't want to interrupt. The other associate was chatting with what seemed to be a friend of his. The final associate he saw was the dept manager. My husband walked up to him and he was talking to his assistant manager about inventory and "getting dinged" for improper handling of an iPad sale. They continued to talk shop while he stood there and waited and waited and waited... Finally, another associate came over, took the spider wrap off the PC and let us look to ensure the contents were still wrapped and untouched. This associate was the saving grace of our trip. As soon as she approached my husband suddenly EVERYBODY wanted to help us. So, two stars for the fact that we did eventually get to buy what we came for and the one associate who happened to remember customers spend money and when you help them they spend more. read more

The Pickup at this Walmart is the worst pickup and customer service experience of my life. I placed the order to be picked up between 3-4pm and at 3pm got a text from the store saying it wasn't quite ready yet but they'd text when it was ready. No big deal, I understand things get backed up. At 420pm they text and say everything is ready so we mark that we're on our way, arrive 15 minutes later, and mark that we've arrived and which spot we are parked in. It's now 620pm and our groceries still haven't been brought our despite being "ready" at 420. No one answered the pickup phone line so I went in to speak to customer service who told us that the took the phone off the hook because too many people were calling in. There were apparently multiple call offs for pickup department and no one was pulled from other departments to make up for it. We've now been given a "half hour guarantee" for getting our groceries, but even if that guarantee is kept I doubt I, or any of the other 20+ cars waiting for pickup, will be using this service again. read more

I love any Walmart. Chambersburg is perfectly acceptable. Employees are always helpful if you ask. I am an expert at prices. There is no way you can do better. Customer service is excellent on legitimate returns. I have to agree the restrooms are disgusting. For such a busy store, maintenance should be continuous. Well, Yesterday I went to Walmart and I printed out some photos and when i was paying for them..they were charging me 6 extra pictures and i told the cashier she was charging me 6 pictures extra. She just laughed at me and said "Its just a dollar and a couple cents more" and she didnt want to give me them. So i went to Customer Service and got my money back and spoke with the Manager. Upon exiting the Chambersburg Walmart with my $155 worth of items, I was stopped at the door and told they needed to "check my receipt". I asked why and was told I had items that were not in bags. They act like you're a criminal and snoop through your stuff. I guess they thought a 5'5" 120 pound woman slipped a "24=96 pack" of toilet paper, 8 rolls of paper towels, and 2 tubs of kitty litter under her coat and sneaked past the cashier. How ridiculous is this policy?!!! The employee that's paid to perform this duty could be put to better use cleaning up the sporting goods section, which is in total disarray. I'm done with Walmart. The store is dirty and messy, the employees are rude (especially at the deli counter), and other than the grocery area the product selection is poor. It's no wonder everyone shops on line and doesn't want to visit a brick and mortar store. read more

Sadly you just can't beat their prices. However whenever I can avoid going here I do. Checking out is painful. Self check area crowded with some kiosks not working usually and few regular registers open with long lines. Their return policy is great. But the pharmacy staff often seems tired, stressed and rude. When I have money in my pocket, I head to Target instead...I may pay a few more bucks but I have a more pleasing shopping trip overall at Target or Lowe's. read more

This Walmart, as far as Walmarts go, is simply OK. To start, Chambersburg Walmart is much larger than nearby locations in Shippensburg, Waynesboro, and Gettysburg, so that's something positive. Their grocery section is OK, but many items are consistently out of stock (this Walmart is ALWAYS busy). Their baked goods taste like they're made out of rubber, so I try and avoid them as much as possible. Walmart grocery prices are OK on most items, but a lot of the staples can be found at Aldi for a lower price. A lot of people buy their staples at Aldi and drive across the parking lot to Walmart for specialty items, so I must not be alone in assessing their prices. The electronics department is OK for your basic needs. Their health & beauty products are usually competitively priced, but they're usually the same price at Target (I'd rather go to Target). I like buying their plants during the summer, which is something Target does not carry. I've noticed that they're better about staffing the registers, so I give them credit for that. The lines used to be horribly long, but they're working to remedy that. For the necessities, Walmart is a decent place to shop, but don't expect too much atmosphere. read more

Walmart in Chambersburg PA, is a pretty decent store. Usually stocked well, well lit, with pleasant staff. However on my last few visits I've noticed at the exit, there are people checking your receipt against items in basket. I had this happen to me. Of course it all checked out, as I'm an honest person. I suppose it's from too much theft ? But at the same time it seems a bit degrading to the customer. I've had friends also complain about this check out system. I even asked the girl if she was security? And she replied yes. It's just puzzling that after shopping there for 15 yrs they suddenly start this. read more

I went to Chambersburg Wal-Mart to get paint. I stood there for 5 minutes till I finally saw a guy in a blue vest. Asked him if he could get me assistance at the paint counter. He said yes and I heard the page. I waited another 5 minutes and nobody came. So then I called customer service from my cell phone asking them to send someone to paint. Again, I heard the page and nothing. Waited another 5 minutes still nobody so I called customer service again saying I'm still waiting. She said I'm sorry and paged again. This time I waited another 2 minutes and decided it's not worth my time. As I was leaving I walked past electronics to see 3 guys standing around doing nothing but conversing. When I got the couple other things I needed, I looked over and and 3 ladies were standing over at the actual customer service doing nothing. Literally nothing. Then as we are leaving the store 3 more ladies are standing there by the carts doing nothing, but I couldn't get one dang person to wait in me in paint. Lesson learned. I got my swatch - will take it to a store that cares and get my paint there. Never again!!!! All it took was 1 of those people doing nothing being over there servicing that section of the store. Stopped at your wal-mart today to get some fresh deli foods. No macaroni salad, no chicken tenders. Had an associate that didn't know how to use the slicer. Sliced a pound of ham in eight slices and I asked for thin sliced. Poor experience! Come on Chambersburg Wal-Mart you USED to be the best one around. I saw shelves that were practically empty!
