Love Aldi, but this one is a little rough. Normally Aldi are known for their very German standards with everything being in order neat and clean. Maybe it's because we visited on a saturday? It was all a little rough, empty shelves, empty boxes, things on the floor- including trash. We might give it another try on a weekday to be fair. We do love aldi, just maybe not this one?

Was so excited to come here. Never been to an Aldi and have heard great things. The prices are cheaper but this place is brand new and it looks very run down and picked through. It was already dirty and it's also not that big. I get Walmart neighborhood supermarket vibes here. I might be back to give it a few more tries but it's not that close to my house to want to go here all the time. Trash outside, carpet dirty, no one working here. Seems very lack there of. Also bring your own bags! It costs .12 per brown paper bag to use theirs and the bags rip VERY easily.

Sparse -- like an empty warehouse. Few choices. Not worth the small saving on what they do have.

I'm really VERY sad to have learned that Becnel Farm will be closing their Plaquemines Parish…read moreroadside farm produce stands and also end their farming. This farm has been operating in their current location since 1850. There simply isn't anything that will be able to replace the experience you could have here not to mention nowhere else seems to have boiled peanuts anywhere close to as good as the ones they offered here. This location of their roadside farm produce stand is probably the nearest of the several Becnel fruit stands/markets to the actual farm as it is pretty much on the farm with all the citrus trees around it. They have some general selection of fresh produce and locally produced food items as the other locations but it is nice to see where a lot of the citrus and other produce originates from. This is a nice little road trip to take and see some of the rural areas outside of the urban spaces of Greater New Orleans. I've had the privilege of having all my lifetime 'til now being able to enjoy Becnel farms produce stands and I don't know how to even envision a future where they no longer exist. I've gone through the loss of so MANY of the wonderful and unique things the New Orleans area offered for so many generations that my heart grows heavier with each loss of the wonderous things that are now gone with the wind & tragically ain't dere no more...

They had some small satsumas (also in short supply this year). But the standouts were fall crop tomatoes and a gorgeous large cauliflower. The tomatoes were perfect for Thanksgiving day and I made a caprese salad for the table. And I roasted the cauliflower with olive oil, salt, pepper and parmesan... then dressed with a little lemon juice and parsley. DELICiOUS! I did not find my kumquats and the prices were higher than I expected but the quality was excellent so I'm not complaining. Small stand just before the Belle Chasse Bridge in a shell lot!

This location was historically an open-air market, but was completely renovated with overhead doors that can be closed in inclement weather. They have more space, and more pleasant shopping conditions (especially during summer). Southside Produce isn't a farmers market, but they do sell local produce whenever available. When I was in today, they were showcasing local cauliflower, but also had some beautiful fresh Brussel Sprouts from a farm in California. Their fresh produce is always fresh and high quality regardless of its source. Another amazing area they have is the extensive frozen produce aisle. These include virtually every type of frozen vegetable and fruit. I also noted a selection of local meat products in the coolers, these included quite the selection of sausages! In the preserved products, Southside also has you covered. They have their own brand of pickled, jellied, and preserved foods of all sorts. They also sell other name brands. They have syrups and oils, and other similar products. This is an area that's expanded over the years, and is now quite extensive. Then there are the other products that one can find there. These include things like a significant selection of dried beans and rice, local bread products from a number of bakeries, and cypress furniture. In the right season, you can buy fruit trees to plant in your yard or garden. In all seasons, I recommend Southside as a great place to buy healthy and interesting houseplants. I am always amazed by their selection. Service is always great as well. Normally, one need only take their selections to the counter in the center to be rung up. Their registers accept all modern forms of payment including tap to pay (min $4 on credit cards though). If you need any other help, they will be glad to provide it. Everyone seems cheerful and pleasant. I've been going to Southside Produce for decades now. I felt it was overdue to write a review. It's one of those great Baton Rouge places that you need to visit on a regular basis. I stop by often when I'm in the area.

Tucked inside is their bánh mì spot--the Vietnamese po-boy--and baby... it's a staple. Open daily, and you'll usually catch the same sweet older woman back there faithfully whipping out sandwiches like clockwork. It's something about that consistency and care that just hits different. They're under new management now and the space got a little upgrade, so I'm not sure if everything is exactly the same menu-wise, but my go-to has always been the one with meatballs--and I ALWAYS add extra pâté. That pâté? Don't skip it. The bread is exactly what it needs to be. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside... not too hard, not too soft. Perfect balance. Prices went up just a little, but honestly? For about $7, you're getting a full, loaded sandwich that eats like a meal and then some. Still one of my favorite quick eats. Every time I'm in there, I'm grabbing one.

This is a vegan paradise, as they have my beloved tofu skin (yuba), soy curls, all the tofu varieties you could ever want and a variety of fake meats, wheat gluten goodies and even vegan jerky. Prices are impressively low. It's been over 10 years since my last review and the market has grown so much. We spent an hour in here today and noticed they have a good sake collection, as well as Asian beers. Boba/tapioca pearls, teas, coffees, spices, desserts... an entire aisle devoted to soup bases, noodles, dried mushrooms! Pinch me, because I think I'm dreaming. I'm in hot chile heaven. There was one thing that my husband wanted that we couldn't find. One of the sweetest ladies at the cash register tried her best to help, even with a slight language barrier we were able to show her the product (dried bonito flakes). She showed him dried squid but that wasn't quite the same thing. I think they have less Japanese products, not really a big deal at all. We so appreciated her kind efforts. Bonus: the cute statue collection by the entrance! Buddhas, lucky cats... even Hello Kitty herself is represented. Consider this market for unique gifts. They even sell Cafe du Monde coffee!

I first learned about this great service because they are partnered with Crescent City Farmer's Market to bring boxes from their purveyors. I had a box delivered a couple of Fridays ago. I knew it would be on a Friday (ordered on Tuesday, I think) and they called me midmorning and told me when to expect the box. Then the delivery person called and said they would be at my house in a few. The box was left at my front door and was chock full of amazing fruits and vegetables and even some backed goods. This week I'm going with the combo box which will have both fruit and veggies. If the box you want says sold out or not available. Then try again next week, they only take a specific number of orders per delivery day for their boxes. When we're not in a pandemic, they deliver to community partners and that's where you pick up. This helps get fresh food to areas without grocery stores and can help get discounts via bulk buying. I'm so grateful for this service right now!

He was very nasty to me, extremely rude and disrespectful. After I called him to tell him that I didn't appreciate his attitude and the manner by which he spoke to me, he apologized but the damaged was already done. Some folks I know won't patronize him anymore because of his behavior and rotten fruits and vegetables. So, last year, we purchased their mustard greens for $20 a case. So, I went in today to ask if the greens are still $20 a case and he went off like a mad man. He yelled and said, "Ma'am, I know you never bought mustard greens here for $20 a case and I don't believe you just said that to me." With this loud and obnoxious voice, he kept running his mouth, so I walked in the back to talk to the more sensible person, his wife. I asked his wife and she said yes, they were $20 a case last year but prices have increased to $36 a case. That's all the idiot had to say. Everyone knows that Hurricane Ida all but demolished their establishment so prices were probably increased for repairs. A simple, prices have increased GREATLY from last year would've sufficed. It was doing okay when Leo was the person managing this store for his parents, who are the owners. Now Leon is gone and his brother is working the store. This place had problems before, but now on top of having very bad business hours, no online marketing, is now having bad customer service, empty shelves where the food is still in boxes next to the shelves. Lots of food is expired, but I have to give kudos to the current manager, because he did warn me about the date and I didn't get the mayo. Thanks for that! Not a lot of items, but since Leon is gone it is even less. They used to have tvorog, pelmeni, even baked goods like Oreshki...it is all gone now. Nothing to go shop for anymore, since most of the items this store carry I can get online for probably same or even less price. Store not working on Sunday and Monday don't really care for doing good in my opinion. I understand about not having money to hire somebody, but that is the business. I wish somebody would buy this business and revamp it. People living on Northshore come there to shop, so the demand for this store is high, but current owners don't care about their business unfortunately.
