Unfortunately once a great reputable pharmacy had to take on at least 5 pharmacies in San Rafael/Novato areas. The two stars come from the fact they do get things right in the end overall. They never throw up their arms and now fill prescriptions and tell you to go somewhere else, yes this happens today with insurance issues and manufacturer needs based on patient need. Anyways... I would give 2 stars but since they do their job and for the most part treat you with respect... the reason fur the review... Sometimes it takes multiple tries to get a prescription filled. Because of the overload they carry for northern Marin accommodating the closure of other pharmacies, they can barely keep up. Crazy but it's almost like the county health dept should help out with a plan for pharmacy services. I had to return to the pharmacy 5 times to get 2 prescriptions sorted out and picked up. Each time the line was very long. It became my new hobby to hang out at Walgreens. I was late picking up my kid twice because the line was over 25 minutes long. Nothing like getting to the front of that line to see they can't manage your need efficiently- another 15 minutes. Meanwhile the line behind me is building with over 7-8 people. After they train new people I hope this gets better. The delivery service with door dash is pretty good but there was a mistake once- yes they were there in the end but was trying to avoid the pharmacy lines. Not all prescriptions can be filled and delivered. There is a definitely healthcare crisis in pharmaceutical services. Hopefully Marin County can step in. With the need, not sure why there are so few pharmacies. They must be making a killing! read more

This is the Walgreen's store in the Northgate One Shopping Center on Manuel T. Freitas Pkwy in San Rafael. On the way to the freeway, I decided to stop and check their prices on bulk bags of cough drops. I actually don't shop much at my local Walgreens, so it's been awhile since I have visited a store. Is Walgreens still considered a drugstore? I was kind of surprised by how small the cough drop section was. They had a good price for a bag of 200, so I got that. Then I walked around the store a little. The clerk came over and pretended to be straightening shelves, while he watched me surveying the store. Then when I went to pay, my Walgreens card was cancelled for inactivity. So I had to sign up for a new one. But I didn't get a discount for all that effort. I went to Walgreen's today to pick up 3 medications. I went to my car with the bag then looked at the medications and one was the wrong dose. I took the bottle back into the store and told the assistant it was 20 mg and I can only take 10. He got the pharmacist who told me it doesn't come in 10 mg (even though I have taken 10 mg before). I said I needed to return it and I wanted a refund. She claimed they can't give me a refund because of "Board of Pharmacy regulations." The Board of Pharmacy regulates whether or not Walgreen's gives customers refunds? I think not. I think the Board of Pharmacy may regulate whether wrong prescriptions can go back to stock or not, but they have no say as to whether or not a customer gets a refund as this would be a Walgreen's policy not a state regulation. The pharmacist unbelievably kept trying to make me take the bottle back, I guess to justify them not giving me a refund, even though I would get sick if I took 20 mg of this medication. Walgreens in Northgate San Rafael CA is one of the worst drug stores to try and get your prescription filled. This corporation, Walgreens, has the lowest prices for Medicare patients, and therefore attracts millions of customers who are on Medicare. However, Walgreens Corp. does not hire enough pharmacists to service and fill the prescriptions of all of those patients. In the case of this particular store, this is a perfect place to get Covid or influenza. We're all in line at the back of a tiny little Walgreens store. There's very poor air circulation and every time you get to the top of the line they say your medication is not ready yet. I called in a prescription 10 days ago and it verified it was going to be ready in a day and a half. I got here and I got the same story. It's not ready yet. It'll be ready in 25 minutes. They do this consistently. I think some smart attorneys should sue Walgreens Corp. for the deceptive practices. Because Walgreens have lower prices they have attractive too many patients that they cannot service. Walgreens needs to enlarge their stores and hire more pharmacists. There is a girl names Fabiola that works here and she is very rude. She just didn't seem like she was happy to be there. The machine wasn't working for Apple Pay and I asked if she could re-do it on the computer. Then she said, with all attitude, "I just did. It's not my problem". I told her it was her machine and she said "yeah...but it's your fault. Not mine". She pushed some buttons and suddenly it worked. But I was very taken aback by her attitude. I asked to speak to the manager and she said he wasn't around. I asked for his name and she just said "Michael." Will not be back to this Walgreens again. read more

Not sure how this store is still open. No register open aside from the photo register with no signage as to where to pay. The manager was called out when the line got long and the young man ringing people up wasn't sure how to process a FedEx transaction. The manager came out and wow what a sourpuss with a super angry expression on his face. I wish I had gotten the young man at the registers name ... he was extremely efficient even under the ridiculous pressure of apparently being newer on the job!!! Prescription called in from doctor on a rush due to a vacation on Tuesday afternoon. Came in Thursday late afternoon to pick it up and they only had 5 pills and told me to come back the next day at 2pm to pick up the remaining order. I told them I was going on vacation on Saturday and I would not have my meds if they didn't fill on time, they said come back at 2pm. Came back at 1:30pm closed until 2pm, sat and waited for them to open, order came in they said but they need another half an hour to fill the prescription. This company should be outlawed if they are this incompetent. This is people's health in what is supposed to be the best place in the world, there were 6 other people in the same situation as me while I sat and waited for my necessary medication. AVOID GOING TO THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS! read more

I would give a 0 if I could. I am a case manager, and provide medication management for the majority of my clients. This pharmacy, out of all from SF to Marin, is the worst! I called on Tuesday and was told by the pharmacist they were ordering one of my clients antipsychotic medication and it would be available Wednesday. I showed up Friday, it's still not ready. I'm told to sit down and wait for 20 minutes for them to get it prepared. Then I'm told when I go back up to the window that they only have half of the order. Between the extremely ( at a snails pace) techs and the pharmacists who make unfulfilled promises... this pharmacy needs an overhaul, retrain the employees!!! Oh by the way... i'm now been here one hour! Gonna move all the medication to Walgreens Mill Valley where hopefully the service is better. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Worst place to get anything photo related. Yes, they have great coupons, but good luck getting your order picked up. I made 3 orders: holiday cards, mugs and ornaments. My cards were for the one hr photo. Stopped by the store a few days after my order and they told me to come back the following day as they weren't ready. Came back the following day and was told the machine was broken and maybe they'll get ink the next day. At that point we asked to cancel the order. I mean a one hr photo order turned into 5 days with ZERO follow up from them. I ordered mugs and ornaments online to be shipped to the photo department, I get notification they had arrived do I go pick them up. Upon my arrival, I'm told my orders cannot be located and a sarcastic sorry, there's nothing we can do. At that point I ask to check again in the back, guess what? One of my orders was there, but not the ornaments. They reassure me they will look for it and call me. I get a call later that day saying the ornaments have been located, but it's the end of the year and I cannot make back to the store - I live 20 minutes away. I go back a couple days later to pick up the order, and guess what? They can't find it. I mean, is there no organization, communication among the staff? I've driving there a total of 4 times! 160 minutes wasted because Walgreens can't get it together. I would suggest staying away from this store! I have been waiting for a prescription to be filled since Tues. I went there in person on Thurs. and was finally told that it is out of stock and they are waiting for it to be delivered. They could have called, emailed or texted me why it was taking so long. They said it would be in today (Fri) after 2 so I called about 3 and was on hold for over 45 minutes before I hung up. Still waiting to hear from them and it's almost 6. It's not a medication I need to survive but I do need to take it on schedule. Usually don't have a problem with the pharmacy. I know since Rite Aid closed there are more customers now but they still need to keep us informed on our medication. THEY NEED TO DO BETTER! read more

Saying that you can not help someone because they get paid to do an order. Like if all stores had the same layout I get it but they don't! So do your job! And help people out your getting paid to do it either way. LAZY!!! This person wanted help to find something for their order. And the worker said "oh we aren't suppose to help cuz you get paid" regardless of WHO IT IS. it's straight business. They are still giving you money at the end of the day. I scheduled my COVID booster weeks ago for the evening of December 27th and got a call from Walgreens around 1pm that day that their hours had changed such that they would be closed at my appointment time and they asked me to come in right away. I did and was confronted with a 30 minute long line, mixed between people checking in for vaccines and others trying to pick up prescriptions; everyone was expressively confused and very frustrated and no Walgreens employees made any effort to provide clarity. I tried to get the attention of a pharmacy tech to provide me (and everyone) with guidance on whether those of us there for our COVID shots needed to wait in the line or could go straight to the waiting area for vaccines. A nice man waived me over, said he'd be glad to help, but that one of his colleagues would need to be the one to check me in, so asked me to go to a different window. However, the man who he passed me over to, Joshua, was astoundingly rude. I thanked him for his help and started to explain that he could find me in his system with all pertinent insurance info in the system for 8:20pm, to save him having to re-enter the data. He responded, "yeah, I heard you complaining about this already." Um...what? I was shocked, but figured this was a mistake (there were a ton of people raising their voices and complaining, but I wasn't one of them - contrarily grateful to be getting my booster even earlier in the day than expected). In an effort to diffuse, I replied that there must be some confusion, that I hadn't been complaining, merely trying to understand where the right place was to go, and he said, "well that's not what it sounded like," and proceeded to interrupt me repeatedly over the next few minutes while he continued to check me in. Getting away from him and over to the pharmacy waiting area couldn't come soon enough. He did let me know as I departed the check-in that I'd be finished with my vaccine and ready to leave within 20 minutes. An mild-mannered elderly gentleman was next to me in the waiting area when I got finished with check-in and Joshua came out to get his release form. When the man asked for clarification on one section he wasn't sure if he needed to fill out, Joshua sighed loudly and said, "like I *already* told you..." My jaw about hit the floor. I know this is a hard time for a lot of people for a lot of reasons, but none of it is an excuse for Joshua's aggressively rude, hurtful, and unprofessional behavior, especially toward the exact population that is trying our absolute best to keep ourselves and our community (including frontline workers like him!) healthy and safe I took my pharmacy needs to Alto years ago (takes my insurance and delivers to my doorstep same day) and loooove my experience with them. My experience with Walgreens today further ensured that Alto will continue to get my business and my $ for years to come. PS - remember that 20 minute wait? I ended up having to get someone else to pick my kids up from school because it lasted an hour and a half. read more

Had an 8:30am appointment for a vaccine booster shot and a flu shot. Upon arrival I am told that the pharmacy does not open until 9am and I will have to wait. The person I spoke to (I believe it was the manager) had sort of a "well tough sh!t" attitude and didn't offer an apology. He asked if I had been called to be notified about my appointment being cancelled and I said no. I even got an email confirmation from Walgreens the day before. I waited until 9am to get the shots but the pharmacy did not open until 9:15am - 15 minutes late. Other people waiting in line had the same issue as me and were not called and notified. I chose this appointment time to miss as little work as possible but ended up missing an extra 45+ minutes of work. Won't be going back to this store for any reason. read more

This review is specifically for the pharmacy cashiers, pharm techs and pharmacists work very hard here, they are very efficient about giving injections. Today I want to give a special shout out to Amanda the pharmacist who was working today, she alerted me to a very useful coupon which brought the cost of my prescription drug down quite a bit, she is very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I know that covid fatigue must be setting in, especially at pharmacies, but Walgreen's seems to have gone from bad to worse. I popped in for sunscreen--the store had only a few tubes remaining. There was a sign on my way in urging people to wear masks, especially if not vaccinated. I put a mask on, even though I'm fully vaccinated. One man came in--no mask--and refused to wear one. He wanted to use the bathroom. The clerk stopped checking me out to argue with the man about his lack of mask-wearing. Other clerks watched, but no one offered to finish my transaction. A simple purchase took 20 minutes because only one person seemed capable of checking me out and that person also was dedicated to enforcing a rule that mat have been changed. read more

Hello my name is Byron and and I walk today to a Walgreens Buying my usual stuff and my 12 years old soon need it to use the restroom and I ask him to go ask for a code for restroom and he come back to me telling me that the clerk told him that the restroom is not in use for the public even though other people were using it. I come back and ask why he didn't want to let us use it and he ignored me and told me was not for use after that, a different customer who use the restroom previously ask him why was the reason he won't share the code and he didn't answer then we ask to speak with the manager and turn that this individual was the manager a guys to reject the use of a restroom to my 12 year Old soon. Now this is really indignant having a racist guys been a manger of a store I honestly thinking who does that I want someone to investigate this. This stinks. read more

Judging by the Yelp reviews, the store manager at this location, a tall, bald, heavyset, black guy, whose name I forget, is very rude and fails to keep his store stocked properly. Today, I joined the ranks of those offended customers. After having spoken with the pharmacist, I was quietly on the phone in one of the aisles trying to figure out which medication to select for a family member. The manager was nearby stocking shelves and approached me. He loudly barked at me to get my attention. Startled, I turned around only to have him interrogate me about about what I needed, I was in the middle of a call figuring that out, so I responded with "I'm on the phone and don't need any assistance". He then sarcastically quipped "yeah, don't want you rearranging my shelves cause you don't know what you're looking for". What did I do to draw his ire? Why did he feel that he could talk to me like that? Regardless, rest assured I won't return to this store when a clean and friendly Rite Aid is a block away and a well-stocked CVS is two blocks away. If Walgreens management reads these reviews, this employee needs a reprimand AND customer service lessons. read more

I signed up to get a Covid booster shot here as they had many appointments. My prior shots at other Walgreens and CVS took 20 minutes, start to end. Here there was a 20 minute wait in line and complete paperwork, then an hour wait to get the shot. It just seems this pharmacy and the vaccination station are poorly and inefficiently run compared to other Bay Area pharmacies- go elsewhere if you can. read more

This Walgreens sucks! Plain & simple! The manager is so not friendly! I live close by and come in on a daily basis and every time I see him I say "Hi" and he says nothing! Nice, where's the customer friendly greeting? Not to mention he has absolutely no customer skills at all! I tried to purchase something that was marked on sale and he didn't even honor it. He could have at least said ok you can have it for that price since it was mis-marked but it's not really on sale. Simple.. not my fault it was mis-tagged. Waited 15 minutes to pick up a package! Idk how they can only have two employees during this time. When I was finally being helped Sam the boy in charge would deliberately make it difficult for me to pick up my package. Stating I need a guardian to pick up my package. I brought my half brother who is of age and Sam told us that since he didn't have my last name he wouldn't give me my package. So I had to wait for another sibling that took about an hour. Where does it say in the policy that my guardian has to have my last name?? Ridiculous. read more

I appreciate the Pharmacy staff so much. They are friendly and extremely helpful...we moved to Petaluma but still fill all our prescriptions here. I would rate them zero stars if I could, not the store or the staff but the security staff working the evening of May 6th. I arrived in a panic 5mintues before the store closed in need to medication for my 5month old son. I knew exactly what I needed and where it was located. I would have been in and out of the store in 1 min. Not only did he refuse my enterence, he made a extremely rude comment as to why I couldn't enter. I appreciate Walgreens and everything the are doing right now but this this security guard needs a reality check hes not working at a night club it's a pharmacy that helps people. Absolutely appalling. If it's not the homeless guy, with his stolen shopping cart, screaming at his parole officer over the phone about his dirty drug test, then it's definitely the pharmacy technicians who don't speak English that make this Walgreens one to avoid. While there are many places for the homeless to be, screaming in a pharmacy for almost an hour isn't one of them. Why was I there an hour? Despite scrips called in days ago, and confirmed, the meds weren't ready. Likewise, while there are many jobs available to those with very limited English, a pharmacy window isn't one of them. Nearly every single customer has to ask that the pharmacy workers repeat themselves; perhaps not politically correct to note but it's downright dangerous when they're dispensing medications, including dangerous ones, to customers who can't understand them and who can't make themselves understood.
