Yesterday, today and tomorrow. I have been a semi regular customer at their service department for a decade because the owner has been able to balance quality service with reasonable pricing. That is no longer the case as I recently discovered. Yesterday (Feb, 2024) at Star Auto it cost me $39.99 for a regular oil change. Today (July, 2024) I went to Pep Boys and it cost $35.99. Tomorrow if you go to Star Auto expect to pay $82 plus taxes and fees per a sign posted in their service department. Yesterday (Sept, 2023) the cost of tire rotation at Star Auto was $19. Today I had my tires rotated at Star Auto at a cost of $32.55. Tomorrow I will be heading to Pep Boys where there is no charge. Yesterday (Sept 2023) my wife had a synthetic oil change at Star Auto for $89.95. Today (July, 2024) my wife had a synthetic oil change for $78.68 including taxes at Pep Boys. Tomorrow if you go for a synthetic oil change at Star Auto expect to pay $115 plus taxes per a sign posted in the service department. read more

I love this dealership! I have purchased the last 3 of my vehicles here and this is the only shop I use for my personal vehicles and family as well. The sales people are amazing & the Finance Manager Liza is the best there is. The mechanics and service department top notch. read more

I bought my car from STAR AUTO. It has been a great car. Only one repai, the Starter. That was fully covered by the extended warranty. Which Star Auto submitted for me. I get all my maintenance work from them. The big 100,000 is coming up. I debated. Should I go to the dealer for that? But, I know the people at Star Auto, so I feel sure they will take good care of my car and ultimately me. read more

I have been dealing with Star Auto Sales for many years now and cannot say enough good things. They have serviced our van with such excellence. Jerry is extremely service oriented and always gets you in for an appointment and gets the repairs/service done quickly and efficiently. Steve Farmer has been tremendous in helping all of the folks that I have referred to him. Everyone has given nothing but the most positive feedback. He has helped my family taking car of our van and going above and behind when our van's transmission blew. He walked us through the entire process of realizing it was time to purchase a new van vs. repair. Star Auto Sales is a top notch business that deserves more than 5 stars. read more

After dreading the hunt for a used car and trips to car dealerships, we read amazing reviews about Star Auto Sales. We decided to give them a try and we couldn't be happier with our decision. It turned out to be the most stress-free experience we've had buying a car. No high pressure sales but a friendly staff willing to go above beyond to ensure we were more than happy with what we were buying. We have already recommended Star Auto Sales to our family and friends. There is a lot to be said about a family owned business of 40 years! Gary and Liza are the best! Special thanks to Janine for going the extra mile for us! If you want a great, affordable used car, save time and go to Star Auto Sales FIRST! read more

Janine B, you just tried to call me, almost 2 weeks after my car was supposed to be towed there but did you ask me what happened ? I had only one triple A tow left and I used it to clean my car out of my possessions and then proceeded with the repo. It is not my fault that rather than moving with urgency your team and company gave me BS excuses and lies and still was not able to produce anything. You think I'm going to take a Repo over just some talk and not straight hard fact and proof that you were able to fix the vehicle all you stated was that you were calling around to see if anytime could help out, and even when you did you guys still wanted me to come out of pocket when you were the reason I was in the situation in the first place so you respectfully kiss my PHAT ASS, BOTH CHEEKS !, Your so called team was only saying was that you were able to do that and you were possibly able to repair my engine that but no one was able to reach out to me to confirm that someone was actually able to fix the vehicle because like I stated even if the vehicle had an open recall on it due to your service departments mishap and carelessness, they were not able to legally fix or perform. Let's not forget how your dealership has called me twice now just to ask to remove my review, that's okay though I understand got to make your money. I see that you might not be able to do much but I have reported you to the Better Business Bureau once again so hopefully someone above you can step in and approach me professionally and you may not see me with a lawyer next week but please believe me when I say, this is not the last time You will be hearing from me. I am now trying to make the best of the situation I am in, thank you once again for reaching out to me but your dealership/service has done nothing but give me more heartache, more stress and now I'm walking or asking for rides to work, I have no vehicle to get around with my daughter a babysitter but thank you so much for feeling the need to comment on my review, have a great day! read more

Star Auto Sales - Auto Repair Near Me - Meriden, Connecticut

We just purchased a car from Star yesterday and Liza was such a joy to work with. She was friendly and attentive with no pressure sales. We would highly recommend Star Auto for any future purchases or car buying needs:) read more

We would recommend Star Auto Sales to anyone! We had a specific car in mind to purchase and with the help of Car Gurus found Star Auto Sales in Connecticut. Even though the dealership is 2 1/2 hours from our home in NY the people and service at Star made the long trip worthwhile. We had a fabulous experience working with our salesperson Liza! She has a caring approach and is a true professional.  She was happy to answer all our questions and made it a point to be sure we knew everything necessary to make an informed decision. The finance manager, Gary was equally as wonderful.  Once we decided to purchase, he made the rest of the process painless.  He knew all the ins and outs of making an out of state purchase.  It was a true pleasure to purchase at Star and there was absolutely no pressure at all.  We were really pleased with the knowledge, skills and friendliness of the entire staff. Every Star employee that passed through the showroom greeted us and other customers.  Great service and friendly employees makes your customers feel that you care about developing a long-term relationship that means more than just making a sale. Great upfront customer service and prompt handling of the work at very reasonable pricing. Will return next time.

Star Auto is amazing! The staff are friendly and treat you like family. I have been trying to diagnosis and fix my car for a while. I went to multiple dealerships to look at my car and they were no help. Star Auto took my car in same day I called, they did a through inspection, and diagnosed the problem within a few hours. They made all the repairs and had my car running like new. So grateful for their service. I now have a reliable auto shop and feel safe on the road. read more

A HUGE THANK YOU to Gary at Star Auto. Wow. I totalled my car last week ....so I had no trade in. If that wasn't enough, I was still on a loan with my ex ... And with credit history the odds were against me. Gary treated me with integrity, and let me know he WOULD get me approved. That being said ... He knew which car I wanted most for my family ... And made it happen. An HONEST, no pressure, fair customer-oriented transaction. Let me tell you .. I've bought from the "major" dealerships in the past (Honda, Hyundai) but this was different. Star's/Gary's primary concern was ME .. my family needs and financial needs. I look forward to coming back for regular service. This is a dealership to have a relationship with, long term. read more

The best car buying experience I have ever had! My husband and I came to see a car with our 8 month old daughter. They let us look around the lot without breathing down our necks. It really was so low pressure and I felt totally free to make the best decision for us, which means we walked out with exactly the right car. And Liza was beyond helpful during the entire process. I honestly can't imagine buying from anywhere else in the future and I will definitely be using them for service! read more

Dealing with service couldn't be easier. I brought my car in and they noticed a much more serious problem than I originally thought. They wouldn't let me take the car until it was up to their safety standard. Even though my warranty company is hard to deal with they fixed the car, took care of me, and even picked me up to get my car. Many thanks Jerry and crew, you guys are the best! read more

I've been driving the same car since high school, so a few years back, it reached the point when it started needing a lot of repairs. I had gone to some of the big-name chains that would charge me an arm and a leg and tell me I needed 1000 other things done, and I had gone to a smaller place that would charge me less than those big-name guys but didn't know how to fix my car, and then I found Star Auto. It was so refreshing to find nice, honest guys who do a great job at a fair price and don't tell you to get something done when you don't need it. When I have a problem with my car or want something checked, this is where I go. It's also where I go for my regular oil changes because for the longest time, they've been charging $20 flat, including tax. Most recently, I stopped in to check my brakes because it's been a while since I've changed my brake pads, and because I needed an oil change anyway. They told me my brakes were fine, and I went on my way, thankful that I could hold off on that expense. On top of auto repairs, they also offer some great detailing packages. My parents surprised me with one for my birthday a few years back, and my car looked brand new, inside and out. read more

I was looking specifically for a Toyota Camry, and had been to other dealerships and just got a bad vibe at those places. Star Auto sales was different. I researched their reviews on the internet and knew a couple people who purchased their cars there and got them serviced there as well. From start to finish, I had a great experience! I worked with Steve Zanetto, Gary, and Janine. They were all very friendly and genuine. I bought a used 2011 Camry Hybrid, which I love! The only thing I needed was an extra key for the keyless entry/ignition, which they didn't have at delivery. I wanted to see if they followed through, and they did not disappoint. Four days later, I have my new key. The car is beautiful, and I would highly recommend Star Auto Sales to anyone who asks. It's hard to find a good, honest dealership that puts the customer before the sale. read more

My car's interior and exterior was LONG overdue for some TLC. Let's just say we adopted a puppy within the last year who sheds a lot, has thrown up in the car multiple times and he always happens to barf in those impossible to reach places like the crevice between the seat and door, etc. I was beyond happy when I found a Living Social deal for a reasonably priced detail. Although Meriden isn't that close to my house, it was an awesome deal that I couldn't pass up. An interior and exterior detail that is usually $179.00 (for an SUV) ran be under $100!! Making the appointment was easy, and since I don't live very close, I just decided to their WiFi connection to work remotely until my car was done. I talked to Tina on the phone and she was so friendly and bubbly. Definitely had good vibes before going in which is always nice! My detail took about 2 hours and I couldn't be happier! My car smells like rainbows & sunshine and is so clean that I feel like I just drove it out of the dealership. I would highly recommend Star Auto Sales for their detailing services! I am sure everything else they do is great, but only had the detail done here. read more

Always a great experience with the service department, especially Jerry. He makes setting appointments very convenient, appointments are handled quickly and keeps my car running efficiently at a fair price. That's very important to me since my business keeps me on the road a lot. Jerry and Star Auto have earned my business and my loyalty. read more

As Tina, who is at the desk in the service department says, "We're old school". Star Auto is the old-school garage that you can trust to do things right. I brought my car in for detailing and ended up leaving it to be repaired (two dashboard lights had come on). I didn't realize they were also a repair facility and when I said it was going right from detailing to the dealer to be checked out, they asked if I wanted them to look at it. I couldn't be happier with the service I received or the price. First, my car is impeccable - the cleanest it's ever been! Tina said that they've had the same person doing detailing for years and "he takes it personal". My 2000 VW Bug is shining, inside and out. Second, they diagnosed the problems and gave me a very reasonable quote for the work that needed to be done. Parts were ordered and I had my car back in less than 24 hours. I thought the price charged was very reasonable for the work done. What I love about Star Auto is the people who work there. I've talked to the owner as well as Tina, and it's clear it's very much a comfortable, family-type business. They are down to earth, easy to talk to, friendly and honest. I plan on using Star Auto exclusively now for my automotive repairs. After all, how often do you leave an auto repair shop with a huge grin on your face? read more

I just purchased a "new to me" vehicle from Star. We've had our cars serviced there before and that's been a good experience, so when the time came to buy something, we thought about them first. The car purchase was so simple thanks to Liza, Gary & the whole team. Their website made the "research" part very easy too. If you are in the market for a used vehicle, they have many great options for every budget. I'd recommend Star for both sales and service! read more

Used car shopping is a very stressful experience. It took me weeks. Initially, I did not think I could get a loan on a car but Gary managed to get it done. Liza was my Sales person. She did not pressure me and was open and honest about the history of the vehicles. I was able to test drive the cars on my own. Once I decided on a car Liza followed trough with things we had agreed on. Liza was a pleasure to work with and eased my stress. Then I took the car back in to have a car starter installed. Chris in Service was wonderful. Very helpful. He helping me set up my phone and understanding the computer things in my car. So far I can only give great reviews. read more

I had a fantastic experience at Star Auto Sales this past fall! The whole staff, especially Liza, went above and beyond to make the experience straightforward and easy. When it turned out that there was something wrong with the parking brake, they offered to keep the car to fix it, installed a roof rack, and drove the car up to me in Massachusetts at no extra charge!! This was definitely the best experience I have had buying a car and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy a car! read more

I got the car back with more problems than it came in with. My wife brought her car in for a transmission flush, stab bar, and inner and outer rods... new left with a check engine light and two codes. Upon further inspection, they somehow managed to break a clip for a knock sensor and two other wires in the harness. Tried blaming everyone but their shady mechanics. Stay away, there is a reason these mechanics stay here and aren't able to work on anything more than brakes and oil changes...manager in the service department had a very different attitude once he wasn't able to threaten a female once I came in after my wife was told she won't get the car back until he decides to give it back. read more

Liza was great but the other guy that was their he was really rude and wanted me to come up with 5k so I can get a loan like wth and on top he said we can't help you rite know really disappointed read more

After a very bad experience with a less reputable dealership, we ended up getting the car we were looking for at Star. Steve was easy to talk to, listened to what we wanted and followed through to the end with no drama and no difficulty. Star Auto is the best place to bring your car! They are very honest and have great customer service! They never try to add extra services if you don't need them . I have recommended my whole family to go there and they are all happy! read more

From beginning to end everything was A+ The owner picked me up at the airport and drove me directly to the dealership whereupon Liza had my vehicle ready to inspect. All questions were promptly answered by the knowledgeable staff, especially Liza! While waiting for paperwork to be completed Janine was kind enough to provide lunch. So I sat down with the owners and we ate. That is a great personal touch you don't often find! After we settled on everything the vehicle was gassed up and ready to go! I had a long drive home and it was nice not to have to stop for gas! I live in Maryland but will not hesitate to make the trip again because of Star Autos FANTASTIC customer service! read more

Car just went in for brakes a few hours ago, haven't gotten it back yet but ready to give these guys top rating. Great customer service goes a long way! This is my first time using Star Auto but I went on recommendations of friends and co-workers (all of our fleet maintenance is done through Star Auto) and absolutely NO complaints. Great job to the whole team and thank you Steve! read more

Steve was extremely responsive and made the process of buying our car quick and easy. He didn't try to upsell us or charge any hidden fees. He let us take it for a test drive alone and test out our carseats to make sure they fit. Gary in finance bent over backwards to get us the best terms and monthly payment! Everything was such an easy experience and we absolutely LOVE our car. I will definitely return for our next vehicle purchase. read more
