The pharmacy staff are incredibly slow and spent 10 minutes with the lady in front of me describing the use of her meds when she said, I would just like my meds please, hand them to me. The pharmacist replied "you will listen to me or you won't get your meds" Wow, the lack or professionalism is astounding. When it was my turn I got a sneer when I asked for the generic version of meds they had over the counter. No, this is what we have take or it not. I've never had a positive experience at this longs drugstore. They've asked for my ID when I tried to buy fingernail polish, which is not a law in the state of Hawaii it's just their policy. They have tags that advertise things being on sale that actually require you to have a long drugs membership but it's not clear that that's the case. Longs carries so many items. Have never seen them taking inventory or stocking shelves like Walmart. They must have midnite menehunes making sure the shelves are full and the aisles are clean. They have seasonal decorations, food items and gifts as well as everyday common items for home, beauty or health. When we go to Maui or Kauai we somehow always stop at a Longs for their island's cookies, chips or miscellaneous items. I went in looking for a hair brush but found the coolest thing I've never seen in any Oahu Longs. I've seen miniscule ones at two other chain stores but this one caught my eyes. Packaging says you can wear each pair 100 times, just rinse with soap and water manually and let air dry. Pretty neat. Only thing the adhesive is strong so gently pry each one off in the privacy of your boudoir. Gentlemen, this is not a product for you to use. So ladies, have a clingy top or low cut outfit or something backless you are wearing for a wedding, cocktai party or Yelp Elite event? It will help you achieve the look of a Las Vegas showgirl without parading around in feathers or eyelashes out to there. You can simply be you just a wee bit better. Don't know what I'm describing? I avoid Longs / CVS as much as possible. The prices are higher than Target or Walmart but the main issue is how intrusive they are with personal data. They require ID for items that actually don't require ID according to Hawaii State law - it's just their intrusive policy. In general the staff isn't very helpful compared to most Hawaii businesses. I would suggest shopping somewhere else if at all possible. read more

A major issue arose when my hubby forgot some necessary medication at home in CA. In the confusion of trying to find where the prescription was sent after our doctor's office closed, I called Longs and spoke with Lena. She was an Angel, truly. She was able to look up my husband's information and get his a refill within 30 minutes. I wish she would have been there when we arrived to pick up this order. In January, 2021, we were in Kapaa supposedly for 3 days. We needed a Covid test to get back to Maui. A staff person at CVS there told us it should be 3 days for us to get our results. It ended up taking 4 days, and we had to find accommodations for an extra day, which turned out not to be too much of a problem. We also had to change our flight. I got an email from the manager saying it was out of their control. I wish that staff member wouldn't have made us believe it would be 3 days. It really put a kink in our vacation ambiance. We're here in Kauai on vacation from SF Bay Area and Your pharmacist is amazing. She set my expectations realistically when my Rx would be ready. I had made a call to the call center to find out where the Rx was. I then found out my daughter's Rx was sent to the Sacramento discharge pharmacy. Kapaa and Sacramento and dramatically different . It was so convenient to have this drugstore at the edge of our resort property. It's located right at the entrance of the Courtyard by Mariott Hotel that hubbs and I stayed at this past Thanksgiving for my birthday trip. The hotel did not offer much by way of bathroom items at their modest store near their front desk and everything they did sell was ridiculously overpriced. Your best bet is to head out to Longs and get everything you might need from there. They are a sister to CVS so you can use your CVS card for their discounts as well. They also sell alcohol and all the mixers you will ever need. We bought a few beers, some vodka, seltzer, water and juices to keep in our hotel room mini fridge. We bought some snacks and junk food to have handy in case we felt the munchies and it was great to be able to grab items on our way to our exploration destinations. The staff here is SUPER friendly, some more than others, and we always felt like they were really trying to help us and be genuinely pleasant. read more

We came by looking for water, zip-lock bags and paper towels, and found things to be reasonably priced. There was also a good variety of snacks for a dollar. Staff was pleasant, but EXCEPTIONALLY SLOW!!!! Have I mentioned that I'm NOT a patient man by any stretch of the imagination, and I ALWAYS seem to pick the worst checkout line to occupy. It's in it's new location by the Courtyard Marriott, which is nice to stop by on the way home. It seems a lot bigger than when they were by Safeway. The aisles are shorter, and you can see the top product and pretty much reach it. There seems like there's more aisles than before. I don't like that when you go down the middle, the right aisles you walk towards the right of the store. The left aisles you'd walk from the front to the back. The cosmetic selection seems smaller but I could be wrong since I didn't dwell over there for so long. I got a little lost, since everything is new. But there are signs down every aisle. Fairly new, and most definitely a newer Longs- this one is located right off of Kuhio Hwy and on Akela Loop. You'll see a big sign where to turn, so you can't miss it. Parking is open and right up front, if you're lucky, some shady stalls to leave your car in. Double automatic doors to enter, and it's like other Longs stores- registers up front and all aisles labels for easy finding of things. They offer produce and ready-to-eat items, specially catered to visitors. I saw protein packs, hummus and pretzels, bananas, carrots, lettuce, musubis, bentos and sandwiches to name a few! On this visit, I picked up some snacks and bottled water for my trip to the Garden Isle. Make sure you have your Extra card for bonus discounts, coupons and specials! Restrooms and water fountains for customer use in the back, just make sure you leave your basket or cart outside!
