A little shopping mall with all the essentials and lots of local shops. Definitely a good walk through and something to do.

This used to be fairly decent mall and then Macy's closed and another and another and another. There is hardly anything left in this mall except for the best sandwich and bread place on the island, Starbucks, a market, and some pop ups once in awhile. Kauai bakery is one of the top three places on the island for malasadas but it is tricky to find and not enough to make it worth the time and effort to go to this mall. You won't find unique stores here as it's mostly big names. That being said, it's not a bad area to spend some time in to get the necessities. However, if you're looking for gifts and/or souvenirs, I would definitely recommend going somewhere else to find them. This isn't the mall for that. Another excellent holiday weekend spent at Kukui Grove during this busy holiday weekend. My husband and I love Kukui Grove this time of year. Te decorations, holiday vibe, and activities are just wonderful!! We've been coming here for the past three Christmas seasons..This is our last Christmas in Kauai..so this is something that we will definitely miss. Kukui Grove Center is an open-air shopping center home to Macy's, Longs Drugs, Ross and Times Supermarket, along with dozens of shops, restaurants, banks and services, and lots of free ample parking. Recently they upgraded the mall with a food court renovation, and a new Keiki Korner Play Area. But because of the coronavirus pandemic, Kukui Grove Cinema 4, sadly closed permanently. In the works, Kukui Marketplace will open Kauai's newest Target. read more

Lihue's mall with anchor stores of Macy's, Longs Drugs, and Ross' Dress for Less. Kukui Grove is centrally located, clean and open. It is not a covered mall, so difficult to walk around in the rain, as it was earlier today. There is a nice, covered center stage with seating for dining or watching whatever special event is happening. It seems to be a gathering place for locals with their families. There are multiple dining options too! Worth a look see! read more

We had some time to kill before our tubing activity so we decided to check out the garden island's largest mall. The open-air, single level center is older, no-frills but up-kept well. It has the most gorgeous mountainous backdrop that I've seen yet! Like most of Hawaii's malls, you'll notice that there are two separate Macy's stores, more than likely the result of an abandoned JC Penney spot that Macy's scooped up. Other anchors are Times Supermarket, Longs, Ross and an abandoned Sports Authority. Kmart and Pier 1 are part of the complex but stand separate from the mall itself. The rest of the stores are a mix of national and local services. Located in the middle is a covered food court with seating and entertainment area. Parking is uncovered and plentiful. OVERALL: Not a shoppers paradise but it serves the community and its purpose well. read more

The Kukui Grove Center located in Lihue, Kauai seems to be the largest shopping center the island of Kauai has to offer its local residents and visitors. This very casual, open air mall features a couple of large department stores, gift shops and a handful of restaurants. We came here while visiting Kauai because we underestimated the winter solstice. Although we were able to enjoy time in the pool, hot tub and at the beach, when the sun set it was quite chilly and since almost my entire wardrobe was skin-exposing. I needed something to cover up with and on one of our many drives around the island, we passed this shopping area. The first place we visited was the Macy's where we found a nice zippered sweater for hubbs and some workout clothing for me; everything was on sale and the staff was very helpful. The only weird thing was that the women's and children's departments were in a separate building than the household goods and men's departments. There are a few food places, including a Ramen spot. We walked past a RadioShack and I found the perfect little boutique, Jeans Warehouse, where I was able to find cute leggings, a couple shirts and a pair of joggers. I wish there was more variety but we ultimately left with everything we needed, at decent prices. read more

From the viewpoint of a mainland person, this is a small mall. For an island of 72000 people, this is the super-mall. But rating a mall on the basis of size is silly. The things that make a mall good or bad are the store selection, vehicle access, transit access, and amenities. This place has a pretty good variety of stores for its size. It's on a major highway, and parking is abundant. I'm not a Kauai Bus expert, but I assume it stops at the mall. That's all good. The real strong points are two of the amenities. One is the "Keiki Kourt". Although it hurts to see "court" spelled with a "K", our four-year-old had a blast playing there. There was no sign of official supervision, but the other kids all played nicely. Kauai kids are as friendly as the grown-ups. Another great amenity is the food court. A typical mainland mall has a selection of some or all of the same dozen or so chain restaurants, all so bland that the Italian chain restaurant tastes pretty much like the Chinese chain restaurant. By contrast, this place has a bunch of one-of-a-kind restaurants, mostly Asian. One of them is Sone's, which may be the best food on the island. The only chain restaurant I noticed in the mall was the Starbucks, and it's well away from the food court. I've only encountered one other mall with a food court in this league, and it's also a pretty small mall. When my wife and I took my parents here so they could eat at Sone's, my mother inexplicably went to a Chinese restaurant across the food court instead, and took so long to order that she had hardly any time to eat before they were off to the airport. She seemed happy with her soup, or at least annoyed that she had to leave most of it behind. Finally, I gather from other reviews that there's a farmers' market here. That's cool too. It's also nice to see that the mall doesn't have a lot of vacancies. (OK, the K-Mart is dead, but the vulture capitalists have killed those almost everywhere.) The managers here must be doing something right. People of Kauai, you can be proud of your little mall. read more

Went here for the first time when doing island-hopping for a full day and I had some time to kill before flying back to Oahu. Plenty of retailers and eateries along with a Macy's and a Longs Drugs. I guess if you are a Kauai native, you are used to Kukui Grove being your definition of a "mall." Personally for me, this is quite sad. I have visited Kauai many times and have paid visits to Kukui Grove a hand full of times. Every single time I've been there, it is so deserted. My thoughts- How do these stores stay in business?! There is literally no one there... How do merchants make money? The variety of businesses at Kukui Grove are extremely limited. That said, this probably leads back to how deserted this mall is and which is why a lot of good retailers could come here, but choose not to due to lack of business. A few businesses include a Jeans Warehouse, Deja Vu Surf, Game Stop, Claire's... The biggest chain retailer in this mall is Macy's, which also has limited merchandise quantities. The entire mall is open air, which can be nice. Except, when it rains, the most shelter you will find besides entering stores, is a patio area with dirty tables and chairs. I also found areas of the mall filled with unpleasant urine-like scents. Kukui Grove definitely has potential. The should start by building customer volume. I guess since I'm more of a city person, my mall standards are higher. When I think of a "mall," I think countless varieties... which clearly Kukui Grove lacks. read more

One of the few shopping centers that are spaced far apart on Kauai. After spotting the Macy's coming back from Waimea Canyon on the hwy 50, I decided to make a pitstop for supplies and a rest before heading back down to Poipu. This mall is reminiscent of Kahala Mall + Koko Marina. It's open air and has the mixture of mid end to value oriented shopping options. It's geared more towards the local people and budget friendly vistors. Not sure where the high end places to shop on Kauai would be, but I'll assume in Princeville and Poipu. Kukui Grove shopping mall boasts a Starbucks and a Jamba Juice, along with the McDonald's in the food court. Always good to have these staples in your neighborhood mall. Ate at the Genki Sushi and picked up a frappuchino at Starbucks on my way out to the airport. Nice ambiance to stroll through on a quiet Sunday afternoon after completing the Kauai Marathon. read more

Cute little mall. Took the shuttle there and noticed they're building a Ross. Went to Kmart and saw some good deals plus it looked relatively clean compared to most I've been to. A fun market to get hard-to-find tropical fruits not available in states - not cheap though for many things. Found a rare soursop ($4), large mango ($4), very good big longans ($3 bag), decent starfruit (only 25c), and some exceptional papayas. We plan to check out some of the wellknown farmers markets (wed & sat) but didnt want to wait that long for good fruit so bought some on Monday. read more

This is the main shopping mall of Kauai. The shopping mall is a one story open-air mall that houses a number of shops, anchor stores, and food establishments in the food court. My family and I frequented this mall upon our outerisland vacation. On our outerisland vacation, I believe we came here atleast 3 times. They have a Macy's, Longs Drugs, and a Ross along with its other leased shops. This is the main shopping mall for the garden isle and although its older, it is well-maintained and seems to be a hub for locals on the weekends. This mall serves its purpose for the island of Kauai. If you are a tourist, don't keep your expectations high. No fancy touristy shops here, but you can definitely find some good deals at the retailers and grab a bite to eat as well. read more

If you go on a rainy day expecting a mall keep in mind the shopping mall is mostly outdoors, with a few covered areas. Personally I wouldn't go again as there are much better shopping areas on the island that aren't much further. The only two good things are there are 2 chains (Macy's and KMart) if you're looking for something super cheap, and the few places to eat weren't bad. If you do decided to eat there keep an eye out for the waves of pigeons. read more

I guess I failed to read that this place is located behind K-mart. When we got there, there were already a lot of people. Found some fruits that reminds me of the Philippines and can't find in the mainland like rambutan! Hubby has been dreaming of drinking some fresh Coconut so he got his wish. and wow, it was refreshing and yummy. Got to taste the mango passion pie from the pie lady. Very no frills, but it's close to the airport if you need to grab sundries, hit up Macy's for clothes and get your Jamba or Starbucks fix. On our visit to the mall we got sandwiches from the Deli, smoothies from Jamba Juice and sundries from Longs Drugs. Lots of parking available and easily accessible location make this a convenient shopping stop. read more

For it being the only regional mall on the island, I give it two thumbs up! This mall has everything that one could need and a bit more. Of course, I wish there were more stores but I know life on Kauai wouldn't be the same. just like the other developements that people want on the island- if we really got what we "wanted" Kauai wouldn't be all the things we "need". Obviously a small island, therefore you shouldn't expect too many things coming from one of the only shopping centers on the island. Located smack dab in the center of Lihue, you'll find some nice stuff you don't usually find at other surf shops & best of all, you got Deli & Bread (aka bombass sandwhiches). Kukui Grove also offers the convenience of Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Genki Sushi, Longs Drugs, & Times Supermarket. If you're on the island, there's no doubt you'll go here AT LEAST once. But, no worries, you won't be spending much of your precious vacation/cruise time here. read more

In the words of Kauai native, Irah Nishi, "Kukui Grove--the #1 mall". If you've ever come across his song "Go Home", that is a line that he utters. And, it's basically true. If you're looking for a "mall" on Kauai, this is your best bet. This is where all the major department stores and accessory shops are. There is also a food court which holds a bunch of locally owned eateries (aside from places like McDonald's, Quiznos, Jamba, Starbucks, & Genki). They recently just got Orange Grove too. Not to mention, It's also where you'll find all the middle/high school students hanging out after school or on the weekends. It might seem very limited, but on an island with only 2 lanes what do you expect? Okay, short and sweet review coz there's nothing really here to review! Was here on Aug 2012, so hopefully business has picked up and they secured more leases. Pros: -The only real "mall" on Kauai. Has your Macy's and Longs, with some surprising stores like Footlocker (or was it Champs??) etc... -I like that it's an outdoor mall, lot's of spaces to roam and sit down -Enclosed/Indoor Fourt Court Cons: -Was like a ghost town. Being that this is one of the few malls on the fair island of Kauai, it's one of the bigger ones there if not the biggest. I remember many a day being spent here in my high school days when I lived on the island and remember those good ol' glory days(God, I'm old... Haha). Unfortunately a lot has changed about this place which I can't say is necessarily good but there are still a few bright spots. First the good: -Nice variety of shops & eateries. Your typical & expected anchor stores such as Macy's, Long's, Sears, and Times Supermarket are here. They also have McDonald's, Starbuck's and a few small eating places too. -Radio Shack for electronics is here, as well as Sears and to a certain degree Gamestop too. Thankfully the overlap between them is minimal, so you can actually go to each store and find something the others won't have rather than seeing the exact same items at the same price. -Decent amount of stores. I believe the mall is about 60% full of stores but more on this later... Now the bad: -As mentioned earlier, the mall is about 60% full of shops but there are many areas where there is completely un-occupied space. A lot of these un-occupied lots sit between Times Supermarket and extend toward Foot Locker. -Most of the stores are relatively empty. This can be a good thing if you don't like to deal with crowds but is a relatively bad thing as there really isn't much to draw you in either. It's a wonder that a lot of these shops can survive with so little foot traffic. As a whole this mall is fairly decent for the location and what's there. Unfortunately because this on a neighbor island it just doesn't get a lot of traffic from the locals, you regularly see shops rotate in and out, some of them which are great. Hopefully business picks up and the stores left there are able to sustain and stay afloat. It's definitely a nice change of pace and scenery compared to sea of people you encounter when shopping at malls such as Kahala Mall & Ala Moana for sure! read more

The only real "major shopping" on Kauai if you can call it that. It's a sleepy lil outdoor mall anchored by Macy's and Sears. Not very interesting since prices seem much higher in Hawaii compared to U.S. mainland. If you're hungry, it does provide a number of fast food options at the foodcourt (I'm an L&L fan - yeah!) as well as one of my new tasty informal faves in the area - Kimchee #9 as I reviewed already. You can also walk across the parking lot to the plaza next door with Kmart. Costco is also nearby but you probably should drive there instead of walking. Bottom line: Shoppaholics - get ready to be underwhelmed. read more

The last time I visited the Farmer's Market at the Kukui Grove it was located behind the K-Mart and now it is adjacent to the K-Mart. Other than the slight geographical change not much else has. There might be a total of 30 vendors, most of which have a very limited supply. I suspect there are only a few legitimate farmers in the mix with most being backyard enthusiasts. It is interesting to see the in-season tropical fruits and vegetables that one very rarely sees on the mainland. I ended up buying a bag of longan, a custard apple and a huge grapefruit for about 3X the price for what they are probably worth. One vendor was asking $3 for a single grapefruit (haole price) and $7 for a very small bunch of apple bananas - one would think that they use a mulch of composted black truffles and saffron for their trees for the prices that they charge! read more

This is Kauai's little mall. It's slowly coming up with new stores like Ross and Sports Authority. There's a small food court and a little arcade and froyo place next to it. Lots of clothes shops, sushi place, Macy's, a few jewelery shops, shoe stores, Longs Drugs, Verizon, loan place, GNC, and Vitamin World. There seems to be a farmers market every day on this island. And they start lots later than the ones I'm used to on the mainland. I've tried three of them, and though this one's the least picturesque (it's in a parking lot behind a mall), it has a great selection and great prices (the one in Hanalei seemed extra pricey to me). You could say it's the least touristy. My lovely assistant and I walked out of here with bags and bags of delicious fruits, many of which I'd never heard of or tasted before. I am now in love with the custard apple, thanks to Linda. Linda's a farmer who sells great produce, tells you all about how to store it and prepare it. She's super friendly. We saw her at the two other markets and she always called out "Aloha!" when she saw us walk by, and always threw in a few extra pieces. I'd give her 5 stars! read more
