The one star is not for the store it it's wonderful employees…read more One star is for buying a tray of inedible finger sandwiches. Let's just say, it was an off day. The meat sandwiches were fine, however the "salad" sandwiches were not good. They were very heavy on the chicken and egg salad. I brought them to 22 hungry college students; they are not picky. Worried the sandwiches would not be enough. After the class gathering, I looked at the tray of sandwiches. Hardly any were gone. I asked one of my students about eating the sandwiches, and reluctantly she told me that no one could eat any of the non-meat pieces. As I cleaned up the room, I noticed half of the garbage can filled with sandwiches. On my way home from Baton Rouge, I decided to give Breax Mart some feedback. I went to their website and sent a comment about my experience. That was the first week in November. Around January 1, I sent another. No response. No phone call to more information. Whomever monitors the comments did not do their job. i was not going to send them another message. I thought, "Maybe they'll read it here." My entire experience was not up to Breac Mart's usual standards.

I am truly enjoying having another grocery store down the road. This one moved into the old Laborie…read morelocation and has quickly landed on our list of top choices for grocery shopping. The price on the shelf is their price, PLUS they add a 10% surcharge at the end of the checkout (before tax) for their profit. I'm used to this concept so it's cool with me. The inside has been totally remodeled. The bakery and deli have been removed and a large wine/beer area, dump bins for deals, floor space for pallets of special buys and large purchases (like patio umbrellas), and clearance items. Produce is fresh and looks good. You never know what you might find in the front bins of "while they last" items. For example, I scored a great deal on cheap reading glasses, 25 sq ft of parchment paper ($1.39), next to a bin with chocolate covered cherries and another one with children & women's t-shirts for 91 cents. They carry brands we have had to go out of town to buy (Skinner pasta) and other local items I haven't seen. They don't have everything, but they have enough that I don't have to cross Lapalco or the GNO to get what I need. Hours are 7A-9P 7 days a week. When they first opened there was an abundance of cashiers; now they've pared it back to a reasonable number and the manager steps into a register as needed. No baggers; bag your own. There is a rewards program and digital coupons you can load on your phone. They focus a lot on their generic brands (Best Choice), which so far has been just as satisfying as the name brand. Our fav finds are the Pork Stuffing mix (compare to Stove Top) which has more flavor and is currently 85 cents/box. They also have an inexpensive brand of chip with a German-Style flavor - SO tasty! We also enjoy their brand of soda, which seems to have more carbonation. The only drawback so far is they haven't figured out what's selling and what's not, so it's a what's staying and what's going game right now. I also haven't figured out how/when they are restocking, but I don't think they have either. But we're a new state for them; they'll figure it out. Wide aisles and friendly staff. Their pharmacy is open 6 days a week and they were quick to answer my questions as well; they take most insurance. It's worth a visit - you might even get hooked. :)

The cashier didn't know what or how to proceed. She called a supervisor or someone up to the register. This person, blonde, bleached hair with a heavy accent, looked at it and "Is this a Humana card, we don't take that". How ignorant and rude and classless. I'm a grown woman, intelligent and have class, why in the name of anyone would I be using an insurance card to pay for groceries. I told her it's a Red Cross card!! She doesn't know her job, is not professional. Replace her.

There were only three on display: a light, vey light and a medium tone. The barcode was flawed on package so I got another package SHARTIA could scan. She ended up putting the wrong tone package in my bag. I didn't notice until I got home. I am visiting from out of town so I'm unfamiliar with the area.. I walked back to exchange it...only for Sharita or Tionne to sell me the same one I returned!! It was dark out and I trusted the two women to handle this exchange efficiently. I did not check package until I got back and was going through the return bag. As a customer, it find this small mishap to be quite unacceptable because it's an easy transaction that requires very little: Receipt or ID CC for exchange or refunds. It's not a major issue but it is important to ME because it shows lack of care and attention to detail... now I have to walk there yet AGAIN in the morning for this issue to be corrected. I am here on q business related trip so my time is very limited. I wasn't planning on an multiple trips to the store for mistakes that could have been prevented or resolved quickly. I wish I didn't have to write this negative review but perhaps I can bring to light the mindset of a customer who has an unsatisfactory experience not once but TWICE within the same evening and the overlooked same PRODUCT sale.
