The facility is fine and most of the employees are nice and helpful. The only irritation i have with the place is a particular man who acts very sexist. There have been multiple occasions where i had to encounter him to receive my goods and he is just rude and very dismissive. I have asked him a question about product in the store in the past and he looked at me as if i had a leg growing from my head and completely ignored me. Very hard to communicate with and horrible customer service skills. Normally, whatever. It's to the point where he's too damn rude and inconsiderate to the customers there--i had enough. Hopefully he has some respect for his co-workers! read more

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at your Mt airy 2551 on11/8/2024 During my visit, I encountered a cashier who was exceptionally rude and unprofessional, which made my shopping experience unpleasant. The cashier with name tag of Sharon was dismissive when I asked a question," "rolled her eyes and spoke to me in a condescending tone did not acknowledge me as a customer I understand that everyone can have an off day, but this level of disrespect is unacceptable in any customer-facing role. I kindly request that you look into this matter and take appropriate steps to ensure that all customers are treated with respect and courtesy. I have been a loyal customer of Walmart for over 15 years and this experience has unfortunately made me reconsider my future visits because I also spoke to several staff members that said they were from management and none of them have contact me back in regards to this shameful incident at their location. I like that Walmart conveniently has household items I need every now and then! The store hours are great!

This store has gone downhill the last few years. Rude employees if you can find any. Long lines and rarely anymore than 2 registers open. The parking lot is littered with potholes. Some of these potholes are in disabled parking. I've let the management know several times and they claim they can't do anything about it. Save yourself the headache and shop elsewhere. read more

If I could score this location a zero, I would. At self-checkout, I'd realized a produce item's barcode was damaged, so I tried to get the attention of the "helper" for self check out. Instead of assisting me, I was belittled and spoken to like I was an idiot, in front of other customers, and my child. The worst Walmart I have been to. The aisles are small and you have a bunch of entitled Karens blocking the aisle. These Karens are not looking where they're going and think they can do whatever the hell they want. I have been at lots of Walmart (most of them pretty crowded, but it's Walmart), but I'll take those over thing piece of crap. The self checkout line is always long. I have been a regular shopper here for 20 years. When I worked from home it was the highlight of my day, I'd pick up a few items as a break from work. But now I'm anxiously waiting for the Target to open in town. The reason? As a shopper who pops in for a handful of items a few times a week I rely on hand baskets. For years this store had few, I found myself hunting the checkout lines for an empty basket. I should not have to do that every time I visit this store. Now I don't even bother as I can't even find them there. I now shop at the Walmart in Frederick. I was told the reason is customers steal the baskets. Well I'm pretty sure the Food Lion or the Walmart in Owings Mills has the same issue but they simply purchase more as a service to their customers. This manager is obviously not interested in this so I'll shop elsewhere. Such a shame, I was there so often people working their recognized me and said hi. Not anymore. read more

I bought a laptop here and needed to return it. When I took it back they accused me of pulling a sticker off it. They said it should have some sticker on it and that was missing. I told them I bought it from Walmart a few days ago and only had if on one time. They would only give me store credit so now I have to go buy hundreds of dollars of Walmart stuff since I can't have my money back. I'll use the store credit because I have too, but I wont go to the Mt Airy location. And I will NEVER buy anything expensive or electronic from any Walmart again. Perfect store and location for anything I need. The store always has whatever item I need in a convenient location. My son needed new shoes and my daughter needed makeup, and walmart had both! It's always clean and the workers are so nice. Favorite spot when i need something! read more

The checkout bagging in the spinning bag holder is terrible. We are always missing purchases when we get home if we purchase a large amount of items, like school supplies. When you are watching kids it would be nice if the cashier could make sure you leave with the bags they packed instead of some bags being left in the spinning bag holder. It is hard to see what bags have items sometimes when they put a few small items in a bag. Why does this happen to our family so often. read more

I know I'm stating the obvious, but the Mt. Airy Walmart is much better in terms of congestion, customer service and organization than the one in Germantown. It's worth the trip. Is there a politically correct way to say this? Kudos to Walmart for employing persons with disabilities. I hope that they have employment opportunities at all levels of their organization. The staff were very helpful in locating products-- batteries, gardening gloves, etc. Prices were "Walmart prices", generally the lowest around, and the selection was excellent. (Although the gardening gloves would have been cheaper for a 3-pack at CVS.) I totally hearted their gardening supplies and found a cute teacup-shaped pot for plants. I'll try to upload the picture when I get the chance. They also have a selection of canning supplies. Handy if I over-pick fruit and want to learn how to can. As the first reviewer, David, mentioned, the Auto Center seems really helpful. I got a quote on tires and plan to go back. read more

It is a shame that you have to give one star. I came to the Walmart to purchase a few items and return home on bedrest. After waiting in the outrageously long line to checkout, I noticed that two of my items were not the correct posted price. I finished checking out placed my other items into my vehicle to avoid being accused of stealing anything. Came back into the store and obtained pictures of the several identical items with the correct posted price tag located under them. The price tag says exactly what I purchased; therefore, I went to customer service to have the price properly adjusted. Micah proceeds to cut me off and tell me that the items were moved. He spoke very condescendingly to me as if I had moved them. Then, he raises his voice when I show him the picture and touches my phone claiming the pictured items were not the same. He is joined by Jon, who at the same time proceeds to tell me that the tag is for another item. I show them that the tag and the items are identical. Micah storms off saying very disrespectful things and voicing his stereotypical opinions of me as he goes off to tell another employee his problem with me. I ask for a Manager of the store and Jon states he is one of the Managers. He claims you can only get one for the correct price. I returned both and reported my issues to corporate. After, having to walk all the way back to where the items were and the Manager saw that the items were identical to the price tag but states I can get one then for the price because someone moved them. The tag is identical to the item but they are trying to claim the item is in the incorrect place. The Manager moves item besides the items I purchased, but leaves those items still in the same place. I do not know whether I was suppose to fall for that trick of moving the items besides the items that I purchased and leaving the items I purchased where they are because they are in the correct place. I will shop elsewhere because this Walmart is the worse at customer service, being respectful of others, and having products available (stocking the store; shelves are mostly bare). They treat disabled veterans and people of color with such disrespect. The Store Manager was there listening and never corrected either one of the employees' behavior. I do not believe they realize that if more people shop online to avoid this treatment, then they will not have jobs. read more

Inventory is rarely replenished on anything other than clothes. Good luck finding a department manager or ANYONE that can help or knows anything about the store. Waited an hour at the sporting goods counter even AFTER asking someone for help. Store is in disarray but comes with plenty attitude. This is a management problem. Plain and simple. The brown stinky rolls up hill and this store is no exception. I used to work at a Walmart in FL. The manager was always out stocking shelves, cleaning, helping customers, making sure the store was running properly and the customers were attended to. I've lived here for 5 years and haven't seen the manager once. Drive the extra 25 minutes and go somewhere else. read more

This Walmart is a pretty standard store. The grocery selection is limited but they have the essentials. The aisles are cramped and the store layout doesn't really make sense. Also, in standard Walmart fashion there are like 20 employees wandering around the store but only 1-2 registers open so be prepared to wait a bit in line. read more

Let's start by saying that they care more about the floor and how it looks than if you're able to get what you need and get out. This isn't once in awhile its everytime I go there after leaving work usually 4 or 5 am. They block off aisles and then they get this attitude if you need something off one closed off. Last guy stopped his floor machine and tells me dont cross rope again and get on floor no please or can I help you and this isn't the first time or I wouldn't be doing this review. So I politely told him what he could do with his rope and his floor and the cart of groceries I had. Employees are not helpful friendly and maybe its because I'm in there at that time of the morning instead of during day but if you want respect you got to give it so I will never ever give Walmart another cent of my money and personally I would be overjoyed if they went bankrupt and left town. read more

The store is very nice they do a good job taking care of it. The front end is super helpful along with being nice. I was easily able to find someone to help me find my product. I shop here a lot now because how how easy it is to find everything and how uncrowded it is. The only concern is the head manager he is never there when me or people I have spoken to ask for him. As Walmart's go this is one of the best locations. The aisles are usually well stocked, and the store is uncluttered, clean, and well organized. There is usually a good number of check-stands open so it doesn't take too long to get checked out. The employees are extremely helpful and very friendly. I only wish the Walmart in the community where I live was as good. The store in my neighborhood is awful and I avoid it at all costs - so I stop here on my way home. After getting horrible service at the Germantown Walmart auto service center for the second time I decided to try the one in Mount Airy. The Mount Airy auto service department was excellent. Debbie King the clerk behind the counter was outstanding. She went out of her way to make my battery purchase a very pleasant experience. I had a unique problem with my battery and she, Phillip the service manager, and the service technicians installing the battery handled the problem flawlessly. Needless to say the next time I need service to my car I will drive the extra 20 miles to get to the Mount Airy Walmart. I will never try the Germantown Walmart auto service department again. read more

The Auto Center crew is excellent. I went to get a battery. They did it right away and were very professional! The coolest part was the guy who through the battery in...while I shopped entered in my radio code so I did not have to do it. To me, that was quite cool! The customer experience was horrible. If I could give a zero rating I would. Walmart was unable to install tires I purchased from Wallmart.com and provided no compensation for making 3 separate trips without obtaining the service requested and having to pay more for the service somewhere else at another time. I ordered 4 tires from Wallmart.com and intended to have the tires installed at Walmart. After being turned away on Saturday and being told that they were not taking anymore install orders because it was backed up, I dropped my car off Sunday morning. I was called later and told they me they could not install the tires on my car because the machine would scratch the rims and there was no other option. They said the only option was to take the tires somewhere else to have installed. I asked for compensation and they said they would give a free oil change. When I went back I was given the tires back but no free oil change and I was not offered anything for the inconvenience. One of the main reasons why I bought the tires at Wall Mart was to take advantage of the low installation price. Walmart was unable to install tires that I purchased from Wallmart.com and did not advertise any possible issue or risk with installing tires purchased from Walmart.com. And they did not make any effort to make it right for customer. Don't waste your time with Walmart to save a few dollars. read more

I went to the automotive dept. to get a simple oil change and had to wait a good while there was no one at the counter. when the lady who was working that department finally showed up she had a terrible attitude, very unprofessional. 5 star reviews for the Mount Airy Walmart?! I think people need to get out more! This Walmart SUCKS. The selection is atrocious and sometimes it makes no sense at all as far as where to find items. If you have time to go on a scavenger hunt for stuff, check out this Walmart and make a day of it. If you are in a hurry and need to walk out of the store with what you need, go somewhere else. That being said, I don't want to dis the people working there. They really are very friendly and try to be helpful. I also applaud all they do in hiring people with disabilities. I haven't been to the Walmart in Germantown since finding out about this place... There's no fighting for parking; The isles are not filled with children playing and bumping into you; the departments are usually CLEAN and easy to shop in. They only lost one star because the customer service desk is always backed up with one person behind the desk. I usually have to wait 15+ minutes for anything at the desk. Other than that, the staff is friendly and this is an overall better Walmart. Drive the extra couple of miles to avoid the hassle of the Germantown Walmart. read more

My neighbor and i went to the Mt. Airy Walmart on Saturday, April 5th. I needed a few cleaning items. She found a spray stain remover that had a dollar off coupon on the bottle. We both decided to try it. When we got to the checkout the clerk said the coupon had expired and she could not override it but a manager could. After waiting several minutes a "manager" appeared and said she couldn't override it but another one could. When that woman appeared she said she couldn't and wouldn't override an expired coupon and was very rude about it. She took the coupons off the bottles. When asked about ones still on the shelves, she said she was going to remove them also. The point was we were at the checkout. Should she not have honored the coupon. My neighbor asked for the store manager and after I left the store (having paid full price for my spray bottle) the manager appeared and did honor the coupon. My major complaint is with the "clerk who was SO rude. They make a point in commericlals of matching pricing. Well, they dropped the ball on this one. read more

This Mount Airy Wal-Mart used to be a primary shopping spot. Over the past year, we have had increasing problems finding common items. I'll have 10 relatively common items on my shopping list and will only find 3 or 4. Today, for example, I went for the Blu-Ray of Disney's Planes. Not only did they not have it, but they had very few Blu-Ray titles at all. Most of the small video selection was DVD. I also went to buy a Lego playset. This store has an entire aisle dedicated to Lego, but 75% of the shelves were empty. Pizza crusts? No. Same with a few more items. It is difficult to find an employee walking around the store, and like many Wal-Marts, the store guarantees you will wait in the checkout line by using a minimum number of cashiers. There were relatively few shoppers there today, so of course, they closed most of their lines. I waited too long in the "20 items or less" checkout to purchase...pencils.
