Is it, or is it not the Pharmacists job, to brief you on new prescriptions and give any warnings... e.g. take with food, may cause diareah, ect? My usual pharmacy was out of a new med that I am just starting for my son (fail). Im not an idiot, but never once in my entire life have I taken a medication that needed to be diluted. Per the Doctor's instructions, give half a prescribed dose for a few days to slowly ramp up to full dose. OK cool. So Walgreens San Dimas is out of it (like always), so I ask if they will send it thru another local pharmacy and he says ok. They have it in Glendora. So I pull up and the most unfriendly Walgreens employee ever who answers the drive through window. Id give you her name but shes not wearing a name tag...just a black hijab. Confused looking, she pulls out the medicine and called over a Pharmacist. Also, hes unfriendly, and the pharmacist doesnt say one word to me, much less look up and make eye contact with me. His name was like "Thian" or something close, Asian guy. I drive off and for the first time ever give my son this half dose of Zoloft and he screams that its HORRIBLE. And im like... I had a whole discussion with the doc about making sure what he prescribed was a liquid. Hes 9 and everything is chewable...so he prescribes Zoloft liquid. I had a tiny bit on my finger so I decided to taste it and see if my son was accurate...well it was foul. It tasted like putting your tongue on a battery. He began seeming like he was hallucinating and hearing strange sounds being restless after taking this first dose. So I turned the lights on to comfort him and while I did that googled Zoloft for 9 yr old and symptoms and while I was there on Google, I happened to see on the internet that it was supposed to be administered diluted! OMG I checked the package and didnt see this indicated. Also the doses on the box do not match the dropper by 5 MLs. Like I said...im not an idiot...but I just administered a psychiatric drug to my son for the first time ever which tasted beyond horrible (because it was concetrated, then he reacted not well to the first dose. Please look up my receipt as I would like a call about this. No verbal instructions and this one line of info was found the next day buried half way down on the hand out and printed tiny on the back of the bottle label. If I have never diluted medicine...please tell me how I would have known to go find this tiny bit of info. Walgreens Glendora Pharmacy screwed up. I had to tell my son...that I could not see this tiny line and gave him an undiluted half dose on his first night. No wonder he was going bonkers and saying he never wanted to take it again, hearing noises and seeing things floating from the corner of his eye. I am lucky I found this tidbit on Google when I researched a reaction and this is also how I was warned about possible diarrhea. I wasn't. What is the Walgreens Pharmacists purpose? Why do the written label instructions have 2 different measurements? Which one is correct? Is it 1.5 mgs or 25 mls because the label doesnt match the dropper. How did this happen if 2 people check? Why is the warning printed so tiny and stuck on behind the label? Why is this one line buried so far down on the print out? Why didnt I get a verbal briefing?...oh by the way..this medicine is concentrated and needs diluted? Your son may get diareahh and no its not because of diareah lettuce parasite going around...its his new med??? Make it make sense?!?!? Dumfounded...but dont worried I called a medical person to explain what the hell happened here...and well...here I am on a Yelp rant...this is not acceptable. read more

I have been getting my scripts filled here for along time now. Service has gone downhill! Today waited in the drive thru line and when I Rang the bell was rudely told "it'll be a minute" That "minute" turned to over 15 of them! The lady with the head covering was beyond rude! I know I am asked for date of birth and address to verify me by this time it was more of demand then a question of verification. Once the script was located she tossed it in the drawer never verified I wanted to use the card on file, no thank you, not even an acknowledgment of the wait. Was she having a bad day and taking it out on me? If other pharmacies in the area had not closed I would take my business elsewhere but I am sadly stuck! I was helped by Vincent as I had a FedEx drop off. The printer wasn't working, and Vincent had an idea of me screen shooting the label and he kindly printed it (no cost) for me so we could do the return without me having to go home and print a label to bring back since the printers down. I think that was great Customer Service and he had out of the box thinking to make sure the customer has not put out. And then he kindly help me with a return and scanned it back in. UPDATE: After reporting them to corporate and writing a more complete and scathing review, corporate reached out. I had to explain further (free labor and emotional tax) to lay out the ways I was treated poorly and differently than the standard of care. While she didn't want to be culpable, the Walgreens representative admitted that the pharmacists did not respond as best they could and that coaching would be given. I shared that this is a complete failure! The standard of care was not met. When someone shares they have been treated poorly and employees have operated outside the standard of care, don't give excuses, apologize, and share that it will be addressed because Walgreens does not condone any mistreatment. Furthermore, without reprimand and something to lose, those who behave badly will receive a slap on the wrist and continue to cause harm over and over. Ridiculous! BIAS AT WORK. They removed or hid the original post, so I have time to post it again. This Walgreens pharmacy is a cesspool of bias and contempt. The pharmacists here don't just fail at basic respect--they actively weaponize their position with racist suspicion, accusatory questions, and curt, dismissive treatment that makes it crystal clear: they see certain people as less than. Every word, every tone, every delay in my care dripped with disdain. This wasn't an "inconvenience"-this was deliberate obstruction fueled by prejudice. My medication was delayed, not because of logistics, but because these pharmacists couldn't be bothered to treat me with dignity. They could not care less if their racist arrogance puts lives at risk. If this is how they represent the Walgreens name, and it is allowed, I am done with this company forever. I will also share widely within my network how I was treated, and encourage others to find other options for their pharmacy needs. I've been in and out of this Walgreens many times and everything has always been fine. Today, I overheard one employee express in passing to another how much they loved working at that store. I asked my cashier about this. He went into great depth about how much he loved working there. I am surprised at the number of bad reviews and notice that most are about the pharmacy....The employees I was talking to worked in the main part of the store. Walgreens pharmacy needs better communication between local branches. I went to the San Dimas location and they told me my children's prescription was at this Glendora location. So I drove to the Glendora location just to find out they are saying it's at the San Dimas location. They told me to call San Dimas. I called San Dimas (45 min wait) and they no say they don't see any prescription. I try and get clarification from the Glendora pharmacist and I get nothing but attitude. I came in looking for Excedrin or the store brand of the same formula. I went straight to the pain relief aisle, could only locate the Tylenol and Ibuprofen products but the woman stocking the shelf had the whole aisle blocked and she was apparently right in front of what I was looking for. She didn't budge and I couldn't get past with her merchandise cart blocking the way. So I had to go all the way around to the end of the aisle and come up from the other direction. Still did not find what I was looking for and the employee could not be bothered to offer me any assistance or at least MOVE. When I calmly and good naturedly told the cashier I had not found the Excedrine I needed, and let her know the employee in the aisle offered no assistance, the cashier could not care less and just suggested I go back to aisly 15 and get it for myself. I got an online appointment for a vaccine today.When I arrived they told me they didn't have it and that I needed to call other pharmacies to check availability. I made a phone call to Walgreens in Covina and in 10 seconds they told me in which one it was available and arranged the appointment for me. I've spoken directly with store manager George by thanking him for doing a great job hiring. I've been to this location multiple times. This is based on the passport pictures. If you plan on taking your passport picture here, please don't. I had no idea that it's a fact that all Walgreens are the worst to take your photo because the bad lighting and the camera that they use. I should've ran when I got to the register because I was so unhappy with my picture. Nothing to do with the workers or anything. It's just the quality of the camera. I worried and worried about getting the vaccine because I know many places that gives intramuscular vaccines do not aspirate, and this is cause for suspected injuries like metallic taste in mouth and even more severe symptoms. So, on learning about this, I approached the pharmacy to ask if they take this crucial step. And Bill confirmed that they do. Awesome. Aspiration is important for intramuscular vaccines because you don't want injectors to accidentally put the vaccine into a blood vessel and cause problems. Aspiration means that the syringe is put into the arm and drawn out a little to see if there is blood. If there is blood, they have hit a blood vessel and cannot inject. If you haven't heard about aspiration, and is about to have your booster, it is best to ask your injector about it. read more

I came here to get my first ever flu shot!! EEK! I called ahead to make sure it was in stock and when I arrived I went straight back to the pharmacy. There was only one person ahead of me, so I was helped right away. There are two options the normal flu shot for $30 or the 4-in-1 flu shot that protects against additional strains for $40-- pony up the extra $10 because it's worth it. The virus strain is really bad this year. The pharmacist was very friendly and helpful and answered all my paranoid questions about getting the flu shot (no,you don't get the flu, but you may have "flu-like symptoms" and probably an arm that is a bit sore). I filled out a quick form of questions, paid and waited about two minutes before she came out and set things up for me. I came around a sceen barrier and before I knew the shot was done and I was on my way. It was quick and painless and definitely worth it!! read more

Decent Walgreens. I have had issues here with a previous manager but I haven't seen him around in sometime. The last manager I asked to speak to for support was actually quite nice and helpful. Its a decent size store and for the most part always clean and organized. Sometimes they run low on some items because of the couponing people (Like myself, lol) other than that, I love the convenience of the curbside pick up and most employee's are helpful and friendly. California ends the mask mandate and these people are all behind plastic screening wearing masks and refused to wait on me unless i put on a mask that would not do anything for them. remember there in their safe place behind a plastic barrier. Horrible. The pharmacist Trinh is very unprofessional and has treated my whole family including my 4 year old daughter like trash. Every time we've gone in there he has given us nothing but trouble. He has looked my husband up and down like he's better than him, he treats him like a drug addict instead of a patient that is in actual pain. Last weekend he even had the nerve to tell him "you're doctor diagnosed you wrong." Last time I checked pharmacists weren't doctors and couldn't give out diagnoses. We are ostracized, and racially profiled by him every time we go in there, so we have taken our business elsewhere. I recently filed a formal complaint with corporate and received a phone call from the pharmacy manager Bill. He did nothing to fix the problem, while he was polite to me on the phone and agreed that Trinh should be more professional he is doing nothing to fix it I'm sure that pharmacist will continue to stay there treating everyone that comes in like garbage. read more

I hate having to write this. :( Some of the people who work here are very nice. But I had such a bad experience with Pharmacy that I actually called Corporate to formally lodge a complaint. As for my family, we'll be moving our scripts over to another pharmacy. We had to switch from Rite Aid as our local one was closing (the store). I chose Walgreen's because it's fairly close to home. I have never waited less than 30 minutes so far to pick up prescriptions. These are prescriptions that WG already called me to confirm were ready, BTW. I have stood in line for half an hour or more with just two people in front of me. Inside the pharmacy everybody is moving like the Sloth in Zootopia, staring at each and every customer in utter confusion and half-apologizing for one weird stumbling block to their RXs after another, after another, after another. I wish I were exaggerating. In my three months there, there have been people in front of me (there is always a backup...always...even if it's one person who looks like s/he has aged while waiting) whom Walgreens had some "issue" with an RX or another, each. And. Every. Single. Time. I have gone there. Several times it's been me, as they say "WHAT is the name?" in this shocked and confused way as if the name Evan or Dave is something they've never heard before, and am I KIDDING or something? They will literally find *something* wrong with *every single pickup* you make. Every. Three times I had to hand over my insurance card for one of my sons yet again as they stared at me in a combination of shock and fear, because I mean...maybe I was going to ask them for medication or something. Anyway...the really bad situation: my sons take a medication that has an effect on blood pressure. (It's for a different issue than blood pressure, that's an SE.) I have called six times and been there twice to get this medicine, which is *not* an unusual medication at all. First it was out of stock. I found out when I followed up twice; they were confused and "had no idea" until that point what was going on with it. First it was backordered. Then it was backordered for ONE MONTH, yes, one month. (Heart patients take this stuff!) Today I found out, oops, it's backordered *two* months. I tried to keep from screaming my words, "You told me TWICE you were going to get it from another Walgreens." "We did?" he answered. (I was on the phone this time and had a vision of the usual confused boggle-eyes, shocked/startled stares, stuttering, and bland vacant "What the hell IS this? Someone wants medication? From a pharmacy? What on earth do we do?" looks passing among all the pharmacists.) This time he asked me, "Who told you that?" "You," I answered, practically sitting on my hands to keep from losing my ish. But that's okay. They do have it at another store. One 45 froggin' minutes away. In rush-hour traffic, so let's double that, shall we? And no, they're not having it sent down to this store. I have to go get it. "Will it be ready?" I mutter-screamed (try that, it's so much fun, you feel blood pulse behind your eyes). "Well...call them to get the refill done," he said. "NO," I said, "YOU call them to say, 'Hey! I screwed up on a blood pressure medication that's being given TO MINOR-AGE CHILDREN, the sudden cessation of which could cause a heart event. IN. MINOR-AGED. CHILDREN. So I'm doing the courtesy of calling you, here's the patient's information." He muttered and stuttered and agreed. I'm going tonight in the pitch-dark when my husband gets home (can't torture my kids any more in the car today). Because it's supposed to be there. I'm not holding my breath. read more

Also when visiting I'll do some shopping for household items, gift cards, greeting cards and wine. Some locations even sell hard liquor. Overall a good experience when shopping here. read more

The pharmacist REFUSED to print a history of meds for my mom. My mother is an articulate & intelligent lady, and she was so shaken by how rude and aggressive the pharmacist was that I could visibly see that she was not okay after speaking with him. There was a problem with her blood pressure med, and the pharmacist told her she did not have any refills of the correct dose/amount while she waited for her doctor to fix an issue on their end. She did have a refill as she hadn't picked up the last one, but when she told him this & asked him to check the bin (since the records were wrong she assumed it must still be waiting for her) he told her: "I do not need to look in the bins!" And refused to help her. So, she asked for a printout of her medical transaction history with the pharmacy because she wanted to review where it stated that there was a transaction that she previously picked up & paid for the med, and again, he aggressively refused. Wow Walgreens. Among basic customer service issues here, it is not legal [CA pharmacy law 56.101 (2), pharmacy.ca.gov] to deny her access to her medical transaction history. You may want to think about who who choose to represent you. read more
