BE CAREFUL & WATCH OUT...THIS PLACE IS VERY SHADY!!!! In med of June 2023, I went to Midas (2508 Calumet Str., Valparaiso, IN 46383I) ordered (I paid) a part I needed (Silicone HTR hose) & I also paid for labor which is logical/reasonable to pay for services. Now in early October of 2023, I found out that the part (hose) I paid for was the wrong hose (which they told me in June it was the correct one): the part I got in June 2023 was just a "rubber hose" and the hot air burned a hole in it which cause my engine light to turn on. So, as of Oct 24 2023, they got me the "correct" hose (Silicone HTR hose) but THEY REQUEST ME TO PAY FOR THE LABOR (AGAIN!!!) TO PUT IN THE CORRECT HOSE...which I ALREADY paid for the labor back in June 2023. I REFUSED to pay for additional labor because I paid for it in June already!!!: if they got the correct part/hose in the 1st place...I wouldn't have to waste my time/energy to get what I paid for. They should be paying me for my time/energy that I waisted for their incompetence!!!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!! This is bad business and VERY CORRUPT: Midas puts in the wrong item that they got from a auto outlet...you have to come back...you don't have to pay for the correction...BUT you have to pay AGAIN for their hour labor: This is how they get you to come back. I recently had my minivan of 11 years 168,000 miles we are the original owners purchased new and it was serviced at this location. My vehicle was originally brought in because the it was running hot, as soon as I noticed it I contacted them I didn't allow it to over heat. After they checked it out I was told the thermostat, temp sensor and radiator needed to be replaced. That there was sludge in the bottom of the radiator and the coolant system needed to be flushed they said the rest of the coolant system was running fine no issues. I had them make the repair they had it completed later that day. The following day I had the vehicle and I was picking up my child from school and the heat wasn't working. If you don't know the heat works through the coolant system. So I contacted them and told them what was going on. The following I was contacted and told they had replaced the parts they installed in case they were defective and the heat still wasn't working. So they proceeded to take apart the dash without notifying me. Then contacted me to tell me there was a hole in the heater core. Again I told them to fix it. After this repair we are $3k into it with no end in sight. Later that day I get a call again the heat still isn't working in the vehicle. They then tell me that the water pump is failing and it would cost $5000.00 to repair it because the engine would need to be pulled to do it. I tell them no. My wife and I go to pick up the vehicle and ask questions about the repairs and the guy at the desk named Mike says " I don't believe the heat has worked for awhile" and " the water pump is failing but it's not gonna fail right away" and we are lying about the fact that prior to the original repair that it worked. It was at this time we paid off what was owed and left. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They have no idea how to diagnose vehicle problems but are more then willing to continually throw parts at it till something works if not they will accuse the customer of lying. This vehicle was a daily driver the cost of the repairs exceeded the kbb value of the vehicle and it made zero sense to continue pumping money into it. If I could award zero stars I would. read more

I had lowered my car and put wheels and tires on it and no one in my area could do an alignment on the car, every shop I went to had turned me down and told me no. After continuously looking I FINALLY found Midas of Valparaiso! They were able to get my car onto the lift and get my wheels aligned perfectly without even scratching my brand new wheels OR scratching under my car! All the staff in the shop were very responsive and respectful of my car and I liked that they communicated with me any time they needed to. They even went the extra mile for me and checked my battery. These guys were very personable and professional the whole time I was there. They had my car back on the road and had me heading back home in around 45 mins. Even though I live 45 mins away In Michigan I am going to continue to have this business take care of me. I spent $2100 on two vehicles in the span of three days. Two brake jobs and a muffler. Was told I needed an additional $650 front bearings. The car began to grind and squeak in the meantime. I assumed it was the aforementioned bearings. I waited a couple of weeks to go back to build up the cash. Scheduled an appointment to have the work done. A couple of hours later received a call no need for bearings and was asked why I thought it needed bearings. Duh because you (Midas) told me so. Advisor said it likely needed $400 CV joint. Three hours later was told no it did not need CV joint. Also told it was driven and no squeaking. I picked up the vehicle and turned left to go home guess what...it squeaks. I took it to another private mechanic come to find out front brake was stuck in and constantly applied thus wearing down pads and Midas used used parts on my $2100 repairs. Midas has offered two oil changes as compensation. I have used Valpo Midas for nearly 20 years never again. Suggestive sales, volume over quality, and used parts to boot. Stay away from Valpo Midas. They are crooked. It would not allow me to give zero stars. That's what they deserve. read more

"RIP OFF ALERT" I brought my 2012 Chevy Equinox to Midas for brake and muffler inspection. I was given a quote for 4 new pads, a muffler and to have the rotors turned for over $900. I was shocked to say the least. That seemed quite high. When i questioned the mechanic about it he told me that that was the going rate. I still didnt feel comfortable with that amount of money so I called around and got another quote for the same work for $550. I then called midas and told them the quote i got from a mechanic less than a hundred yards down the street for that amount. He then told me they would match the deal as long as i brought a copy of the quote. So I did just that. The next day i picked up my vehicle and immediately drove it to the other mechanic down the street for additional work on the engine and a sway bar control arm. I then recieved a call from the honest mechanic down the strret to come to their shop. I was dismayed at what they were showing me. The new muffler was put on with JB WELD and was already leaking. Then they took off the pads that they had out on and they appeared to be used pads. There were deep groves with uneven wear on the pads. I literally drove the vehicle)ess that a 1/4 mile. 2 stop lights. I then called the owner Jeff Wishek and explained to him the situation. His response was im not refunding you nothing. So i went to the business and showed him the pictures that the other mechanic showed me of the shotty work and he still refused any refund. So i left and went straight to the court house and filed a case with small claims court. So, BEWARE and stay away from this dishonest auto shop!!! Oh and the hispanic mechanic there got in my face and yelled at me "White Privledge". Unbelievable!!!! I said see you in court. read more

I went in for an oil change, figured no big deal. I was then notified that during the inspection, my front brake pads were worn down and really needed a full brake inspection to verify just how bad it is. Seeing as my car is near 60,000 miles, I had to do it. I was reluctant to do it because money is really tight right now and told Jessie that. He explained about the mileage on my car and if I get the brakes repaired there, the inspection would cost nothing. After googling how long brakes should last and seeing 40-50k miles, I knew I was screwed and was going to have to get them done. Turns out, I had to get all new pads and rotors. Ugh...but Jessie told me if I got the brakes done, the $50 oil change would be free. They didn't have to do that, but they knew money is tight and did what they could to help me out. $415 for brakes and rotors on all 4 wheels. They saved me $50 on the oil change and then gave me a coupon for another free oil change! That is going above and beyond during this tough time, that effects everyone and every business. I would recommend anyone going there and they really showed it's not all about the cash, they care about your safety and will do what they could to help out financially. read more

If you could rate less than one I would. I took my truck there on July 30 to have the brakes repaired. The brakes were 519.96 labor was 368.00. Oil change 34.48. They machined the rear rotors, replaced the front rotors installed new pads and repaired a lug that was miss threaded. They also rotated the tires. The next day the truck was shaking a lot at about 50mph. I asked if they rebalanced the tires, nope, I took it back, they put the tires back where they were. Three months later the brakes were shaking badly on November 4 I took it in to the local Midas dealer here in. Chattanooga, Tennessee. You know the Midas touch nationwide contract and all. They said it would be 550+ to repair. They contacted your dealer in Valpariso. He refused to honor the agreement. My dealer in Chattanooga called Jeff and he said I could bring it back to Valpariso and he would look at it. Right drive a Toyota Tundra 600 miles on bad breaks he didn't fix. Bottom line my dealer here repaired it for nothing. They didn't have to do that. Your dealer is a con do not take anything there, ever. read more

This place is a good place to get brakes done on your vehicle. I have been here few times and I have no complaints. Today I had an issue with my rear brakes. So I called and were very helpful and got me in right away. It turns out one of my brake pads did break and needed new brakes and rotors on the rear. I knew I needed to rotors relatively soon anyways. When everything was all said and done it was around the price I would expect from a place like this and he was able to drop some off the price and even gave me a mail in rebate. They do value and take care of their customers here. They are fair with price in my opinion compared to other places that are out there. My issue with my van was found to be extremely costly an the guys at Midas thought it should be under warranty with Chrysler an told me what I needed to say & gave me all info needed so I understood what I was talking about when i called. They could have pretended they didn't find this issue an went ahead an chaged my breaks which was the real reason for me being there however new breaks were not needed an they were up front about it. My check engine light came on. So I took it to Midas in Valpo. They said the sensor was just dirty. Great, it cost me 86.00. A few days later the check engine light came on again. Their new diagnosis said I needed to replace the O2 sensors. Cost was 969.00. I drove the vehicle for two weeks and guess what? The check engine light came on again. Their newer diagnosis was we need to replace the other half of the O2 sensors. I guess they only replaced half. Cost was 680.00. Trust me it gets worse. Drove it for about a month and the damn check engine light once again comes on. This gave the same code PO430 like the other times. Go back to Midas and after two hours the manager comes out and says sorry we don't know what's wrong with it. The owner of Midas in Valpo calls me. His name is Jeff Wishek. I'm very pleasant and I simply ask for a refund. I said after four times your Mechanics can't figure out the problem. He says NO!!! He will not give me a refund. He wants me to take my vehicle to another mechanic so he knows what the problem is. He will not honor Midas' warranty. I called the Midas corporation today and filed a complaint. I also filed a complaint with the BBB. Tomorrow I'm filing in small claims court. Trust The Midas Touch? Lol. read more

DO NOT take your car here. We took both of our Hondas here for an oil change. The next day the bottom panel on one of our vehicles came loose and started scraping on the road while we were driving. Turns out, Midas had incorrectly attached the bottom car panels after completing the oil change. We had to wait over an hour for AAA, pay $60 to have our car towed to a local repair shop, and wait over an hour for them to re-attach the panels correctly. We took our cars back to Midas to make sure that there was nothing else they had forgotten to check. First, they only reimbursed for the tow charge AFTER we kept insisting that they were at fault and needed to pay for the tow expense. They refused to reimburse us for the oil change and their sloppy work. Then, after they claimed they had "completed a full inspection" of our cars, A CUSTOMER in the waiting room noticed that one of our back tires on our other car was low on air. Only then did the Midas employees complete a thorough inspection that revealed both of our rear tires had nails in them. Again, they had supposedly completed a full inspection with the oil change...yeah right! Needless to say, we ended up going elsewhere for the rest of the work we needed done. Not to mention, they quoted us at $370 to fix a rear wheel bearing and we ended up going to Gill's Auto Repair and paying $220. Highly recommend Gill's. They were professional, honest, and knew what they were doing, unlike Midas. After talking with other car repair shops in town, we found out that our Midas experience was not unique...other repair shops are constantly helping customers fix the sloppy work done by Midas. Our Midas experience was terrible. Horrible customer service and careless work. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the headache by going elsewhere. read more

Had a coupon for oil change also included topping off fluids & tire rotation, I have one tire which is the same size as the others but a different brand, I always look where that tire is located on my vechile, when I returned tire was in same place so I knew they were not rotated as I told the the man in charge he went to look came back & raised his voice to me, saying that wasn't true he saw the the mechanic rotate (wrong) as I always make sure to check this If I leave my vechile, bottom line is I thought I found a place close to home, Guess not !!! read more
