I am a very regular customer at the Northgate Walgreens. I have alway been treated well from RX to front check out! I truly can't remember ever having a bad experience shopping at this branch. The funny thing I went online to schedule appointments for covid vax and I was sent to the Walgreens's at : 500 15th ave E instead of the North Gate branch, super close to home, where I regularly pick up my medications and shop. It was not to far away to go for my shot so I looked ip the address on phone for the quickest route. I ended up reading some reviews for that location and they were so very negative, and not just a couple of nasty comments, there were lots and lots of them. I thought about seeing if I could go to my home store instead. I was happy to have my shot scheduled and just kept appointment. The first time I went I was a few minutes late after getting stuck in some road construction. I was stressed out thinking, I may have to reschedule. I told the staff member when I got there, that I was very sorry coming in about 8 minutes late. I was actually surprised at how very nice she was about it (I guess I had all the negative reviews running through my head) she assured me that they would have squeezed me in next, if there was a patient was already signed in ahead of me. My reading glasses are bent up and no longer stay put and I made a comment that it might be time for me to get a new pair. The woman that was signing me in said, well are readers are right behind you and on sale if I wanted to pick some up. I had to fill out some paperwork for the vaccine so I grabbed a new pair of glasses and she quickly rang them for me and they were half off, nice!! The woman that had been helping me was also the one that gave me my vaccine shot. I did not even feel anything. I thought she was joking when she said, all done. I picked up a few things on my way out and my cashier was very attentive and nice. For this visit I would give them a 5. Not because they were politely just doing their jobs, but both employees that had helped me, were really nice and I would give more dreams about their service this visit, but this is turning into a novel. Came back for my second dose and again all staff that assisted us was just super nice and helpful. I did not feel my 2nd dose shot either. That had never happened to me in my life. I have heard people saying, I didn't even feel that shot. I was thinking to myself, ya right! I mean how can you not feel them shoving a needle in you?!? The other comment I have to make is my cashier up front. He explained the way the Walgreens points actually work and can save you like $10.00 on your purchase. Plus put the receipt from my purchase and pointed out expiration date and how to save $10.00 next time I shop at Walgreens's and I really knew what the points were about. He just kept it simple and showed me on my receipt what to look for! Love that! I truly had such a great time there that I have been back in there and will continue to shop there!! I think that customers just don't understand sometimes, that their pharmacist is doing everything they can to help them , but sometimes it might take a little patience to get it done, and yelling or raising your voice is not helping and really, it's just plain rude! Terrible service with attitude. I normally go to a pharmacy near my home but after a doctor appointment a block away I brought my prescription to this Walgreens. I got a text an hour later that they couldn't fill the prescription. I went back in and they said insurance wouldn't cover it. They also refused to contact my insurance for clarification. I called my regular pharmacy and asked if they could fill it. I was on hold for five minutes and they looked into it and said of course so I drove from Ballard to Renton to drop off the prescription and had it filled right away. read more

I am a disabled 64 year old with chronic bone disease and have had both hips replaced and i am on oxycodone pain relief. My doctor ordered my prescription there over 1 week ago before he went on vacation. They usually text me that my perception is ready within 1 day. This time no word. I call and they say they will have it tomorrow. I am 5 days late now with no medication and they now tell me I have to wait 3 more days because they only have enough for a partial prescription and are out of full stock. I ask if they can give me a partial and I will pick up the remainder when they come in, they say " no " if I pick up what they have that's it, I forfeit the remainder. My doctor is still currently on vacation and I am out of medication, they will not transfer my prescription to another Walgreens and this pharmacist does not give a shit. I could tell that she speaking broken English, comes from somewhere that human life is expendable. This was a major mistake to use Walgreens as my pharmacy and this will be the last prescription they EVER fill for me. I paid dearly for my ignorance. Never again. read more

Hands down the worst pharmacy. Habitually rude, late etc. They have messed up my transplant meds multiple times. I am finally finished.

Okay so. Every single time I've picked up meds there I have an issue. These people are usually awful at there jobs. BUT today I had a guy named Jason help me out. I was really emotional because my moms insurance dropped me when I was 16 in the beginning of November. Now I have the "gold plan" (what a joke) from Premara. They want me to pay a $1500 deductible NOW in order for it to pay for my meds AND in January when it starts over. So of course I won't do that so I'm going to pay out of pocket. Jason was so patient, and funny and it helped keep me calm as we went through coupon after coupon trying to lower my bill from $350. I was holding up the line and felt terrible about it and he told me that "I'm helping you right now. That's my job. It's all okay. We will get this resolved" and it was just really nice to have that experience when I was so having a hard time. So, to this Walgreens: Jason is a good employee. I give him 5 stars! This review is for the pharmacy only. I dropped off my vicodin (ibuprofen based) prescription at 5pm thurs. The tech showed it to the pharmacist who then told me it would take about 30 mins to fill. I decided to wait. 45 minutes later, they called me up and told me they don't carry that type of vicodin, it's thru special order only. They tried to call my dr's office to change it to what they carry, but my dr's office had just closed. The man I talked to (presumably the pharmacist), said they were too busy to call other walgreens pharmacies to see if they carry it. He said they will call my dr's office the following day. So not only did I have to wander aimlessly around walgreen's for almost an hour for a prescription they don't even carry, but I got to spend my entire night in pain. Thanks walgreens! Just a suggestion, next time a patient drops off a prescription you don't carry, in fact you have to special order it, please tell us! read more

When I got home from buying a few items at Walgreens, I discovered that the clerk had mistakenly (?) put an expensive pair of reader glasses ($32.99) into my bag without my knowledge or consent. I returned to the store an hour later to return the glasses and ask for a refund, which was done via my debit card. It's been nearly 24 hours and it still hasn't shown up on my online banking records. I filed a dispute with my credit union in order to get my money back. Whoot! Walgreens! What don't they carry?! I have my digital photos sent to this location for pick-up and are ready for me! Prescriptions? No problem! They are very helpful and knowledgeable about such things. Getting refills has never been easier. I love wandering through the aisles here and looking through everything that I am dying to buy. The game "20 Questions" that's electronic and it guesses your item (Yeah I tried it in the store, and the stupid game got it! A deck of cards!). I still will never buy it, but I know where I can play it when the need arises. Their shampoo and conditioner section puts others to shame. You could stand there for 4 hours and still not be able to pick something out. Garden knomes, lint brushes, even Sun Chips! Mi gusta! 1 star knocked down for crabby cashiers, but their hair looks fabulous. If you go, you'll see what I mean. read more

I really hate huge, corporate stores. That being said, in countless dealings with this W's location (mainly for pharmacy needs) I have found only great customer service. The people running the cosmetics area are friendly and helpful, and often are manning the extra checkout right in that department. Last night, we had to return because two printer ink cartridges we had had refilled didn't work. Actually, one they said they couldn't refill, and the other had been refilled but had accidentally been torn and so couldn't be installed. So, my husband went back at about 9pm. The manager on duty at the time (Brian Lockwood) not only took the time to check and fix their equipment to make sure it was working properly, but CLEANED our super dried-out color cartridge with solvent and filled it properly. Then he GAVE us a $30. black ink (HP) cartridge to replace the other one. Ink refills there cost $12.99. As you may know, it can cost $30-40 to get new ink cartridges. THANK YOU BRIAN!!! My husband was preparing for a difficult dealing when he went there....but you took the time (it helped that it was night and not as busy) and totally satisfied us. I even called corporate to give you a big, fat ATTABOY. Yes, if they're really busy they can't always go that extra mile...but for a store so busy, in an area with more than it's fair share of indigents and drunks wandering around...they do pretty damn well. AWESOME. PS - oh, and they also had my favorite Arizona decaf diet ginseng iced tea - two gallons for 5 bucks! And what's not to love about THAT? read more

I have no idea what the issue is with this walgreens. I come here to pick up my prescription, same thing every month, and there's always an issue. I opted into the text messages that tell me when it's ready to pick up, and every time I get the message and go to pick it up, the person working there acts like I'm stupid for thinking the text message alert thing works. Why do you have it if all your employees talk about how it doesn't work? On top of that, whenever you look for anything in any other walgreens, people ask you if they can help. At this one, when an employee sees you trying to look at them, they walk away. I even have had people tell me that they're shift is about to end and they can't show me where something is. Now don't get me wrong, I love Walgreens in general. They have the best rewards program (especially for prescriptions) and that's why I come. The one on 15th Ave in Capitol Hill and the one on Broadway in Capitol Hill are amazing. All the employees are friendly. I feel like all the employees at the Ballard location hate their lives. I went here for passport photos, and while I got the photos, I didn't have a great experience with the woman who took them. She touched my hair in order to arrange it in what she thought was a better style for the photo, and then she kept telling me to smile for the photo, even though a smile is not required for passport photos. I wish she could have just kept her opinions and her hands to herself. read more

It was the only place open Christmas night. I needed batteries and a few odds and ends... like dinner. After trying several grocery stores or larger type box stores I gave up and came here. I'm not necessarily happy they were open and forcing their employees to work on Christmas but I needed some place to be open so I'm glad they were. The two employees that I encountered seemed to be enjoying themselves and were friendly. The aisles were a little cluttered but I'm sure they were stocking or doing inventory or something... not many people shopping at Walgreen's on Christmas evening short of me. They have the usual things you would expect at Walgreen's but although it seems nice and in a good area, there are always some odd characters hanging out outside and the staff isn't very friendly (smiling is nice, you should really try it sometime, especially if I'm trying to smile at you and ask how your day is as a customer). It's open 24/7. When you get the deal here figured out and can get things to magically appear in the pharmacy and use the drive-thru or when you just really need something at 3am, this isn't a bad place. Make sure to mace/taze the junkies on the way in, it's like saying hi to them and they like it, and don't make eye contact with the wild animals roming the stacks of low quality merchandise here and you'll be fine. I have to visit you in the morning, so you're fresh on my mind. I have mixed feelings about you, and yet you're so close and convenient that I can't turn my back on you. Your drive thru pharmacy is often a 10 minute wait, and yet you make it so I can pick up my prescription late at night so that I don't even have to put proper clothes back on. Your selection inside the store on numerous items (cosmetics, hair care, hell even cough drops) is extensive but almost overwhelming. Your pharmacists are very friendly & knowledgeable, but then your cashiers, though nice, often give off that vibe that they're a cuckoo bird short of the full clock. The definite negatives are: 1) your unsavory location (anything on 15th Ave NW tends to bring the crazies out like the crack is being handed out for free); and 2) the last time I actually parked & went inside to buy myself & sick boyfriend cold supplies for our miserable selves, I returned to my car to find that some ass monkey had scraped the driver's side and left without a word or note. Anyone who has had anything happen to their car knows that feeling of dread and worry of cost to fix it, thus the large scrape is still there and therefore a reminder of the unsavoriness that also frequents your store. Not to mention the constant barrage of panhandling just outside your front door, who unfortunately do not take debit cards as I tend to use. We all need to visit a drug store for certain supplies or Rx's, so I guess my advice is this (for this location, anyway): Go earlier in the day when it is panhandler-free and the crazies from the bus stop at 15th & Market are crashing somewhere while the high wears off. Park further away from the main entrance and preferably away from other cars (the spaces can be a little tight and thus cars can get hit... ass monkeys). Or avoid parking all together and use the drive up pharmacy, but please remember to turn off your engine while you aren't moving. Oh yeah, and turn off your head lights while waiting too-- I don't need you spyin' while I'm making out in the short car in front of you. read more

I had just come from the hospital that for some reason didn't have a 24 hour pharmacy. I was in a hell of a lot of pain, nasty shit coming out of my ear, kinda bitchy, and not in the mood to pay a million dollars for something I could get for free in Canada. The ladies went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. In particular, the young lady who took over the shift at about 7:00 AM on Monday, THANK YOU... you helped me out. Thanks for the tissue too.... sorry for oozing nasty shit in front of you... thanks for pretending like it wasn't nasty. So I went to Bartell's with my rx after being unhappy with the service at Walgreens. They held my rx refills for the future with no problem and explained that the law is actually tied to the dates on the rx. It's sad that the customer service at Walgreens is lacking and that their pharmacists don't know the laws which they operate within. read more

Unfortunately, I have also had very bad experiences with Walgreen's pharmacy and now feel compelled to write a review. We all have loved the 24 hours pharmacy for the drive thru that is seemingly so convenient. Not. The official policy of Walgreens (which I verified with the pharmacy manager) is that drive-thru is for drop off and pick up only. But it is never enforced. At least not the times I have sat in line burning gas while the customers in front of me complete these long complicated transactions over multiple prescriptions. Very frustrating as several times I have simply gotten out of line and gone into the pharmacy and got my prescription faster than the people still in the drive-thru lane! In addition, I also find the pharmacy staff to be less than helpful and frequently with an attitude of impatience...except for one woman named Michelle who is the sweetest, most helpful of any of them that I have ever had to deal with. She is wonderful and I wish the rest of the staff were of the same quality. I also have had hideous experiences with their text messaging and emailing that prescriptions are ready for refill or have been refilled. I cannot count the times I got one of those messages and went down to pick it up and it wasn't ready after all!! And the times I have gone in to pick up my prescription that is ready and it takes them 10 minutes to find it because they have a filing system in 3 different places of the pharmacy! So, yesterday I finally gave up and had all my prescriptions transferred to Bartells. They may not have the 24 hour drive-thru, but they get my prescriptions done quickly and correctly and have the kindest and very helpful staff. read more

Now I get that because of the location they have to deal with really unsavory people. I stop by this Walgreens a few times since it's conveniently located on the corner of Market and 15th. Sometimes, though, it's tough getting out because of all the car and pedestrian traffic. They are open 24 hours and provide passport photo services. Their pharmacy is often very busy so try and call in your prescription beforehand and just pick it up. Even so, there could be lines of 5+ people at a time, especially in the afternoons. The pharmacist and pharmtechs are really nice, quick, and efficient. My only complain is when the pharmacist was explaining how to use my inhaler, he was sidetracked by someone he knew and started having a conversation with them then turned back to me to finish the explanation. No big deal for customer he saw; just a bit rude for me. I would stop by here again for quick convenient items in the middle of the night or something, if I'm on this side of the street, but I wouldn't shop here regularly. read more

Oh dear! This is not the pharmacy for me. They are understaffed, so the customer lines are long, the pharmacy helpers (they are NOT pharmacists) are hard to pin down, and they can't answer questions ("I'll have to ask the pharmacist about that"). They won't fill a prescription if they think it shouldn't be filled (my doctor changed brands because of an allergy of mine)--"but you already have that med". Totally fine spot for running errands. I was at the hospital nearby to take care of a friend and we popped in here to get her RX filled once we were released to go home. Apart from the handy location to get prescriptions filled, we bought some snacks, nail polish, greeting cards and sunglasses. It ende dup being quite the little shopping trip! Nothing amazing that sets it apart from other chain pharmacies or other Walgreens, but it was clean and made for a totally decent spot to stop in and shop at while waiting for your meds to get filled. read more

The best feature about this Walgreens is that it's accessible by Market Street or 15th Ave NW AND has a stellar number of interesting people hanging out in the parking lot and inside in their so-called cars. Upon first arriving in Seattle way back when, this was my first Walgreens. THIS is where I learned that a store selling hot pink board shorts alongside bunion protectors and Erin's Popcorn is a concept that can be duplicated throughout America and possibly the world. Only ever went through the drive thru pharmacy with a friend, and they seemed fast enough. (Dunno what the friend was getting - happy pills to help her deal with the service at Walgreens, perhaps?) Oh the service. If you're someone who likes to go to a store to run an errand, only to exit the store about half an hour later than you'd anticipated, Walgreens will do you fine. Eight out of ten times the lineups have been abominable. You don't see a whole lot of people milling about IN the stores, because they all end up clogged at the cash register. I think the Walgreens chain is participating in a paid anger management study for the Institute of Anger Management Issues at Big Box Chain Stores. To facilitate the anger, Walgreens places too few people at the cash and employ only incompetent people, or competent people, who are very good at acting incompetent. Add to this some payment systems that often act up, not enough change in the registers, and idiot customers who want to buy three Pringles chips for the price of one, but the sale was over two weeks ago, and they don't have BBQ flavor anyway - and you have a perfect little petri dish of a study going. read more

I've never been a huge Walgreen's fan (more of a Bartell's kind of girl) but I needed a pain prescription filled. My husband dropped it off on a Sunday night. We went back Monday mid morning to pick it up and the pharmacist said they forgot about it. I was recovering from foot surgery and ended up having to go in to sort it out, using my cane and going all of 5 feet a minute. Too many bad experiences here, including with photo. I had to go to Walgreens to buy sudafed. This is our conversation after I give her my drivers license. Cashier: "wow! You look so different." Me: "yes I think we all look different with wet hair. I realized I will have a hard time falling asleep with out a decongestant." Cashier: "wow! Do you have to show 2 forms of identification when you go through the airport scanner?" Me: "huh? What?" Cashier: "you look so different you should have to carry two types of identification. One that is pretty and one that is not pretty." See it's the oddest experiences that mold you, teach you what's important and what you took for granted. First lesson-humility-yes I had to accept long ago I was no bombshell without makeup. Tolerance-fighting from within to not choke out the cashier. Enlightenment-understanding she is just a cashier and well, really who cares? My lesson-I will always love CVS MORE THAN ANY WALGREENS. I would give standing in line at CVS and having to wait (while the cashier chats away with customers and I go through my coupon ribbon) than ever having to shop at Walgreens (just because I always assume there will be no line and get out without waiting in one.) I understand that waiting in line part now. I miss standing in line at CVS compared to put up with short line to purchase and have to listen to unsolicited opinions of my cashier.
