Since there was a discount on the Walgreens website, I decided to purchase 3 to 4 boxes of Lindt Mini Pralines, both to stock up for ourselves and to give as gifts. Normally, I would choose shipping, but due to the recent heat, I didn't want to risk the chocolates melting in transit. So instead, I checked local store availability and saw that the Wheeling location had 3 boxes in stock. I placed an order for in-store pickup, and my husband picked them up today (7/3/25). It should have been a simple and straightforward transaction, but unfortunately, 2 out of the 3 boxes turned out to be expired. One had an expiration date of 6/30/25, and the other 5/31/25. Only one box had a reasonable expiration date of 10/31/25. For comparison, the box I've been enjoying at home, that was purchased two months ago from a different retailer, does not expire until 1/31/26. Walgreens really needs to implement better quality control regarding expiration dates. Selling expired products, especially food items like chocolates, is unacceptable. And since the Wheeling store only had these 3 boxes at the time of my order, I now have to make a trip to another Walgreens to return or exchange the expired ones. read more

I am leaving this very concerning review to share an incident that happened at this Walgreens location less than two weeks ago. My mother, a Mexican-American immigrant who has been a loyal customer of this pharmacy for the past six to seven years, went into the store to pick up her medication. While there, she had questions about certain beauty products and asked for assistance from a Walgreens team member named Mohammed Zalfa. During their interaction, there was clearly a language barrier, as my mother does not speak English fluently. While she was simply looking for a specific lotion, this employee's behavior escalated into something extremely disturbing--he sexually assaulted her by running his fingers down her throat and grabbing her breast. My mother, who is a survivor of domestic abuse, was terrified. With the language barrier, her trauma resurfacing, and panic setting in, her only instinct was to leave the store as quickly as possible. Later that day, we attempted to contact the store to report what had happened, but after being placed on hold, the call was dropped. We then called the police, but unfortunately, our local police did not have jurisdiction over the area where this Walgreens is located. My mother's overwhelming anxiety and trauma led her to not pursue further action at that moment. I am posting this review because people in the community deserve to know. To our knowledge, this employee is still working at this Walgreens. This is deeply concerning, as no one--especially women, women of color, or immigrants who may not know the language--should have to fear being assaulted while shopping. I strongly urge Walgreens management, specifically Edwin Morales, the acting manager, to take immediate action. Customers should feel safe and respected, and I cannot imagine that this company would condone such behavior from one of its employees. Please be cautious when visiting this location. read more

I stopped in for a shingles shot today and it was a very pleasant experience. I was greeted by a young woman, Jada, who was extremely knowledgeable and efficient. She helped me with the paperwork and called on the pharmacist, Duyen, who took me in right away. Didn't even feel the injection and Duyen was absolutely delightful! She explained all I needed to know. I will definitely be back in two months for the next shot. It's nice to know that this kind of customer service still exists. Awful! When I first came to the pharmacy to pick up my type one diabetic medication, the pharmacist literally made me cry because of how rude he was to me about wanting my medication as sterile as possible so I did not want just my insulin pens handed to me. I wanted them to be in the box that they come in. On the box itself for insulin pens it says that the box should be closed. I've gotten hung up on multiple times while calling and waiting for over 10 minutes to speak with a pharmacy staff member just to have my prescriptions, all mixed up and the wrong things ordered. It seems like everyone that works in the pharmacy is incompetent and they make each customer feel like such a burden to them. I have yet to see any of the pharmacist or the pharmacy staff even smile or pretend like they want to be there and same with the staff and general in the whole Walgreens. I ordered photos and the cashier literally just threw them on the counter and just went back to being on her phone. Everyone that works in the store just looks miserable and go out of their way just to make each customer experience awful it's truly sad how bad this places please pick any other store besides this one because you will leave here feeling so upset. I am thankful that my insurance covers other places because going here has giving me such bad anxiety and has made me feel so bad about myself for being a type one diabetic that needs life-saving medication. read more

I certainly understand why this Walgreens is so poorly rated, and deservedly so. I tried to get a Passport Photo there, what a nightmare perpetuated by the alleged manager, Mr. Morales. Zero stars should be an option. For $16.99 I was to receive the passport photo and as per the web site I will receive "U.S. Passport/ID/Visa photos ready in minutes and includes a FREE optional digital copy sent to your email." The website clearly states that FREE digital copy would be sent to my email. The poorly trained staff knew nothing of this. The rude manager would not even look at the website. He does not seem to understand at all how to deal with a customer. I simply chose to to leave , the manager's attitude surely needs attention, or the poor ratings will continue. read more

I understand that pharmacists and their staff are exhaustively busy these days, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, and I empathize. However, this store has to be the worst managed in the area. I spent 25 minutes on hold trying to get a quick question answered about my prescription. Even at a busy time, a staff member can pick up the phone and acknowledge your call rather than let 10-15-20 minutes go by without an acknowledgement. This was my experience today. In the past, I've been shocked to sit for 10 or more minutes in the drive up lane (and not during their meal breaks) staring into the window, seeing no staff and no customers only to find a staff member stumble out of a break room eating or playing with a phone. Completely unacceptable service. The manager of this pharmacy needs to address these egregious issues. It doesn't have to be this way. read more

Then they said I needed an actual paper written one so I drove 1 hour to my dr and 1 hour back. DO NOT USE THIS WALGREENS PHARMACY. This is really awful to try and deal with. They do not answer the phones even when they are not busy. You will sit for along time on the phone.. When you do get thru.. The person on the other end does not have good listening skills.. You'll explain very clearly why your calling.. then they'll ask questions that you already gave them their answers the first time you told them why your calling.. They do not pay attention to when you speak. Another thing they take a very very very long time to fill out your meds. Never expect to get your meds in a few days.. Very rude staff! There was an advertisement for buy 2 get 1 free mix and match deal and then when I tried to mix and match, of course it didn't work and the management made a huge fuss about it. When the associate called the manager over to help, she looked at us, glared, shook her head and went over to the aisle to "go check" but she didn't say anything. So we just stood their awkwardly until she took her time and came back. Then she and I had an argument between abreva types. She said it only applied to the "dental" version. Wtf? PHARMACIST - JOSÉ IS AMAZING !!! He was so kind and patient with me especially considering the pharmacy was closing in thirty minutes. He went out of his way to make me feel like the issue I was having with my insurance, doctor and medication was of importance to him not just I. He listened and validated my concerns. When you are not well and need these drugs to maintain your daily lifestyle it's nice to know your local pharmacist is there to help! I have dealt with another pharmacist at this location and he is short, rude, speaks over you and has given me incorrect information before. Walgreens drugstore in wheeling, has a great selection of whatever you need, but if you can't find something good luck getting help. I have been using them for my prescriptions for 4 years and i dont recommend them for no hassle refills, especially if you need a doctors authorization to refill the rx. Everytime they have to call any of my doctors, it takes days to gt it filled and many times i have to call the doctor myself and their office says they never got any request. from the pharmacy. Worst Service EVER received at a Walgreens location in 2 DAYS IN A ROW!! Day 1 - Monday 19th. Checked online for Zyrtec 5 pk, clearly stated it was in stock at this location which is convenient since I almost live right behind it. Walked in there and checked all around the Allergies section for almost 20 mins. NO ONE EVER CAME TO ASK WHAT THE HECK I NEEDED!!! When I finally asked the only answer I received was " if it is not there we don't have it"! that's it!!!????? come on! Day 2 - Tuesday 20th. Walked in after checking online and again it clearly stated "in stock" at 10 N MILWAUKEE unless that is not your address you losers! Looking for a different kind of product for 10-15 mins and no one came to ask again. At this point I kind of got the hint that customer service does not exist here, oh well! Suddenly i see a Pharmacist walking by which it was perfect and I asked if they had the product and simply said "No, I don't think so" I replied with I checked online and says you have it and she simply said "not everything that is online we carry in the store" and walked away. WOW!!! I almost feel like walking down to corporate office on Lake Cook and let them know about this! what a place filled with Losers! Customer Service is absent here, trust me people and the stock indication online is pure garbage! I will not be visiting this Walgreens location at all! Hate it! disgusting. Try to avoid going to the pharmacy at this location. They either do not answer your call or tell you to hold and hangs up. I called 3 times and on the 4th call somebody finally answered it. They just let the phone ring or hangs up on you and their reading was because they are busy. I tried Walgreen on Dundee/schoenbeck and they answered the call right away. While the store is clean, well-stocked, and newly renovated, the service leaves a lot to be desired, especially at the pharmacy. There's always a line when I'm there, and always an empty register position, so they are either understaffed, or just don't care enough to keep the line moving along. The cash register lines up front move smoothly. Even if I use the drive thru, there is a wait sometimes...5-8 minutes. If you order your prescription ahead of time and they send you an email that the prescription is ready, it really shouldn't take more than two minutes to grab the prepared prescription off the shelf and complete the transaction. I switched Walgreen's locations, to the one at Willow and Pfingsten in Northbrook, and am much happier there. read more

The front end operation is standard Walgreens, somewhat better staffed, cleaner and brighter than the ones in cities (which annoys me a bit). In the last year this pharmacy has rapidly declined. Service has completely tanked. Always short staffed. And now they close for lunch. The pharmacy! - closes for lunch. I could not even believe it when I saw the sign saying they were closing for a pharmacist lunch hour. Because evidently there are not enough pharmacists in the world to help poor walgreens out. The last four times I went through the drive through pharmacy - I waited on average for 8 minutes before there was acknowledgement from the staff. Sometimes I rang the help bell two or three times before I would get an answer. I just wanted to know that they knew I was waiting in line outside. The last time I went to this walgreens I waited 14 minutes before I received acknowledgement. I watched as they pulled the gate closed in front of the pharmacy - getting ready to close for their lunch. They pulled the gate 15 minutes before the time they said they closed. I was the last car the helped. The two cars that had been waiting in line with me for quite a while were told that they would have to come back after the lunch period. Can you imagine this. A corporation the size of Walgreens closes their pharmacy for lunch. So I'm switching to another pharmacy. Hopefully not a walgreens but they have the corner on the market. Oh - the last best bit - I asked the tech if they were short handed and why didn't they answer the bell to acknowledge someone was waiting - he told me "it's not a fast food drive through - sometimes you have to wait for a service like this - it's a courtesy and luxury to drive through" I didn't mention to him that I was handicapped and that it was a luxury but a necessity. I have very important seizure meds I have to take twice a day, so 8 pills in total. I've been at this Walgreens for years and my service was average, these days with my new seizure meds I've ran into nothing but problems. They never have my meds in, and I have my meds on auto refill, but they absolutely never have them in stock. After going through the same thing every single month I'm just on my last leg, it's as if they openly ignore my calls and hang up before I can even talk to someone. You'd assume after all of the constant arguments they'd think "hey maybe we should keep this one in stock" but nope. Now they avoid my number along with avoiding my moms, it's gotten to the point where I have to ration my important medications. And this happens every, single, month. I'm not one for leaving reviews but this one is well deserved in my opinion, so if you have very important meds you should definitely not go here. This pharmacy has some major problems! I had a prescription called in and they kept telling me they never got it. They told me I had to call my doctor and inquire about it, so I did. My doctor assured me they sent it and I call back, again same BS. They said they would text me once it was there and they never did. The technician on the phone also couldn't remember my phone number as I dictated it to him and kept switching around all the numbers as he repeated them back to me. This is basic communication! How hard is it to write a phone number correctly down? The technicians keep talking to me like they couldn't give a sh*t about me getting my prescription so guess what, I'm removing all my prescriptions from them and taking my business elsewhere. read more
