We go to WRR every labor day and memorial day. This last trip was great although it always is. The pond was gorgeous and they have 2 adorable resident ducks. My grandkids had a ball feeding the ducks. The pool and hot tub are always on our list. The river access area is wonderful. Dena and the owner are so sweet and always remember camper names, what they drive and what they camp in. They always have a smile for everyone. The skeet shoot area is on our list everytime. Beautiful grounds and friendly people. The clubhouse and bar are always hopping. The food truck is delicious. We love it there and look forward to returning each time. We had a great stay over Father's Day 2025! I came in with relatively few expectations and left looking forward to another visit to this RV resort. Now I've only camped in my RV twice. The first place had beautiful views of the Tomales Bay but no real amenities or ambiance, and felt more like a gravel gathering place for RVs than a campground or RV resort, so I was pleasantly surprised as we drove through beautiful Smith Valley and made our way into the cottonwood grove of Walker River Resort. As you arrive the roads are well marked and signs easy to follow through to registration. There's a nice little clubhouse that has the bar/lounge, office, and pool deck. The staff was friendly and helpful getting us checked in and to our site and acclimated to the resort. The grounds are well kept and the sites nicely shaded by the mature trees. Ours was #2 and had a nice view of the pond. I had been told that much mean mosquitoes but the pond also had two continuous fountains that kept the water moving and helped keep them at bay. Each site has a picnic table and ours had water and electric. Ours had 30amp, which is exactly what we needed, but unless we read it wrong, the website seemed to suggest they only had 50 on property so I hope this info is helpful. I understand some sites have full hookups, but don't worry if you can't get one because there's an on site dump too. Amenities were good imho. The pool deck was nice, with loungers, tables?, chairs, and a small lawn section to sprawl out on. There was also a hot tub (18+) and bathrooms. The pool itself was on the smaller side and full of kids and families, which was great. The sealant/coating of the pool seemed like it was peeling off a bit and the pool was def not heated, so be prepared for a chilly dip. Whole cold, we found it super refreshing for us after our days in the desert! Great to have this available while staying here! We also got to use the shotgun sports ranges, which I must say was my favorite amenity! The ranges are located outside the resort and you drive to them. Facilities are maintained enough to have a great time. Two sporting clays courses and five stand are available, and to use them you check out a counter in the clubhouse and they check it and charge you on your return. Bring your own ammo and gun and have fun! They also have a desert golf course (with clubs and balls you can use), easy access to OHV lands for dirt bikes and other toys, plus direct private access to the river for fishing and swimming too, when the river is moving a bit slower. All in all I was very happy with our stay and I hope the property continues to improve because I'd like to come back! read more

It used to be a good place for families. Our last visit was a big disappointment. All the bathrooms and showers were closed, without disclosing at time of reservation. People lighting off fireworks from midnight until after 2 am. Guests were ripping around in trucks and utv's after midnight well over 10 mph, despite the "no after dark" for utv rule. Think twice before spending the money. read more

Another stay, another weekend to be disappointed. High rates, less services. We've come here for years bringing friends and family along, and I think I'm finally ready to call it quits. It's a shame to see this place go downhill. This Father's Day stay was just as crowded, and full of rowdy, late night drunken bullshit. Where is the overzealous security guard when people are up at 2am with loud music & their fire still going?!?! They literally screamed at kids to get out of the the hot tub this year. Saying parents would be fined $300! What?!? The freezing cold NOT HEATED pool and I was told the shower/bathrooms will never reopen. BUT...there's money to lay down gravel and spray the streets with water several times daily. read more

We just stayed in one of the cottages as we have done a few times before. Each year they seem to get worse and worse. I get these cabins are in the desert but when we checked in there were at least 10-15 spiders all over the inside of the cottage. Dead bugs everywhere, dead bug guts all over the walls and cabinets. Spider webs everywhere. Unknown white stains on the bed comforter. (Thankfully we brought our own bedding). Smoke detector missing from wall. Fire extinguisher not charged and ready for use. Just felt gross and dirty. We love staying here but like everyone else is saying the quality and care is going down hill big time. We will probably look elsewhere where for next years trip. read more

READ THIS SO YOUR NOT FOOLED BY REVIEWS AND THEIR WEBSITE. We came here for the first time after people raving about this place. Basically it's not that great. It was clean, they did water the main gravel driveways to keep dust down which was nice because it is very dusty. For being an off road vehicle friendly campground and paying per day for each off-road vehicle there's not much room to actually park anything. Which was frustrating. There are picnic tables but no fire rings. There's trees in every site but not the kind that produce any shade and they have drip systems that you are required to keep on which flood your site. So now you have dust and mud. The ponds they advertise in the resort are full of algae and green. My son called it a slime pit. The bathrooms and pool were not open so I can't comment on that. The office is only open Thursday-Sunday. We checked in on a Wednesday so our name was on the board and we pulled up to our site. We were not greeted or saw anyone our entire trip giving us a map or anything to even tell us where the trash cans are. The place IS NOT KID FRIENDLY. It is in regards to there's the road to ride their bikes that's all. The staff IS NOT FRIENDLY. My mother in law took my two kids to the store to buy them some ice cream or candy they are 3 and 6. The lady would not let them inside and said they cannot come in and the store is out of the resort by the road that you first turn in on. WHAT!? It advertises a store in the resort. We also had a very unfriendly run in with a lady in a white SUV the first time we took our side by sides out. We went on a trail minded the resorts MPH rule closed gates behind us like it said. This lady flew up and came out all fired up yelling at us that we were not supposed to be on these trails and we went through no trespassing signs. The signs were unclear as we interpreted them as guests were allowed. It was an honest mistake. To be treated like that especially with kids present is not okay. Would have been nice to been talked to respectfully and talk like adults and come to the conclusion we made a mistake. We also were told that the trail we were on we can't be on which upon looking further into it copper belt dr is a Blm trail. So we had every right to be on that trail. Maybe we could have gotten there a different way. There are no trails from the campground. We were told the only fishing is from their gazebo area and it's catch and release. Maybe because the river is so dirty and mucky brown. No clear spots. There is a very large cow farm right up the river not that far at all. Our guess it's so disgusting because the cows are contaminating it. As well as the grass area being completely covered in goose poop. Which I get they don't have control over but don't plan like a day there on a blanket or anything if you do decide to go to the nasty brown waterway. Further down the river at Wilson canyon it's not that way and it's not catch and release. Which there are no trails to get there either. You have to ride about 8-10 miles on the pavement. Which is the way the lady told us to go. To get to the ghost town DO NOT FOLLOW THE RESORTS DIRECTIONS. It got us so lost it was ridiculous. We figured we'd use that instead of our gps because it was forest service markers l. Well the markers either got removed or they give wrong directions. Which btw the lady yelling at us told us to go to the front to get a resort map smh. The hospitality of this place. We do a lot of camping and this place IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE. We will not be coming back. We thought getting to trails to go riding would be a lot easier than it was. I've included a picture of the map in case someone else is unfortunate like we were and got no welcome anything We'll continue to go elsewhere. Save the disappointment Find a different campground. For reference to copper belt dr the website is ohv.nv.gov. If you click on Wilson canyon and look at the trail map, find Walker river resort and the trail on the government website shows the trail we were on leaving the resort going to Wilson canyon. Very expensive RV park. You now have to pay for your off road vehicle besides the over priced daily rate. Went to enjoy the amenities they said they provided only too find out they closed the pool and hot tub for the season. We made reservations way in advance thinking these were available. When we talked to the owner about it when we arrived, she was very rude and said we should have read the website because they just posted it a week before our trip. What really shocked us was when our family member said you should have informed us. Then the owner said to them " What makes you so special?" Now about the camp site. Bring lots of fly traps. I've never been to a place with so many flies. They water their trees so it floods your site and makes it muddy. The picnic tables must never get cleaned because there was a lot of bird poop all over it. Our family had 5 motorhomes and off rode vehicles, so we spent a lot of money there. And to be treated by the owner the way we were, we definitely won't be back. read more

We really wanted to stay here for a night before we left Nevada after a family reunion at the Walker River State Park. We had booked at the State Park for 5 day but the park double booked and we were told we had to be out Friday morning... So we said let go to the resort.. swim, visit the bar and relax the last day... but after we made two reservations for our spaces for 1 night, paid recieved a tentative reservation. I emailed and asked if possible if we could get two spaces near each other. I was email that they could accommodate our request if we booked a two night stay which is "required". I did not see this listed for the Rv spots only the cottages. The RV had a 3 day minimum for holiday weekends. We are hoping to get a full refund. We will be moving on down the road to a different Park. So I can say nothing good or bad about this resort, it looked amazing.. just disappointed we did not get to visit. read more

I can't take back what people read, but I can re-address my review and tell people that this place is beautiful, fun, exciting, and relaxing. We had a ruffle with another camper, it happens, they can't control what other people do. Sometimes all it takes is a phone call to resolve an issue and that is what Leia did at Walker River Resort. We had an incident, it's not a perfect world, right. After speaking with the owner, who is the sweetest person I have spoken to in ages, our issue was resolved 10 fold. Thank you so much for getting back to us and setting an example of eximplinary service and passion for your facility. Thank you Leia! We recommend this Resort for all ages and abilities! First time staying here as a local Nevadan, and I had pretty simple expectations. I had read all of the yelp reviews prior to booking. The good: ample space, nice sites, full hookups, the pool and the hot tub were nice. Most of the staff was very nice. The bad.... uhhhh the bad... I'm not the first to say it, the security guard. Dude takes his job way too seriously and he must hate people that four wheel or rock crawl. Because we had a target on our back the moment we parked in our space. He needs to find a job he enjoys. I'll leave it at that. The facilities are nice, but they are old.... I went to shower in the bath house and there were so many bugs and cob webs, I felt dirtier than I was. Gross. The price paid per night here, is pretty steep for what it is. Next time I'll dry camp for free I few miles away and save my $250 for four nights. read more

We have been going to this resort for almost 15 years. Its such a fun place with a lot of stuff for everybody to do. We booked a spot with grass in June of 2017 because we were celebrating a birthday. We invited about 20+ people who booked cabins and 5 other RV\camp spots. The plan was to have a potluck in the large grassy area. We called a month before our June 2018 trip to confirm our booking. They informed us that we no longer had the spot because they booked it for someone else. After prying for a bit the staff admitted that we in fact booked it before the other group. Then they admitted that the other group had been coming there for years. To add insult to injury they gave us a dirt spot with no grass right next to the people that they gave our site to! They had 6 dogs that were barking most of the stay. The staff member then admits that its her girlfriend and her friends that got the spot. We have never booked a spot and usually just take whats available so that wasnt the biggest issue. Its the complete lack of integrity and lying to us about how it went down. They said they may be able to comp us a night (or something) and would have the owner call us. No call, nothing. They could have said here is a free beer, we are sorry for giving your spot away to a friend. Or when they gave our booking away they could have moved us to another spot. Instead they acted like I wasn't even talking when I checked in. At one point the staff member says, "i think they booked it before you", and I started to explain and she just walked off.... we will have the owner call you lol. I just cant imagine owning a resort and treating one of my customers that way. They sacrifice the satisfaction of many to please a few. They are very busy so i guess there really isn't an emphasis on customer service when they are bringing in so much $$. Maybe they could go to online booking so you don't have staff members picking favorites. There is a reason we booked it a year in advance! They had no problem accepting the deposit! All in all still a great place to vacation, but you may have a better experience at some of the many surrounding resorts who put an emphasis on customer service. read more

I've read most of the other reviews for WRR, but we enjoyed our stay here. We had a cottage on a bluff overlooking the river, reminding my why this part of the Nevada desert is so beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the pool and the atmosphere. The RV/ATV/motorcycle guests were quiet this weekend, too, settling in before 10:30pm. There were a couple minor problems, but noticeable things on our stay: the smoke detector beeped very loudly a couple times late at night, which gave us a few startled jumps. We have no idea why this happened. Also, the general store was low on one particular item: drinking water. I think we bought the last gallon bottle for our cottage. Other than those two things, we loved it and we can recommend to anyone who is interested in enjoying the High Desert. read more

Not a great place if you're looking to relax. This is a 30 and under (with lots of kids) rv park. There is a constant rumble of kids on their little motorcycles buzzing the park. There was a kid, on a Honda 50, doing circles around our rv... for hours. I complained to the front office. They could care less. Very cool oasis about 45 min outside of Gardnerville. Arrived June 1st for 3 nights. When we registered, the staff was stiff (walking zombies) with no smiles and seemed irritated when we asked questions about riding our dirt bikes and places to visit. The RV sites were nice and well maintained. After a day or so, we went to take showers and had to stand in dirty water because the shower wouldn't drain. The water was barely hot enough. The mens bathroom at the pool has a resident mouse behind the sink that startled me. There was no area where you could ride your dirt bike or UTV to get to the river and have lunch. You had to walk but that was OK. Overall, I guess I was hoping for a more upbeat experience. Be careful where you reserve your RV site because if you are close to the ponds, the bull frogs are loud. Either soothing to the ear for some or very disturbing to others. Personally I liked them. read more

This is a great place to go if you enjoy shooting, fishing, dirt biking, General off roading, and other such out door activities. My father and I take our trailer out to here once or twice a year. I can admit they're a tad pricey, but with FULL RV hookups, store, bar, pool, spa, trail access, shooting range, and more, what's to complain about? The staff have always been generally friendly to me and my family (except one time a staff lady yelled at me when I was 10 cause I was speeding on my dirt bike, I'm 20 now. I was speeding but yelling wasn't necessary at a 10 year old so they're pretty strict about speeding which is understandable) other than this they've always been nice to us and we have had many good times here!! Basically, if you're looking for a quiet peaceful get away in your RV, this is the wrong place. But, if you're looking for a place you can go off roading, go drink at the bar, go shoot guns, and go fishing, you've found the right place. read more

We spent our eight year anniversary here and had a great time. The facilities were just as described if not better. The location is fantastic. We stayed in cabin 5, which was darling. These cabins have 3 beds one couch and a great kitchen. The cabins are CLEAN and cozy. The veiws are so breath taking you are looking out at the desert with snow cap hills. This resort has a store to get snacks and drinks with a full bar. You can play poker watch t.v., play a game of pool, or take a swim or use the hot tub. Not to mention they have one of the best shotgun courses, my wife and I have ever been too. We had such a great time we shot guns out there on blm land motorcycles and ATV's are allowed there as well. This place is very quite and nice for the person that likes the outdoor lifestyle. The staff is outstanding and courteous, they make you feel like one of the Walker River family. We are defintly going back next year. This resort gets 5 stars! Stayed here for Thanksgiving and it was great! Camping here was awesome, full hookups, beautiful views, super easy trail access. We even rented a cottage for one of the families in our party and cooked a huge Thanksgiving feast indoors (away from the rain). Cottage was fully stocked with cooking utensils, stove, oven, microwave, fridge and HEATER! The trails are super easy to get to for side by side riding and the views are beyond breathtaking. For years we have been going to and loving this camp ground. It has lots of nice amenities shooting ATV riding swim pool hot tub. However the last two times we were the flies were unbearable. As soon as the sun is up, they arrive in hoards. Covering your table furniture and you if you are unlucky enough to be sitting out side. They blame the flies on a cattle ranch close by, but do nothing to rid themselves of this plague. The store has been recently renovated but the shelves have little on them. There are no fly strips are anything to discourage the hoards of flies. If you are looking to go camping where you have to stay inside to enjoy yourselves then this is the place for you. I know we will not be back as long as these flies persist. read more

We have visited this resort a few times over the past year. It's great!! The resort itself is very well kept and the sites are pretty large. We have a 31' toy hauler, side by side and two dogs, so it's a perfect place for our needs. The bar, bartender and ambiance were great after a long day of riding. For the last 3 years my step-father puts on a 5 a-thon. It consists of sporting clays, desert golf, darts, horseshoes and calf roping. It is such a great event and growing by the years! The resort is amazing and all the employees are so helpful with everything! You can tell they all love their jobs! The cabins are very nice and the prices are even better. I'm not sure how many acres are actually the resorts, but it's huge with tons of activities for people of all ages. However, I just noticed they are increasing the reservation fees by charging you to bring your toys. $10 a day per bike; with 4 bikes that will be over $100 a night for us. Pretty ridiculous, that's the majority of their customers. My days of camping here are numbered! I'll opt to dry camp. read more

What a fun family place to camp! Even my dog had fun. The boys had fun riding for hours. There were a lot of walking paths over 4 days of walking and not a duplicate trail! The sites were large and clean. My husband was so over joyed by the hot showers, heat lamp and dressing rooms. Even with all the motorized toys, the camp is quiet at night. We can't wait to go back once the pool opens. read more

We recently stayed here and it was great. The weather was nice, a little warm because the Mosquitos were still out. The resort was clean. The pool was wonderful to go to in the middle of the hot day. Check in was easy. The ladies in the market were very nice, even the Gardner. The only reason I did not give a five star rating was the security officer. He was harassing people over things that didn't require his attention. When I tried to make friendly conversation with him it's like he couldn't hear me and would just point to his security shirt. At night we would be around the fire and he would shine his lights on us and in our eyes. We were not up past the alloyed time or being noisy. Our neighbors did not complain. It may be time for him to retire as he does not seem like he fits into the culture of Walker River Resort. We will be back read more

I have shot Trap and Skeet off and on for the last 30+ years. We, my Father and I, went to the WRR this last weekend and all I can say is WOW!!!!!! It was truly a humbling experience to shoot a REAL course. They have put a ton of money into the Clay Pigeon Machines and Logistics of Stations. Although we didn't stay at the facility it looked great. A place that you could have Family time or a Bachelor Party. this place is not nice at all. The pool is wonderful and all, but the owner was very mean he yelled at me and said we had to pick up a purple poop bucket! But then when the owner talked to my husband she said it was handled. Then when my husband went to work a security guard came and yelled at me. I would recommend finding a camping site that is close to the trails for ATVs but do not stay at walker river resort. Everyone, but the security guard and owner were nice. The pool is amazing, but employees do not communicate very well. All of the camping spots were very crowded I felt like I was in a RV park! read more

We stayed at walker river resort in the rv area and had a wonderful time. The men in our family found the place and the women were a little concerned that is was basically just a dude ranch. With the skeet shooting, atv trails, and the fishing we were a little unsure. But we had so much fun. They have a very nice pool and jacuzzi area that the kids and adults both enjoyed. There is also a quiet sitting area right off the bar that over looks the river and a grand natural rock formation, it is beautiful. Nice bar area with some slot machines and pool tables. They also have a great grassy area right on the river for play and picnics. The rv area has full hook up and the spaces are nice and flat. We didn't need to level our rv which was nice. Our rv site was also spacious and close to all the amenities. We also took the quads out on the trails through the mountains and checked out some old ruins. You can watch a beautiful sunset while out on the trails. We went in mid June and the weather was perfect for us, it was in the low 80s the four days we were there. We loved walker river so much that we are going back this summer. I am pretty sure this will be a yearly thing for us. read more

Here is the good and the bad about WRR. The GOOD - ATV Access, Pool, Hot tub, Beautiful evenings, and a pond with croaking frogs for the kids . Never had any problem with security or staff and we liked the old fella in the golf cart . The BAD - The nice pool had so many things floating in it it looked gross. Restroom was dirty for the first couple days and then finally cleaned. Also then sitting on the john your head is against the stall door . Plumbing in the bathroom shower was tricky to use ( hot cold ). Trucks drive by your camp to fast causing dust blow by. So many dogs. Barking and pooping. Needed to carry a flashlight at night so we wouldn't step in it. Also if your ATV friends want to camp there in a tent it is not allowed anymore. Tent Discrimination . read more

A group of us rented (3) cabins, I believe they were cabin 3,4 &5. They are spacious, have wonderful views and perfect for couple/families to spend time together in the evenings. There is a walkway between these cabins that worked out very well. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I will make a couple of comments about the need for maintenance/housekeeping in the cabins. Out of the 3 cabins only one stove top got hot enough to boil water, so we had to carry the food between the cabins to make it work. I realize that most people renting these cabins have been out all day playing in the desert and come in dusty and dirty, but the showers in the cabins were BEYOND filthy. They had not had a decent cleaning in many years, mold, grime & sludge. Some Clorox and 5 minutes of scrubbing and they would have look a whole lot better. If you rent a cabin, make sure you bring flip flops to wear in the showers. EWWWWW. read more

I won't be making another reservation at Walker River Resort. If you cancel even "months" ahead of your reservation, they charge a cancellation fee of $20. At first the clerk said $10 then changed to $20. I didn't receive a reservation confirmation with any cancellation information and then charge me. Oh my gosh, even 5-Star Resort don't cancel that way. read more

We have camped here once or twice a year since 2005. The owner is hot or cold but has definitely not demonstrated consistenly good customer service through the years. Her daughter & son-in-law seem to be the most sincere and the few improvements noticed through the years were when they were involved but have not seen them much in the last year or two. Very pricey for dirt roads and extremely tight spaces. Electricity has gone out almost every time we have been there. I happened to mention the frequent electric outages to a friendly neighbor while out on on a walk stating it must make him crazy, his response was it's a WRR problem and his electricity rarely goes out. Lots of other choices in the area that give better customer service and offer as much or more. read more
