    LEVIN TIRE CENTER

I'm surprised at the negative feedback on Levin Tire. Maybe they've address the issues that other…read morereviews commented on. I don't know. I do know that over the past two weeks, we've needed work done on both our vehicles and we received excellent service! What was outstanding about their service (and now sets them apart from the other auto service places in Valparaiso - namely Brown's Tire and Heinold & Feller) is that the folks at Levin didn't try to upsell my wife on anything else (such as trying to sell her two more tires, transmission fluid change, etc.). The people at Brown's Tire had told her that she need to replace the timing belt asap and that her car needed about $1,500 worth of other work done. When she asked the mechanics at Levin, they could have easily played on her concerns by reiterating the apparent nonsense Brown's Tire told her. Instead, the assured her that, while she should have the timing belt changed in the future, it didn't need to be as an emergency. They also encouraged her to wait on the other items Brown's had told her needed to be done. On our second vehicle, we had purchased the fuel tank strap with the intent of putting it on ourselves. We weren't able to do that and I called Brown's Tire to see if they would put it on for me. Brown's told me that they would not put these straps on for me, that I would have to purchase the parts from them (they quoted me $150 for them; I paid $40 for them online) and then they quoted me another $150 for labor, for a total of $300. After my wife's great experience with Levin's, I thought I'd ask them. Not only were they willing to use the parts I had purchased, but they charged on $73 for the labor to do the work! Perhaps the biggest factor is finding an auto repair shop you want to stay with is trusting them. After working with Levin Tire's, we trust them and will be using them going forward.

Last month at the beginning of April, I was sexually harassed by an employee at this establishment. I will attach photos here of messages he sent me via my personal phone number by copying it from my profile that was made by the store. Without my consent or pre-approved knowledge this employee paid for a service that I was entrusting the storefronts mechanics to do. This is an older gentleman that had previously been speaking with me about his wife and elderly father in a friendly, NOT inappropriate, manner. Given the light hearted conversation, I consider his act to be one of generosity and age superior kindness. However, once I left the shop is when he began messaging me. As you can see from the messages, I offered to pay him back for this unexpected and unauthorized act he did of his own free will. He proceeded to request sexual favors in return for his decision to pay for my car service. I was dumbfounded and did not respond for a period of time, in which he repeatedly messaged me until I did respond. In response I reflected on how inappropriate the request was. I unfortunately had to encounter him again the next morning, as the shop's team was servicing my vehicle once more. He "apologized" over text and said he too would be professional. All in all this was a terrible, uncomfortable and outright disgusting experience that I had from this shop. It triggered experiences of sexual harassment and assault that have happened to me in the past year, recent and traumatic enough to induce a panic attack response the more I had to reckon with seeing this man again the next day. I would not recommend their services to anyone, but I ESPECIALLY would not recommend these services to any woman, young women especially, due to their own vulnerability. I was leaving the state and moving across the country, I was alone with no family near my home, and this employee tried to take advantage of that in a humiliating and degrading way. To all that read this, please stay safe.

$5,200 in damage -- Take 5 Oil Change refuses to take responsibility…read moreI've been a loyal customer of Take 5 Oil Change for over five years, but my recent experience was absolutely unacceptable. During a routine visit, they suggested I replace the differential fluid. I trusted their advice--but during the service, they removed a plug that is clearly labeled "do not open" As a result, my vehicle was completely disabled and could not even be driven off their property. It never left their lot under its own power. I had to arrange and pay for towing and repairs myself, which totaled $5,200. I was without a vehicle for three weeks, and Take 5 offered no support whatsoever--no rental, no reimbursement, not even a phone call from corporate. To make matters worse, they handed the issue off to a third-party claims company, which quickly denied the claim despite all the clear evidence of their mistake. I can't stress this enough: if Take 5 damages your vehicle, they will not take responsibility. Their customer service is nonexistent, and their refusal to own up to an obvious error is disgraceful. Avoid this place at all costs.

They shared that the oil filter had never been changed, and the car shut down due to low oil pressure. Cost X 2!! For those of you who do go here, request your old filter back and have them share the oil level on the dipstick. My advice is to stay away; it's not worth having engine damage.

Sit down and grab some popcorn because we're about to spill some tea. Today is 8/23/2023. A family member of mine was having many troubles with their car, and was recommended by a friend to take it to C&C Auto Repair (said friend personally knew the owner of this shop). For the record: we'd had this car looked at and minor issues fixed by multiple mechanical friends. My family member had their car towed to this auto shop on 7/3/2023. The car sat in their lot for 2 weeks - without a call/email update from the shop to car owner - before the owner of the car called the shop to check in on their vehicle. The service writer at the shop briefly explained that the mechanics "have seen and diagnosed the car". Rightfully so, the owner of the vehicle was confused as to why no one had contacted them for an update to let them know the next steps. The service writer said they were going to order a part, and call with an update once it was received and the work was going to be started. Another week passes by - no call from the shop. The owner of the vehicle called and asked for an update. Apparently, they had "just gotten in the part and were waiting on a 'big job' to finish up before they were to start on their vehicle which was 'immediately next". Another week goes by, no update from the shop. Once again, the owner of the vehicle called and asked if they'd started on the repair yet. The service writer continued to give my family member the run-around, saying "we hope to get to it by the weekend". The weekend would pass, the owner would call again for an update the following Monday or Tuesday, to which the service writer would say "we hope to get it to this week" etc etc. This continued for an additional 3 weeks, each time the service writer promising the owner a call for an update, to which the owner was never contacted. The owner of the vehicle called for updates each time they ever spoke with the auto shop. Not once did my family member get a straight answer to anything, or get the chance to speak with the owner of the shop. A quick note to add: my family member relies on their car for their job. During this time, they've had to borrow multiple family members cars just to get to and from work. The customer service and decency C&C provided was next level UNPROFESSIONAL, and in my opinion, should be reprimanded for. My next step is to call the better business bureau to file a complaint.
