This is a larger Walgreens store so they have a wide assortment of items. You can find anything from dinner to toiletries to office supplies or even alcohol here. If there's a line forming they always bring up more cashiers so I am always in and out very quickly. All their employees are super nice and helpful. read more

Walgreens: you can't really review the store itself, which is pretty much cookie cutter convenience at decent prices, other than to say whether it is a new fancy one or an old standard one. This one is old standard. However, the location makes a key difference: this is on a crossroads for the East Lakeview/boystown crowds, making always for interesting people watching between the 1) Jewish folks; 2) Gay folks; 3) Cranky old homeless looking men folk; 4) drunk young folks. I am not sure if she is still around but they had a darling cashier that appeared to have severe OCD that continuously talked to herself and the money while she folded and recounted it over and over...she was so nice! At times the line gets quite long but they speed it up quickly; it was long today and cranky old homeless looking man had something to say about that. read more

I made the mistake of going in with friends after the gym -- we're all over 50, and pretty harmless -- but they wouldn't sell us a case of beer, even after the others left the store. Spent 15 minutes trying to pick up my photos. Showed them my enter order confirmation and email they said they do not have them and they can't help me find them. After going home and spending 20 minutes on the phone with customer service (something they should probably do for you in the store), it turns out they did have them the whole time just wasn't looking up both of the names that I told them it could be under. Even asked for them to look up the order number and they said they did and they found nothing... after calling the store to confirm they do in fact have them after getting off of the phone with customer service, the woman was extremely rude and hung up on me before I could confirm that they do have my photos before going back a second time in a snow storm... Called back to confirm after being hung up on and once again, hung up on. Not sure what her name was but my god, someone teach this girl common sense and customer service. Will be avoiding this walgreens at all costs!!!! read more

If you go to this Walgreens for no other reason than to be entertained....it's well worth it. The crazy check out lady that sings while she bags your items, one time I got "ohhhh look how pretty you are in your ID, Dec **, that's when my cousin get's outta jail".....interesting, but always amusing. She's a riot. Good service, always busy though. Seems to have more of a selection than most Walgreens (fresh fruits, sandwiches, etc.). And they have never made a big deal about me waiting inside for a few minutes waiting for the 77 bus when it's raining or freezing. And they're open 24/7 which is always a plus. read more

5 stars for the service I get there. I pop in fairly routinely in the morning as it's next to my boxing gym. The folks there are just plain nice. Always asking about my day and offering to help. Not too long ago I still had sweat dripping from my brow from my workout and the associate offered me a paper towel because "he could tell it was bugging me". Then this morning, I was grabbing a bottle of water and my associate, Kenneth noticed the bottle was warm. He offered to go grab one form the back of the refrigerator so I could have a cold one. It's a little thing - but it started my day off great. I appreciate things like that and it will keep me coming back! read more

This review is ONLY for the PHOTO department. I have no beef with anything else, but the "trained" photo professionals here are a joke. We picked out and ordered our honeymoon pictures online (maybe 300) for in-store pickup. However....the quality of the printed pictures was astoundingly, horribly, bad. Very dark in color and so washed-out, anyone with eyesight would see that Hawaii is not the color of granite. The manager blamed it on the "matte" finish. He told me to re-submit my whole order online and "exchange them." Walgreen's online system doesn't save your orders and we had to go through every one of our pictures (again) and resubmit them. Clearly, this Walgreen's doesn't give a crap about the quality of their pictures. The second batch of pictures was even worse. Well first, I stood in line for 20 minutes with no staff at the photo desk. I asked for my money back and gave the manager the now- 600 crappy pictures and my receipt (with a scannable bar code) and he dickered around for about 15 minutes. I asked him why he didn't scan the bar code and he goes "Uhhhhhh we can give you store credit." Heck no buddy, I want cash. I said "Fine. Let me get onto the internet here, and I'll show you my receipt." The photo manager did not know how to access the internet. Finally, he got someone to help (a guy who can't/wouldn't talk, he was only gesticulating...no joke) and after I got onto the internet and showed them the same info that was on the physical receipt, they began digging through the trash to find another photo return receipt. Unbelieveable. Got sick of this charade (wasting my Sunday afternoon) and I eventually gave up, told them I was leaving, and to give me in store credit. About two minutes later I had cash in my hand...because finally, they SCANNED THE BAR CODE as I suggested half an hour earlier. In other words for everything else - this Walgreens is totally fine. Photo...not unless you like horrible service and wasting your time. read more

WORST PHARMACY EVER. I don't think the people working here understand that sick people need medication, nor do they care to help in any way with insurance issues. I'd rather pay out of pocket for scripts down the street at CVS where my insurance isn't covered, because at least there they obviously care about people. read more

For a the only Walgreens pharmacy open until midnight they need to up the customer service game. Both the pharmacy tech and the pharmacy manager were lack customer service skills. I think I'll stick to CVS then read more

Stopped by here recently.....for sure my last. The place is ridiculously run down... but I can deal with that. Iv never come across such rude checkout staff. A while back I wrote a relatively bad review of the Walgreens on Broadway and Belmont...I really put some effort into it as well. It's been quite some time since that review and I've still been shopping there, initially reluctantly, but over the last couple of years nonetheless. I really had to update that they've become such my neighborhood store. It's hard to say that about a big chain style company but the people that work there have progressively become so friendly. It's got to be one of the busiest locations in the company but they're able to handle it pretty well operationally and they do so with great attitudes. It's the easiest and most convenient place to pick up things that I really need as far as walking distance. I appreciate that it's no longer a place I dread spending my money in for stuff I need but it's now kinda a really good experience. Thanks! read more

I used their online system to schedule an appointment for a vaccine (shingles). I arrived and the pharmacy tech said "we don't have that vaccine - it's on backorder." Why did their system let me make an appointment for something they didn't even have? Really bad protocol Walgreens! read more

I'm here all the time -- late nights, the line is always too long. Thumbs down for that one. Re: The cashier's narrations -- first I found them weird, then annoying, but now they're growing on me. She is incredibly friendly, she gets the job done, and is really kind of hilarious. She'll let you know how much you saved by buying sale items, and may in fact congratulate you on your achievement. What's not to love? The irony, as some have pointed out, is that this particular Walgreens has an *enormous* lube & condom section. It is something to behold. Well played, Walgreens. However, I'm not about to pick up a bunch of lube knowing that the cashier is going to make chit-chat about it. Awkward. The other highlight of this Walgreens is watching when someone buys cigarettes from the cashier that isn't against the wall -- The result is this hilarious Pike-Place-style tossing act from the one cashier to the other over the heads of the customers. Bravo. In short: a visit to this Walgreens is an adventure every visit. And you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the show while you're waiting in the queue. read more

Maureen gets 5 stars! I was a Walgreens junkie when I lived in on Melrose, and many of my friends and family were thoroughly entertained by her. She always made comments about my Cheetos, "Aaaaahhh yeaaaahhh Ches-ta Cheetah." The anticipation of what she would say to people about what they were purchasing was the best. What do you say to a meat-head guy buying a 12 pack of water and a jumbo bottle of lube? Only Maureen can pull that off. read more

My boyfriend lately has had a lot of health problems and has had to go to the pharmacy a lot lately. We decided to come here only for the reason that it was freezing out and we didn't want to talk all the way to CVS. We went up to the pharmacist and asked him to fill our prescription. He asked a bunch of ridiculous questions like they always do and tells us it's going to be $60 dollars. We asked if he could tell us how much it would be if we had insurance he laughed and said "it's not my fault you don't have insurance". I'm sorry how rude can you get? we left immediately and walked the extra blocks to CVS. Our prescription at CVS cost us $27 that's right! less than half the price. Not only did the pharmacists there help us out they also called the doctor to make sure we had the correct instructions, which is one thing i know the rude employees at walgreens would not have done. read more

Seriously, why do I shop here? Always a huge wait no matter whether regular checkout or prescription. I dropped a prescription off Thursday and the clerk said pick up in 1.5 hours. Now, Saturday--2 days later--no record of a prescription and nothing in the system. Avoid this store unless its your only option. read more

Since it is literally across the street from me, this is my Walgreens. That's right, I claim it! Seriously though, it's a pretty standard Walgreens with some pretty awesome staff. I really like the craft beer selection and the fresh goods. The only downside is that there is a perpetual line, so don't think you're just going to run in "real quick". read more

Pharmacy folks are great, but every time I come in here, they have more and more stuff in locked cases. I understand if it's a $60 electric shaver or something, but I shouldn't have to ring for some surly teenager who may or may not have the right key to buy deodorant or soap. I used to live around the corner from here, and I must say this is the perfect Walgreens for the area. The cashiers are lively, but BEST of all, their, uh, "Family Planning" section is about the best stocked I've seen for any drugstore in the city - even when it's not a family you're planning (wink wink). read more

Waited 10 minutes in front of the photo department to have my passport photo taken. Spoke to three employees, none of whom were capable of taking the photo. Was told that "someone who could do it was coming over shortly". Inquired again after further waiting to learn that the only two people in the store who know how to use a digital camera were on break. I asked to speak with the manager, but was told the manager did not know how to take the photos either. I gave up and went to the CVS a couple of blocks south. There's only two reasons I like this Walgreens. Because of it's close proximity to my gym across the street and because of Maureen. This cashier is crazy. But fun, entertaining kind of crazy. She's always chirpy. But too chirpy. And she'll talk your ear off while she's ringing you up. She'll comment on every item. Even on what currency you use or the types of bills you use. It's an experience. Live entertainment right there at Walgreens. If you think the employees at the Weiner Circle are entertaining, go buy a few items from Maureen and let the show begin. And by the way, watching people avoid her and go to another cashier or stand there scared of her is just as amusing. Can't wait to see her on reality TV! read more

Everytime im here no matter what time it is, i have to wait in line at least 6-10 minutes, which is a long time when you are just trying to grab something quick. Im sure anyone who has been here would agree. The lines are always huge. Cant they hire more people?? All the workers they do have are so sweet though! Also, ever other walgreens in the country is new or rebuilt, this one is still old looking and out dated. Usually okay. Have been absolutely awful with my upcoming travel to Asia. Gave me false date of when my prescription was available to pick up saying it woukd be reasy 1 day before my trip. In that day said didnt know who said that but I couldnt get it before my trip. Lost the doctors travel prescription request. "Found it" again after telling me i need to call my doctor to get a new one. Called 2 hours ahead of time to make sure it was reasy but didnt even start it until i got there. This was at 10 am in a weekday. read more

This Walgreens has a decent selection, is clean and the employees are nice. However, every time I go in on a Friday or Saturday night, or heck, just about any night of the week, there are lines. I'm not sure why they can't figure out to have all registers open (front, photo, make-up) but it drives me nuts every time I go in during a busy time and the line is 12 or 15 people deep. My "go to" spot for almost any need. After hundreds maybe even thousands of visits to the Walgreens on broadway and belmont, the store earned a review. The staff is friendly, helpful and professional. This probably sounds corny, but I really think the staff cares. I know how that sounds, but after five+ years of multiple times / week visits, it seems apparent. I really love the fresh food option they now offer, however there are some cons... The lines are long and sometimes the clientele is... Interesting. Most of the time they are fun to watch, but that is not always the case. If you're going for anything advertised in the flyers - its often out of stock quickly. I try to make my visits either early morning on the weekends or before 6pm on the weekdays to avoid the lines and interesting clientele. For me the cons are outweighed by the overall, consistently good experience. read more

This place is always full of obnoxious semi-homeless people, and out of towners who don't understand the "one line, and then the cashier says step over" thing, and so they always cut! There's a very nice lady there who works the front register, and I'm pretty sure she's crazy. She narrated everything she does, which is sometimes cute but sometimes cause for a grimace (as she is prone to shout: TAMPONS! Oh, I see you've selected odor protection...very good). The floors are always wet, the drinks in the fridge are warm, and the pharmacy is a bit hectic--they are always "losing" my insurance info, and charging me seventy bucks for eyedrops. Also when I go to fill one perscription, they fill ALL my perscriptions (even though I don't need them). Then, I'm penalized for refilling too early and have to cough up the cost out of pocket! So that sucks. There is a man named Mr. Soul Man, though, who sets up shop a few yards north of that corner. He tap dances and sells lovely hand-scrawled portraits of monkey-looking celebrities. Today's Walgreens pharmacist at the 3646 N Broadway St location was unhelpful and caused me such frustration that I asked for my scripts back. I waited an hour for my scripts to be filled, he refused to call the doctor's office for authorization since I needed a renewal on one of them, and refused to give me emergency pills. He actually said he was busy, there were others in front of me, and I'd have to wait another hour. This is unacceptable. I came to this Walgreens location and got my emergency pills in literally 5 minutes! I should have come here first. I never had a problem at this Walgreens no matter the time nor the pharmacist on shift. All of you rock! Thanks for destressing me :-) read more
