We traveled to the Walker River with a group of 47 people for a week stay. Adults age 30-45 and children ages 9 months - 11 years old. This is not the first time we stayed here. We have always made an annual trip. Everyone had a great time! Pool was a great accomodation after being in the dry weather riding, kids enjoyed it a lot. Grounds and camp sites were kept up nicely. Bathshowers could of used TLC. The people who shot trap was very impressed with the course. The ladies at the store who checked you in were wonderful and very helpful. We had security issues from day 1, so make sure you read the rules throughly otherwise you will be a target: Rule: Fires must be extinguested by 11pm. Security was at our site at 11:03pm telling us to throw water on our fire and go to sleep or they could have us removed! Really?? We were sitting around camp fire with our children telling stories and enjoying the late night view of the stars. Not teenagers making a rukus. Rule: No riding dirt bikes after 7pm. One of our children age 10, started a bike at 7:15pm and moved it to the other side of our camp versus walking it. Again, we were threaten to be removed for breaking the rules. Rule: No riding to the store, walk. A father decided to drive his handicap wife on quad to the store. Security YELLED for him to stop and told him to park it and walk. If he didn't we would be removed. REALLY??? In return this "father" did yell back only because of the rudeness nature. Rule: There was absolutely no rule for this incident. However the owners family member became hostile with 3 fathers with 7 children when they decided to go late night repilte site seeing. They drove 1 mile per hour looking for animals on what they believed was the Walker River property. They did pass signs that said "No Tresspassing" but assumed those were not for nonpaying guests. It was dark and they were ROAD BLOCKED by two vehicles. Kids were crying and scared, Dads became very concerned and defenseless. This person was calling them names and using vulgar language in front of the kids in a threatening manor. We didn't believe it at first but one of the kids recorded it. When we all watched it we decided this place just isn't for us. Besides the ladies in the store and the bar tender..Security and the Owners family member (they know who they are) were flat out RUDE. The owner himself, is the sweetest man EVER! We understand that places like this need rules period. I agree with most of them 100%. However, if you are working with travelers and the public you better have a "people person" personality. There was no reason to be rude which in turned made a few of our members upset in return. This is our exerpience here, I'm not speaking for everyone else. I know it's a great place to stay. It's too bad it ended up how it did. read more

Flies! Thousands of flies made sitting outdoors unbearable! Sites are dusty, dirty, and management lets water flow continuously on trees, which also attracts flies. Nice pool and lots of shady places, but no effort to diminish the flies. That said, ATV's can go for miles. Rather expensive compared to other RV parks. Next time we will head for Bridgeport. read more

Stayed here in RV hookups. What a fun place! Miles and miles of dirt bike/ATV riding. Saw more ghost towns and old mines than you can shake a stick at. Sporting clay course blew me away. You have to see it to appreciate it. The lady's that run the place are as nice as can be. Only negative was the crusty old security guy. Just make sure to get a spot as far from his trailer as you can. He's just old and bored and looking for something to complain about. Not bad enough to knock rating down though. Will be coming back in the future for sure! read more

This was our first time at Walker and I am sure it won't be the last. Had a great time. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We got there on Monday April 2, the first day of the season. A couple nights were cold(down to 19 degrees), but when the sun came out it was pretty nice. A ton of OHV riding right out of the campground. I wasn't told the bathrooms would be closed, which made it kind of a pain having 6 people share one bathroom and shower in the trailer. But that was my only complaint. We all had a great time and plan on going back again. read more

This is one our favorite places to visit! I'm sorry Sarah J. didn't enjoy her stay, but we have never had that experience. The owners and employees have always been extremely friendly and willing to help make our stay more enjoyable. WRR is a great place not too far away with something for everyone in our family. read more

This place needs to be advertised as an ATV camp site. There is no where to fish that is within walking distance. The ATV's and bikes going day and night is far from relaxing. The most annoying thing is when we arrived and checked in we were told the sites prices were wrong and we had to pay an additional $50. $150 for 2 nights? not worth it at all. They pack you in like sardines. I woudn't recommend this place to anyone. Horrible Horrible Horrible!!! read more

First, let me say that we have been coming here for the last 10 years or so. We've always come with a big group of people and it's where our kids grew up riding dirt bikes. We've always enjoyed our stay for the most part, except for on occasion we encountered an employee having an off day or the security guard was taking his job WAY too seriously. So, with that being said, I have some history to base my review on. A group of us stayed here this past weekend, 2 cabins for the 6 adults and a tent site for the 20 something year old kids. We arrived Friday late afternoon. It's a long standing tradition to start the vacation off with what used to be a signatory "Mudslide" cocktail at the bar. The bartender had no idea what we were talking about. That's fine, things change, but she also didn't even know what it was or how to make one. That's ok too. A little strange for a bartender, but hey we are out in the middle of the Nevada desert. She seemed put off about having to make 7 cocktails, which we handsomely tipped her for and then ordered another round. Maybe it was just her personality, but I felt like the hipsters who just walked into a biker bar....not really feeling the love, even after spending over $100 in drinks within 30 minutes. Ok, moving on. Having a great time back at the cabins actually enjoyed a sudden summer rainstorm which threatened to douse our BBQ meal. Watched several intense lightening strikes that eventually lead to the power going out around 6-6:30pm. No power? Ok, we are camping(glamping), not a big deal until we realized that also meant no water....which meant no toilets to flush. Now, I'm not faulting WRR for the power outage, but when after 3 or 4 hours of no power one would think that the staff would be instructed to check on the guests at the cabins; nobody knew how long it would be out for. People in trailers are self contained, guests in cabins rely solely on the conveniences of the cabins. No one came around to check and see if maybe we needed some ice to keep our food cold or perhaps some buckets to gather water so we could flush a toilet in a dire need. NOT ONE member of the place came to check on any of us. The power did not come back on until 3 am! 9 hours people! 9 hours with no toilet and no power. I threw a large portion of our food out because I did not trust that it was still stable after sitting in a lukewarm frig for 9 hours. Did I mention that it was over 100 degrees that day, so the evening was HOT. The frig was not able to keep stuff cold for too long in that heat. We went down to get some ice from the store, but it was closed. So next day, we are over it. Glad to have the power/water back on, now let's move on with our family gathering. Had a great time riding/shooting/laying by the river. Back at the cabin for dinner and party. Again, having a great time until the local "security" comes barreling into our yard and says that we are being too noisy. I was so embarrassed! I apologized and said "I'm sorry, I didn't realize that we had gone past quiet time." He said "oh you didn't it's only 8:30 and quiet time is at 11pm, but the owners say you are being too loud." WTH? Why make a quiet time curfew and then adopt a different time just cause you feel like it? We were dancing and singing...being together as a family. Were we loud? Probably, but weren't hurting anyone and we were still within party hours. I just feel like they could have cut us some slack with what we had to put up with from the night before. Overall, the group consensus was that we had a good time because we were together, but we will opt for another place to gather next year based on the attitude of the staff, the cost benefit of the cabins, the smell of the cows and the flies..... read more

Finally got to take a trip to Walker River Resort! We had a group with 4 RV's and spent a total of 4 days here in July. We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and there were other campers but it was pretty quite. Our biggest complaint is the older guy that rides around in his golf cart policing the resort! He came in our camp first thing Thursday morning and accused us of riding our quads in to places were shouldn't, like the golf coarse and other places??? He said he saw our quad (green Polaris-which there were a few of) up there at 11pm and we weren't allowed to ride after 8pm. We told him that we are always respectful and that we were in bed at 9pm due to being tired from travelling and set up so it wasn't us. He said he seen it there and don't do it again! Is this guy the fun police because he had us upset first thing on our first day there! They say it's a atv friendly resort but this guy barks at people for riding to the store to buy their items and for riding the kids to the pool and back. They seriously need to get a handle on this guy because he's causing problems with customers. Not just us but two of our neighbors that were being totally respectful too. I would say we had a good time and the amenities are good over all. The pool is nice for afternoon cool downs! The bathrooms were pretty dirty and gross on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning but by Friday night they were cleaned up-I suppose for the weekend crowd? We were a little annoyed that they were left dirty throughout the week days with the price they charged for there sites. We will probably give it another shot hopefully soon but if the "fun police" pulls the same kind of stuff again we wont be coming back. read more

Spent 3 days at Walker River Resort on our Honeymoon. Had an amazing experience and enjoyed every second. When we arrived we were greeted by the "Kathy's" who were so friendly and helpful, they set the tone for the rest of our visit. We went to our cabin which was really, a little house with windows everywhere and million dollar views. It had a fully stocked kitchen, and even a dishwasher! From the front we had a panoramic view of the mountains, river, and desert from our own private covered porch and patio area with comfy chairs, picnic table and grill. Amazing! We fished in the river, had a blast trying our luck at one of the sporting clay courses, and launched 3 different day trips from our beautiful home base at Walker River. in the evening and in the morning we enjoyed the most gorgeous sunrises and sunsets that you can imagine. There was so much to do that we never got a chance to swim in the pool or jacuzzi, maybe next time. Aside from the insanely gorgeous views and super friendly people, the whole place was immaculate. Every surface inside and out was clean, and the landscaping was incredibly beautiful with well manicured lawns and beautifully maintained grounds. Very private and very romantic honeymoon with all the amenities! read more
