I just spent 25 minutes waiting in line at the pharmacy to get Sudafed! They had one person serving customers. I talked to a pleasant management person on the way out who informed me that "corporate" has cut their manning hours! Guess what? I'll do the same and cut the hours I spend at Walgreens completely. There is no reason to wait 25 minutes on a typical Saturday morning when I have numerous alternatives. I have used this Walgreen's for many years mostly out of convenience, but not anymore. I'll go a little out of my way to other places, and save time in the long run anyway. In the long run, Walgreens will get its wish and the customer flow will match up to the low staffing levels. Sears developed an arrogance for their customers and it seems Walgreens is headed in that direction. Good luck to them. read more

This Walgreens used to be 24 hours. Now they close at 12. The manager saw me pull up and literally locked the door when I came up to it. "Sorry we're closed" despite other customers being in the store. I needed 1 item. This is why I will never take any of my prescriptions to this store nor will I be returning. I went to Walgreen's to pick up a prescription and noticed they had an new optical center (I giggled). But then I realized I needed to get my glasses adjusted. I was greeted by the nicest, most knowledgeable woman named Julie. She was super sweet about adjusting my glasses and showed me that they had a very similar pair. I always go to a private practice. The glasses at Walgreens were almost a third of the price of what I paid (they seemed like very sturdy glasses). I was highly impressed with their optical center and will definitely go there next time I need glasses. I get that one might be skeptical going to Walgreens for glasses. But I suggest you go in and talk to Julie. You might be pleasantly surprised!!! read more

This is the worst Walgreens I have ever dealt with. Well, the pharmacy specifically. When the pharmacy hours changed from being 24/7, I received no notification whatsoever. I work odd hours and chose this location specifically for the 24 hour availability to pick up prescriptions. Multiple times I have requested for it to be placed into my file that I do not want the generic version of my medication. Repeatedly I have picked up my pills and it is the wrong type and each time they say they are putting it in my file. What a joke. My pills are set to auto-refill, and they still cannot get it correct even when I have a week to pick up my pills before needing them. I got home, just to open the packaging and find it was the wrong type AGAIN. Called and arranged for the correct type to be there waiting the next day. Went in around 8pm and they STILL didn't have the pills in stock. After 45 mins of searching the store, and calling around to other stores, had to drive further away to get the pills from a different Walgreens. Will happily take my business to CVS or anywhere else. This place is a mess. Their pharmacists can't read simple notes at the top of a file. In this case, it is due to personal preference. I'd be wary if you are allergic to one brand of medication because their "traveling" pharmacists don't check files and fill prescriptions in the easiest manner possible. I can't imagine what would happen for customers who request not to have certain brands and get them anyway, and take them because they don't notice. Also, my husband went to pick up his inhaler but he was late on it because we were out of town for the holidays. They had restocked it. He asked if they could refill it for him while he waited and they refused simply because they were too "busy" or close to closing time. I used to go here more often as I had prescriptions filled here, but since I've had changes to my insurance plan, I now must use CVS. They've modified this store and it's very nice - but in my opinion, the old layout was a little easier to navigate through. One of the long time success factors with Walgreen stores was its relative commonality with product location and placement. They seem to be getting away from that which is unfortunate. I do feel that the checkout process is much improved over the previous layout - one line into one or more registers rather than two terminals - "pick one and keep your fingers crossed" with an occasional boost from cosmetics when it was busy. Can't really comment on the prescription desk since I no longer use it, but in the past their staff was usually helpful and knowledgeable. read more

I came to this Walgreens because I needed to make use of their Healthcare clinic. I needed a Tb test for an upcoming job and this was the only place in the area that accepted appointments for their Healthcare clinic (there were a few farther away but I'm from Arlington Heights). I quickly walked into the store and looked up. Their Healthcare clinic sign on the back wall is completely visible from the entrance which is excellent! I quickly signed in and was seen by an employee to fill out paperwork. Moments after I stepped out of her office, I was called in the doctor's office and was administered the test. The doctor was quite friendly and we talked about current events while she completed paperwork and told me when to come in for my followup appointment. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the experience. This was my first time using a drugstore clinic and it was phenomenal. I would/will definitely come back if I need another vaccine or other test because they're fast and to the point. read more

I called the store mgr yesterday to see if her 2 different members of management ever told her about my situation and how disturbing it was that one of their overnight employees didnt say a word, as I laid on the concrete in front if their store. Walgreens is Walgreens. This location is 24 hours, which is convenient for those who work odd hours and such. I really only ever picked up prescriptions here. Every time I needed something other than a pharmacy pick up the woman up front at the registers pestered everyone in line about buying the candy on special. I get it, you probably get coached about asking and need to sell a certain number of these items. But when I tell you no thanks, don't tell me to crumble it up on my cereal for breakfast in the morning. Ew. On a lighter note, I hear this location has recently been remodeled and has a take care clinic. There is a NW Community 24 hour clinic right across the street, but another walk-in can't really hurt anything. read more

I understand that the healthcare clinic can have appointments take longer than usual, but appointments were taking over an hour each. Leaving those that were 6th in line taking about 6 hours to be seen. Some patients on the board were listed as "Currently Being Seen" who were sitting in the waiting room and were not clearly being seen. Asked manager, he gave some broad uncaring excuse. My review is solely for the pharmacy. If you encounter a technician named Nick, immediately ask for someone else and save yourself from his laziness and disparaging attitude. Upon requesting he call my doctor to update the directive for a prescription they had on file, Nick started giving me attitude. When I mentioned this to him, he densely inferred that I was sympathizing with him that he would have to call the doctor, making a general reference that all doctor offices are lazy. Ok...sure Nick, as long as you would have followed through and done your job, I would have let that fly and chalked it up to you being unhappy with your place of employment. Instead of calling the doc like he assured me he would, he opted to just fill the prescription as is, with no note on my file that our conversation ever happened. It makes me very uncomfortable to think someone with as little attention to detail (and just overall angry at the world) has anything to do with the dispensing of my medications. read more

Really bad customer service in the clinic. Signage clearly states that on time people with appts will be taken before walk ins. The usual NP on staff pays no attention to that rule. Plus, she's usually grumpy and disorganized. Ran the insurance claim for my son under the wrong name and I got a bill in the mail for it. read more

I have never had more horrible experiences than I have with this particular Pharmacy. The wait in the drive up window or inside is always excruciating long. I understand it is the holidays but today was particularly bad being a total of 40 minutes waiting to pick up one prescription. I understand that sometimes it is the customers that are super needy and have lots of questions as well as need to make changes or arguing because of insurance not covering things Etc but that is when the pharmacist or customer service agent needs to let them know that they can follow up with them or help them once they're done assisting other guests pick up their prescription. read more

I just attempted to pick up a prescription that was called in on the 17th. Today is the 20th and they still don't have it in! I needed this immediately after having a foreign object removed from my eye on the 17th and have been here now 4 times in an attempt to pick it up. Every time the story changes and the overwhelming incompetence shines through. Every time they tell me that they will find it at another location and never do. It is not that hard to get some antibiotic eye drops considering that the DR. at the immediate care facility gave me a sample of them after referring me to an optometrist. read more

very disappointed in the pharmacy dept. My daughter's pediatrician electronically sent over a prescription. When I arrived at the drive thru window 20 mins after the prescription was the sent, the tech told me it takes an hour for electronic prescriptions to cross over. What? Isn't doing it online suppose to make it faster? Wouldn't it have been easier to bring in a hard copy prescription. I would give a worst rating if possible, I called over to the pharmacy spoke with an employee named Lexi. I asked if she could call my doctor to refill my prescription and she gave me a huge attitude. Almost like I was asking her to do some she wasn't suppose to. I told her I forgot to refill my prescription and that I was going out of town her exact words were you should not have wait till last minute and then expect us to jump on it that quick. I was floored and asked to speak to a manager which I was then put on hold for 10 min so I just hung up. Worst. Pharmacy. EVER! If I could rate -1 million stars, I would. I will no longer use this company mainly due to this location, but all other locations have operated similarly. They have NO idea what they are doing and blame their computer system while saying it's flawless and it's everyone elses fault. They ran a $8,000 medication to my insurance 30+ times in a matter of a few hrs, claimed they didn't, even though I had the print out from my ins in front of me. They can't run my flex spend card, call my company, the card is full and they have no failed transactions that ran meaning the card was never run. I call in a medication for one location, and get automated calls from 4 other locations I have never visited that are very far from me saying my meds are ready for pick up. They are beyond flawed, and it's my health and well being that suffer from their lack of organization, knowledge, and professionalism. I have never been so appalled by any company EVER! This review is for the Advocate Health Care Clinic. I do like this Walgreens but I am FURIOUS at the Health Care Center. I made an appointment before I was going to head out of town for the holidays and so I delayed my departure for a few hours so I could catch this appointment. I received an email confirmation and everything. I showed up a few minutes early and everything was dark in the clinic. I called the number on my confirmation and it took me 15 minutes to talk to a person. When I finally did talk to that person, i was informed that the clinic was closed early. I understand closing for the holidays, but I had an appointment... I mentioned this to the person on the phone who replied, "yeah, I guess someone should have called you". I was hoping to lodge a complaint through the proper channels, but I couldn't find any way to contact them outside the phone number and I'm just not interested wasting 20 minutes on the phone for a complaint that will likely go nowhere. Keep your expectations low, folks. read more

Conveniently located and open 24/7 but I am going to avoid it. The service is so and so but I might live with it. I was making occasional purchases over there without paying much attention to their pricing. Then decided to switch to them for my ongoing prescriptions, mainly because of location. Big mistake! They charged me for my first refill over 3 times as much ($21.52 vs $6.12 for the same generic drug) as I would pay in my old place. And then they claim that is because of my insurance. I did checked with my insurance and verified the insurance always covers 60%. So the difference is due to Walgreens astronomical pricing for medications. read more

Love this place. We are there I swear like two to three times a week. The pharmacy is great when you're in the store. When I stop to pick up and no one is there waiting the words they use when you ring the bell make you feel like you're bothering them. If that would change ohhh I'd always be smiling. The service at the health clinic was extremely slow. My daughter needed a sports physical. We came in on a Saturday morning, waited 1.5 hours. We were then told either to go their Highland Park clinic or came back in the afternoon with an appointment. We did, then waited for another 30 minutes. The practitioner on average saw 2 patients, which is way blow the standard of 4 patients pet hour. One child was crying, thus was turned away. I told the staff that we are not coming back to the clinic in the future. read more

Will never use this Walgreens, or any again! Recently came here immediately after a surgery to fill a prescription for an anti-inflamatory medication. After waiting for 30-40 minutes, in the middle of the day,my husband picked up my prescription, paid at window and we left. I get home only to realize that what's in the bag is a prescription for another patient! My name is on the outer label of bag, but not my pills inside! Not to mention the pills inside are for an antibiotic medication I'm allergic to! It's a busy time of year, yes, but no excuse for almost killing someone. With several people staffing that pharmacy, it got by all of them! Shame on Walgreens! I've been loyal to this company for too long, especially after working for them for several years in the past. My ties are now severed, especially after hearing from my physician, that they make many mistakes here filling wrong prescriptions. read more

Upon finding out that my wife was diagnosed with Shingles (varicella zoster which is the same virus that causes chicken pox) I went to the closest walk-in to get a chicken pox vaccine so that I wouldn't catch it. I went to sign in, but the nurse told me to wait. After a bit, she called me in and I explained that my wife had been diagnosed that day with shingles and that I had never had chicken pox (at the age of 42). The nurse told me confidently that I had NOTHING to worry about. According to her, she had never seen or heard of a documented account of anybody contracting chicken pox from someone from shingles. Not only that, but she said I most likely already had chicken pox and just didn't realize it or remember. She told me not to worry about it, not to worry about a quarantine space from my wife while she was contagious. She gave a very convincing argument saying that even if she wanted to give me a chicken pox vaccine, she couldn't because she's not allowed to give to anyone under 50 years old. I didn't ask for a shingles vaccine mind you...I asked for a chicken pox vaccine. She refused and gave me a flu shot instead. So, now it's two weeks later and I'm COVERED in pox with a fever of 103F. Keep in mind that these are nurse practitioners....NOT DOCTORS. If you need a flu shot or you have a runny nose, I'm sure they would suffice (although I wouldn't come here to have a splinter removed). Because of the Nurse's ignorance and her confidence that everything I read on the internet about getting a vaccine to avoid contracting chicken pox from a close relative with active shingles, I am now sick and in pain. Think twice about coming here for anything other than a flu shot. it's not worth it. They do NOT know what they are talking about and can do more harm than good! read more
