We just moved back to Chicago so I don't have a doctor here yet. I heard about Take Care Clinic and decided to try it out. AMAZING. I waited about 5 minutes to get seen, got a strep test, prescription, the doctor and nurse were SO helpful and nice. I will definitely go back there and I recommend it to anyone. read more

Found myself a bit more sick than normal and decided to check out the Take Care Clinic inside this Walgreen's location. After self-diagnosing myself through WebMD, I was happy to hear I did NOT have pneumonia but rather the flu. The practitioner I saw was very nice, thorough, and I had no wait. She even hooked me up with a free prescription for an inhaler (turns out I've got some tightness in my chest). The facility was clean and modern. I'm insurance-less, so $62 wasn't bad. I like this Walgreens because, first of all, it's HUGE. Big Walgreen Stores always have better and more selections. This one is no exception. I also like that there is a Take Care clinic right inside this Walgreens. This helped me out with my sinus infections/allergies this past winter. I was able to go here after work and get a prescription. Another big plus: they have a bathroom. Bathrooms are very important. The store itself is pretty clean and well kept. I totally agree with an earlier review: you can't beat the convenience! read more

This review is for the Take Care Clinic in the Walgreen's. My boyfriend has been there a few times and I have been there once--each time we were correctly diagnosed and on our way with medication! The facility is clean and friendly; their work is done fast. The biggest perk: the pharmacy is right there so if you are really feeling like death it's a one stop shop! I am a Walgreens gal, through and through. CVS- ehhhhh... I love this particular Walgreens and I am here all the time! Everyone that works here is so helpful... especially in the pharmacy and in the take care clinic. I have called the pharmacy with questions, and everyone has always been so kind and helpful. The minute clinic is just awesome- the PA sees you in a matter of minutes and they will even write you a prescription right then and there. It's really fantastic! I even came in here with a badly broken finger one time and though the people in the clinic couldn't help me, they gave me a list of urgent care facilities and directed me to the closest one. I'm here alllllll the time. It helps/doesn't help that it's conveniently on the corner of where I work. Ha Ha. Regardless, I'm not a huge fan of their prices I feel like in the burbs they have better deals, and I know we're in the city here but I would think a corporation doesn't significantly alter it's prices between locations miles of each other in the same city....... anyway I love the staff and the convenience factor so I'll definitely continue to come here. They sell beer, frozen pizza, and ice cream and are open 24/7, what more can I ask for, really? :] read more

The best walgreens!!! Everyone there is really nice. it's a good size too so you can find whatever you need. I was reading someone's review saying it was sad that they buy all their groceries at walgreen's....and i try not to, but it's tempting when it's all right there! NEVER GO HERE FOR THE CLINIC. The NP currently working here today, does not know how to triage appropriately. I am a nurse and know how much time it takes for a quick assessment of a PPD skin test read and to fill out the documentation. It takes less than five minutes. I had my annual PPD skin test done on Friday and had to have it read by today within a certain timeframe. I was told on Thursday to just walk in and have it read, and that it should not take more than five minutes. This is true, since I have had many PPD test and readings done throughout my 10 years of being a nurse. I walked in today to have it read, and there was one person waiting for their appointments and one other walking ahead of me. The nurse practitioner saw me and saw that all I needed was a PPD reading and turned me away. She stated to come back later about two hours later. She then took a client into her room for the next 20 minutes. I waited outside to speak with her, and when she came out I kindly said can you please read this now because I have to go to a shower and awake today. There is no way I can come back later and I do not want to have the entire Jon again. She said no, took the next client into her room and close the door. This nurse does not know how to triage and prioritize. I will never come back here for something as simple as a PPD skin test read more

I recently had to transfer a prescription from CVS due to a change in insurance coverage. I called at the end of the day Friday and was told I'd need to have CVS initiate the process. Understandable. I reached out to CVS mid-afternoon on Saturday and asked them to transfer, which they did and told me it would be around 2 hours until completed. I stopped by this Walgreen's at about 8:00 (5-6 hours later) and was told that they needed additional information from my CVS, but they hadn't been able to call them before they closed, so I could come get it tomorrow (Sunday) instead. Sunday-I called first thing in the morning (around 8:45-9:00) to see if it was ready and was told I'd have to wait until Monday because CVS wasn't open that day (which I knew was inaccurate). I called CVS to confirm their hours (11-5) and then called Walgreen's back to inform them of the CVS hours. The tech said he'd reach out to them during business hours and then call me back either when it was ready or if there was an issue. I did not get a call during the day and was told it was not ready when I inquired later in the afternoon. Monday-called Walgreen's at 11:45 or so and was told that the prescription not only was ready, but had been so since yesterday. I understand that trying to get something filled on the weekend can be less than ideal, but going 72 hours without anyone reaching out to me to let me know what was going on while waiting on a life-critical mediation is absurd. read more

5 stars for the Take Care Clinic, down to a sill-solid 4 for the Walgreens it's in. I'll open with the Walgreens to end on a happier note: 1. Some really good deals. I, for example, was very interested in lotioned tissues for a nose with PTSD and soup. The sale prices were great for a drug store. 2. Sensed some real diligence in the Pharmacy, so I felt like a jerk checking back to see if I had missed when they called my name. But it took a good while. And the guy at the counter had this vibe of condescension that I can't abide. And then he rang up my total before asking if I had insurance, after which it was suggested I shop a bit more while he ran everything all over again. It worked out eventually, but the sick and tired customer is, well, sick and tired. 3. I do appreciate that you can purchase all your items at the pharmacy counter, expedites things a bit. Take Care Clinic: 1. Great web presence makes it easy to see what to expect going in. www.takecarehealth.com 2. Once you're there, the simple touch-screen check in takes care of the formalities much more quickly and effectively than the clipboard method. No one else was around when I went, so there was no waiting. Just an intuitive interface with a pump of Purell and a box of tissues. 3. I barely had time to sit down before I was called back by the friendly girl who got took my blood pressure, temperature, weight, etc. 4. Excellent reading material across from the waiting chairs, in the form of boxes of pain relievers and home drug testing kits. Not as speedy as my initial check in, but still didn't have to wait very long to be seen. 5. The nurse practitioner was simply fantastic. SO NICE (accidental caps lock there, but I'll keep it). Extremely personable and well-informed. Diagnosed the seasonal sick and respected that I've been dealing with my asthma for a few decades now and understand my body. That said, she managed to tell me things even I didn't know about my meds--all with such genuine respect and helpfulness that I kind of wanted to talk to her all day. Made fantastic and creative recommendations for some OTC help that would ease the sick. A brilliantly capable woman. 6. FREE. I had never heard about this place and it turns out my student health insurance picked up the (otherwise $70ish) tab. That was a fantastic end to my day. 7. **update** follow-up phone call from my lovely nurse practitioner. She checked in a few days later to make sure I was still alive and kickin'. This is the worst, most unreliable pharmacy I have encounter. I do not know if the they are short staffed, poorly managed or just incompetent. Over the past few months I have had 4 bad experiences with this pharmacy. Two of those were not having the drugs in stock. These were common generic drugs, Not only were they not in stock but it took them several additional days to fill the prescription. Another time they sent me to another store---not the most convenient option since there is no parking around the store. Another time they said it would be ready in 45 minutes. I went back in 90 minutes and still had to wait an additional 30 minutes. At that time it was evident by the number of angry customers, that I was not the only one getting the run around by the pharmacy staff. Let me put this in dollar and cents. I am so frustrated with this pharmacy that come December I will shift my pharmacy coverage to a policy that has CVS or another non-Walgreen pharmacy as a preferred pharmacy. Walgreen wants to grow their healthcare business, but they keep shooting themselves, in the foot, with poor patient service. read more

I went last Monday (June 25) to pick up some prescription meds (Rx ending in *7801). Even though they had only filled part of it, and I would need to come back later, I still left happy and satisfied (and also posted a positive review on yelp). The service had been fast, friendly, and I felt I was getting a good value for my meds. It turns out the service had been fast and friendly, but the staffperson didn't know what he was talking about. I came again the following Monday--July 2--to fill the rest of the prescription. They had the rest of the meds for me, but the pharmacist told me that I still owed a balance to fill the prescription (about twice what I'd already paid). "Really?" I told her that the gentleman I'd consulted with last week said that I'd already paid for everything and that I wouldn't owe anything on this visit. She told me that there must have been some misunderstanding. I told her that, in fact, I'd asked him 2 or 3 times, phrasing it in as many ways as I could, in order to make sure that I understood him correctly. He made it clear that I'd paid to fill the entire prescription on that visit--June 25--and would not owe anything when back I came to fill the rest of the prescription. The pharmacist asked me if the gentleman I'd spoken with was actually a pharmacist himself. ??! "I don't know...He was behind the [Pharmacy] counter here and had a name tag and was dispensing medication and handling payments, so I ASSUMED he knew what he was talking about." (I didn't realize patients were playing lottery to get the RIGHT pharmacist.) I thought for a moment, and recalled that he hadn't been wearing scrubs (or white coat, or any medical-looking apparel), but a black button-down shirt. "In that case", she said, he probably wasn't a pharmacist, but a manager who usually works at the front of the store, isn't familiar with the correct pharmacy procedures. what?! I didn't realize it wasn't enough be working in the same store, wearing a name badge, working in the same pharmacy, feet away from other name-badged staff, to be qualified to handle payments and dispense controlled substances. Apparently customers STILL can't be sure that you know what you're talking about. **Let me pause for a second and say that: The pharmacist I met with July 2 was fine. Polite, knowledgeable. Nothing wrong with her. It was the guy on the FIRST visit that had caused the mess. July 2's pharmacist was just doing her job and trying to fix HIS mistake.** In the end, I paid what July 2's pharmacist said I owed so I could get my medication, and left. Not sure if, next time, I'm going to get the right information or need to get the credentials of everyone behind the counter first. Not likely to fill any prescriptions here anymore. For the record: My name is Ben P_____ My first visit was on Monday, June 25. The staffperson I met with was a Caucasian/European-American male. Brown or blond hair, short, spiked. Walking out the house early morning on race day and what did I forget? With the youngest marathon spectator, motivator, and cheerleader of our family who has the potential for life threatening anaphylactic allergies, how could I forget the emergency meds (?). Oh yeah it was probably because I did not grab the one bag among four others set out the previous night in preparation for our marathoner. Now 13 miles from home base and setting up our place at mile 4 waiting for our marathoner to run past us, I look up and see the familiar Walgreens sign just along mile 12. What a reliever to see the store just an easy block away. Walking into the store the staff were pleasant, and helpful to find me the children's Benadryl. I would have to wait 30 more minutes for the pharmacy to open, which was not a problem since we would be making our way to mile 12 and waiting around for our marathoner again. An easy call to the pharmacy and the pharmacist was super cool to refill the prescription. She understood my situation and would prepare my needed medications in a jiffy. Upon ringing up my purchases with the pharmacist we had to use the bathroom and found we needed a pass code for the entrance. So glad we came here and a total peace of mind for me knowing I would be set for just in case emergencies if one arose along our race route. read more

I rushed into this Walgreens because of a minor bathroom emergency (won't go into detail). After buying the products I needed, I went to the bathroom in the back of the store. The door was locked and employee needed to open it - no biggee. When I went back there, it was disgusting. I saw a dead rat in a rat trap back there. Worst of all, when I was trying to clean up, an employee banged on the door and yelled "we're waiting" which was extra humiliating and rude! After I left, there was nobody in front of the door! I was super skeptical about going to the take are clinic since that last couple of places I've been to have consecutively disappointed me. BUT! The nurse practitioner and even the assistant put that skeptism to ease. They were SUPER thorough, asked many questions and made sure I was absolutely comfortable. Even when I was expecting her to dismiss some of my symptoms like some of the other doctors I had visited, she took everything seriously and explained all of them in detail to me (i.e. causes/treatments) and explained why they were or weren't relevant to me. She made sure that I understood everything and went over everything with me before I left. If any thing ever comes up again, I will definitely be coming back to this clinic. read more

I feel like I've been spoiled by the new Walgreens on Diversey/Broadway/Clark and, thus, thought this Walgreens was just average. It's a standard Walgreens, not much to really note. I just ended up coming in here quickly as I passed by, since I needed to grab something really fast. I didn't use the clinic or anything, so I can't comment on that, but overall the rest of the Walgreens was alright. I wish I could be more helpful, but in relation to most other Walgreens, it just is what it is. Nothing extra special like the new one that I mentioned earlier, but nothing horrible that stuck out to me either. read more

I agree with Patty N. They will talk your ear off telling you that you have some sort of "virus" that's been floating around the area. Give you "home remedies" and then charge you 70 bucks to be on your way. I've had the same "virus" ie: violent cough, nasal congestion, and sore throat for 3 weeks now. I know 2 other people that have had the exact same thing and have already been on meds/antibiotics from their doctors. I called the Walk-IN Clinic the other day to tell them my symptoms had still not gone away. They said I would have to go in for a "re-evalution"... another $70, mind you. NO THANKS. read more

I hereby affirm and confirm other reviewers' critical remarks on the quality of the pharmacy service. Don't fill prescriptions here if unexpected delays will adversely impact your health or your travel plans. You'll need to micromanage carefully their interaction--or non-interaction--with your prescribing physician. This is seemingly an unfortunate mix of carelessness with genuine incapacity. On Friday, December 6, I called for a refill and was told they would contact my doctor for authorization; fair enough, a refill was needed. On Tuesday, December 10th, I called to inquire and was told my doctor had not replied. I then learned from them that they had been calling the wrong doctor (one I have never heard of or used), a man with the same last name but resident in a different state. I re-provided my doctor' correct name and number (which they already had on file). Two days later, Thursday, December 12th, my doctor's office had still not heard from the pharmacy. Upon calling Walgreens, I learned that this was because the pharmacist had been faxing the refill request to the doctor's phone number, not his fax number. I provided the FAX number (which they also have on file). They now succeeded in faxing the doctor, and he promptly faxed back the refill authorization. When I called them back later to check, the pharmacist said they couldn't fill the entire order from supplies on hand. They would fill a "partial quantity" of 125 (of 150 tablets prescribed) for pick-up that evening, and the remaining 25 would be available on Friday after 3PM. When I came to pick up the partial quantity on Friday AM, I was given 25 tablets and then told the remaining 125 would be available on Monday--by which time I would be out of the country. A frantic inquiry to a supervisor revealed that the remaining 125 tablets would, as first stated, arrive on Friday after 3PM. I had to call at 5PM to confirm that they had, in fact, arrived. This Take Care Clinic is the reason why I will never waste my time on a Walgreens Clinic again and advise others to do the same. I went to this Take Care Clinic on my way home from work after having symptoms of an ear infection - I've had countless ear infections and surgeries on my ears, so I know pretty well when I have one. I went in and was seen pretty quickly after arriving, which I really appreciated. The assistant took all my info and I mentioned that I think I had an ear infection. Once seeing the nurse practitioner, Leslie, I mentioned again about my swollen lymph nodes and neck on my right side and that I think I have an ear infection in my right ear. The assistant had taken a strep test, which unsurprisingly came back negative. The nurse practitioner told me that I was "probably fine" and "maybe had something viral" before she even touched me - this was because I didn't have a fever and didn't have a positive strep test. I asked her to please check my ear and neck out because I really thought I had an ear infection. She looked in my ear and said she saw a "little fluid, but isn't infected. It might turn into one, it might not." She lightly touched the back of my neck and pronounced that it wasn't swollen. She told me that nothing was wrong and to take ibuprofen if I felt like it. I left frustrated because of the pain and time wasted, as well as wasting money on a seemingly needless visit. The NEXT MORNING I felt even worse and this time I went to Northwestern Memorial Convenient Care, got an appointment just as quickly as at Walgreens, and saw a doctor this time. The doctor LISTENED to me when I told her about my neck and ear, did not make me take an unnecessary strep test, and looked into my ear and thoroughly checked my neck for swelling. She said my right ear was "obviously infected" and the sooner I went on antibiotics the better and that my lymph nodes and neck were "really swollen" and I could have the beginnings of a sinus infection as well. She also asked me if I had a history of these infections in the past and sat with me while I explained my past ear problems and allergies. Five days later I feel so much better and it was thanks to NM, definitely not the Take Care Clinic who said I was "fine". Leslie never followed up with me to see how I was doing, while the NM Convenient Care did. I will never return to this Take Care Clinic due to their lack of diligence and patient care. It was obvious it was near closing and the nurse practitioner wanted to leave and told me my pain wasn't anything. I will never waste my time or money on a seemingly convenient Take Care Clinic because after this experience, it really isn't worth it. I've already advised multiple friends not to go to Walgreens Take Care Clinics and tell them to go to Northwestern Memorial Convenient Care instead, which they have with great results and a lot less pain! read more

My doctor at Northwestern called in a prescription on Monday. I phoned Walgreens to check on the status and they informed me it was called in for 1 bottle without the ml but they had not bothered to notify me. Unfortunately it was after 5:00 pm and the doctor's office was closed. On Tuesday I spoke with my doctor's office three times to ensure the script was corrected. At 2:19 they confirmed it had been corrected including the proper ml. At 5:16 I called Walgreens to check the status and was told the script had been called in incorrectly again but they once again had not bothered to notify me. Day 2 and I have no prescription. On Wednesday I called the doctor again who confirmed it had been both sent in and called in with the correct ml. Once again Walgreens failed to notify me of an issue and I still have no medicine (at this time they have no record of a pending script at all). Them demonstrated no empathy for my I medicated condition not offered an apology, always blaming the doctor/. I have been a customer of this location for nearly 20 years and the customer service has declined over the years. I will be moving my business to CVS. read more

The take care clinic at this walgreens is amazing! I was in and out of there with my prescription in hand within an hour and I didn't even have an appointment. That being said, my time with. . . Andrea(?) was not rushed. She was very well informed, let me know of symptoms I should pay close attention to in the future, and gave me a few tid bits of information about a prescription nasal spray I have at home. Terrible experience. I waited 2 1/2 hours and was treated rudely. The doctor was inexperienced and condescending. Misdiagnosed the illlness--prescribing medicine which did not help and was vey expensive. Paid $250 and waited 2 1/2 hours for a terrible experience!! I will never go there again. Absolutely detest this place. Walgreens has seen fit to replace all of the cashiers with self check out lanes. You wait in long lines as everyone tries to figure out how to use these lines, and of course, some people are not familiar with the technology and are somewhat lost. Walgreens saves the cost of cashiers, but they could care less about the time you waste in line. I have sworn off this place for good. I do not like Walgreens as a rule, but this disaster has made me swear off the entire chain for good. I recently walked a half mile down to the Jewel Food Store at Division and Clark to pick up something, and fully believe I saved time over the terrible, terrible lines at that Walgreens. read more

I went to the Porter, TX clinic for an ear infection with severe pain. The NP should have let me know that they are unable to provide antibiotic shots and cannot prescribe pain medication (even though the website stated that could provide pain medication). If she was interested in quality patient care she should have recommended that I go elsewhere for proper treatment. I was prescribed oral antibiotics and ear drops. I was told that I would feel better in 24 hours. Well after 24 hours I was in worse shape than before as the ear drops were not draining back out of my ear, which caused my face to swell and have even more pain. Made complaint to the company and they stated that she called me the next day for follow up (which she did not). The company also stated that it is there policy not to give any refunds. That is not QUALITY patient care! read more

Review relates to the Walgreens store (not the pharmacy). Never had any problems with the pharmacy. Came in on 3/5/17 at 11:30 AM and the management here is the absolute worst. They do not honor coupons and have a bad customer service attitude. They do not train the clerks at all so the register clerks do not know that they have a coupon book they can look things up on. The clerks are friendly enough and work hard, but the management of this store takes a lackadaisical attitude towards employee training. Poorly trained employees are not the employees fault, they are the management teams fault. In other cases, I waited in line while clerks were having chatty encounters with regular customers, I once waited literally 20 minutes for the clerk at cosmetics to handle one customer and she didn't warn the folks in line that it would be a long wait and to go to another line. Again, a matter of poor training. This is the only drugstore in walking distance so I'll continue to use the pharmacy, but the store is probably one of the worst managed Walgreens stores in the city. Wow. Just a really negative experience today. Terrible management. read more

Walgreens absorbing drugstore.com is one of the worst things that could have happened for the convenience of my prescriptions. Not only did my account and records disappear, after reloading them, I never was able to get a prescription sent to me without a giant hassle. My first was a 6 month supply (Two 3 month supplies). After saying the order was sent, I never got it. I called back and they sent it right away. But when I called back for the second refill 90 days later, they said I had used both 3 month supplies on the first order. I asked why I would fill them both two weeks apart and then they accused me of being a criminal (I should have never went back after this, but I thought it may have just been a rep who was in a bad mood and frankly was too busy to find another pharmacy at the time). For my last order, after paying for the doctor's appointment to get another prescription to replace the one that disappeared into their system, I was on the phone with multiple departments every 5 days like clockwork, and to no avail. Each time they would say, in so many words, "it should be there soon, I cannot tell you when, but it was shipped, or, sorry for the inconvenience, there was a delay, but it is now process and will be shipped soon." After having to ask my doctor to fax and call them prescriptions many times and after my seventh, 2 week supply to hold me over to when my medication would arrive in the mail - I finally called it quits. I am now at Wal-Mart Home Delivery, and they are great. Took me 5 days to get my prescription, including the weekend and they sent me tracking info when shipped. My doctor said the prescriptions sent to both were identical so there is no explanation as to why walgreens could not get me my VERY common medication in a reasonable timeframe (and yes, they were still going to charge me for express shipping after all that). Worst experience I have ever had with an online pharmacy (or retailer in general) and I have tried them all. Drugstore.com was amazing too, but they are now walgreens unfortunately. Wal-Mart customer reps are friendly, and even called me back like they said they would, unlike walgreens, so I will stay there. Also, even though walgreens has a better phone app, with Wal-Mart you don't need it. There is no need to constantly check if you don't need to think about it you refills. Your prescription will just arrive when it should, before you run out of it. I have never left a negative review for anywhere or anyone in my life, but I decided to take the time and write this because of the awful experience I had. Also, the fact that I go get medications twice a year, my doctor had to fax and call so many times, she did more work then she would in the next 10 years at a normal pharmacy. Their customer service departments cannot seem to communicate, and when you get transferred you have to re-explain the situation so many times, then they say there is nothing they can to do (regardless of department or position-Even the pharmacists could not explain anything that was happening). It is just a waiting game and you are expected simply to just be patient without any explanation as to the 2 month delays and missing prescriptions. No Thanks. Im sure there are people who have had good experiences, but I was certainly not one of those people. ~ JM read more
