Let me preface this by saying that I am her son. Now, this might get this review removed, but do…read morehear me out. As someone whose passions drove away from the aesthetic, I was always skeptical of the things she did in part due to my ignorance/disinterest for art (despite her repeated attempts to engage my other half the brain). As someone who is trained in finance/trading, my right brain was pretty much left to rot while in school. However, she worked tirelessly (many, many sleepless nights) at home coordinating fabrics, making the quilts, testing and developing the soaps, creams, shampoos, and god knows what else she made, on herself and with products she grew in what was her backyard. Yet, even after two to two and a half days of marathon preparation, she kept on going until she found the perfect formula for her products and the right designs for her quilts. I've witnessed this first-hand for the last ten years of my life. This story, while superficial in the background, is a testament to her commitment to her passion, the combination of art and beauty. Now, on to the products. While I am not a good judge of interior design, her bedding has always seem to seamlessly work well in the proper environment. That's as much as I'll say about that. On to her beauty products. My mom (pretty much by force) gave me these products to try on. These included, her soaps, some serums, and shampoo. Of course, I never bothered trying them until I ran out of soap and shampoo since I thought all soap was soap and all shampoo was shampoo. Boy was I wrong. When I used the typical 'head and shoulders', I would get dandruff and my head felt a tiny bit itchy afterwards. I've also used Kiehl's products for shampoo/conditioner, and I have to say the after effect feels comparable, if not slightly better. Now, I'm not saying this just because she's my mom. The smell is very neutral, and the shampoo just makes my hair feel squeaky clean and smooth. No weird side-effects. Same with her hand soaps. With regular soaps (like Dove), I noticed my skin felt a bit tight but never really thought much of it until I realized by skin was getting dried out (flakes during the winter). However, once I started using these soaps, I no longer felt this tightness and actually thought my skin felt just as loose as it was going into the shower. I don't know how else to explain it. But the fact that the scent is very natural and there is a sense of 'neutrality' makes it a great product. She gave me a bunch of funky serums and I tried one and I felt has started to even out my skin complexion a little bit more, which was pretty interesting. In all, I tried to give as objective a review as I could on her products, and all I can say is to give my mom a chance. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

So instead, I checked local store availability and saw that the Wheeling location had 3 boxes in stock. I placed an order for in-store pickup, and my husband picked them up today (7/3/25). It should have been a simple and straightforward transaction, but unfortunately, 2 out of the 3 boxes turned out to be expired. One had an expiration date of 6/30/25, and the other 5/31/25. Only one box had a reasonable expiration date of 10/31/25. For comparison, the box I've been enjoying at home, that was purchased two months ago from a different retailer, does not expire until 1/31/26. Walgreens really needs to implement better quality control regarding expiration dates. Selling expired products, especially food items like chocolates, is unacceptable. And since the Wheeling store only had these 3 boxes at the time of my order, I now have to make a trip to another Walgreens to return or exchange the expired ones.

She went through everything from how to line my eyes, use of shadow depending on my mood, and even getting rid of my chapped lips. With every consultation, she gives her clients a free eyebrow shaping, which worked out well because I was long overdue! Cynde took me about fifteen minutes late for my appointment, which I really didn't mind, especially because she ran well over the one hour time slot making sure she went over different looks and perfecting my makeover. While she has her own makeup line available for sale, I explained my current financial situation and she didn't pressure me to buy anything, which was much appreciated. I did buy a couple things (it was my birthday after all) and I love her cream eyeshadow that I use as a base to keep powder shadow put, a lip pumice, and a lip gloss - all of which I love. While I am sure there are other places where you can do something like this, I have yet to come across them. I was planning on watching a couple Youtube videos to get some new ideas, but it was so much more fun to have a lesson custom for your face and color palate. I've always had great experiences at Walgreens pharmacies. It hasn't been until I frequently need to get things like as of late that I realize how much I took that for granted. I would call in for a prescription and they'll give me a time to come pick it up or tell me a day to pick it up, and I'll come in and have to wait 30 minutes or they'll tell me they don't have it in stock. Despite sending me the message that the prescription is ready for pick up. There is one tech in particular that I've heard talk rudely about customers when asked a question. The ones who are up front talking to guests are always super sweet. But there is that one tech that whenever we ask a question he wigs on the person asking the question. It's a bit disheartening to the point where I don't want to ask questions but naturally have to at times. If you are in a need for a refill, make sure you call days in advance and still come in with time to make sure they fill your prescription.

He and his nurse, Lauren, took SO much time talking to me, showing me pictures, telling me about his practice, and explaining why his procedure was so unique. I'm now 10 months out and I look and feel so much better, so much more confident. Dr. Byun's office staff is also incredible. Lauren and Lindsay are warm, friendly, skilled professionals that aren't intimidating or uppity in any way. Such a different vibe than a previous doctor that I'd seen. I showed up at all my post-op visits with a list of questions and they listened and walked me through every concern that I brought in with me. Healing takes time and comes in phases, so I needed to be talked off the ledge a few times with a gentle reminder to just be patient. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Byun. He is an amazingly talented, detail oriented 'perfectionist' surgeon that performs cutting edge signature procedures that will no doubt be copied and become the norm in the plastic field. By repositioning the actual muscles in the face (not just the skin) his end results look incredibly natural. No 'wind tunnel' looks are ever coming out of his office! If you're researching a plastic surgeon, your search should end with Dr. Byun.
