Yesterday, today and tomorrow. I have been a semi regular customer at their service department for a decade because the owner has been able to balance quality service with reasonable pricing. That is no longer the case as I recently discovered. Yesterday (Feb, 2024) at Star Auto it cost me $39.99 for a regular oil change. Today (July, 2024) I went to Pep Boys and it cost $35.99. Tomorrow if you go to Star Auto expect to pay $82 plus taxes and fees per a sign posted in their service department. Yesterday (Sept, 2023) the cost of tire rotation at Star Auto was $19. Today I had my tires rotated at Star Auto at a cost of $32.55. Tomorrow I will be heading to Pep Boys where there is no charge. Yesterday (Sept 2023) my wife had a synthetic oil change at Star Auto for $89.95. Today (July, 2024) my wife had a synthetic oil change for $78.68 including taxes at Pep Boys. Tomorrow if you go for a synthetic oil change at Star Auto expect to pay $115 plus taxes per a sign posted in the service department. read more

Janine B, you just tried to call me, almost 2 weeks after my car was supposed to be towed there but did you ask me what happened ? I had only one triple A tow left and I used it to clean my car out of my possessions and then proceeded with the repo. It is not my fault that rather than moving with urgency your team and company gave me BS excuses and lies and still was not able to produce anything. You think I'm going to take a Repo over just some talk and not straight hard fact and proof that you were able to fix the vehicle all you stated was that you were calling around to see if anytime could help out, and even when you did you guys still wanted me to come out of pocket when you were the reason I was in the situation in the first place so you respectfully kiss my PHAT ASS, BOTH CHEEKS !, Your so called team was only saying was that you were able to do that and you were possibly able to repair my engine that but no one was able to reach out to me to confirm that someone was actually able to fix the vehicle because like I stated even if the vehicle had an open recall on it due to your service departments mishap and carelessness, they were not able to legally fix or perform. Let's not forget how your dealership has called me twice now just to ask to remove my review, that's okay though I understand got to make your money. I see that you might not be able to do much but I have reported you to the Better Business Bureau once again so hopefully someone above you can step in and approach me professionally and you may not see me with a lawyer next week but please believe me when I say, this is not the last time You will be hearing from me. I worked with Steve Zanetto, Gary, and Janine. They were all very friendly and genuine. I bought a used 2011 Camry Hybrid, which I love! The only thing I needed was an extra key for the keyless entry/ignition, which they didn't have at delivery. I wanted to see if they followed through, and they did not disappoint. Four days later, I have my new key. The car is beautiful, and I would highly recommend Star Auto Sales to anyone who asks. I've been driving the same car since high school, so a few years back, it reached the point when it started needing a lot of repairs. I had gone to some of the big-name chains that would charge me an arm and a leg and tell me I needed 1000 other things done, and I had gone to a smaller place that would charge me less than those big-name guys but didn't know how to fix my car, and then I found Star Auto. It was so refreshing to find nice, honest guys who do a great job at a fair price and don't tell you to get something done when you don't need it. When I have a problem with my car or want something checked, this is where I go. It's also where I go for my regular oil changes because for the longest time, they've been charging $20 flat, including tax. Most recently, I stopped in to check my brakes because it's been a while since I've changed my brake pads, and because I needed an oil change anyway. They told me my brakes were fine, and I went on my way, thankful that I could hold off on that expense. On top of auto repairs, they also offer some great detailing packages. My parents surprised me with one for my birthday a few years back, and my car looked brand new, inside and out. read more

I got the car back with more problems than it came in with. My wife brought her car in for a transmission flush, stab bar, and inner and outer rods... new left with a check engine light and two codes. Upon further inspection, they somehow managed to break a clip for a knock sensor and two other wires in the harness. Tried blaming everyone but their shady mechanics. Stay away, there is a reason these mechanics stay here and aren't able to work on anything more than brakes and oil changes...manager in the service department had a very different attitude once he wasn't able to threaten a female once I came in after my wife was told she won't get the car back until he decides to give it back. read more

My car's interior and exterior was LONG overdue for some TLC. Let's just say we adopted a puppy within the last year who sheds a lot, has thrown up in the car multiple times and he always happens to barf in those impossible to reach places like the crevice between the seat and door, etc. I was beyond happy when I found a Living Social deal for a reasonably priced detail. Although Meriden isn't that close to my house, it was an awesome deal that I couldn't pass up. An interior and exterior detail that is usually $179.00 (for an SUV) ran be under $100!! Making the appointment was easy, and since I don't live very close, I just decided to their WiFi connection to work remotely until my car was done. I talked to Tina on the phone and she was so friendly and bubbly. Definitely had good vibes before going in which is always nice! My detail took about 2 hours and I couldn't be happier! My car smells like rainbows & sunshine and is so clean that I feel like I just drove it out of the dealership. I would highly recommend Star Auto Sales for their detailing services! As Tina, who is at the desk in the service department says, "We're old school". Star Auto is the old-school garage that you can trust to do things right. I brought my car in for detailing and ended up leaving it to be repaired (two dashboard lights had come on). I didn't realize they were also a repair facility and when I said it was going right from detailing to the dealer to be checked out, they asked if I wanted them to look at it. I couldn't be happier with the service I received or the price. First, my car is impeccable - the cleanest it's ever been! Tina said that they've had the same person doing detailing for years and "he takes it personal". My 2000 VW Bug is shining, inside and out. Second, they diagnosed the problems and gave me a very reasonable quote for the work that needed to be done. Parts were ordered and I had my car back in less than 24 hours. I thought the price charged was very reasonable for the work done. What I love about Star Auto is the people who work there. I've talked to the owner as well as Tina, and it's clear it's very much a comfortable, family-type business. They are down to earth, easy to talk to, friendly and honest.
