Terrible service; looking for bag of planting soil. It was outside. I went to outdoor department and out of 3 assistants no one could tell me how to get the bag from outside so I could buy it. Got the run around and 2 assistants had trouble speaking English that they gave me their phone to translate. I'm not against other nationalities but there must be a better process for communication. Finally went to checkout and they just looked it up and charged me and told me to drive over to the pile of bags and grab one. Took almost 1 hr to get to that point. read more

I arrived at this Walmart to return an item that I had purchased at the east Walmart. The women at the service desk today (5/24/26) essentially accuse me of trying to return the incorrect product, said that it was too old or too dirty, I explained that I was a mechanic and that the device was not functioning. Well they said you did not even purchase it here.... Aren't all Walmart locations corporately owned? She said they're not all the same. The item was an ONN brand item, and she did not stand behind their own brain. I felt like she was accusing me of some sort of deception. She was disrespectful. I asked her for her name. So me and my friends were literally just sitting in some chairs we were GOING TO BUY -- and this Walmart worker had the nerve to tell us he thought we were lying. Like, excuse me?? Sorry we wanted to make sure the chairs were comfortable before spending our money here. The attitude was unreal -- acting like we were criminals for trying out furniture. Not to diss my home state, but you really haven't seen a bad Walmart until you've been to Florida. So, I must say that this Walmart, to me, is beautiful and wonderful, as far as Walmarts go. I have never had an issue here and have never had such a positive Walmart shopping experience as I have here. (Seriously... Go to Miami or Tallahassee Walmarts and then you'll see!) I haven't had problems with stock, item quality (I do research before purchasing unknown brands etc.), asking for help finding an item, or checking out. In fact, the check out is one of the easiest and fastest that I've ever had at a Walmart, with the friendliest clerks. I regularly come here for those Walmart items that are just so much cheaper here than elsewhere. I sometimes feel guilt afterwards because of the whole big-box store thing, but I guess I have found ways to work through it because I keep coming back! read more

I have been shopping and picking things up here for many years.. 2 weeks ago i had a pick up order.. Called spoke to a very very snippy women who left me on hold for 25 minutes.. I finally hung up and called back I asked for the manager.. A ruder awful man picked up the phone and told me I was in the wrong place and he would bring my order out.. He spent 5 minutes lecturing me about the pick up spots. The 3 signs indicating pickup were at floor level and attached to sticks.. Every spot had an empty car parked there.. He then threw my purchase through and open window in my car and walked away.. I called corp.. they could care less.. I will never ever shop here again.. Full disclosure. I'm not a Walmart fan. The west side location is, in my opinion, a dump. Whenever I go there it's busy (and I'm not just talking about Christmas shopping!). If it's not busy, there always seems to be someone wandering out into an aisle and stopping - for no real reason, but blocking all foot traffic. It's a frustrating place. While they've done a lot to improve the store - adding in food & produce notably - I'd still rather hit a Target or Costco for my needs. It's just crazy in the store, and I'd rather pay a little more to avoid that. Usually, the folks working checkout are very nice, and that's a positive way to end a typically frustrating run through the store. The second star in the rating is because they carry 5-quart jugs of oil for my car. There are even some car-centric stores that don't do that. At least not the oil I need, which is not uncommon. So, a couple times a year I suck it up and dive into my local Walmart to grab my oil supplies and whatever else I might need while there. Otherwise I avoid it if I can. read more

I was just there today 04/28/22 around 11:41am using the self check out kiosk. I was paying for my groceries, when I noticed a young man having issues with his card. I was going to buy him the jacket he was trying to purchase as an act of kindness. I asked the young man if he would like me to purchase the jacket. Of coarse he politely declined. No problem, of coarse I insisted because I know some people may feel embarrassed and I really wanted to purchase the jacket for him, especially if he really needed it. I do not know this young man's financial situation and it is cold outside. I was going to the register he was just at when "Lucy" a Walmart employee says so rudely and condescending to me " He said, he doesn't want it!" She proceeds to go to go over to the registered as I am about to grab the jacket and scan it, when she gets in front of me and grabs the jacket keeping me from scanning the jacket!! Never in my life have I encountered this kind of rudeness, to literally keep me from purchasing an item at Walmart! Why did she care anyways?! It wasn't coming out of her pocket! Thanks Lucy, for not allowing me to complete my act of kindness with your act of rudeness! Talk about horrible customer service talking down to customers and blocking them at check outs doesn't scream employee of the month! This Walmart (7202 Watts Road, Madison, WI 53719) is a very nice store with almost anything your are looking for. It has an excellent Pharmacy, Photo Center, Vision & Glasses Department, Coinstar, key making in the sports department, Minute Key machine etc. Excellent garden center. The store is very clean and organized. The shelves are always stocked and item are always available. Excellent location just off beltline highway. Easy to get to. Many registers always open. Can get congested at times at registers depending on time of day but normally short wait times at registers. Also love that they have self checkout registers. Prices are very reasonable with excellent quality and super exchange/return policy. The bathrooms are very clean and maintained. Above all, the employees are exceptional. They are helpful, friendly, courteous, helpful, and very knowledgeably...they are great! Great job Walmart and staff!!! Has a SUBWAY®Restaurant in the store which is very clean, well maintained, and has excellent/very friendly employees. Always fresh subs, meats, vegetables, like all Subway Subs I have visited. read more

Never fail, my shopping at Walmart West on Watts Road is ALWAYS a pleasant happy experience. There always seems to be a friendly available associate in every department, always happily offering assistance without my even asking. Checking out is also always a delight. Always plenty of checkers with minimal line waiting. I've noticed that the checkout staff are not only smiley, friendly and interactive with customers, they also are the same with their fellow comrades/coworkers, and generally seem to to be having fun and sincerely enjoying their job. Kudos to this Walmart's management/supervisors for their obvious awesome ability to promote a wonderful positive work experience for their staff/employees. It's Walmart. The pluses were that it wasn't insanely busy, there were multiple registers staffed, and it was clean. I avoided the bathroom so I can't tell you if that was okay, but a woman did walk out of them with a comfortable expression so I'm assuming her experience was decent. The cons. And I'm not comparing to other stores, simply to other Walmarts. This is a smaller location and has a smaller selection of items. The layout was also really off for me-the clothing section seemed to take up half the store, yet the few items I looked for that I know exist were not there. It also took a few laps for me to find what I needed. The patio/garden section was minuscule, but the associate in the area asked the three women (including myself if we needed assistance, so that's still a bit of a plus). It sounds like their associates were missing in action or ignore the speakers. As I walked past the fitting room I overheard an associate looking for a manager to pick up a phone call for Toys that had been on the line for 15 minutes. I heard the department paged a few more times, so I hope the person waiting had the patience of a saint or the store was stocked with a smooth manager. Either way, I managed to get the few items I needed and was out the door within fifteen minutes, an amazing feat for Walmart. I think it took longer to maneuver through the crazy parking lot. read more

I'm going to elaborate on why this is the dirtiest, crappiest Walmart. Many comment on its size. Remember this is an original Walmart. Not like the Supercenters. It appears they tried to put some groceries in this location to make it competitive with neighboring retailers. That wasn't a good idea... This location seems to attract a lot of not-so-great customers. Please don't yell at your family members in the store. This Walmart is not well kept what-so-ever. The parking lots needs refinishing, the interior could use a face lift. The merchandise needs to be reorganized. Why do you need to pack so much crap into a store? Go over to Target and take a few lessons from there store planners.... Avoid this location at all costs. Madison Area Walmart's tend to be poorly maintained. The combination of a crappy store and a not-so-desirable neighborhood. I'll stick with Target. read more

Would give 0 if I could. Picked up a Walmart.com pickup order and a 2 L of fruit juice missing when I got home. I called and the pickup employee said that means item not in stock, but I said no because there was no notification and the order indicates it was there. He said he would check and get back to me and call disconnected. He never called back either. I called store and after no manager. I went back to store and 5 employees just standing there talking. Manager (said she was) gave me attitude and said we are only human and make mistakes. I understand this and wasn't too angry at first until could get no one to answer home. The so-called manager said she never heard page, probably because she was too busy talking. I should be compensated for gas and time. I told manager that orders should be checked before given to customer and signed off by employee. read more

No one is ever able to help you especially in the electronic department or they aren't knowledgeable at all. Only gave it a 2 star rating because we live close and if we need something we may come here out of pure desperation. Its a Walmart. They have pretty much most Walmarts do. Yes, this one doesn't particularly have much selection for the grocery section, but do remember... This is not a Walmart Supercenter, so don't give it a lower rating because of that. The bathrooms are kinda gross, and look a bit run down, but overall this store is pretty clean. They used to also have a McDonald's inside, but it is now a Subway, which is nice, the smell of that bread just pulls you in while shopping. Overall, if you just need something quick i would recomend Walmart, but if you a super picky person and everything bothers you, probably not for you. read more

Here are my pros- Lots of items you can get for a lower price than anywhere else. Lots of employees who recognize you when you are a frequent customer. Always lots of lanes open so wait time is never very long. Open until 11pm which is late enough so no one has to work all-nighters. Pretty clean and organized. My cons- Lots of scary people wandering around inside and out. Not sure why there is not security. Always makes me nervous. Lots of the same employees are there A LOT! I know people need hours but that also can compromise customer interaction. P.S. Don't wear blue. Someone thought I worked there. I told them I didn't but could help them anyway. Pretty small Walmart. Not as big as a superwalmart and they didn't have a vegetarian section in their frozen foods section.

This location is one of the smaller walmarts that I have been to. Only reason I come here is because it's location by my house and the red box right at the door by the exit. They have the normal things that most walmarts do, but the grocery section is lacking. There is no fresh meats, all frozen. One thing that I do like is that I can go through the garden entrance and be at the sporting section very quick to buy my fishing permit. read more

It is a Wal-Mart... however, if I am comparing this Wal-Mart to other Wal-Mart's that I have been to, this location is definitely lacking. Surprisingly, it is normally very busy, which leads to sometimes having popular items being out of stock, including grocery items and healthcare items. It does need a renovation because the inside looks outdated. Friendliness of the staff is a hit or miss. I've experienced staff that went beyond expectations to help me, while others seemed like they hated their jobs and wanted nothing to do with me. For extensive shopping, I choose to go to the supercenter Wal-Mart or Target. But if I only need a few things or a redbox movie, then I bite the bullet and go to this location. read more

I use to love coming here it's a nice store and I go her mostly for my business to shop for auto supplies. I just can't recommend this place anymore as the guest service came to a cliff dive. I went in today and the cashier had apologized for the way a customer was acting but the customer was nice towards me since and since I was waiting because the cashier didn't know how to do her job the customer let me go after the cashier had forgot to ring up the toilet paper. So finally when it was my turn we tried multiple time for my card to go through. However there was nothing wrong with my card. I check my card activity and it didn't even say an error or nothing so obviously their card read er wasn't working and the cashier should've gotten a supervisor or a employee to help her. But she was getting frustrated and telling me that I don't have enough funds lol. It was a business card and I transferred more than enough funds and apparently she was covering her face as she was getting stressed so I had it with this employee she failed to resolve the issue she didn't get help she thought she was right but she wasn't and had to get upset instead of being professional and doing her job. Granted as me being a customer I got upset and left because I will not continue to do business here. I hope Walmart does something and hopefully this helps make them better and for people to choose wisely where they go to shop. read more

I went in to pick up a tv that was ordered by my uncle who lives in Alabama, for my mother for Christmas. When I arrived they couldn't find the order, then they told me that my name wasn't on the order even though a store associate helped my uncle with this process. The store associate at this location told me that there wasn't anything they could do and refused to attempt to remedy the situation in any way. They will only hold the tv for a week and I am keeping my fingers crossed that we can get this sorted before they send it back :( I understand mistakes happen, but I was not impressed with the way they blew me off, refusing to take any responsibility for the situation, or help me to remedy the problem. read more

I shop at Walmart about once a week online. I love the prices and convenience of online shopping. However sometimes I have to return something to my local store and despite have original packaging all receipts order number and initiating the return online to the store I stand at the service desk forever trying to complete the return. Okay. Tonight marks the last time I go to this Wal-Mart. I went with the intention of buying some sort of Tablet. When I got to the section, a gentleman was being taken care of by Lauren. They were in the middle of getting a GPS ( I think) so I decided to go down the isle and look at antennas and do a quick turn around. On my way back, a lady walked up and explained that her GPS didn't work in Canada. Lauren didnt have an answer for her (understandable) and the woman said that she had some other questions when she was finished. Lauren got the man's item out of the case and away the three went. I stood there for a good 5 minutes waiting for her to come back. No Lauren. She ended up coming over close to where I was and proceeded to get out locking cases from a cabinet. She stood up and looked at me and gave me this weird look and I said, "Will you help me?" As we were getting out 1 tablet at a time, she kept hold of the boxes like I was going to run off with them. Really? Lauren should have been taught how to take care of one customer at a time and acknowledge others who are waiting. A simple, I will be with you in a moment or I will be back in a minute sure would of went a long way. And to the woman who couldn't wait, you should learn some manners. read more

This store is often dirty and unorganized. The stock runs low and many items that are regularly carried are often out of stock.
