I was driving and got a large bolt in my tire when driving through Portage. I heard the thunk of the bolt head and headed to discount for a free flat repair. The bolt was too large and damages surrounding cords in the tire. I have a AWD vehicle and knew the recommendation about replacing all four at the same time. After trying to repair and then explaining that the bolt was larger than the 1/4" rubber plug, the manager Dan worked with me to get me back on the road with a set of tires at a screaming deal. I was already at 5/32" of tread left and knew my old tires were coming to the end. I'm grateful for them understanding the stress of a unrepairable tire and treating me well to get me the best result at the end of the day. My new tires will last another 60k miles! read more

I had four new installed and balanced along with new valve stems when I brought them home one of them leaked slowly, it was returned to be repaired properly ended up taking it back a total of four times still not repair properly seems almost like it was set aside and then called me to come pick it up that it was done but it never was it's still leaked and they give me some mumbo jumbo about oxidation which I know is BS seems they let the tire sit and did nothing . They made a mistake in not telling me that my 4x4 has to have matching tires. So when I left, I had a very bad thumping noise. I went to Dave's Auto shop in Hobart and they told me that I have to have 4 matching tires. The noise would continue until I put the matching 2 tires on the back of my truck. So I drove back with my hazards on at 20 miles a hour to get this fixed. I didn't yell or make a scene but I did let them know that I was very upset. I wasted my time, gas and my afternoon was shot. So not only did they put 2 new tires on the back of the truck for free, they upgraded all 4 tires since the 2 that I had purchased were the only ones in stock. To me this is customer service. Not only fixing the problem but making sure that I was happy. The manager even came over and talked to me. I highly recommend this shop for your tire needs. Went there today to get four new tires. Saw the young guy pounding on the socket to take my lug nuts off. He was using a medal hammer! I asked the manager what he was doing? I get told it's a common thing with Fords really!! They should have used the right sized socket this wouldn't of happened!! Will never go back there ever!! They really thought I was going to fall for that!! Tried to charge me for new lug nuts cuz they didn't think they could put mine back on!!! My car is only for years old!!! You can take my order for wheels and shove it. Your idiots at the Portage Indiana store misquoted me on the original set of wheels I ordered, telling me they were in stock but were not. So after waiting two weeks with no calls or updates, I call and wait on hold for 30 minutes to be told they are now backordered after being assured it would be no more than 5 days to get them. I decide to order another wheel option and am told 3 days max. That was two weeks ago, again no calls, no updates. I called again, same long on hold time, to be told there was an error and they only had two of the wheels at the store. That was last week. Now they call today saying the other two have arrived, but they cant schedule me to bring the car in to install them until May 3rd. So over four weeks, with minimal to no updates, and I'm told to wait again. I have been a lifelong customer with Discount Tire, but that ends today. I can have wheels and tires to my door by Monday from Tire Rack and take them to another shop locally owned and operated to be installed and not deal with this. You have wasted my time, and I will never shop at one of your stores again, nor would I advise anyone to. Fix your customer service, and the honesty of your staff. I heard this place fixes flats for free, so when I got a screw in my tire I took it in. The guy at the counter said it would be about and hour to an hour and 20 minutes. I walked to Menard's across the parking lot and looked around for about an hour. I got back to the store and they took my truck in about 10 minutes later. 45 minutes after that, they pulled it around to the door and said it was done. I mentioned to the guy who waited on me that it must be a busy day. He said he was short two technicians. When he handed me my receipt he thanked me for being patient. It wasn't the best way to spend two hours, bit it was free and the staff was courteous. I went there a couple of years ago to see if they could find a very slow leak on a tire , after another place couldn't . Well not only did they find it but they were able to patch it and did it for free!! Since then I have recommended them to two other people for tire patches and they also had a good experience. Now the best part is , I took my truck to them to inspect Michelin tires for a Michelin warranty . Damaged my car and will not repair it. They use large flat style car lifts. They did not block my frame when the lifted it. This broke my factory stainless steel dual exhaust. They paid to have the pipes patched, poorly, with standard exhaust pipe. When the lifted it, it also broke two manifold studs off in the head. They would not fix this. They referred me to corporate, who will not even return my calls. The sales staff has the same hook with every customer which is all about moving product instead of service. All I wanted was two tires, not my 22 year old garage kept car to be damaged by a bunch of young careless techs. read more

We were able to change it to our spare, googled the closest tire shop, and fortunately discovered Discount Tire. I can't recommend this location enough. They were very friendly, provided great customer service, and we were in and out in less than 45 minutes (maybe even less than 45 minutes, we enjoyed talking to them the entire time we were there so it went by fast!). We did end up needing a new tire, our old one wasn't salvageable. They walked us through several options, and even ended up finding a used tire that we ended up buying. I made an online appointment to get new tires the day before the work was to be done. Their website recommends arriving ten to fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled service; I was able to get there eight minutes before my appointment and noticed every bay was filled with vehicles. That's to be expected with this type of business and I figured I would be in for a long wait. No big deal. I am a patient and flexible person and was prepared to be there a few hours or as long as it was necessary to finish the work. What I didn't expect was to wait at the showroom counter for six minutes without any kind of acknowledgement whatsoever. This, despite a worker who entered and exited the showroom three times and another repairman who came in to speak with a different customer. The first gentleman had to walk right past me each time he went to and fro but never uttered a word. No "Hello," "Someone will be with you shortly" or "Has someone waited on you, sir?" He didn't even nod or smile, which would have been *something.* The third time he sauntered in, he answered the phone, which had been ringing for two minutes straight. As for his co-worker, I realize he was there to speak with another customer but he too could have taken a few seconds to let me know help would be available soon. Any sort of affirmation would have been suffice but after six minutes of non-communication, I decided to leave. I assume that Discount Tire employs a clerk whose responsibility is to take calls, wait on customers, etc. Perhaps that person was in the restroom, which is completely understandable. Two workers allowing a customer to wait for six minutes without any sort of acknowledgement is unacceptable, not to mention no one being available to answer the phone. I will NOT make a return visit to this location and after reading the reviews regarding poor craftsmanship on yahoo.com, perhaps this was a blessing in disguise. read more

I got a new set of tires installed here today during an extremely busy time (Saturday mid-morning). Note that you're able to shop for tires and pick an appointment time on the Discount Tire website - so that's what I did.. I HIGHLY recommend that, by the way. Anyway, because it was very busy I stood in line for a few minutes, and I could've been annoyed by that. But as I watched employees interact with other customers, I noticed that each customer was treated as if they were the most important customer of the day. When I was helped, I was told the tire installation would be 45 minutes. I left and went to lunch, and they were done with my vehicle before I was done with lunch. The employees here are really polite and professional, don't use high pressure selling, and treated me with respect. Also - there's a pretty good array of tires to choose from (less expensive to higher quality). I was also given a rebate that I wasn't aware of, so that was a nice bonus.
