Not my favorite Walgreens, however because of it's location close to the expressway and the stores I frequent on Roosevelt, I'll stop here for milk when I know it's on sale or the occasional card on my way to family events. This store is smaller than most, and many times there are people loitering at the entrance, while the loiterers have nothing to do with the store inside, management should do something to make customers feel safe, and not be shaken down for loose change. read more

Booked a yellow fever vaccine appointment only to show up at the pharmacy and be told that they don't have anyone trained to administer it! So then why was I able to book an appointment online then? Why not just say they can't give the yellow fever shot at all at that time? Makes zero sense and they weren't even apologetic about it. You need this shot to travel to certain countries so I can't imagine if someone needed this more urgently only to be told something like this. Ridiculous. read more

This place is SLOW and insanely under staffed for the amount of business coming into the pharmacy. It's not the staff fault; this is on Walgreens! Staff are stressed and overworked. It is insane the amount of traffic that comes through the pharmacy when the majority of the store is empty! I had an 11am appointment and waited 45 minutes for my vaccinations! Staff were irritated with me asking for an update but they need to understand that we schedule appointments for a reason... to not have to wait 45 minutes so a bit of understanding and follow up on wait times would be a nice gesture. All in all the vaccinations got done but I was running very late for my next appointment. read more

Needs total reorganization. CAN NOT keep prescription accurate. Does not fill prescription on time as promised. They consistently have delays filling prescriptions. The counter person is not helpful and gives the customer dirty looks. Pharmacist behaves passive aggressive if they see the customer waiting. We were told by telephone to come in but we still kept waiting for over 1hr. They made drive-in customer wait outside and then closed the drive-in window. We have had enough. Avoid this Walgreens Pharmacy at all cost! The staff is slow and unresponsive to customer needs. Staff is too busy over-talking you when are asking questions or trying to explain your needs. My family member was given a generic medication, when their records clearly state "No Substitutes". They had an allergic reaction to the generic form of the medication. It had to be returned for the proper and brand medication that there have been no issues with for years. Trying to return the medication that was dispensed and get it corrected has been a nightmare. The entire staff including the pharmacist lack listening skills. I trust Walgreens to deliver quick prescriptions when needed, otherwise I personally use my mail order RX program which is phenomenal I just don't trust this one. read more

Literally YEARS of dealing with incompetence from this pharmacy and the only reason I keep going is that it's the most convenient for me but I need to find a solution because I have had it! EVERY MONTH I submit one of my scrips and EVERY MONTH they cancel it for no reason and then when I call they say they never got it but they will process now and oh it's going to be 3-5 days. Meanwhile EVERY MONTH they auto refill a med I don't and haven't needed and EVERY MONTH I cancel it in the app but EVERY MONTH they try to make me take the meds and say they don't see the cancellation. Last month they screwed up so badly that I had to call and the pharmacist I spoke with after waiting 45 minutes was so rude, so short with me, basically called me a liar and that nobody cancelled anything and that I didn't submit it and I said well I have an email saying otherwise and she argued with me that I didn't get and email because it wasn't submitted (even though they had 3 items that were submitted at the same time ready) Unprofessional, incompetent, rude, unapologetic....so many negative things to say I don't have room for all of them! This is not just a temporary thing, this is years of this I've been dealing with and the worst part is that they have zero awareness that a person that runs out of meds could be in serious jeopardy if they just stop taking a medication cold turkey simply because they are to incompetent to fill a prescription as it it's a second thought and not their actual job! read more

The pharmacy is horrible I ordered a prescription it said on the app it would be ready in two days and it kept getting delayed until five days later I finally picked it up. Terrible location. Inside the store, everything is locked up so you have to wait forever for someone to come unlock things. However the pharmacy is even worse. Prescriptions consistently not ready when promised, loads of issues dealing with insurance. The last issue was putting in a prescription as generic even though insurance doesn't cover the generic and they've never done that before - not the first time they've refilled this script. Everything was rejected so I called insurance and they explained it just needed to be put through with the brand name. Called the pharmacy and they looked something up and before I even explained what insurance said, they said the same thing. Why did they do it in the first place or why not correct the issue right away when it was rejected? Then today I just waited more than 40 minutes in the drive thru. I was stuck with cars behind me so couldn't just park and go in but only 1 car ahead of me most of the time and looking at those waiting inside, they were waiting forever too. None of this time was during one of their breaks either. Ridiculous. Will be moving to Costco from now on. read more

Made an appointment for a laboratory PCR test. Received two confirmation emails that instructed me on what to bring and that said I needed to report (masked) to the pharmacy counter in the store at the start of my appointment. I get there on time, wearing a N95, and the pharmacist gestures to the drive-through window behind her. I ask if I need to go there to get the test, and she says yes, and that "for safety" I also need to be in a car or on a bike. I tell her I don't have a car and that my bike is a mile away in winter storage. She suggests (without apparent irony) that I could get a Lyft or Uber. She then suggests renting a Divvy bike several blocks away. I don't have a membership, I don't have a helmet, these few street are among the worst cycling areas in Chicago, and I don't have time. I rearranged my schedule to get this test after weeks of conflicting rapid antigen test results and protracted isolation. Somehow this was the straw that did it: I started to cry in front of the pharmacist when she told me I couldn't get tested. There was NO indication during the booking or confirmation process that I could not do this test on foot, or that in addition to my insurance, ID, and appointment confirmation, I needed to bring a vehicle or bike. It seems like a tort lawyer could have fun with the reasoning about safety. I had to walk through the parking lot---where the cars don't even move in a unidirectional flow--- on the way in. It's not hard to set up cones in the drive-through for the occasional person trying to do the right thing. I was sad the pharmacist was so inflexible given the situation. I'm an infectious disease epidemiologist and think constantly about risk and barriers to testing. This pretty much broke me that day. Fortunately I was able to find two other places that allowed walk-ups on foot that week. read more

Came here to buy neosporin as an emergency to treat a pretty bad scrape. While slowly bleeding, waited for the cashier to open the nesporin cabinet forever. The cashier simply did not care to come or find someone else to help and kept chatting with someone. The store was empty... but did not seem like a convenience store, buying something simple took a while. read more

I have been coming to this Walgreens store and used to have very good, friendly, courteous experiences on each visit until last year. Starting last year, the customer service in this specific store has been frighteningly bad. I have had multiple interactions with the store staff where I was insulted for absolutely no reason. I would especially like to mention one of those interactions during which I was insulted in front of my 5-year-old son. Specifically, I pushed the customer service button in one of the aisles. After waiting 5 mins, one of the store associates came to unlock the cabinet. She handed me the item and walked away. As she walked away, I guess she was upset that I didn't thank her (I think)? Not sure if that was the reason but as she walked away she looked back at me and said very rudely: "You're welcome, by the way!" I looked up at her with disbelief because I didn't even realize what was going on since I was busy with my 5-year-old trying to stop him from touching everything in the store aisles. During another interaction with a different store associate, I had a large number of items at the checkout counter including a 24 case of water that is very difficult to carry. When it was my turn to pay at the counter, I loaded everything up on the counter and the store associate started scanning the items. As she scanned the 24 case of water, I asked her to please charge for 2 of those 24-packs. I said I can either run back to grab the second case of water right now or I can pay for everything first and then walk back to get the second case of water. She told me to go get it now. So I ran back to pick up a second case but when I got back to the counter, the store associate had canceled everything she scanned for me and started scanning items for another customer. When I asked her why she didn't wait, she simply looked up to me with annoyance and kept scanning the other items without any sort of answer or acknowledgment. These incidents, although minor, but they have forced us to choose another Walgreens as our go-to store/pharmacy (in Chinatown, amazing, friendly, helpful staff, love the staff at Chinatown store!) I have been living near the store in the south loop for 15 years now. It is sad that I had to stop going to a store that had been my neighborhood Walgreens for almost 14 years. But the staff at this store forced me to find another Walgreens store. I love Walgreens but I highly recommend going to another Walgreens store rather than giving your business to this Walgreens location. read more

Now I say "Walgreens" you say "rats"... Walgreens.. RATS! Walgreens! RATS! These days, you can't mention this Walgreens to me/I can't drive past here without discussing the rat situation. I frequent the drive up pharmacy, whether it's for me or my parents, I'm here enough times to know at least 1-3 rats will be running on the curb in the lane on the left. That means if something falls (your money, your ID, your prescription), it's gone forever, because I'm not opening my door to reach down. Nooooope. If you go in the other lane, the little door flings open before it's even all the way down and your stuff goes flying out. My oh so loving boyfriend said "you're on your own, I'm not getting out to get that"...and I couldn't even be mad. I mean I was, but I would have said the same thing. If you can get past how ratty the outside is, the inside is full of apathy and sadness. Also, the line, for anything, is always at least 10 minutes long. Pharmacy? 10 minutes. Photos? 10 minutes. Need to pay? 10+ minutes.... Good luck, because no one seems to know anything. I had a product delivered to the store last year and it was a huge ordeal (including them insisting it wasn't there even though the email said it was ready for pickup, but after 10+ minutes, they found it.) I wish we had a closer Walgreens, but it is what it is. To be fair, the rats are an issue in this whole area. I was outside of Home Depot and across the street (behind the Dominos and whatever other businesses are near it) there were 3 rats running back and forth from the garbage to the sidewalk. read more

Their drive-through takes anywhere between 15 minutes to a half an hour the last time I went in and they're arguing with each other who should put the sign up because one of the drive-through lanes closed they are not helpful ever I most likely will be looking for a different Walgreens and I've lived here for over 22 years and I've used it for that long, but the staff there has gotten worse and worse in the last two years. read more

Pharmacy made a dispensing error with my medication and gave me only 1 pen of my life saving medication when I should have received 3 pens (the quantity printed on my prescription is clearly 3). Can't get ahold of the pharmacist at this location to save my life - they'll leave you on hold for hours then when you finally "get through" it will just ring and ring until you're disconnected. Finally called the corporate number and filed a case that way and this is clearly not the first dispensing error at this location. read more

Pharmacy staff is completely unprofessional. Sent my prescription through the drive-through box, was told the medicine was out of stock, and was told the prescription was being sent back. Opened the box, and the prescription was not inside. I called back, and the woman said, "I'm not slow, I know I sent it back." Wow. I'm also not blind, and I know it wasn't in the box and didn't fall out in front me. The attitude was completely unprofessional, and I received no apologies or suggestions on what could be done. The pharmacy here is insanely unhelpful. Recently I placed an order online for a refill, it said it would be ready by a certain time, I showed up and the girl said "you took too long, it was already put away." I showed her the email where it clearly showed I WAS on time and she looked again and said "oh we are out of that medication." So I leave and come back about 2 weeks later....I figure this time I will go in and make sure they have it and just wait for it. This time I'm told not only do they not have in stock but they do not even see the prescription in my account. Meanwhile if I log into my account it is CLEARLY visible. Every time I go I wait in line for a min of 30 min which doesn't help. I'm just kind of done with this place! read more

This is by far the absolute worst Walgreens pharmacy that I have ever been to. I've used Walgreens pharmacy for over 20 years now, and I've been to many. The experiences that I have had with the staff here, especially the pharmacist has been atrocious. The pharmacist is never pleasant on the phone. He has never been pleasant when interacting with him to pick up medication's, and not to say that that is a necessity, but he actually chooses to be completely rude, even despite being at fault. I had three prescriptions to pick up from this location which I pre-paid for with Xpress pay, hoping to make my process seamless. And the first woman told me in order for them to accept express pay. She needs to actually have my physical phone when in the past all I've ever needed to do was give them the code so I gave her my phone through the drive-through, and I also explained one pass was for one prescription and another pass was for two others. she starts trying to scan all of the medication's and putting in the first pass for the one medication which it did not work. She called the pharmacist over after trying multiple times and he comes over extremely rudely and tells me that in their system, none of my prescriptions were paid for, although I have the pending charges on my credit card, as well as the corresponding express pay passes directly from Walgreens website. At first, he was unable to process any of the passes after giving me an extreme amount of attitude. I expressed to him that this is not my fault that their systems don't work properly, and I have already made payments for all of this, so he tried it again and was able to process two out of the three medication's and still had to charge me for the third medication. So now I have two duplicate charges on my account verified by capital one, and will have to proceed with contacting them in a few days to dispute the erroneous charge. I am not one to write reviews unless my experience is extremely poor because I understand things happen. There is no excuse to consistently miss treat people and not only myself, but I know multiple people that live in my building that also go to this pharmacy that I've chosen to go elsewhere simply because how incoherent and rude the staff is especially their lead pharmacist. They should be ashamed of themselves. I will also be taking my business elsewhere and maybe that doesn't necessarily matter on the grand scheme of things but it's really unfortunate that I can't utilize my neighborhood Walgreens because of incompetent staff with an unwillingness to do better. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I've ever had to deal with. They still haven't transferred my prescription to a non Walgreens pharmacy after the other pharmacy called them for a week straight. The other pharmacy finally had to go straight to my doctor because they were never going to hear back from these incompetent people. If they actually do fill a prescription, be prepared to wait in line for an hour every single time just to pick it up. read more

I specially told the tech in the drive-thru that I wanted to fill 3 sinus prescriptions that a doctor just called in an hour before. He told me the total was $140, I paid and received the rx. I arrived home and realized that he gave me an on/gyn prescription (not sinus) from a completely different doctor that cost $107. Please tell me who is at fault here. I was handed the meds AFTER payment and was not given the opportunity to review what I purchased. Walgreens seems to think I am at fault and now I am at a loss of $107 for their irresponsibility. Poor customer service! Sorry isn't good enough. I'd like to my money back especially since I was very clear in my request. I actually loathe coming here - and I only come here because of the RedBox machine. The staff here are good but can be a bit slow at times but the manager always knows when the line ups are developing and always makes a point to remind people that they can check out at the photo processing stand or the make up counter (unless you're buying smokes). Between the panhandlers outside their door and the drunken messes that are always inside, I really hesitate to come here unless I am renting a movie or returning one. Luckily, there is always a good amount of cops in the area which helps me feel a little safer, but I swear that I was being followed back to my car yesterday (6pm on a Sunday) but he was unsuccessful once he saw a truck occupied by someone in front of my parked car. read more

BTW, Walgreen's has a Senior Discount Day (usually monthly) when AARP members and Senior Rewards members can receive additional discounts on select items! Normally I don't have an issue with this place, they have my scripts filled in a timely manner. Today was the complete opposite. No waiting for the drive up lane, however it took 15min for someone to come to the window to pick up the script. We clearly said we would be back in 2 hours to pick it up. We came back 2hr 45min later. We are told its not ready and will be 10 to 15min waited another 30min still not ready. They need to hire more pharmacy staff. That is all read more

I love Walgreen's, and 24-hour ones especially, but man.... can't they do something about the guys who loiter around the front of the store and either hassle you for change, want you to buy some random paper, or just heckle you. UUUGH X 22343. I don't want to hear your comments. You like my ass? Well me too. And even though this location is very convenient for me, and clean and well-stocked, the "front doormen" are enough to keep me away. I've opted to go to the Dominick's behind it many a time due to them. In the weird photo that is mostly a Cadillac (without a driver mind you)- you'll notice that this was taken on a Sunday because the Maxwell Street Market is taking place. The Market blocks up one of the heavily used exits/entrances to this store, which is a good reason to avoid it on Sundays unless you're on foot/bike. read more

I pretty much expect one employee taking their sweet time at a register when I go to Walgreens, but even the floor associates here act as if they're doing you a favor and that you're inconveniencing them by needing their assistance or simply asking where the bathroom is. Speaking of bathroom, apparently it takes a super top secret code to get in, so better hope you don't have to go too badly or you'll be pissing yourself before Ms. High and Mighty gets her attitude to the door to let you in. read more
