Tried to use photo services for passport pictures. I was standing in another Walgreens location and learned (after 30 mins trying to reach a human to no avail then finally just going to the store) that they don't do passport pictures as advertised. I went to Walgreens, this location late last night, dressed casually. I simply went there to use the ATM machine. Of course when I withdraw money, I admittedly do constantly look around for safety concerns. So, I hear the phone ring at the cashier, then perhaps minutes later, two police crusiers arrive at the store. This season I'm batting 2 for 3 at this Roosevelt location. Before, the police was called on me when I wandered about the store looking for potato chips. In another Walgreens, in a nearby area, same thing. The police was called when I searched aisle to aisle looking for cough medicine! Wow! Is it my color, who knows, I'm running out of stores in the South Loop. My experience, it doesn't matter who is behind the surveillance camera, black or white, the black guy will be targeted! read more

Big store, often packed, friendly and helpful and fairly plentiful staff has all the basics, but is on the big side.

Super helpful staff. My pops needed me to break a $100 into two $50s(giving cards with money for Xmas). I initially hit up the Staples nearby and that clerk just gave up. Selfie stick. They need to move the selfie stick bin to before where the checkout line begins. I'm waiting for the super helpful clerk to convert my change to two 50's and I'm eyeballing this selfie stick in the selfie stick bin(dang it has Bluetooth). But it's like kind of wedged between the two checkout lanes. I will say they need to properly put the pricing levels on that box. I initially thought those selfie sticks were $10 because that's what it said on one side of the front of the box. It's a quality selfie stick as well. I'm saying to myself wow $10 for a premium selfie stick; today's my lucky day. I tell the guy converting my cash hey ring this up too while your at it. Bam, $25, not $10, for the premium selfie stick. Wha?! I lean back a bit to look at the price on the box and it says $25 on the other side of the box. Honestly y'all was so helpful and it was such a premium selfie stick(I was ready to pay 35, nay, $55 for a premium selfie stick) and I'm not that type of guy to hold the entire show up. There were at least 15 people in line waiting behind me; I didn't want to be the guy to hold everyone up for a price check on a selfie stick. There were so many people waiting in line that they opened up cosmetics as an additional checkout lane. It's odd though: the next guy in line was buying a massive teddy bear for his sweet honey and just didn't want to give up his spot to walk the fifteen feet to cosmetics. I can tell he was calculating the cost/benefit of the move; I think he made the right choice. I need to ask: do we need a plastic bag for literally every single purchased object, Walgreens? Can we curtail the bag usage? I don't need an environment-destroying, tree-branch catching plastic bag for my Chapstick and Snickers. Great Walgreens location, great people. read more

Horrible customer service. I was looking for a swim shampoo, and I could see online that it was in stock. I spent almost 30 min searching for it, and when asked for help both the employees were "check the shampoo aisle" . Well thank you, it didn't occur to me before. read more

The writer who complained about the drive thru is wrong as there is no drive thru at 316 W Cermak. The store has great employees - but sorely understaffed and Walgreens makes so much money off the local population. Walgreens does not support this community and are a complete eyesore. The store is 20 years out-of-date and they do not invest any money at this location. Their greed really show through in some neighborhoods. I go there for rx and will finally find another pharmacy. read more

Usually have a decent experience at this location, however it reached a low point for me recently. Needed to quickly pick up a prescription after work. I was fourth in line for the drive through window, pretty typical for 6pm. However, it took twenty minutes for just one car to get through...unacceptable. read more

I can't deal with prescription after prescription that take 5-6 or more hours longer than the promised time. I feel bad for people who are uncomfortable while they wait on this seemingly understaffed or otherwise incompetent Walgreens pharmacy. I continue to go because it's 24 hours nearest my home. They say nothing in the way of apologies and ask you if you can just come back later. read more

Only giving 1 star cause it won't let me leave it blank. Cashier was lazy!!! Wouldn't scan items until I, the customer, took them out of the basket for her. Then didn't even ring everything up because she was busy chatting. If her name was on the receipt I would post it. Customers aren't paid to do your job for you. It's 24 hours. Yes, it can seem sketchy with the people hanging around outside the store. It's pretty clean inside. Stock is usually good except the sale items can run out (which is usually the TP). Usually only one cashier at night and lines can get long. read more

This review is just for the pharmacy. I will never use it again, and neither should you. I picked up a regular medication from their 24 hour window one evening. After four days of feeling strange, I brought the medication back. I told a pharmacy tech, "I know this sounds crazy, but I think this is the wrong medication." He poured some out and then got the bottle from the pharmacy shelf and poured some out. He obviously believed they would be the same, and was shocked when they weren't. He called the pharmacist over who continually repeated, "I don't know how this could happen," in between her accusatory questions, such as, "Did you pour the medicine out and put this one in?" The worst part was - when I told her I didn't know how it happened either, but I wanted my correct medicine, she replied, "You'll have to come back tomorrow when the pharmacy manager is here." So.... they filled my prescription with the wrong medication (I had adverse reactions to both the medication and to NOT taking my regular medication), then they refused to fill it correctly. Unbelievable. I even asked if there was a pharmacy manager on call, as I really needed m y regular medication at that point. She said no. The next day, the pharmacy manager was very apologetic. He said she most certainly could have called him. He gave me a small gift card. It was bad enough to be given the wrong medication - but that would not have made me write this review. It was the horrible, demeaning treatment by the female pharmacist that came afterward. No one deserves to be treated that way. And a gift card does not make up for it. read more

yea, those guys who loiter are sooo annoying. i thought University Village was a nice area, since i go to UIC, and i can pretty much pick out the shady ass places, but apparently not. we just got a crazy crime alert email about some dude who was the victim of an armed robbery and aggravated kidnapping in the parking lot. The student was walking toward his vehicle when a man told him he had scratched his car. As the victim walked closer to examine his car, the offender displayed a handgun and ordered the victim into the car. The offender took the victim to several ATMs, where he forced him to withdraw money, and then to the Target store at Roosevelt and Clark, where he forced the victim to purchase several items. The offender and victim returned to the Walgreen's parking lot and the victim was ordered out of his own car by the offender, who ordered the victim to follow him to the White Castle at Roosevelt and Western driving a second car. The victim entered the second car but drove instead to 1250 S. Halsted St. and called Chicago Police. The victim was not injured during this offense. The second car, which had been reported stolen, was recovered. The student's vehicle remains missing and was entered into the law enforcement database. The offender is described as a black male, 30-45 years old, 5-8 and 200 pounds, bald but with facial hair, and wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. just be freakin careful!!! theres a buncha crazies out there! =( read more

I've repeatedly had issues with the pharmacy at this location. If you make it clear that you NEED your medication, they will do everything they can to make sure you DON'T get it. Very strange! There is a sign telling you to ask about automatic refills and get your medications delivered. I tried to do that for my important medication that has withdrawal symptoms if you miss it. According to Dr. Hughes, the pharmacist, she can't initiate automatic refills. She has to ask the manager but she wasn't willing to get that done for me. Dr. Hughes is also unable to get medications ordered for you because she is the night pharmacist. You have to come back or call during the daytime to get that done? WTF? I tried to get delivery of medication because it kept not being ready for pick up. Days past, no medication. Called twice, they kept saying that it would be delivered. Never came. Had to go in an pick it up. I tried to pick up a new medication for a hormone pill (hot flashes) and they were treating me suspiciously like they shouldn't give it to me and kept asking me if I'm pregnant and then I can't have the medication. I'm 50 years old and don't look pregnant. Dang it - my doctor prescribed the pill for me, why is the pharmacy accusing me of being pregnant read more

This review is for the pharmacy only.This used to be my family's go to pharmacy for years. We continued to come here to fill and pick-up our many prescriptions even after we moved out of the neighborhood because of the great service and caring pharmacists that would always help us. Then they started promoting people; great for them, lousy for us. The pharmacists they have know are either fresh out of pharmacy school and/or incompetent boobs. It's literally a fight every time we go to pick up medication- they either don't have it ready yet at the promised time, don't have it (and you have to bother them them multiple times to order it for you), don't have enough of it (really? I need more than three pills and no I don't want to come back over the weekend), give you the generic version even though it says on the script and on file that you can only take the brand name, or mix-up medications (they gave me two different doses of the medication in the same bottle). The final straw happened today-they didn't have enough of my medication last week so they gave me 15 pills and told me they'd have the rest ready this week- so today rolls around and they claimed that I picked up the remaining 75 pills days ago. What the hell Walgreens? I'm sick and tired of wasting my time and energy arguing over medication I need. read more
