I wasn't as impressed with the prepared foods area; it was much smaller than in my usual locations. Maybe that doesn't sell as well here. They had good selections of most everything else I needed. Rouses on Clearview Pkwy. Metairie. Went in for first time in 13 years. Was using a Red Cross card due to a fire. It's a Master Card which is usable anywhere. The cashier didn't know what or how to proceed. She called a supervisor or someone up to the register. This person, blonde, bleached hair with a heavy accent, looked at it and "Is this a Humana card, we don't take that". How ignorant and rude and classless. I'm a grown woman, intelligent and have class, why in the name of anyone would I be using an insurance card to pay for groceries. I told her it's a Red Cross card!! My go-to Rouses market which usually has most of my items in stock when "making groceries". This one is usually always stocked with all items and is clean without any clutter in the aisles. Staff are always welcoming as well. The florist, deli and bakery section are pretty good which all staff are attentive and helpful. This location can get really busy when checking out in which you could be like the 7-8th person in line though. Thankfully, I haven't really encountered any nonsense with the checkout lines and I'm usually never in a rush. Definitely can't go wrong coming here if you need some groceries. read more

Beware Ripoff Rouses. I needed some frozen shrimp. Found some shrimp that were not marked. 5 lb bag frozen. I asked the seafood clerk how much? I don't know was his reply. Well I needed 20 pounds, so I said who puts the prices if not you? "The manager". "You have to go to the register in the front and get in line for a checkout to see the price. After I gave him a quizzical look, he volunteered to go check. I have trouble walking, so it would be a big deal for me. He came back and said $19.95. I said good price and had him get me 3 more. No rush now, I have my shrimp. Finished shopping and went to checkout. Register doesn't recognize the code. Tries a few times adding by keyboard. Finally get manager who comes back with $29.95. I told them what happened and they shrugged. "How many do you want?" $40 more than before. By now I'm out of time and need the shrimp. I won't make the same mistake twice. The Shrimp were so huge, is was easy to understand why they were .50 each with the head on. Things were like prawns. The new addition to the grab n go plates are the BBQ for $5.... But today in the middle of July the bakery is killing it. Fresh baked cookies. Orange crush, dr. Pepper, and 7up cakes. Blackout cake. Pineapple upside down cake. Chantilly cake, diverge, chocolate cream cheese, chocolate decadent and chocolate thunder. Red velvet, praline cake, black magic cake, creole strawberry, pecan carrot. If these taste as good as they look this place is on fire . In addition, the stuffed de-boned chickens are awesome. The trick is to SLOWLY defrost them. 45 min in the 375 oven wrapped in foil, then another 30 minutes with the foil split open. Would put Popeyes out of business- easily. And it's not even "fried", lol read more

Rouses has emerged as one of the Premier remaining local grocers in the area. They've invested quite a bit into their stores. I've resolved my issue with the firearms in a way that works for both of us and I quite enjoy shopping there again. It's ALWAYS clean and stocked. Went to a different rouses and was able to get the gold peak zero sugar in the 16 Oz bottles 6 in a pack , this rouses seems a best to only stock the large bottle like this but it's refrigerated, the non refrigerated no matter the size it seems they are is out of stock , but this is just one example. read more

Just had a horrific experience at Rouses on clearview. I run into the store to grab two items my probiotic drink and sushi. I get both items no issues and super happy I found a sushi made with everything I wanted!!!! Only one left, so I take it. I walk to the cashier at lane 6 around 6:45pm tonight. I'm waiting in line realize I'm gonna be a dollar short. Tell the cashier be right back gotta grab a dollar out my truck. I walk fast to the truck, grab my dollar walk fast back into the store walk straight to lane 6. I get there and the cashier basically laughing at me telling me the manager Riachard took my items said "restock". I finally find this Richard and he said she said restock. I was gone for 30-40 seconds she said he said does not work with me. This was a horrible customer service ever had at a grocery store. I had to buy food tonight that was not planning on nor as good as originally picked out. They basically both had smiles on there faces!!!!! I'll make an effort not to shop with rouses ever again, or as less as possible!!!!! Maybe this was do to my tattoos and they thought I was not coming back idk but very odd!!!!! All Riachard said at the end was "they said it was restock" who is they ? And why so fast when the cashier was told coming right back!!! I walked out the door Richard took my stuff because "they" "She" said restock bottom line not professional. He did not offer to help another employee jumped in was like what did you have ? I like frequenting this particular location as they always seem to have the freshest products and plus with the size of the store it's not too large which makes it feel like a small home town grocery store. Employees are very welcoming and always willing to assist whenever needed. When it comes to park there is no shortage whatsoever. read more

You walk into this Rouses and it is easy to understand why the small wine stores are having a hard go of it. The wine section is just to the left as you enter, basically next to the flowers, and it is hard to ignore. Unless you are looking for a top end bottle, the selection is decent. Not only was there the usual major corporation chain labels, the was a fair selection of smaller wineries from California. Makes life easy to pick up a dozen roses and a good bottle wine. read more

My lovely wife surprised me some boiled shrimp from Rouses. I am bedridden and she is my caregiver so time permitting she bought what was available. Unfortunately, they were the worst I have ever had. Most of the shrimp were extremely small. The order was over cooked and mushy. Also very little seasoning. I do not know what they were thinking selling this to customers that are experienced seafood eaters. My experience and advice says DO NOT BUY BOILED SHRIMP FROM ROUSES!!! read more

The selection at this market was pretty solid all the way around. It didn't have self-checkout and doesn't quite have enough people working so an unnecessary wait can be expected. However, the price and selection is excellent, and I have no trouble finding all sorts of healthy things. When I eat out, I indulge, but for my groceries I want plant-based protein, which they do a good job of having. The location here is quite central and crowded, but there is an extra traffic light in front of the store so you can get out during rush hour. read more

This is a badass grocery store. I don't do the bulk of my shopping here, but I definitely stop in at least once every couple of weeks for the "single girl special" - a bottle of wine and some grocery store sushi. If you're awesome like me, I suggest the longhorn roll (insert adolescent innuendo here). It's delicious: tempura shrimp, cream cheese, spicy tuna, crab salad across the top, with slices of fresh jalapeno across the top. And, it's filing enough for a party of one (innuendo #2 here). I also enjoy the cheese section. This is where I stop when I am having an "I'm fabulous-and-single-in-a-sex-in-the-city-kind-of-way-and-all-the-single-ladies-are-coming-to-my-house-for-a-wine-and-cheese-party" mood. They have all sorts of nice cheeses. On the weekends, being that it's Rouses and all, you can get a nice buzz walking through when the wine ladies are passing out their wares. I am a huge fan of Rouses as a company & have been since they started popping up in & around Baton Rouge. I was elated when I moved to Metairie to find this location mere minutes from my home. To my disappointment this location does not meet the expectations or standards I had become accustomed to. I personally would not ever shop at this particular Rouses because I only went in their to talk to the manager so I can be interviewed for the job. And the women that were behind the service counter was very rude and had nasty attitudes. They both ignored me when I was asking them can I see the hiring manager and made me wait while they were talking to each other then when we're finished talking one of them turned to me and started assisting me and told me that I had to wait for the manager for 30-45 minutes and so I just left. I go to this grocery store often, I like it a lot. It is not one of the newer Rouses, but I like it anyway. The people are really friendly. The layout is good. The products and the variety are good. It's pretty rare that I don't find something on my list in this Rouses! I've recently especially liked The "deli to go" options. Meat and cheese are pre-sliced each day and put out by the deli. I much prefer this Rouses over any Winn Dixie, although my wallet says different. However, you pay for better products, less lines and better wine selection. That produce is what draws me in every time and you can order the "Gentilly" cake here and it is the exact same as the Chantilly cake! Have shopped at this location since they first opened. The produce is the best, always a wide selection and fresh. I love to BBQ and their meat department is awesome. They make their own fresh sausage and the green onion sausage is awesome. They probably have over 1,000 different bottles of wine and their beer selection is one of the best. The only drawback is sometimes there isn't enough cashier's, so the lines can get long. Overall, it's a great store to shop at. read more

I happen to live near two different Rouses. This location is definitely the better of the two. While both stores have the same sales (Pick 5 deal on the meat!), the Clearview Rouses has a little bit of a better selection. The extra selection of ramen noodles (including some "premium" ones) appeals to the bachelor in me. The expanded salad bar and hot plate lunches speak to the lazy cook in me. While Rouses may not have the specialized selection of Whole Foods or the Old Metairie charm of Dorignac's, but the prices are certainly better on my budget. read more

South Clearview store. I am in this store practically every day and for the most part love going there; however, this store is starting to lack in certain departments. The boiled shrimp are soft, overcooked, mushy and hard to peel unless one certain employee boils them. The hot bar is starting to leave a lot to be desired. On the weekends there is no fried chicken on the hot bar because it is fried, placed 8 pieces in a container and put under a heat lamp for prepared foods. The hot bar is supposed to be available at 4:00 pm and when you go at 4:15 pm it is either almost empty or the food is dried up. I went twice last week and found no fried chicken on the hot bar. When I asked about it I was told that there was none because the morning shift didn't do what they were supposed to do so everything was running very late. Today I went and found no fried chicken on the hot bar and was told that because of football season fried chicken is only being put under the heat lamp where the prepared foods are. I only wanted a couple of pieces and not a pack with 8 pieces in it. What really made matters worse was that an employee had just taken chicken out of the fryer so I asked if she could put a couple of pieces in a container and I was told no because it was to be put in containers for the heat light area. I don't know what was so hard about taking 2 pieces of chicken, putting it in a container and then putting the rest on the heat lamp area. I attempted to locate a store manager and was told that she was gone for the day. This really disturbs me since there are lots of seniors that shop at this location daily and depend on the hot bar for their meals. They certainly don't want to buy 8-110 pieces of chicken when they are only wanting a couple of pieces in addition to some veggies from the hot bar. I was so upset about this and more so because of the attitude of the employee that I'm seriously thinking about starting to shop somewhere else since there are several supermarkets near me. read more

Rouse's was of course a new discovery over the past couple months upon our move to Metairie. Our love for the prepared meat section will be the area that brings us back pretty regularly. When we had our first visitors from California, we wanted to create a few home meals that would leave a lasting impression and had the flavor of New Orleans. THANK GOODNESS for Rouse's super friendly meat lady who recommended the sausage stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon in conjunction with the clearanced boudin balls and alligator sausage! The breakfast we prepared on our newly garage sale bought china with the complex flavors of these morsels that made angels sing quietly impressed us more than anything, but more vocally made the visitors yearn for our far away home. read more
