FYI: DEALERSHIP IN WALLINGFORd CT. be weary! I have a 2021 GMC Acadia Denali. I bottomed out few weeks back, it was fairly minor, when backing off of a hill. Since then there was a rattling noise under the car that worried me And seemed to be getting worse. I took it to Wallingford GMC (I've been there before, wasn't a fan then) I am a middle aged female, not stupid! AND this wasn't my first rodeo!!!! I had purchased an extended warranty for car when I bought it. They told me the noise was from a "cracked exhaust flex pipe, AND that 2 other pipes would also need to be purchased in order to fix it. " also, they said I had a radiator leak and cracked oil pan ( something like that never any fluids seen in garage or driveway and no check engine lights on. It all was covered under warranty except the exhaust flex items. OK... the quote they gave to fix the flex pipes was around $1200-1500... plus my car would need to be at the shop for 3-4 days or more so they could do some fancy 2 day inspection, AND charged me about $150 for the "diagnosis" visit of all day!! I don't believe they even put it up on the lift. they probably figured because I am a woman that I don't know shit about cars, and they're right, but I do know a lot about how NOT too get ripped off! Then I TOOK IT to a local Garage for a second opinion (Hometown Garage in Portland CT--you rock!) because the dealership was mad expensive I am a broke ass, AND it just didn't sit right with me. Garage told me it was a loose bracket under the car (that holds things in place) likely from bottoming out few weeks back(duh), they fixed it in less than 4 hrs at the shop, AND the cost was $86!!! They also said there were NO leaks or cracks they could see. Lesson learned: ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPPINION, DONT TRUST DEALERSHIPS, ESPECIALLY WALLINGFORD GMC. read more

My car wouldn't start and I didn't know why. Had it towed there on a Friday from another shop who couldn't find the problem. Didn't have an appointment, but called ahead and let them know it was coming. Service manager Chris had little concern for my dilemma, and said they were very busy but would look at it on Monday. They didn't look at it until Wednesday and just kept saying they were busy. They were able to diagnose the problem and said it would take 4 hours to fix, so I said ok. I was called Thursday and told it would be ready Friday. Late Friday was told still hadn't been looked at and would try for Monday. Chris had no care that it had been there over a week and still wouldn't be brought in until Monday. When I complained that the car had been there over a week, and would still be there another 3 days his response was that some cars had been there over a month. While I give them props for diagnosing and fixing the problem, his lack of care and ambivalence to my situation was disgusting. And on top of that, their rates are totally unbelievable. I would recommend you stay away from this repair shop unless absolutely the last option. read more

My car was having transmission issues. Specifically with the torque converter. I could not be more satisfied with the service I received all around. The repair was paid thru a warranty company which made things more complicated, however sam was knowledgeable and honest throughout the ENTIRE process. They gave me an out of pocket price aside from what was covered and despite extra hours and parts needed they stuck by their word and only charged me said price. 10 out of 10. Amazing people. I started my car buying process 2 weeks ago . I had a horrible experience with the GMC in Branford so I went back to the GMC in Wallingford because I had a previous positive experience. I worked with Gianmarco who was absolutely wonderful ! He was honest straight to the point didn't waste my time when I had to have my children with me. He spent 2 weeks trying to get me into an Acadia. One of the cars fell through, my bank wouldnt approve the 2nd and finally he assisted me in getting numbers where they needed to be in order for me to get approved by my bank .3rd time was the charm. Wallingford gave me the most money offered for my 2 trades. They made the delivery process so easy. Gianmarco kept in contact with me even on his days off. He updated me throughout the entire process. He knew I had a deadline as to when I wanted to get things done and he made that by a day. He listened to what I needed and wanted and didnt give up when I thought about not going forward anymore. He went beyond what any sales consultant has ever done. I see all these 1 star reviews, this wasn't my experience at all. the dealership I got my lease in closed. Wallingford GMC went out of their way to pick up the pieces and get me moving in the right direction. the sales/ maintenance advisor Chris is always helpful and up front. very through. Wendi in dealer sales held my hand to transfer me to a new lease pretty close to my terms. not her fault I don't have perfect credit, I knew that already. of course if you aren't familiar with vehicle services, they will sometimes suggest a bigger cost service. this is the same with any chain/ dealer typically. at least they don't lie about services needing to be performed. everyone always treated me with respect and never 'pushed' me to get anything. just gave the options suggested. this alone is better than most, and GM financial has been good to me. This place is the WORST dealership I have ever encountered. I thought I was perhaps an outlier in terms of my experience until I read other negative reviews on its homepage and saw the exact same types of really horrendous service. My check engine light came on on my leased Buick Encore; brought it in for diagnosis, tell me that it will cost $135 to run the diagnosis test. Call me back and said is a faulty part, but no worry, as I have bumper to bumper warranty on my leased Encore. Problem is the part may not be in for 2 days OR 2 weeks!!!! This is for a Buick part at a Buick dealership. Been very patient and call 2 days AFTER the outside 2 week period. I can understand a part delay from a 3d party auto shop, but this is a Buick shop for a Buick part. I am at a total loss how this could happen. If anything physically exist anywhere, it can be over-nighted. Now, more than 2 weeks later, and still no part and service department reluctantly communicates after a call. This is NOT the kind of business you want to have any kind of relationship with. Do yourself a favor and go to any other Buick dealer!!!! Other general observations: the service department waiting area physically is old and tired. The waiting space is dark, confined and depressing. The service desk employees are not the friendliest. Never see a smile. Its like they can't be bothered. Hard to imagine a worse customer service encounter. I think GM has a huge problem with this particular part and but is incredibly miserly with their supply chain. So, even though is a huge need for this part, they have not increased its supply and just makes dealers and customers wait and wait. 2013 GMC Sierra, I bought it new and have it dealer serviced at GMC dealerships. Last oil change was at WBGMC. I noticed oil spots in my driveway. It was due to a LOSE OIL FILTER. I pay $95 dollars to have my vehicle serviced properly. WBGMC needs to improve quality control. read more

The service department has the worst customer service of any car dealership I've ever experienced. Unfortunately they are unpleasant and unhelpful both in person and via phone. They transfer your call without any notice resulting in you explaining your issue 2-3 times. They don't have reminder calls or emails, while not required is a nice touch. I've had weather mats installed that bulged on the sides and when I brought it to the attention of the service manger, he explained it's the way they shipped and it should 'work itself out'- four mounts later, I still have a bulge in my weather mat. I had a very poor experience with this dealership. They were not trustworthy and just will say what you want to hear to make you purchase the vehicle, even if it is a lie. I purchased a used truck from salesman Michael Mathieu. The first thing I noticed when we test drove it was that the tire pressure light was on. Michael assured me that was being fixed, and went on to talk about other work they were putting into the vehicle. I was also given a copy of the '172 point inspection' completed on the car. I was told it was a 'no pressure' environment, but the two times I tried to leave, was pressed to wait and listen to their counter offers. I ended up buying the truck since 1. I needed a truck for work and 2. They were offering to fix some issues with it, mainly the ball joints, tie rod, tire pressure light, and a tear in the seat fabric.  A few days later, I picked up the truck and, as soon as I pulled off the lot, noticed the tire pressure light was still on. I turned right around, and Michael drove the car around to the service department. After waiting a while, he came back and said the light would turn off when I drive around for a bit because the tires just needed air. I drove it for a day, and the light still did not turn off. I also noticed my front auxiliary outlet wasn't working, despite the '172 point inspection' saying it was verified as operating. I went to check the tire pressure to see if I had a leak and discovered the valve stem for one of my tires was broken and you could not check or put air in the tire. I immediately went back to the dealership and first went to service. They told me Michael brought the vehicle, they recommended a fix, and he chose not to do it. I tracked him down and he told me he put air in himself. Either he lied or broke the valve stem. I'm not sure why a salesman took it upon himself to do work on the vehicle. I was given a very hard time about these problems, and they tried to blame me for the broken valve stem and told me I could have blown the fuse for the auxiliary outlet. I guess the customer is always wrong at this dealership. I was then told the tire pressure light is actually on due to a bad sensor and they will fix the valve stem but not the sensor. This is the third dealership I've ever worked with, but the first time I've had such a bad experience. It is clear they cannot be trusted. I was told the tire pressure light would be fixed and it wasn't. I immediately found something incorrect on their 172 point inspection and was given a very hard time about it instead of offering to fix it. It makes me question what else might have been marked as 'Good/Working Condition" even if it wasn't? I was sent an email (probably auto generated since it came in around 3 AM) asking how the vehicle was and if there was anything they could do to make my experience perfect. I wrote back to fix the tire pressure light. They didn't even respond. I do not recommend buying a vehicle from this dealership. read more

So I checked the oil on the vehicle and saw that the oil level was down at the very tip of the oil stick! The coolant level also was very low in the reservoir! I became very upset and called the dealership to let them know that the vehicle was not serviced cause as far as I was concerned the vehicle did not have oil! On 12/06/2019, I took delivery on a 2015 GMC Terrain, 85,993 miles. On 12/10/2019 had to bring it back for repairs. When purchasing a vehicle you expect that you can trust a GMC dealership right?--Wrong. Shouldn't all maintenance be new and taken care of, i have a document 12/11/2019 "5 DAYS" after delivery stating all the items needing attention by their Mechanic. The items needing attention-Wiper Blades, Visible leak inspection the following items need attention Engine oil, transmission, engine cooling system, brake fluid, washer fluid, transfer case(nothing was filled); Tire Inspection the following need attention All four tires, rotation, alignment, balance; Brakes front and back need attention; Vehicle and Functional Inspection needs attention soon-Air filter, engine air filter, Hoses, Shocks and Struts, Exhaust system, Chassis components. A few days car started making a noise, took it to get an oil change little to no oil the oil was black, filter was black. On 3/23/2020 at 90,829 miles not even 5000 miles later car is inoperable and Engine needs replacement, i now have to come up with $6000. They said it is my problem, I haven't hit the warranty mileage but it is over 60 days. Do they care that this is my only transportation? NOPE!!! read more

Complete waste of time going to Wallingford Buick GMC today. My wife and I went into to purchase a brand new 2020 Terrain as advertised for 24,000 after rebates and incentives. After wasting half my day and finding out that it's a high interest rate that I must take to qualify for any of these rebates and my payments would have been astronomical it was a complete waste of time. The salesman Mike told me he had two Certified Pre Owned that would work for what we were looking to spend. We went home and dropped my 14 month old off with my mother inlaw and went back. He showed us, talked my wife into liking one, and even taking it for a test drive, only to find out It once we said we would take it, it was $10,000 more than he initially said it was, once again a complete waste of time. Looks like I should have come here to read the negative reviews before I traded in my vehicle and bought a Certified Used vehicle from them, since it looks like someone else got an incredibly low trade in value as well. I went into Wallingford Buick GMC with the intention of just looking, but ended up trading my 2016 Buick Encore with 36,000 miles in for a 2017 Certified Used GMC Terrain. My car (the Encore) had just gotten back from the body shop since it was hit while parked in front of my house. I disclosed the accident to the salesperson, which I believed was the right thing to do. I requested they write a letter stating the depreciation in value for the responsible parties insurance company so I could maybe get that money back. The finance manager did that for me and I agreed to the trade in price of $9,000 (stupid of me). I later found out from another automotive professional that I was very clearly taken advantage of. He sent me the NADA report and Wallingford Buick GMC gave me the same price as someone trading in a vehicle in "rough" condition. Even with the accident, my car should have had a trade in value of over $11,000 and they gave me $9,000. The accident clearly doesn't make a bit of difference to them since they are currently selling my Buick Encore for close to $17,000 (Certified Used no less!!). When I came back a few days later to pick the 2017 Terrain up, I asked the salesperson where the 2nd key was. Turns out, the vehicle was returned from a lease without the 2nd key. If I wanted one made, I would have to pay $130 for a new one. Meaning, I gave them a car for $3,000 less than I should have, gave them $20k for a new one and now had to shell out an additional $130 for a key. A few days later the salesperson called me to let me know when I could come in to get the key made, I asked if the dealership would cover the cost of the key and he said no. When I was finally able to get down to the dealership to get the 2nd key made, the service manager told me it would be $130. I said it's a little ridiculous I have to pay for a new key when I bought this vehicle certified used, and then he did some computer magic and gave me the 2nd key for $50 (Sam - you get 5 stars from me!). Later on when I emailed the salesperson how disappointed I was that they gave me such a low value on my trade in (well below the average for a 2016 Buick Encore in very good condition) and the fact that I still had to pay out of pocket for a new key, he claims it was only because of him that I got such a great discount on the key. I don't believe that to be true since had I kept my mouth shut and not mentioned that I had just purchased the vehicle, I would have paid the full $130. He was no where near the service counter that morning and clearly Sam would have not told me $130 if the salesperson had prearranged me to only pay $50 (again, it's only $50 but why did I have to pay anything?!) My advice - stay away from this dealership. My experience has taught me that this dealership is all about making money anyway they can. I will never get another car here, or get my vehicle serviced here. read more

The service department is the worst. I have been having idling problems and other issues on my car for a few years. I have been working on cars for 20 years and needed a professional diagnosis. They told me that they would be able to find out if the problem was in the IAC or the ECM, which is something that other mechanics could not do. So I trusted them to look at my car. I asked before hand for them to torque some bolts to spec on the throttle body (I had just replaced the TPS the day before and didn't have a torque wrench with a low enough setting.) I also asked them to tell me what tests they did to my car. When I got it back, they couldn't tell me if it was the IAC or the ECM, which was the first thing that I was interested in. They also didn't tighten the bolts, which could in itself create high idle. They couldn't tell me what tests they did and looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if they tested the vacuum lines or the electrical connections to the throttle body. And they repaired something I didn't want repaired, so now I have to dig around in my engine and disconnect the tire pressure gauge (another mechanic broke the sensor off one of my tires, so my tires always read as if they are low.) When I wrote an email to the dealership to complain, I was directed to buy a new car, when I asked for my complaint to be sent to the service department, it either wasn't or was and then was ignored. I was hoping to resolve this without complaining on Yelp. But since that has not happened, but I figured I'll warn you: if you want a good and decent mechanic, don't go here. I also saw them charge a guy $60 for a cabin filter change and talk him into yearly brake fluid replacements. Unreal. read more

I've been to a few dealerships in my life before and am on the up and up with all the sales tricks because I keep myself well educated when I plan on making a $20,000+ purchase. I think I'm a sales person's worst nightmare. Three years ago, I walked into Wallingford Buick GMC looking for a Sierra pickup. The young sales guys wearing suites were really not appealing to me since I wanted a truck. I was introduced to the older sales guy, Frank who ended up being my sales guy. Unlike other dealerships, the initial discussion was about what I wanted instead of talking about my finances. He let me test drive exactly the truck I wanted, and was very good about answering all of my "sales guy worst nightmare" questions. Unlike most places he didn't try and upsell me. In the end, I got exactly the truck I planned on getting when I walked through the door at a pretty good price as well. I would give them five stars, except the slowness of their service department. They are really nice folks, not trying to upsell me on things I don't need, but the service takes forever. I've even given it multiple chances, but my scheduled by appointment oil changes take over two hours. I hate going to one of those quick lube places, but they have me finished in 15 minutes. Suggestion to Wallingford GMC, for the guys looking to buy a truck, you should have another sales guy not in a suite. I'm looking for rough and rugged, not metro whatever. read more

Liars, liars and more liars. Going back to '91 WB have consistently told me things, across decades, that aren't true. ie. free oil changes for as long as you own the car. I kept using the oil change deal so WB reneged on their oil change promise. My second encounter with WB my wife bought a 2008 Lacrosse which was littered with fast food and wrappers. My wife brought it to their attention to please clean it up and go over the interior. Nothing was done to the car. She waited a whole day she took off from work(without pay) for the phone call from WB with financing approval. After 6 pm that she called the salesman ,Larry, to ask what's going with the loan approval. The salesman, Larry the Lounge Lizard, never followed up with the loan and did know who my wife was when she called to ask what's going. Also, I was quoted the amount of labor time for replacing a door handle. The counter service person gave me a time frame of 1.0 hr. to do the job. His exact wording was a " about an hour". To me "about an hour" means plus or minus 5 to 10 minutes of an hour. Come time to drop the car off and labor jumps up to 1.5 hours. How does about an hour turn into 50% of an hour added to the original hour? Bait and switch. Anyway stay away from WB, it's not worth it to be lied to. read more

We drove nearly 2 hours to buy a new Yukon Denali XL. Their ad on line and on their website stated "0" miles... We received a YouTube video from Chynna, the sales person, that displayed our NEW vehicle. This only reinforced our decision. Price was good, better than we found locally. We gave our deposit, sat with finance to sign papers and only when we were signing the odometer reading did we learn that the NEW CAR had 3750 miles on it. It was a demo being sold as new and we were never told. A new car may have 30 miles on it but not 3700.... We were eventually told that the car was driven by the owner!!! When sales staff and Manager were confronted, all we heard was..... The ads in the paper also have small print at the bottom that state- things printed may not be true, we're not responsible for misprints!!! That was quickly followed by what can we do to make you happy. We will do whatever it takes so that you give us- a good rating - a 5 star when asked! I have 5 letters for them. Worst experience ever buying a car ! We live an hour away and had to make four trips to get the car! They sold the one we traveled to look at and no one called to let us know. When we went in to talk to our contact he passed us off to someone else, They lost paperwork and dented the car before it even left the parking lot and their solution to fixing it was less than even looking new! I have complained about the top on my Pontiac G6, but it seems to be all better now and you repaired the leak that was created when you repaired the top. You also fixed my headlights and replaced the bulbs at no cost to me. This time, I wanted to say thank you and "Excellent job". I purchased a 2016 GMC Terrain. The whole purchase experience was far from pleasant. Everything I was told, including time to pick up was all wrong. When I got the vehicle home I noticed that the passenger side tires had dry rot. Since this car was sold certified, I called and spoke to the Service manager. He looked at the report and told me that service recommended changing these tires but sales would not do. I complained and was given a service appointment to replace the tires. When I took the car in, I asked if they could change just two tires on a AWD car. I did not get an answer. When the car was down, I was told that four tires were changed. I asked if the tires were new, and was told they were better?? I asked if alignment was done, which the service manager would be done. I was told no. When I took the car home, I realized that they put a different size tire on and had removed the 17" rims I bought car with and changed to 18"???? Obviously I went ballistic. That saga ended with four new tires, on the original rims with an alignment. Also as part of the purchase agreement, I had a cracked speaker cover which was promised to be replaced. I purchased a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 in October 2015. Had it serviced and noticed a Vibration issue with the truck. I went back and for with the service department because they agreed it had and issue but could not fix it. To make a long story short the General Manager Byran stated "that he cannot do anything for me with a "buy back." And told me to call GM. Now I am going to take legal action. Anyone looking for a new 1500 series truck should stay away from All the 1500 GM makes being a Sierra/Silverado 2014-2017 they all Vibrate. Take your business elsewhere! They want to make sure you don't have time to think about their offer when low and behold I found the same same vehicle for $2k less. The GM called me to follow up on our earlier conversation. Then he decides to match the offer! The next day, while waiting for the GM to call me on financing rates, he texts me to tell me he sold the car! The GM is someone that I actually worked with at a previous job but his true nature is revealed! I can't speak for everyone there but don't trust LE. He's the stereotypical car salesman! read more

Not shocked that this place only has 2 stars. The only reason why I'm giving one is because I can't give none. Paid for a car cash, they never took it to emissions before selling it to me, not even a week later check engine light and ABS light went on. Brought it in and they made me pay the labor fee. Maybe a week later the same lights came back on, AND I received a letter for a late fee for emissions!! REALLY?! Brought the car into for them to tell me they "think" they will pay for O2 sensor and they're "pretty sure" that everything will be cover! Mind you the only reason why they even guessed the answer is because I sat in the waiting room for over an hour until a manager came out, that didn't even know he was supposed to come out due to sales rep Mason not relaying info. This place is very bad Business I would have never spent over 15k on a car if I knew it was a piece of shit.
