I had to make an appointment 2 weeks in advance. Problem was…read morea sporadic hart-to-start and a metal-to-metal clackety noise when starting the car. I said to install a new timing chain and hydraulic tensioner, and inspect the other parts for any that may be bad. Gill's said they will check all the parts after disassembly. It's a 4 hour job to disassemble the top of the engine. After installing a new timing chain and tensioner, Gill's said they had checked everything, and all was ok. I picked up the car and it was better, but I basically had the same hard starting problem and clackety noise as before. Not wanting to wait 2 more weeks for them to look at it, I took the car to another shop. The second shop found what Gill's missed: a bad intake sprocket. Gill's had said, after the repair, that the sprockets, naming them specifically, were ok. The noise is now gone and my engine runs great.

When I spoke to him the other day he gave me an estimate on the work (a very reasonable price) and after dropping it off and him looking at it the rate was just as he expected and I added an oil change. My tires were low I had been planning on going to the gas station after but they were filling my tires as I pulled up. This is a family run business I met both the father and son, both friendly and kind. I live in Chicago, but I'll definitely be back for anything else I should need! Thank you!
