This family owned business and worked by the only the family is above any other Plumming business in the area. They are fair with their quotes and even go above and beyond in their personal services. I have had them install outdoor facets, bathroom toilets, garbage disposals, plumbing for a bathroom sink, pressure control for water pressure (which if you live in certain areas of Wallingford is needed or your hot water heater can blow - mine and two of my neighbors did the same morning). Not a very good experience. Initially, Michael came out and quoted the work I needed done on a house I was selling here in Wallingford. I thought we were off to a good start. Delay after delay from him, mentioning he had to go to court for something (TMI TBH), and he FINALLY showed up 3 weeks AFTER initial visit. From the start Michael seems distracted like his mind was elsewhere. He was mumbling to himself (I thought he was on his cell) talking about his son or something. He brought the wrong valve, then he cut into a hot water pipe that wasn't even part of the project ! He started the bathroom, then said all this was taking too long and he had to go. He asked for payment for the work so far, which (im now sorry I did), finished the day, and NEVER came back to finish. Poor Quality Work, Dishonest, and Unresponsive Poor Work Quality: Mike from Wallingford Plumbing installed a water heater for us in 2017. Within 4 years, the cold water fitting was corroding due to improper installation. Once we noticed the corrosion, we realized that the cold water fitting was not secured as far down the nipple threads as the hot water fitting which resulted in an improper seal and eventual corrosion. We had to replace the water heater tank after less than 4.5 years which is about half of the expected lifetime! The plumber who replaced the damaged water heater tank said when they disconnected the original fitting, it was obvious that the installer hadn't used any pipe dope or thread sealant so it was not surprising that the connection corroded. Using Wallingford Plumbing & Heating was an expensive mistake! Dishonest: Initially, we tried to give Mike an opportunity to repair the rust damage to the water heater tank. He came to look at the corrosion and claimed he needed to special order the fitting. After he left, I looked it up and it did not require a special part. He also claimed that he would have his wife schedule the repair when the part came in, but we did not receive a call or text to schedule a follow-up visit. He said it would take days for the part to come in, but any plumbing supply (or even Home Depot/Lowe's) carries the fitting so if he wanted the work, he could have gotten the part easily. Unresponsive: I initially contacted Wallingford Plumbing in early June regarding concerning corrosion that was noticed on the hot water heater tank that Mike has installed 4 years earlier. It took 2 calls to actually get on Mike's schedule. He finally came to look at the corrosion in mid-June; he basically used a wire brush to rub the visible corrosion away which resulted in a small leak from the fitting (there was no visible leak until after Mike inspected the corrosion). He recommended that we just put a rag around the fitting until the repair could be done. A week later, I hadn't heard from Wallingford Plumbing so I followed-up; no response. Another week went by and I followed-up again; no response again. By mid-July, I still hadn't heard back after calling and texting to check on the status of the part and reminding Wallingford Plumbing that they had left me with a leaking water heater. Finally, I got a call back and Melinda claimed she "dropped the ball" and she would check to see if the part was on the truck and try to get us on the schedule; again, she never called me back. Bottom-line: If you enjoy spending money on poor quality work and wasting time getting the run around from an unfriendly plumber, then you will love Wallingford Plumbing. For everyone else, avoid using Wallingford Plumbing; you will regret it if you use them like we did. read more

Mike installed a new garbage disposal (reasonable - bought Insinkerator through him), but he also troubleshot and fixed (for reasonable fee + part) running toilet that was making a weird sound (not like running water). I particularly appreciated having a person on the other end of the phone when I called the number, not just an answering machine. Called Wednesday, work was completed first thing Thursday morning. Am now updating this review: Water continued to run a week later and called again. $183 later and am now seeing that new part did not do the trick. It is now 9 months later, toilet still running. Have shut off the water to toilet b/c after 2 calls and 2 parts, the problem not corrected. read more

Unprofessional and unresponsive. Called for an estimate for drain work on a bathroom remodel. Was called back in a timely manner, Mike the plumber came out quickly and provided a very detailed estimated based on what we discussed. After deciding to use Wallingford Plumbing and Heating, they ignored my calls. I was able to text the woman who answers the phone and was told after two calls in one week to schedule the job, that Mike would be calling me that evening to schedule. That call never came. I tried once more (3 strikes you're out) with the same result, nothing. If they had not wanted the job (???), I would have been fine with that. To string me along and waste my time, I am trying to get a project done, is inexcusable. read more

I had emailed Mike the owner of Wallingford Plumbing and Heating and he had not yet responded to that email. I had sent the email 5 days ago asking for a ruff estimate of how much it would ruffly cost to put in a walk in shower, a jacuzzi, and to remodel the basement bathroom. I truly think it is not very good customer service to not respond to an email within 2 days of when the email was sent. I truly would not use this service since there is apparently very poor communication and customer support with the owner. read more

Although I didn't call him about my water heater, he went up to my water heater and put his hands on it causing movement. I yelled at him not to touch it. After he left, it started leaking out of all of the connections all over the place and cost me a fortune. Not sure why a plumber would go up to somebody's water heater and put his hands on it to break it. Obviously, every good plumber knows enough not to do such a thing, therefore, I feel it was done to take advantage of me because it was very expensive. Do yourself a favor and get a reputable company. Additionally, what I called him for, only part of the job was done, the very simple part, since he was lazy even though it only took a few minutes but I was charged for the full hour. If you have a minor leak or problem that can wait a week or more for someone to actually show up then Wallingford Plumbing and Heating will work for you, maybe. But do not expect a call back for a few days, or the plumber to show up on time or even the day expected, with no call. I recently waited a week for a repair and was told they are busy or they will call me back, etc....they do not return calls for days and gave me the runaround so I had to go elsewhere for good after wasting 7+ days of trying to setup an appointment for a small job. It is not the first time also with this company I had this issue and although I try to give my business to a small family owned company, the customer service here is horrendous and they are even worse with reliability. read more
