As a local patron that uses the pharmacy, they have gone down down down down down and WAY DOWN hill. It'll take a week or more to refill a prescription. The meds are delivered to the store & I'll get a text it's ready... only to get there and I'm told to swing around the ENDLESS drive thru lane because the medicine hasn't been unpacked. Every pharmacy tech and person behind the counter are annoyed & pass that on to customers. It's unacceptable for me to skip certain medications & after 29 years filling my script here.... This Pharmacy is horrible! It's not staffed properly so they have to close to go on break several times a day, they don't answer the phone so you get transferred to a call center and they give you false information like "your prescription is ready for pick up." The wait takes forever! read more

Do NOT go here to get your prescription filled!!! They not only mess up the prescription which could be extremely costly and dangerous, but also lose your prescription!! After going over my prescription with the pharmacist for over 25 minutes, they say it will be ready in an hour yet I don't hear for over 6 hours and I had attempted several times to call but no one answers their phones and I was on hold for over 45 minutes. Not only did they lose the prescription and act like I wasn't there earlier and it's my fault for losing it, they said I wasn't not in the system yet I was already in the system. They eventually "found" me in the system and I had to wait yet again for a while just to get one prescription! This pharmacy is extremely disorganized and in need of either additional support or new people that know what they are doing so they don't hurt anyone giving the wrong medication or losing their scripts. read more

You think with ALL the complaints corporate or whoever is in charge of this store should really try to resolve this issue. It shouldn't be a headache and hassle to get every prescription here. Every time I get one filled or try to, it's an ordeal, a headache and it's stressful. It really shouldn't be. I understand everyone is short staffed and etc, etc, but get it together a little bit. Please change the pharmacy stuff!!! I've been waiting for my kids medication to be ready since Monday! The order didn't come through till Tuesday though. The drive-thru wait at this location is beyond ridiculous. There hasn't been a single visit where I haven't witnessed other cars leaving the line without being serviced tired if waiting. If you think leaving the line, & going inside is going to yield better results...THINK AGAIN. When it's finally your turn you're often greeted by someone who clearly would rather be somewhere else. This Walgreens is completely atrocious. You can expect to wait close to half an hour in line at the drive thru AND get rude service. It often seems like they have no people who actually know what they are doing working there. They think it's acceptable to delay a medication by 24 HOURS for someone who urgently needs medication to prevent possible serious illness stating they can't do anything because there is no one in the pharmacy filling prescriptions during working hours and not during a pharmacist break. They don't transfer prescriptions and can't be bothered to help beyond that so then you have to sit and call pharmacy after pharmacy trying to get a prescription filled. I've been overly patient with this location. Save yourself the headache and the stress- go somewhere else. read more

I was a true fan of Walgreens, many moons ago. They're a business that has struggled in the current economy and E-commerce world but this experience has really struck a chord with me. I came to this location because I had a double ear infection and needed antibiotics quickly and it was very late. I left the Urgent Care and came here to get my prescription filled. My prescription was sent over by the urgent care, and I called and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I came to the drive-thru and no one answered. I parked, walked in and was told that they didn't see the prescription yet. As I waited in the chairs that are about 10-15 feet away from the counters, and another 10-15 feet from where the pharmacist is doing her work, I hear the pharmacy tech and pharmacist practically yell to one another about a patient and what medication they were prescribed and laugh about the condition. HIPAA violation anyone? I clear my throat to remind them that I'm sitting there and can hear their entire conversation. No attention is paid to this. 35 minutes later, my prescription is ready. By this time I have heard 4 private conversations, have the names, medications, and conditions of 3 patients, and frankly am so disturbed by what is happening there. I call a pharmacist friend and ask if this is the norm or if this is a break in protocol and HIPAA. She confirms what I already suspected. I call the pharmacy back, speak with the pharmacist and explain that I was just in, the area was fairly empty but I was there and heard them talking about patients and mocking their illnesses. The pharmacist says, "Ok, so?" I explain that this is inappropriate (Why am I explaining to her HIPAA?!?) and that they need to be considerate of their environment. I'm not sure if anything changed, but if you have a choice, this is not the pharmacy to go to. read more

I usually go to the Walgreens in Palatine because they are an equal distance from my house and tthe Buffalo Grove Walgreen's always seemed to be more crowded with a longer wait time. I went to the Buffalo Grove Walgreen's because they had a take care clinic and I needed a note from work to verify that I had a virus and not Strep and was therefore not contagious anymore. The wait was about an hour and I did not really like that they adverise the names of customers and patients. This has to somehow violate HIPPA. I told the nurse of my symptoms and how I also felt like I had something else going on. She kind of disregarded it and told me that I had to pick one thing for them to test for. Since I needed the strep test for work, I chose that. (I later found out I did indeed have the other issue I thought was going on). So two doctor visits later I finally got the antibiotic that I needed. read more

This pharmacy department is a complete mess of an operation. I'm now sitting here for an hour, waiting for a pharmacist to "review" the prescription that was called in 7 hours previous to this time. There are currently two people complaining of the same awful service, while the line grows down the aisles. There are never enough people to help, they constantly get prescriptions and prices wrong, and nobody who works here seems to care. Get it together! I always have and always will trust this Walgreens and its staff. From photo to pharmacy, the staff is beyond competent. I realize that a lot of people have mentioned "long lines" at the pharmacy. As a medical professional, this is necessary because there is an array of double and triple checks to ensure that the medicine is correct and has no interactions with other medications etc. Long story short, the pharmacy is not a fast food line..... Lastly, what prompted me to even write this review was a young woman named Veronica. I cannot say enough good things about her. She was so helpful which I was trying to create some special photo gifts. She was personable, competent, professional, and so very patient. Such a great attitude, it was so refreshing. Every single Walgreens is the same. I haven't been to this one in months because another one is closer to where I live and I don't shop much. Yet, I stopped here on my way home from work today to get some passport photos and when I walked in, I was shocked at the transformation. This is the first Walgreens I've seen with a new, different layout and I have to say, I like it!! It's well-lit, spacious, open, clean, and seems to have more merchandise. The pharmacy area is much larger, and the photo section has computers where you can sit down and print out your photos. I also noticed some fresh fruit and a larger wine & beer selection. My family and I have been going to this Walgreens in Buffalo Grove for nearly 30 years or more. We are frustrated, angry, and disappointed. We pulled up to the drive-thru window today, and the kid at the window screamed out LAST NAME, then he proceeded to tell us our prescription was not ready. Well, we were there three times yesterday, and now once today. The prescription was called in by the doctor at 12:45 yesterday. This was pain medication for my son's eyes, he's having surgery tomorrow, and guess what. They told us that they are running 5 days behind, and our prescription was net ready. My husband said we needed to speak to a pharmacist immediately. The pharmacist came to the window and could not speak English. We asked him three times to repeat what he said. Finally, we realized he was asking if we had a question for him. Yes we said why isn't the prescription ready when my son got a message saying it was. His answer was maybe by tonight even though he needs it for surgery, or it might not be ready for a few days. This is unacceptable of a pharmacy. What happens if someone needs antibiotics or pain meds like we did, they're not going to get them. If Walgreens needs that much help and they're that much behind, have the corporation hire somebody or two or three. Everybody in that store is wonderful, except for the pharmacy. They are rude, inept, and downright stupid. read more

After a horrific second experience at walgreens (15 n Lake Cook RD Buffalo Grove ) with a pharmacist whom I think she is a manager has to stop. After reading reading some of the reviews here, I see I am not alone. The difference is I have video footage. I am at odds with certain requirements they first say need to be signed by law then say it is an insurance requirement, well Insurance companies don't write statutes. So which is it? When I was exercising my right to video from my vehicle outside of the store at the window and properly notified the pharmacist she was being videod, she screamed, said she was calling the police (mind all) for a legal activity) then stormed away for 10 minutes leaving me without my credit card, medication even though I rang the bell numerous times and offered after 20 seconds to the pharmacy tech to sign the form and wait for the police for my special needs son was getting upset. This is paramount to CVS calling the police on that nice elderly African American Woman claiming she was using a fake coupon and that was not the case. Obviously the police took NO action against me for videoing the transaction. So since when is it legal for a store to hold your credit card and goods and after it was paid for and you agree to sign what they ask while upsetting a customer of over 20 years and a special needs individual? How shameful. If a proper resolution is not reached by Monday and this Pharmacist just like the CVS employees is not fired for her actions, the video will go viral on youtube and to the press and any and all other social media and I may file a civil suit. Enough is enough folks, we need to video all transactions for our proof so no more he said she said, video all the time. Since a large portion of cars use recording devices to prove for insurance whos at fault for accidents, is walgreens drive through not going to service half the driving population? They need to train, write a memo to all staff working the pharmacy windows and never let this happen again. For now the only reason I am not going viral with the video that is plain as day as I state things, is that I emailed the senior VP of Pharmacy and on a Saturday night he actually returned my email, saw the video, seemingly unpleased and promised to have it researched first thing monday morning. Also after calling their complaint line, I received a call from the regional manager apologizing and researching the matter. So maybe in my opinion the Narcissistic Pharmacist is rouge and management has shown to be professional and I am so far impressed with their quick first level of actions, so I will report back and if they do remedy to my satisfaction them I will give them and walgreens the credit they are do, if not, I go for what I feel right. Since we now have the focus and attention of the leaders of Walgreens, folks please express any and all negative experiences as to help them better the service we and others will receive when at the Walgreens pharmacy and turn this horrific experience into a positive one. read more

Very poor management staff. The manager named Juan or Jose (I cannot recall) has terrible customer service skills. He was very rude. My very elderly neighbor wanted to purchase vodka but did not have an ID on him. My elderly neighbor has an English language barrier and could not understand what the problem was. I offered to buy the vodka for my neighbor. I am over 21, have a valid ID, and I was using my card. The manager refused. So, we left and I came back alone. The Manager proceeded to whisper to the cashier assisting me not to honor my purchase. At that point I said he was being ridiculous. 1. I came in alone. 2. I was purchasing the alcohol with MY ID and MY credit card. 3. Even if the alcohol was for my neighbor he was quite clearly of age. He's an 85-year old elderly gentleman! It's not like I was with a teenager wanting to make the purchase! I mentioned I am a religious customer but after today I will not be visiting them again. The manager said he did not care that I am a frequent customer. I mentioned I would be calling corporate on him and he said to go ahead because he was doing the right thing and would get accolades for doing the right thing. I am disgusted with this managers behavior and attitude. I am passing word on to local friends and family not to visit that Walgreens location. I was just trying to help my elderly neighbor, who was alone for the holiday because his wife is in the nursing home, have a good Christmas! This is for the pharmacy and the two pharmacists that were there tonight at 9:40 pm. I walked in and handed my prescriptions for my surgery this week. "They have my insurance information on file" and I quote the lead pharmacist tonight " it's not in network."and the other woman says " are you going to pay cash?" I don't know what kind of business these women are running but I have had these prescriptions filled at this same location last year for the same exact product. They tried to make me "pay cash" when I work for a great company and have amazing insurance. Will find out their names and make a formal complaint. They also made me wait 20 minutes before they came up with their excuse. I can't believe what unprofessional and unpleasant pharmacy employees work at this location. On my prescriptions my doctors name and cosmetic surgeon practice was written which leads me to believe why were trying to get away with overcharging me or to "pay cash" These women need to stop discriminating.
