Today- July 25, Walmart refuses to give price adjustment on an item purchased within return policy because it was said to me by sales associate " we have to pay shipping"- we who? The company or the customer; well did Target pay the $10 shipping. So I could then use $10 in gas driving back to get the item , return it to Walmart promptly and purchase what I desired at Target. I'm not pushing to promote Target, but yet buyers compare shop before on line or store ( I like stores) purchases. I visited Walmart in Līhuʻe, Kauaʻi, Hawaii [3-3300 Kuhio Hwy] on Monday, 01/19/26, in the late afternoon. Walmart is conveniently located near the Līhuʻe Airport, which was my first stop coming into the island. I was intrigued by the idea of browsing and purchasing a good variety of Hawaiian snacks. I was truly impressed by the offerings, such as Milk Chocolate Island Macs, Hawaiian Sun drinks, Kauaʻi Coffee, Maui Style Potato Chips, Hawaiian 3D candy, and much more. The store was well-stocked and easy to navigate. In the afternoon, the inside was very busy with many shoppers, which is understandable since this is the only Walmart on the island of Kauaʻi. The parking lot had plenty of spaces, making parking easy and stress-free. I also noticed roosters roaming around; how adorable! I will definitely be returning to this Walmart location. I plan to pick up more snacks and souvenirs that I don't normally find back home in California, or in most parts of the U.S., for that matter. read more

Walmart has arrived on the tiny paradise, no surprise that it was super busy Store was pretty clean. Was able to use the fitting rooms easily. Even in 2025, pricing was good. I bought a bunch of stuff, from gifts for friends and family - and some for me and my wife. Shirts, dresses, coffee cups, Hawaiin candy, they got everything. All stocked up and ready for tourists. I paid almost $200, if I bought from other stores price would probably be $500 . Yes , Kauai is expensive. We all know that. But at least can find a few inexpensive things . We came looking for some reef safe sunscreen and ended up shopping quite a bit from here. This is the only Walmart on the island and it kind of lives up to that responsibility. They have lots of variety of local snacks, beers and local food items. We also got a few things to take back home and the packaging held very well. Everything you would need for your trip that you either couldn't carry or forgot to bring can be found here -from sunscreen to umbrellas , food and medicines or cosmetics . Wanted to get some fabric today. Chose one and nobody at the cutting counter. There was another customer waiting for assistance too. She buzzed and even was sweet to buzz for someone for me. I saw a associate nearby, asked her if she could cut fabric for me but she said she couldn't. Maybe cross train your employees to cut fabric. read more

I forgot to pack our toothbrushes and so glad there's a Walmart in Lihue, a reason for our stop here. I also needed water, wine, & snacks. I shop at Walmart alot back on Oahu and I really see the difference here. Huge Walmart, organized, and this Walmart gets busy but the goes smoothly. Note., the wines, alcoholic beverages are locked up here in glass cages, you will have to ask a staff member for help. There is a bottom there, but I missed it. I had to look for a staff. Once you get your bottle of wine, there is a security device on bottles, which will be removed at check out. I think this is awesome, I hope stores on Oahu starts this as well, great idea to prevent thefts of the good stuff. I Got all of my essentials, toothpaste, water, cheap wine, shrimp chips, my favorite salted caramel twix and waited about 10 mins in line. The family in front of me had a cart full of items, they live on the other side of Kauai so they mentioned they might as well stock up. The cashier ringing was quick! I think this might be one of the nicest Wal-Marts I've ever been to. My husband and I were in Kauai for a week and needed snacks/waters to keep in our room between excursions and outings. Was-Mart had everything we needed and then some! We got water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray and a few small clothing items we didn't realize we forgot. It's much cleaner and well-stocked than the locations I've been to in CA, which is awesome. It was an overall really good experience! I would definitely recommend coming here if you are visiting and need anything that isn't sold at the local shops. read more

Bought an Swiss solar power bank that would not charge from sunlight. I drove across the entire island to exchange it, staff and the manager refused to help. They promised a refund that won't arrive until next week, leaving me with no power and no way to buy a replacement (Walmart still does not accept Apple Pay in 2025). This level of incompetence and indifference is dangerous and unacceptable. I want a meaningful compensation for my time, travel, and the risk I was put in. This is the only Walmart on the island and conveniently located to the Lihue area, so be sure to stop by and grab some snacks, drinks, etc, after landing at LIH. Aside from Costco, they have the best prices on alcohol, sodas/water, snacks, Hawaiian chocolates, and most other local or souvenir items. Similar to Walmarts in Hawaii, they have a full section just for souvenirs and Aloha shirts. Just be sure to hang onto your receipt until you leave the store because they have an employee checking at the door! Came here twice and both times were disappointing. The first, I was waiting for a $15 camera stand that was behind locked glass for some reason. Not even a camera, just a stand. When the customer in front of me that was taking ages finally finished, the employee got the box for me and I couldn't check out right there but she had to walk it all the way to the front for me. This is NOT a supercenter but has all the necessities. They have an extensive souvenir section with trinkits, shirts, and other tourist stuff. The prices are good, but the quality is, well...Walmart. They have a small food section, and even my favorite Milo's Ice Tea! If you are staying on the island and need anything, this is the place to go. I have been using Walmart on Maui since they opened, never had a problem. Had to relocate to Kauai from Lahaina. I reordered a personal 12 month calendar online to pickup at the Kauai Walmart. They wouldn't reprint it because one of my photos had a adult couple playing naked in the distance in a pond. The Maui Walmart has reprinted this calendar for me for years. My photo is not pornographic , indecent or objectionable. According to Walmart, each store manager decides what can be printed, not Walmart. I can get it printed at walmart online, but have to pay for shipping. So beware, the puritanical, small minded Manager at the Kauai Walmart can censor any photo you order printed, even online. I can't believe Walmart hires people like this and condones this kind of action. I will never shop there again! read more

A very large store located very close to the Cruise Ship Port. They offer a free shuttle to and from the ships. We needed a few things and sine we will be on our ship for another 45 days we decided to go in a restock some of our essentials. The shuttle was kept busy most of the day going back and forth from the ship to the store. The shuttle driver was very nice and told some very interesting stories about the island and what happened beck in the early 90's when the Hurricane hit the area and caused a lot of devastation. The store was well stocked and had most everything we needed. They were very busy and the lines long as most everybody from the ship was there. We found the staff to also be very friendly and helpful. We've been in other stores around the island and the prices here are so much lower it is actually amazing to see the difference. Stopped by here before my flight out from Kauai because I needed to get some last minute treats. This is the only Walmart on the island so be prepared for a packed store. However, the employees do a great job of keeping the aisles stocked full of inventory. There's a whole section for Hawaiian souvenirs, from mugs, license plates, and shirts, to sunglasses, leis, and ukeleles. The snacks aisle is stacked full of Hawaiian treats such as white chocolate macadamia nuts, local coffee brands, and various coconut infused snacks. The thing that this store lacks are customer service reps on the floor. They are few and far between so you have to scour through the aisles to finally find someone to ask where a particular item is. That part is frustrating and took a lot of time, which led to me missing my flight. There's also a McDonald's here, which I was able to buy a Haupia pie and bring it with me to the mainland. read more

We went to this place so many times during our short weekend trip. It's crazy but it was out of necessity. The Target on the island had only been open for a week or so and isn't fully stocked yet and what we needed only Walmart had. Unfortunately... it was a HORRIBLE experience. Our breast pump broke and we needed a new one. We bought one and when we opened it, it had dried milk inside and looked like it had been returned. EWWWW gross!!! So we turned around and brought it back. The second one we bought wouldn't charge! Seriously?! I even went and bought a new plug for it and still nothing. Out of desperation we went with a hand pump as a third option because nothing else was on the shelf. When we brought back the second one that wouldn't charge, they didn't want to give our money back so they checked if they had an exchange. Amazingly they pulled one from the back? The box was beat up and it looked iffy to me but more importantly, SAY WHAT? Where was that before?! Thankfully that one worked and we just kinda shrugged it off and went on our way to be done with it. I guess now we at least have a whacky story out of it. Thanks Walmart. read more

Decent little Walmart but weird cosmetics section blocked off. Fruit selection was good, but papayas weren't ripe. Save yourself the heartache and get them from a fruit stand or the papaya farm on the way back from Waimea Canyon! The frozen section was severely limited. Don't expect it to look anything like the mainland freezer section at your local Walmart. They didn't have taro chips the day we arrived but they did the day we were leaving :( Like most island Walmarts the local touristy goods are on the left when you walk in and then frozen stuff is off to the right, with the cosmetic in the far right corner, partitioned off likely to avoid theft. They had a decent selection of clothes in case you arrived and didn't realize this island is cooler and more rainy than the others! I found a cute swimsuit cover up here and got nailpolish for my bare nails. read more

Considering that all we have Walmart and Kmart as competitors and no Target- I do love this Walmart. Very clean & fast check out. Just remember to bring your own bags because they are sticklers for the "bag ban," no plastic bags. The key here is FAST check out as compared to Kmart (slow). Yes, Walmart is a bit cheaper in most items, but Kmart has a better selection of items like: toys, veggies/fruits, salad dressings and canned food. The employees here rock! This Walmart shreds over most Walmart stores on the mainland. TIP: Just FYI, it will be busier on Thursdays and Fridays because of the cruise ships that come in on those days. I really dislike Walmart and normally won't ever go. However I was forced into it because I needed an item that only they had. The employees that I made contact with were very friendly and went out of their way to help us find what we were looking for. It was a bit of an effort to find someone in electronics, but when we did he was friendly and helped us find what we were looking for. I give this Walmart between 3 and 4 stars. Good things: Big, open late, most employees are friendly, good return policy, etc. Bad things: Gets crowded, won't match online prices, runs out and does not get items in stock for a long time, needs more organic food, etc. I bought lots of stuff from this Walmart in 2020. I even bought a great bike from them and rode it everywhere for months. The local bike shops in Kapaa serviced it and I may review those later. Offers HI friendly selection with local snacks (hurricane popcorn and maui chips), lower prices on drinks and tourist gifts than other places, and an utterly massive sandal selection. We are Walmart regular shoppers back home (CA.), and Walmart is our GO-TO store for supplies when we travel to other states (NV, AZ, TX, NY), so we know how Walmart operates & the expectation level for the many local groceries, clothing, toiletries & hygiene products. The lady at the door checking our groceries against the receipt was so rude and ridiculous. We bought $175 of groceries, and she was so concerned that we might not have paid the fifty cents for one walmart bag that she kept going over and over the receipt looking for that fifty cents and then would ask if we had purchased the bag. During this time, people were stacking up to try to get out of the store, but her concern was that fifty cents, and she wasn't letting anyone out until she settled with us. But behold, she finally found that fifty cents listed on the receipt, and all was right with her. Now I just want to return the bag and get my gift cents back!!! read more

First, you have to put your book bag in a locker. I had a bookbag with a shopping bag in it, my wallet, phone, and some other small items. I just got off the airplane and was ready to spend a couple hundred dollars. Anyway, I walk in and a woman says put your book bag in a locker which would mean I have to hold my wallet in my hand. So how am I supposed to shop with only one accessible hand? If they are so worried about theft, why did the woman at the door tell me to put my wallet in my cart. Oh, so I'm supposed to trust everyone in there, but they don't trust me. Honestly, it felt so trashy. Then, I spend almost $200. And my shopping bag that I had with me was now in the car because i didn't want my stuff inside their lockers and i put my book bag in there which held my shopping bag, so I had to buy another bag in Walmart. Then, I wanted to grab a drink from McDonald's in the Walmart. Well, you can't bring your cart in, and no one will watch it as it sits outside the McDonald's but inside Walmart. So, all the things I just bought could've been stolen. I was told "~not my problem" at this Walmart. It was the worst shopping experience of my life. Stay away.
