I once got a bar lunch in here and they actually forgot to cook my kangaroo kebabs, dishing them up raw on the plate. As a dedicated carnivore I chowed them down thinking that was how they were meant to be, and asked at the end why they were served raw to the confused looking waitress who ended up apologising profusely as it turned out the cook had neglected to switch the microwave on. That pretty much sums it up here. It's big, soulless and of questionable quality. Gillian was also bang on about the unusually threatening bouncers. A bit of a let-down overall

If l was to do a review of this place say ten years ago l would have happily given a 5 star rating. When l first came to Glasgow, this was one of the places to go, well back then it was new and fresh. I had so many happy memory's coming here in my more youthful days getting drunk, with one of my actor friends who had a weak bladder, and every time he went to the rest room, l bought another round, poor soul did not catch on that l was topping up his glass all night till he was plastered and ended up on my sofa & being sic on it. Never again. Those where the days. I would say 100% that the food was a lot nicer and home cooked and the burgers where big & juicy today they are cheap tasting processed rubbish even on the garnish was a wedge of melon. They still have nice and comfy sofas but the one l chose l nearly fell through as the springs had gone, the sides where dirty with drink stains, and across from me was the wall paper peeling of the wall. Sadly the passion has all gone now and no one seems to care, well at least it looks like that now, I hope that the close soon only for a revamp.

There are pros and cons to visiting a pub like Walkabout. In this case, I think the pros are: 1. It's huge so you've got a good chance of getting a seat 2. It's reasonably inexpensive and deals and discounts are often available 3. Service is pretty quick The cons are: 1. It's often surprisingly loud, especialy when there's sport on 2. Sticky tables are common 3. The food is a bit whatever There are plenty of great pubs nearby to choose from too. All this means that Walkabout isn't often my first choice. However, when I'm hungry, in a hurry, don't have much cash and want to guarentee a chance to sit down for an hour, it suddenly becomes a safe bet.

I love Walkabout. It's spacious and welcoming, with friendly staff; most of which are Australian in keeping to their Ozzy theme. It's a Sports Bar first and foremost, with live sport throughout the day including Cricket, Rugby and Football. There's a doorperson all day everyday and you will be asked for ID, so come prepared. The menu is varied, and great. The burgers are amongst the tastiest in Glasgow, with good platters and amazing potato wedges. The discount card, priced at £3, pays for itself in no time - with 25% off food and soft drinks. It works out really well, value wise, and keeps me coming back. There's a good wifi connection as well and it's in a great location nearby the cinema and some nearby theatres. The cocktails are great, but when there are no promotions, the drinks prices are pretty expensive. It's ideal for lunchtime, or kicking off your night as a meeting place to get some food in and pre-booze action. The discount card used to include alcohol, but as usual the minority ruined it for the majority when some hassle got blamed on cheap booze and so it has now been stopped. Sigh. Doesn't deserve the bad rep it appears to get on Yelp. Oh, and it's Caledonian Universities new 'student union' upstairs which is an obscurity that continues to baffle and bemuse.

Coffee is nice. I'm a coffee snob, and I give thumbs up on this.

I'm sitting here with a friend enjoying a nice coffee. I'm only giving this a 3 star as I'm not eating today. Here to judge it on other things. This use to be a favourite of me and a friend. We started coming here hen it first open, and continued for a few years. I remember when they introduced the boomerang card years ago. It use to get you discounts on alcohol, soft drinks, and food. I think the problem started with top bosses being greedy. The lowered the amount discount on their newer cards back then, then made the card only discount food, rather than the drinks too. This resulted in prices increasing fast and over night. This place use to be so busy at night, and during the day time it done well with the amount of customers it got. I use to order the Kangaroo fillet, with, chips, salad, chutney. But as I said, when the prices jumped, that's when I stopped eating here. They are closing for 5 weeks for a refit, and will be launching a new menu. If they get this right along with the pricing, then I'll start eating here again. Another thing. The two staff working today, inc the manager I think are nice and friendly. Fingers crossed this place goes back to the place I loved, as I use to eat kangaroo fillet a 3-4 times per week here. Come and judge it yourself.

Hubs and sister's order... I wired into me before realising I should have took a pic for Yelp! Oops, bad Yelper!

Well, they did give us a splendiferous spread with copious plates of delicious food to try. In January they had a Winter Sale on with some meals available at £4 and £5 so decided to take advantage of this with my bestie and fellow Yelper Angela B. As a result I ended up with a taste tantalising wee mac and cheese topped with bacon bits including a wee bucket of chips. Not bad for a fiver. Boom! I've also frequented for drinks and they have an excellent bar selection, there's even some cheeky fruit beers in there. Yay! I would highly recommend popping in for a wee swally or a sit down meal within the designated dinning area. It's pretty, it's relaxing and the music is pretty good with some 90's indie beats to tickle your ear drums. Other music probably plays at other times. It's also bang smack right in the middle of town so super handy but ladies beware of the icy blast of the hand-drier in the toilets. Ice burns beware! Please note, not in the Urban Dictionary sense. "(noun): an insult so harsh, that it is both freezing and red hot. Often used sarcastically, like after "yer maw" jokes." Boab: "I wiz playing fitbaw last night." Shug: "I wiz playing with YER MAW last night!" Boab: "Ohhhhh, ICE BURN!" Enjoy and no ravens were harmed within writing this review.

I was in Glasgow and heading off to a real ale festival, and thought I'd better grab some food…read morefirst in preparation, so I decided to pop in here and check it out, maybe have a pint while I decided where to go to eat. I opted for the taster plank - 1 third of a pint of three different ales, served in a plank with the beer names written on. That in itself is a great touch, a few places don't identify which beer is which. I had a Casear Augustus from Williams Brothers, a Fake Lager from Brewdog and a Witless IV from Red Willow Brewery - as you can see, there's a great range to choose from and the staff were really helpful and knowledgeable about them all. While I was looking around and supping my drinks (the Witless was the pick of the bunch, fact fans!) I noticed the menu. I knew that The Raven were offering food, but wasn't too sure what. Looking at the menu, it looked pretty nifty so I figured I'd just eat here, and I was glad I did! The food is BBQ based - low and slow smoked pork, burgers, ribs, that sort of thing. There's been an explosion of this kind of food in Glasgow recently, I perhaps lay the blame at the feet of Adam Richman and Man vs. Food (my dream job too, it has to be said) but I'm not complaining! I opted for a pulled pork burrito with a side of spicy cheesy fries, and at £9 for the two, it was a steal. They arrived quickly, the fries in a basket and the burrito served on a platter. I was given cutlery before the food arrived, and what looked like a carrying case full of sauces, salt, pepper, kitchen roll and a great sight, a wet wipe! A great thing to have when eating what is esssentially finger food! There wasn't a long wait at all for the food; The burrito was lovely, really filled to the brim and fresh - but the spicy cheesy fries were stunning. Covered in jalapenos, cheese and a smoky, spicy BBQ sauce, they were quickly devoured. I could honestly have had a second helping of those on their own. A great first impression here, not just for the great food, but for the really helpful and friendly staff, and the attention to detail that the whole place shows. It's somewhere that I can see me returning to time and time again.

Myself and the bf have taken advantage of this deal a couple of times and the chicken wings are indeed very tasty, we do also keep meaning to try their other food but haven't done it as yet - minus the stealth fries which were a bit of a letdown to be honest. However, besides a Tuesday, I can't really see myself going to NYC Bar. I don't really like the atmosphere and the tabletops etc. are usually a bit sticky. It's just not a very nice place to sit and have a drink or whatever when there are so many other, better places in Glasgow - especially since there are so many nearby. There's usually some sort of sport on so obviously if that's your thing then you'll love it, unfortunately it isn't mine and I'm not generally massively keen on sports-bar-type places. I don't really have much else to say about NYC Bar, other than Chicken Wing Tuesday is definitely worth trying if you like wings!

Tuesday night wings. 10 wings for £2. What could be better!…read more The wings are good albeit quite small but for the price well worth it. The classic buffalo sauce was by far the best although the teriyaki and siracha were also tasty. We also had fried dill pickles, mozzarella sticks and the seasoned fries. Thumbs up for the dill pickles although again quite small. Mozzarella stick were nothing special but the fries were great. I would definitely come back. The service was very good, with quick and friendly staff. The decor is nothing special and probably a place to take your mates or girlfriend but not a first date. I wish the wings were a bit meatier/bigger and. That they had the little drums and / or flats wings and would be happy to pay more if they did. But for 2 beers and a load of decent food for £24.50 it is a winner every time. They also have loads of tv's and play all sorts of sports.

This is a surprise update for me…read more My previous experiences of Drury St have been very blah - I previously have them 3 stars mainly for potential and having a big space. So, last Friday I was meeting a big group of friends and figured this would be a quiet place where we could get seated together. And we did, but it didn't remain quiet for long. It was another relaunch for Drury St - gone is the previous bad management with ideas that just weren't likely to work, instead they've now built an actual team of staff. And it works. The staff were fast, happy and friendly. And the beer was cheap! A round of 2 Joker, 1 carling and a large white wine came to £11! We had only intended staying here for an hour just to meet, but ended up staying all night. The DJ was awesome, playing every song from every film of the 80/90s. The thing that struck me most about the night was the mix of people - it was a really eclectic crowd, from the old Steampunk customers, to guys just in to play pool, to people obviously using this to kick start a night out. This is now a place I'd purposefully go to of an evening. 4 stars as we had a great night, but I want to check it out again.

Sitting at the side in one of the booths, the seats are extremely uncomfortable, the tables are dirty and the dado rails around the walls were covered in dust. Since everywhere else was too busy on this particular Saturday night my friend and I decided that we'd just have to stay here and eat, how bad could it be? Two words: frozen chips. I can't even bring myself to write anything else about this place - except the chef needs a lesson in customer service. Bring back Steampunk please.
