Arranged for a tow a couple of days ahead of time and all went smoothly. Price seemed reasonable,…read moredriver Charlie was friendly and competent. Car was delivered for repair without any hassle. Would use again!

Edit: Changing my review to 1 star. Owner is now posting my personal address and license plate as…read morethey are unhappy with my review. Reported to Yelp for privacy violations. We reached out to this business with this exact quote: 'Non emergency car tow, anytime within the next few days. About 9 miles within San Francisco. How much for rear wheel towing vs. flat bed. It's from one apt garage to another apt garage, the space is tight for both places'. The good: - The tow truck drivers were right on time for their appointment. - They managed to get our car out of the tight spot (although they had to push it) - Workers were friendly and tried to accommodate us the best they could The bad: - We were charged an additional $75 by the owner for 'additional labor required'. This was because the tow trucks could not get into either garage, and the workers had to push the car out/in to both garages. This was despite the fact that we provided the information on our quote request that it was one SF apartment garage to another, and the spot was tight. We also provided the clearance of the garages the early afternoon before the tow. You would think that professionals in these services would know if their trucks would be able to go into a garage after being provided the clearance, and also that they would check to see what kind of garage it was before providing a quote if the price would change. - Before scheduling an appointment (after being provided the quote), we also confirmed with the owner that there would be 'no hidden fees'. He assured us that he 'don't do business like that'. We were then charged an additional fee of roughly ~30% of the quote price. - We reached out to the owner after being charged additional fees. His responses were full of inconsistencies and odd answers. For example: - He told us he assumed that the garage would be a straight in and out. This was despite us telling him it was to/from an apartment garage in SF and tight spots (assumedly NOT straight in and out), and explaining the garage layout to his employee. He also did not think to clarify before the tow. - He told us that his workers should have reached out to him when it was a more complicated tow and there would be extra fees. Despite acknowledging that it was an error on his drivers for not reaching out, he did not refund the fee. - He texted us requesting more information about the garage the day before. At essentially the same time, his employee (the truck driver) called us and we provided a detailed explanation of the garage situation. His worker failed to relay this information to the owner. The owner blamed us for this, explaining that we should have called him and told him as well, even after we had provided all the requested information to his employee. Summary: Overall, we felt like we went above and beyond to provide all the required information to get an accurate quote. After a series of blunders that appear to be issues with communication by his employees, we ended up having to pay additional hidden fees (roughly 30% of the original quote). We even tried to clarify the situation with the owner after the tow, but he seemed disinterested in providing a refund for the additional fee. This was even after he told us that his employees did not follow the established procedure. Overall this felt a little suspicious and like bad business practice. Even if there were some communication issues with his employees, we felt that the business owner should have honored his word and refunded the fee after. Even with all information we provided and despite our protest, they stood firm on their price.

Really the best service I've ever experienced. Had my Jeep towed from Pacifica to Burlingame…read more Personally, it's the best local service I've ever used. And it's useful to remember that it's a service. What happens when you are provided service? You typically tip the person helping you. This is no different. These are human beings that work hard. Respect that. Remember the tip before the paperwork was started and only pay The tow truck driver. Never pay over the phone. Always pay day of tow. Before he starts writing you up. Make sure that's the time you tip. Trust me on this. 200 bucks is a freaking deal. It doesn't matter if it's getting towed a half mile or 20 miles. Tow truck companies have flat rates for local tows. San Francisco to San Jose is not local. However, if you live in San Francisco and you're towed somewhere in the peninsula, yeah, that's local crossing the Bay bridge. That's not local. People need to grow up and start realizing it. The bucket you're driving needs to tow and you're complaining about $200. Leave that whip on the street then. Trust me, that's the cheapest you're going to get for a tow. They could write you up for recovery and make it $500. 100% professional.

I'm sorry to say I had a very disappointing experience with Golden State Towing. My vehicle was…read morecompletely inoperable and only needed to be towed approximately 1/4 of a mile to a nearby garage. Despite the extremely short distance, I was charged $260, which I felt was excessive and unreasonable. There was little explanation for the high cost, and I left feeling taken advantage of during an already stressful situation. I understand towing services have minimum charges, but charging this much for such a short tow seems unfair. I would recommend that anyone considering this company ask for a detailed price quote before authorizing a tow. Based on my experience, I would not use Golden State Towing again and cannot recommend them.
