I consider Walgreens to be the worst retail chain in America. A year ago, I made a promise to myself never to enter this store again, and I kept that promise until today--only to be "punished" for breaking it. I went there to purchase beauty products that were advertised as being on sale, plus an additional 10$ reward. However, I received nothing but complete disappointment due to the unprofessionalism of the store manager and cashiers. On top of that, I wasted a significant amount of time. This happened at the Walgreens in Buffalo Grove (15 N. Buffalo Grove Rd, Buffalo Grove). I am writing this review to warn others to avoid all Walgreens stores altogether, and this location in particular. Hopefully, company management will read this and consider how to improve the situation in what was once a very popular retail chain. read more

We came to the Walgreens after lunch to get my mother in law's medication from the pharmacy. We were able to get in and out fast. Just what I look for. The employees were friendly. I highly recommend this Walgreens location! read more

9/6/2024 45 minutes late for our vaccine appointments. 7 other people waiting too. Can you say understaffed? Why schedule appointments every 10 minutes, when you don't have the staff to cover the appointments? We finally received our vaccinations, 1 hour and 10 minutes after our scheduled appointment time. I don't know what it is about this location, they're chronically under staffed in the pharmacy, the drive thru takes at least 15 minutes no matter when you show up. It's really unfortunate.... Such a good location but either ineptitude or lack of efficiency is plaguing them and has been for the last six months to a year. Go to Lincolnshire or further down on BG Rd to save yourself at least a few hours annually. read more

Didn't have important eye meds for my grandfather at time of expected pick up. They told me they had to order it for the next day at noon. I asked them to check other local stores, they said nothing locally available. I called at 2pm the next day, they still didn't have it. Said it wasn't ordered the previous day and needed it for the next day. I asked again to check other local stores and 15 N. Buffalo Grove Rd. had it IN STOCK. The customer service in this drug store is definitely great. The staff were really friendly when I bought something from the pharmacy. He is so nice and, at the same time, knowledgeable. I do not know much about the prescription as I was just told to buy it and I was glad that the staff were nice and knowledgeable, who also explained everything about it to me. The store was also very clean and organized when I went in there. I do not go here mostly, but I think I would go more because, aside from the pharmacy, they also have a nice selection of products like milk and other daily essentials, which also have a variety of options. The prices are also the same as the prices in the grocery store. Prices are really fair and reasonable. The store is also not crowded, and I really think that it would be the best store to buy a few things that are available inside. It is definitely convenient. I went here only for the prescription, but I left the store with a lot of other stuff, and it was really nice. Checkout is also very quick since there are only a few people inside. Overall, this is really a nice drug store. They have a great selection of products. The store is clean and organized, and they also have a spacious parking lot. read more

After a rather large debacle with another Walgreens in the area, I trekked (okay, it's not that far, an extra 10 minutes) to this Walgreens to pick up my (last minute) holiday cards, which I'd uploaded online using the Walgreens website and their custom card maker. The process (the second time around) was painless, and the staff at this store was much friendlier than the first. They apologized for my inconvenience, and the two stores coordinated to ensure that I was not charged for my order (80 holiday cards for free? Score!) This Walgreens has the new setup with the "fancy" interior and "open" floor plan. It was clean and spacious, even though it was crowded. I do still find it difficult to find things in these new Walgreens, because nothing is where it used to be, but I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually. read more

We've gotten our prescriptions from this Walgreens for years - NO MORE! It's not safe, they have become irresponsible, they've refilled prescriptions that we haven't asked to be refilled time and time again! Last week they refilled 2 prescriptions that my husband hasn't taken for months, one that I specifically called and told them not to refill when he was taken off of it in August!! I've tried to talk to the manger, pharmacy personnel, store manger, all I get are excuses. DO NOT TRUST YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS TO THEM!! If I hadn't checked my husband's prescriptions in the last year he could have easily taken several medications that his doctors took him off of because they filled them in error!!! I'm trying not to think of what the repercussions of this could have been, but we all know!! Mix ups have happened with them several times in the last year , this was the final straw! A quick note on the Pharmacy. I was given a cash quote for a medication that exceeded $1,000.00- I asked to have the price verified and was told that if I didn't like the price, I could take my prescription elsewhere.?? I made a few calls to other Pharmacies and found that Costco could fill the exact same prescription for $57..39!!--That's correct, $57.39. I called back the Walgreens and spoke with the Pharmacist in charge.--Again, Walgreens wanted over $1,000.00 for the same medication, strength and dosage. I cant believe there is such a discrepancy and that there are no laws against price gouging. I'll never visit ANY Walgreens again. read more

The pharmacy department is awful. First of all, walk up to the counter and it's filthy! In a pharmacy. And then the techs are terrible. I waited for three prescriptions to be filled, one for a pain killer after I had oral surgery. When they called me up the tech gave me two. I asked where the third was and THEN he told me that the insurance would not cover what the dentist had prescribed. So I called the dentist who said he would call them right away. Thirty minutes later I went up to the counter to ask where the prescription was and was told that they had not heard from the dentist. I've known my dentist for 35 years - he called. So I left and I'll use Advil! This is just one in a long line of issues at this place. I even complained once on Walgreens web site and never heard from them. Costco here I come. read more

Their flyers, e-mails and newspaper ads all advertised Senior Day for Dec. 1st and seniors were to receive a 20% discount on all items that weren't on sale. When I went to check out I was told I could only get a 15% discount because their registers weren't programmed for 20%. This is a discount that is given the first Tuesday of every month so it was nothing new. I stood my ground & found a cashier who gave me the 20% discount by using a calculator and then ringing up the charge. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this store in the future. read more

It's the new "wellness style" store with produce, Salad, & premade sandwiches. The style of the pharmacy area looks more like a doctor's office. And there is a wall with giant touch-screens if you don't want to interact with a human being. It reminds me a little bit of the continence stores in Japan. read more

I been to several Walgreens and hands down this is the best one. Very easy to get in and out without being as crowded as the others. The people who work there are very helpful and the current manager Marquita is so so helpful!!!! She spent above and beyond helping me get pictures for a collage for my Dad's 80th Birthday party. This Walgreens deserves 0 stars. Like the previous reviewer, they've botched 2 prescriptions in a row for me. Today, my daughter's doctor called in a prescription. I called the store an hour later to see if it was ready. They said it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. My husband went to pick it up 20 minutes later and the clerk told him that they didn't even have it in stock. He said yeah, I talked to your wife a little bit ago. I was going to call and let you know, but... He never bothered to call. So, my husband, having already wasted 1/2 hour, had to go out of the way another 1/2 hour to a different store to get the scrip. The first time I had a bad experience, they told me they don't carry my prescription anymore and that it cannot be ordered. I told them I would call the other Walgreens that ordered it for me last time. l called the other store and they said they could order it for me. This Walgreens called me later that day and I told them the other store is taking care of it. They said, "Oh, I'll call them and ask how they ordered it and can fill it for you here if you want." I said okay, since this store is considerably closer to me. Well, I get a call from the automated system an hour later saying my scrip is ready. This seemed impossible since the product needed to be ordered. I called and they confirmed it was ready. Figuring maybe they found some in stock that they overlooked, I went to the store. They gave me the scrip and lo and behold, it was for a different medication. They said it was for another generic of the same supplement, but this is NOT what my doctor had written my prescription for, so where do they get off dispensing something not prescribed? And they didn't even inform me that they were giving something different. I said they could keep it. It is amazing the lengths these people went to for this sale. Taking a prescription from another store and then dispensing something other than what was prescribed just to add to their revenue. Unbelievable. I don't think all Walgreens are like this, but the gross incompetence of the morons at this particular Walgreens pharmacy are enough to taint the Walgreens name and cause us to move everything over to CVS after YEARS of using Walgreens. Wake up Walgreens and fire your pharmacy staff. read more

Terrible slow service. I bought a candy bar that had a sales rage for 69 cents in the shelf. It rang up 129 so i questioned it. She called for a price check and after waiting 5 minutes for nobody to check it out she went and looked. She came back and said someone put the wrong sales tag there. The pharmacist lady was super rude!!! Unacceptable!!! I leave the country every year for a few months and was always able to get my refills filled for 90 days without calling the doctor, they have me on file that I do this every year. It's Sunday, I'm leaving on Tuesday... This lady literally said "have your doctor call me and ok it, or would you rather me tell you we don't have your meds in stock and send you on your way" wtf? I love the Walgreens Optical in this Location!! The lady's here are SUPER INCREDIBLY, UNBELIEVABLY, kind and honest and generous!! I have been using glasses my entire life and you can imagine how many office visits I have had. Not to mention the hundreds of dollars I have to spend every year for exams and glasses! It's amazing how much money I saved here! The doctor here is so knowledgeable and doesn't make the visit awkward like most eye doctors do. Walgreens are pretty much the same, until you have a service problem. I bought a bottle of wine listed at 4.99, and was charged 7.99 at the checkout. The manager walked back with me to to the area, and admitted that the posted price was an error--but refused to honor that posted price for me. If Walgreens management is seeing this, the only way I can help identify this 'manager' for you is to mention that she was African American. I don't mean anything more than that, only to help identify this person. And, if that is your policy, to dishonor posted prices, you should do better to post the correct ones.... read more

This Walgreen's pharmacy department needs help. No calls when the medicine is delayed even though they have all my contact info. I stopped to pick up my prescription and my medicine was not there for the second day in a row. The substitute pharmacist was clueless as to what to do. I suggested he call another Walgreen's to see if they could fill the order. I suggested he transfer my prescription to another pharmacy in the neighborhood - but - again he couldn't or didn't know how to work within their system. I finally called the pharmacy I normally use and they took over, called Walgreen's and had the prescription transferred to them. I will not be going back. read more

This is the Walgreen's at Buffalo Grove and Aptikisic Roads and the people in the pharmacy during the past 15 months to two years are the worst. Either they're all inept or they just don't care. In the last fifteen months, eight of my prescriptions were botched. Three times I've gone there to pick up my prescription only to be told they didn't have the medication but would get it in a few days. Nobody ever called to tell me this. Twice they gave me the generic when I told them I didn't want the generic when I dropped off the script. Three times they gave me only part of the prescription. And once they asked when I wanted to pick up my prescription and when I said 5:00, they said, "okay", never telling me the pharmacy closed at 5:00. Today was the last straw. I picked up my prescription and the young woman said, "I put them in two different bottles because they're from different manufacturer's. Is that okay?" I told her that was fine and came home. A few hours later I went to take my medication and see they gave me only 15 of the 40 pills I was supposed to get. This was on an antibiotic, mind you. That's it, I'm done. I've registered complaints with them four times and they haven't gotten any better. Since they consistently make these kinds of mistakes, I'm afraid they'll completely botch things up one day and it may be fatal. Walgreen's has now lost my business, I'll go to Osco or CVS. For everything. I can't support a business with people who care so little about what they're doing - particularly in this economy. read more
