Pancakes with strawberry topping and a side of bacon, plus coffee
Robyn S.

I came to eat here for the first time a couple of months ago for breakfast and was really pleased with my whole experience. I've looked at Walker's for decades and just never managed to dine there for any reason, but wanted to eventually give it a shot. I knew there would be limited space since the restaurant is just a small room, but when I took the plunge and went in I was grateful that it wasn't packed so I didn't have to sit jammed between strangers like a crushed sardine while we're all perched on backless bar stools. I ended up ordering off of the unofficial menu- the blackboard that contains temporary specials or seasonal options. I got a pancake plate with bacon and coffee. The bacon was fixed perfectly and the pancakes were wonderful; I was more than thrilled with my choice. My review would be 5 stars if there was a bit more of 2 things: privacy and space. The whole shtick of Walker's is that it's a tiny place with limited space, but if it was maybe 2-3x bigger I'd feel a better sense of comfort.

By far my favorite local spot in town, old school lunch counter that has a southern comfort menu with daily specials. This spot is well worth any wait time. Quick service, delicious comfort food and friendly staff. A true gem of Farmville, VA.

Outstanding ! The service was lovely and timely! My friend and I sat outside. They have 3 tables spread out so not a lot of room. I had a BLT with crispy chicken. Delicious! Chicken was crispy and juicy and the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh! The French toast with strawberries was OK. The strawberries and sauce had lots of flavor but the toast was a bit bland. Definitely worth a try though! My friend had the crispy chicken biscuit with chipotle honey sauce! The biscuits were delicious!!! So flaky, buttery, and flavorful! Overall give this place a try! They have bar seating inside and a bathroom around the back.

A nice quaint diner with charm that seats about 15 people max inside. However, on warmer days they have ample outside seating. The inside is not very spacious, but the counter top seating with built in bar stools provides sufficient space to eat your breakfast or lunch comfortably. You can even see the cooks preparing your meals. Service was friendly and fast! I ordered the sweet potato pancakes with sausages and a side order of fried apples. My husband had the biscuits with sausage gravy, hash browns and eggs. The portions were generous and the food was downright delicious! It's a no frills, home cooked style, honest meal that was prepared with pride and care. Surprisingly, my sausages weren't greasy either and the food was very filling and didn't load us down. We were both incredibly impressed with the quality of food. They even sell homemade dog biscuits, which I contemplated purchasing for my siblings' dogs, but the treats required refrigeration. (We reside 2 hours away from here). Note: We later realized after leaving, that they have parking behind the building. There is a small entrance to a lot behind the diner. We ended up paying for street parking with coin meters across the street. Initially, we were in a parking lot nearby but realized that particular lot is for green front furniture and three other businesses and towing is enforced. So we left to find street parking. Bathrooms: It didn't appear to have restrooms, but fortunately there are clean public restrooms a few feet away from the diner to the right, if facing the diner.

Burger split two and served two ways.

We enjoyed a fantastic burger at Walker's Diner today. A nostalgic and quaint diner setting. Super friendly staff. The burger was cooked from fresh meat right in front of us on a griddle. My wife and I split a burger. Who does that? A man told to do it by his wife. They were kind enough to split the burger and serve in separate baskets with fries. A great experience. The breakfast looked great as well. My only regret was listening to my wife and spitting the burger. Next time I will have my own burger because it is that good. Highly recommend.

Honestly a hidden gem. Gorgeous sitting on the patio at night you can hear the river and there was…read morelive music too. The date night special was a huge bang for your buck!! Steak was delicious and the crab dip was our favorite appetizer!

It was my first time visiting Farmville, and I wanted to check out a local restaurant for dinner. I…read moredid notice that Charley's had varied reviews but the more recent ones seemed positive, so we gave it a go for dinner. It was a nice day, so we asked to sit outside. As a party of two, they don't allow you to sit waterside, because, as I heard the host tell most every party that arrived after us as well, those tables are reserved for larger groups. So, keep that in mind if you're looking for waterside dining. We were seated next to the door, and I didn't notice until halfway through the meal that my chair was covered in cobwebs. Kind of gross. The floor to the exterior patio was also very dirty. My mom was stomping away at ants. I'd recommend they consider cleaning more outside, especially considering it's the main allure of the restaurant. After being seated, our server greeted us. She was overall friendly albeit a bit slow, and when I asked which Riesling was sweeter (they had two), she didn't know. She asked a manager, who replied that he can't drink on shift. It was a polarity compared to the service the table next to us later received from the bartender, who provided samples to them and was on top of things for them the entire meal. I was mildly jealous, honestly. Without the option to sample, I selected a Riesling at random (the German one), and it was fortunately very good. I also heard the sparkling Moscato was pleasant. We ordered the jumbo pretzel to start, which came with a tasty cheese mixture. I would say that's where the good part ended for me. My mom didn't want our salads to arrive with the pretzel, so she asked for them to be spaced out, but then it took aaaaages for the salads to come out. The cheese on the ceasar was good, but that's about it. I couldn't taste any dressing, so I left most of it behind. I was torn in between the mahi and red snapper entrees, but ultimately chose the red snapper despite the server calling it fishy. I asked for extra sauce when I ordered it, but it came with regular sauce, so I asked again. It took some time to arrive as the kitchen had to heat it up, but when it did arrive, it was a TINY amount. I was so perplexed. The fish itself was not that great. It didn't taste fresh to me. My mom ordered the ribs, as they were explained to be really good and "fall off the bone." Can attest they were not. They were actually very fatty. They never should've left the kitchen. I relayed this feedback to our server, and she took both of our meals off the bill since we didn't eat them. I was shocked but thought that was very kind of her. I'd say this spot needs some more quality control between food and cleanliness. I'm unlikely to return personally, but it's worth a shot if you're in town and interested in waterfront dining or a nice glass of wine, I suppose.
