This one is a tiny bit more unique than others because it has signage in Chinese, similarly to the Greektown one, since this store is located in the middle of Chinatown. When the $5 Walgreens Cash rewards card wouldn't scan at checkout, the cashier had the nerve to tell me that it wouldn't work on wrapping paper purchases (the one item I was buying). I don't usually patronize this Walgreens location for the simple fact that they have a reputation of terrible customer service, no matter what you are there to buy. I have no patience for nonsense like that. Unfortunately, my daughter has a mild ear infection and since we already had dinner plans in Chinatown, I opted to have her prescription sent there instead of our regular Walgreens. What could possibly go wrong? Well, first off, when we got there, I literally stood in line for over 15 minutes, mind you there was only ONE person ahead of me. Even after the lady walked away, no one behind the counter even looked up to acknowledge my existence. So, I stood and waited..and waited. Finally, the girl behind the counter comes up & asked what I needed. I told her that I was there to pick up a prescription for my daughter, Amoxicillin for an ear infection. She blanked stared me for a few seconds, then I explained to her that it was a doctor's order that was sent about an hour prior. Without even going to check, she immediately says to me that they JUST received it, so it won't be ready for another half hour. I knew that was a lie, because I saw the doctor send the script, and it had been well over an hour by the time we got to the Chinatown area from the Northside. So basically, I waited in an empty line for almost 20 minutes just to be told that I would have to wait AGAIN because our prescription wasn't ready. Half hour past, my mom ended up going back inside to pick up my daughter's meds because I couldn't deal with this madness anymore. She disappeared for another 20 minutes! I thought something had happened to her, so my kids & I headed back into Walgreens to see what was going on. Turns out that our prescription STILL wasn't ready in the half hour time that was promised to us. My mom stood waiting AGAIN. On top of that, she was given Amoxicillin powder. The pharmacist comes running out to tell her assistant to take it back, that she needed to add water to it. Really?! To top it all off, when we took the meds out of the plastic bag, the bottles were all sticky & grainy as if they spilled or something. So tacky!! All in all, THE worst experience I've ever had picking up a prescription. I am so over this Walgreens and their incompetent staff. No customer service skills or professionalism whatsoever. After this incident, I NEVER want to go back to this Walgreens to pick up my medications. I was referred to see an eye doctor by my family doctor and the eye doctor prescribed me an ointment to use. However, the ointment was sold out and Walgreens told me to wait. After waiting for a week, I contacted them about it and a lady, that spoke Cantonese, RUDELY told my dad "You need to talk to your family doctor to see if it is approved because only your family doc can prescribed medicine for you." When I heard that, I was literally so confused like I don't think that's how it works...? So I called my family doc and she told me "It is out of my control to approve the ointment because it is not relevant to me and it is the eye doc's decision." Which I thought "seems fair because it is the eye doc who prescribed it, why should my fam doc be involved?" So I called Walgreens again and I was transferred to 3 different helpers and finally, a lady picked up. She spoke Mandarin and explained to my dad that there was something wrong with the ID and the eye doctor didn't renew their licenses to prescribe the ointment. Literally, this sounds like bullshit to me because there is no way a doc would NOT renew their license. She kept telling my dad to go back to fam doc and ask her to prescribe it, but it has NOTHING to do with fam doc, why are you asking us to go back??? What I think happened was, the ointment was given to the wrong person or was given away and they can't open me a new one without getting a new form. So then they keep making up bullshit excuses and push the responsibility to the doc instead of themselves. They were absolutely UNAPOLOGETIC about the whole situation, not only were they rude about it, they didn't give a shit. Literally, their lack of responsibility can cause harm in the person because what if they really needed it and you're not giving it to them because the doc didn't "renew" their license?? Absolute bullshit. I've never been so disappointed in this Walgreens, after this incident, they will not see me in the pharmacy section ever again. I had very bad experience here with Jennifer, the second manager as the workers call her. She read the coupon wrong for the Enfamil product I was trying to purchased. I taught her how to properly read the fine prints and yet she still wanted to argue with me and go by the pictures on the coupons. It clearly says "good on all enfamil products" and all I did was getting the bigger size of the product so they could make more money off of me anyways. Learn how to read properly if you say you are a manager. Thank you! The only bad thing about this walgreens is the check out line. It just gets very long at times. Especially pharmacy, I think they need to hire more employees to work at the pharmacy section. There are usually 2 people in front of me waiting to talk to a pharmacist or get my prescription, but the wait is usually 15 minutes or more. And the pharm interns or techs can be a little nicer and give better customer service. It's cool that they can speak Chinese (good if your English is bad and if you speak Chinese). They are pretty helpful if you ask nicely. Over all if you are not from the area then you should just go to another Walgreens (unless it's for some emergency). read more

Nobody's home here. They forget to call when there's a problem with the prescription, then when you call them back you get put on hold for 10 minutes. I was waiting for over a week for them to call to tell me when my prescription got in...when they said it would take 2 days. I went there in person at first and they assured me the drug was covered by my insurance. So I call a week later and ask about it, and wait on hold, and then they tell me it hasn't even been ordered yet because of some glitch with the insurance. Well, maybe you should have called and told me about this instead of just letting it sit. Now I have to straighten this out and probably wait another week just to get my medicine. Ok like all my reviews I will give you my honest opinion. I am not employed or have I ever been employed by Walgreens. I was in retail for a few years so I totally understand how it works. I have been in many Walgreens throughout the years. Some better than others. A lot has to do with the location and volume of sales. This location has a high volume of sales including pharmaceuticals. I have read some of the reviews and feel that most are completely inaccurate. I go in here on a daily basis and have always been treated with respect and greeted with a friendly hello. The aisles are always organized and the products are always well stocked. Now take in mind that I was in retail and have higher expectations than most. Bathrooms are bathrooms . Whether it's a five star hotel or a bowling alley they will get dirty. Not many people treat a restroom like their own. When you have a huge homeless population which China town does the bathroom will get DIRTY. No one regardless of occupation should have to constantly clean human shit off of everything that doesn't make it into the toilet. They have a decent parking lot but take into mind where you are at. China town... a tourist attraction in Chicago. Parking for sure will get tight. The staff is friendly and very outgoing . They always bend over backwards to help with a limited staff. Jennifer the assistant manager goes above and beyond to help. Again take into mind that her responsibilities include more than just managing. Stock needs to get put out. Items need to be rung up. Customer service needs have to be dealt with . So I think she is getting a unfair review . Give her a break . She has tons of responsibilities and retail is not easy. Jennifer has much pride for her job and does the job of 5 people. She does more in one day than most do in a week . Kendrick the store manager is one of the greatest managers I have ever met. He clearly is an asset to Walgreens and very friendly . So I hope this helps. Retail is not easy. But I feel they do a great job considering the homeless constantly stealing and causing disturbances, the overflow of tourists always in demand and the shortage of staff. This place is definitely open. I was here on Sunday 3/28 and people were alive and well whilst shopping. I have to say the employee's were not very friendly and a customer actually burped in my face. Yup. I almost puked on her but instead I paid quickly for my diet pepsi and crystal light and ran away. I move every year and therefore have had a lot of experience with different Walgreens pharmacies, picking up regular prescriptions. This one I've had the last year is by far THE WORST pharmacy. They definitely do not have their shit together - they need to figure out a solution - they are either understaffed or their staff is incompetent or they don't know how to deal appropriately with incompetent patients because prescriptions aren't ready when they're supposed to be and every time the line is long an extremely slow moving. I didn't want to deal with switching pharmacies since I knew I'd end up switching when I moved anyways, but if you're deciding on a pharmacy, even if it's your closest one, go elsewhere! read more

Stopped into this Walgreens to use the restroom quickly, which was a huge mistake. The bathroom has a code that an employee must punch in to open for customers. I waited close to 15 minutes to be let into the bathroom after telling them I am pregnant and terribly in need of the restroom. Two other women were waiting for the restroom, too. One employee walked by and said, "No, I'm going to help someone else," and another employee walked by and held out his finger, as if saying, "Wait." Then as the employee finally came to open the door he sauntered over tossing and catching his keys in his hand, as nonchalantly as possible. No apology to the waiting customers, and no concern shown whatsoever. If the store is that busy, that location really ought to rethink how it staffs.
