The one star is not for the store it it's wonderful employees. One star is for buying a tray of inedible finger sandwiches. Let's just say, it was an off day. The meat sandwiches were fine, however the "salad" sandwiches were not good. They were very heavy on the chicken and egg salad. I brought them to 22 hungry college students; they are not picky. Worried the sandwiches would not be enough. After the class gathering, I looked at the tray of sandwiches. Hardly any were gone. I asked one of my students about eating the sandwiches, and reluctantly she told me that no one could eat any of the non-meat pieces. As I cleaned up the room, I noticed half of the garbage can filled with sandwiches. On my way home from Baton Rouge, I decided to give Breax Mart some feedback. I went to their website and sent a comment about my experience. That was the first week in November. Around January 1, I sent another. No response. No phone call to more information. Whomever monitors the comments did not do their job. i was not going to send them another message. I thought, "Maybe they'll read it here." My entire experience was not up to Breac Mart's usual standards. read more

I was stalking a particular product that Breaux Mart was carrying so after they were sold out at the Magazine location, I tried the River Ridge one. I had not been inside this store in a few years but wow! It looks great. I remember being in this shop pretty regularly way back in the day and so my memory was that it was a little run down. But not anymore! And this has to be the largest of the Breaux locations. Recently I've been to the Magazine and Severn locations and this one is maybe 2x the size! The staff was friendly and checkout and pricing were easy/good. Of course, they were also sold out of the specialty item I was looking for... but that's on me for taking too long to get to the store. Breaux Mart is a small local grocery store. Prices are comparable to other grocery stores and if you hit a sale you may just get a big bargain. They have a hot food bar and a salad bar that looks really good and is 7.99 a pound. #notimetocook The vegetables and fruit look fresh and are displayed very nicely. The fall and Halloween decorations are really nice this time of year. #gotobreauxmart There is a nice deli also with a variety of meat and cheese. Breaux Mart has been our neighborhood grocery for years now. Even with the new competition down the street, it is the store we go to for the weekly shopping or just popping in for a quick purchase. They did respond to the competition. The store has been remodeled inside and out and there has been some changes to the products they stock. One big plus for me is that I seldom have a long wait in line. The store is clean. They always have a fair amount of help in store. It is locally owned, not a national chain. read more

Grabbed about 13 fried shrimps, wasn't sure how fresh they are as I walked to the back from the alcohol section. Thought it would be wise to try a shrimp before spending my money. So I did. I opened it up and tried a shrimp. As I did someone called out to my attention and said don't eat them before you buy em. Which he quickly assumed I was going to consume all my shrimp before purchasing. Which I could have buyed them all and threw em in the trash because the manager to my surprise was him and had an attitude about a shrimp. They were not fresh and was only warm because of the heating element. But I was going to pay for them anyway until I was approached in a rude manner. So instead of paying for them I walked to the front and told the service desk the quality wasn't up to par. First time walking in this location. How sad. They throw everything away when it's not fresh anyway. Pathetic read more

Near my home, there are 3 supermarkets Winn Dixie, Langensteins, and Breaux Mart. I prefer to go to Breaux because of the service and prices. read more

Our Breaux Mart in River Ridge is the best! They go over and above in customer service. Their produce is fresh and their deli and bakery are awesome. All at really great prices. The staff especially are so wonderful to our Senior community members, with a weekly Senior shoppers only time during the Covid pandemic. Decent enough store. Clean and well laid out. A bit small and the prices are a bit higher than Rouses and quite a bit higher than Walmart. Stopped by last night for a Bourbon tasting for The Girly and it was a mess inside. They didn't set up the event too well so the entire front of the store at the doors was PACKED with people waiting for the drawings. read more

Breaux Mart is a small local chain of grocery stores. The stores are small but have a decent variety of produce and alcoholic beverages. The River Ridge store also has a decent salad/ hot food bar with wings, fried seafood, and baked catfish for $7.99 a pound. (The seafood signs on the hot bar stated that none of the seafood was from China). The staff is nice and the store well kept and clean. The outside is is designed with the French quarter feel with a balcony and an outdoor on ground eating area. read more

This is one of my favorite Grocery stores in the city! Unlike all the other crappy grocery stores around, this place has wonderful selection on local foods. If you are looking to make gumbo,jambalaya,and other cajun dishes this store carries the best ingredients for the job. Also the prices on a lot of items were very reasonable. I love this store because they are always fully stocked and offer you options that the big brand stores don't offer. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I have recently found that this location has started carrying Wild game sausage which I love and are always looking for new way the cook them. There are always more then enough l registers open where you don't have a long wait. read more

Breaux Mart will always be Breaux Mart. It reminds me of the grocery stores I grew up with in Southeast Texas. Places like Gerland's or Market Basket. Bigger than mom n' pop shops but smaller in this big box age. Nothing special per se about this grocery but they did eek out another star from me for a total of 4 as after Katrina they re-opened relatively quickly and kept the inventory (read: ice) coming. The rudest manager I've ever had the displeasure of coming in to contact with. He wouldn't give me the time of day.

Their hot bar is pretty good but not maintained after 6. Don't expect to have the same availability at 6:30 that you would have at 4:30. I would go back though. read more

Quality and prices are reasonable. The pre-made meals always fresh and tasty (crawfish monica is delicious). However the teenage cashiers are rude and disrespectful. Had one boy play with a fidget spinner the entire time we was scanning the groceries and had another blatantly dismiss me and turn around when I ask a question. I used to live in River Ridge and go to Breaux Mart in the morning after work sometime. I guess it was Ok for the most part, the older employees were Ok but it seemed like the teenagers were a little on the "smart ass" side, with their little blue knit shirts. Clean store, pretty good selection, not too crowded. I started going there more often after I went to the Winn Dixie down the street one morning and saw a kid hauling around a big pile of garbage, in huge leaking, grimy bags, using the same shopping cart you use for groceries. The food and salad bar has some of the best fried catfish I have ever had. It's worth the stop if you are in the area to try a couple of pieces of catfish. Yesterday for lunch I stopped and purchased two pieces and it cost $1.87 with tax. I brought it home to enjoy with so white beans the I had left over. Yummy. read more

I love Breaux Mart. I always see quality beef and meats and the butcher is always walking around in the meat department. When was the last time you saw a 5 pound Chuck roast? A real Chuck roast not some other thing? The selection is also amazing given their hometown market niche. One more comment about the meat...... the steaks are always clearly labeled "USDA Choice" when they're choice. I wish them well and hope they continue to get discerning customers and keep up the good work. read more
