It always appears well stocked and has lot of unique items-like parkas for your dog or cat......holiday items....a huge wine/alcohol selection...large grocery selection....photo area...pharmacy area...etc. 10 rolls of toilet paper for $5.00! Masks are required for entry and social distancing markers make the check out line reasonably spaced. Always 3-4 registers open and sometimes a manager ringing up customers as well....great team of people. read more

This happened last summer, but I still have a bad taste in my mouth, and have avoided going into this Walgreens for this exact encounter. All I'm trying to do is pick up an online order. I'm told by the email I received from Walgreens to go to the pharmacy counter. I wait in line, get up to the front, and they are trying to charge me for my prescription that has already been paid for. Then I'm told to go to photos. I get to photos and it's this same man with maybe 4 dreads- huffing and puffing asking for my name. I give it to him, and he says I have to go to Pharmacy. I explain I just got back from the pharmacy and they told me to come here. He starts stomping, grabs my bag and starts marching towards pharmacy. I follow..... and he goes back there and gives them the bag, says nothing to me and leaves. I just continually wait again for my things, and he decides to come back up to me and starts saying it's because I placed the order when the pharmacy was closed. I explain I placed the order yesterday, it's been 24 hours... he starts snapping back at me (in front of an entire line of customers who are waiting for their prescriptions) and then walks off, screaming "these mother f***ers are trying to f******* PLAY WITH ME TODAY". I am absolutely shocked, and honestly pretty upset. I keep waiting by the counter and at this point I've been here for 20+ minutes, just for this order pick-up. At this point the pharmacist tries to charge me again for my prescription.. I show her the email confirmation she takes my phone and is trying to look through it, she hands it back to me asking me to sign in, then shes continually scrolling (which I don't mind I just wanted to get my stuff and leave). She gives me my phone back and leaves again. I continue to stand and wait.. then I'm told to go over to the other pharmacy window. Another woman comes over, looks like she called the manager? The manager is looking and me and asks what the problem was. I'm like... I'm just trying to pick up my online order(??). What is even happening right now? She goes oh, you don't have your prescription? I say no... again I'm trying to show her the online order confirmation, and it shows right here I've paid for this prescription (keep in mind, it was only $8). She says oh alright here you can have your prescription. I'm thinking in my head why have I been here for 30 mins getting yelled at by this man and walking back and forth?! I walk out and walk past the man who is back at the photo counter, and I go "I hope you have a better day". He gets enraged and he said no I hope you have a good f****ing day. I said I am. And as I'm walking away I have this gut feeling in my stomach and realize, this is so not okay. So I turn around and ask him what his name is. He's turned away and says "I don't remember". I say I heard you screaming 'these mother f***ers better not play with me today'? And he snaps "Don't you f***ing swear at me!!" I go, "I'm literally quoting what you just said???". I leave because at this point, I start to feel unsafe. This man knows where I live, and my full name. He should never be given a role working around customers. I feel angry that this even was allowed to happen, embarrassed, and threatened at this point. read more

Also one of the stupidest decisions walgreeens as a corporation made was to replace clear freezers with inaccurate screens saying what products are inside, this makes finding a beverage an annoyance read more

What is going on? Been filling my prescriptions here for years. Just was in Hospital and doctor changed medications. She called in new prescriptions on Saturday am. It is now Monday pm and they still do not have prescriptions ready. These are heart medications - I cannot do without. Will be changing provider for medications. 72 hours and you still cannot fill. Have picked up my prescription 3 or 4 times from here. Be prepared to wait a while, whether on hold or in the pharmacy. The pharmacy appears extremely understaffed, and this stress can be seen in your interactions with the pharmacy. This place is grossly understaffed. Checkout lane is usually 7-8 people long with only 1 cashier . If there is a slow costumer everyone else is out of luck. Half of the items are locked up. I am fine with that due to bum shoplifters in the area, but there is nobody on the sales floor to unlock them for people who want to purchase the products. I guess these products are just for show like a museum? Not worth the aggravation. read more

This is my go to Walgreens in the neighborhood because it is convenient for me. I know the area that I live in but I do feel they should have more items for people of color i.e. hair dye, make-up, skin care, magazines etc. I also don't like that the Pharmacy closes so early on the weekend and if I believe if you go to one that is open and they are closed you are not able to get your medication no matter how important it is for you to have it but I'm not completely sure so don't quote me. The staff is great and I love finding the clearance deals because I'm about saving a little money on everyday items. Two prescriptions (antibiotic and sinus spray) were waiting for them when the pharmacy opened at 9AM. I popped in at 1PM and was informed that it would be at least another hour. I politely questioned the timing and was told that the pharmacy lunch hour is at 11AM. I WILL NEVER GIVE ANY BUSINESS HERE AGAIN. The timing is unacceptable and they clearly seem to think that a person waiting half a day to begin medication is acceptable. read more

This Walgreens is fine, but a slight step below what you'd consider a typical Walgreens experience. The store is large and has plenty of selection, but the checkout can get agonizingly slow, and items get picked over frequently. However, there's really a limit to how bad a Walgreens can be. I had my first COVID shot at another Walgreens and scheduled my 2nd at this location SIX weeks in advance. The day before my appointment, I received an e-mail telling me that they were expecting me and that nothing had changed. Later that day, I was left a voicemail to the effect they had NO VACCINE and that I should contact the pharmacy at which I had had my first shot. Made an appointment for flu shot- received TWO confirmations for the appointment- got there and they were closed. Apparently they were shut down for not storing their medications properly and had to change over complete inventory. They also treat customers like they have some audacity trying to get their scripts filled. I drive two miles to get my prescriptions now, even though this place is right next door. It's not worth it. I am a pharmacist and can understand and appreciate the working conditions are tough. I'm giving 2 stars only because the techs make up for the pharmacists here. The techs are helpful but the pharmacists can be real short and annoyed with the customers. Walgreens, give them help so that they can treat patients with some humanity. This is not just a problem because of Covid, the pharmacists here generally have a very short amount of patience with their customers. They have forgotten about showing some compassion, something I learned in school! They don't generally make an effort to make you feel they have time for you. read more

As a drugstore they cover a plethora of needs, alike any other Walgreens. On occasion they also carry fresh flowers, which is a help when you're in a jam ;) However many a winter time, they don't clean the snow off the sidewalks properly. WTF! This Walgreens just opened in the old bank building that had been abandoned forever. This place is super cool. They kept the architecture of the building, restored the old ceiling, there is an awesome stained glass ceiling, they even left in the old vault and turned it into a 'Vitamin Vault'. This is not your normal Walgreens, it is similar to the one on State St. They have a frozen yogurt bar, coffee bar, sushi bar (they were giving out free samples when we were there, yum!), bakery with cupcakes and sweets, sandwiches, etc. I mean, what other Walgreens has that?! They have a huge wine section and a craft beer area as well. Oh and they also have a section that sells all types of cheeses. The whole upstairs is cosmetics. They have a lot of higher end products here that you would see at Ulta. The store in general has higher end items it seems (along with the basics of course). They have a huge ice cream selection in the freezers as well. Lots of grocery items as well. The pharmacy has a nice lounge type waiting area. So excited this has opened in our hood! read more

Been awhile since I been in here...I went in on this past Saturday, and as any other Walgreens, helpful staff and plenty of choices for things. As I read Ninas post...she seemed to be happy that they replaced checkouts with self checkouts. Admittedly I am not too much a fan for this as...well job market today sucks. But I digress. There was a gentleman at the front who was very helpful (wish I could remember his name but he was in a wheel chair) and quiet friendly, which made my in and out a pleasant one. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I truly would give this zero stars if I could. My sister had surgery so we stopped on the way home to drop off her prescription while she waited in the car. Pharmacy was supposed to open at 8am, which is when I arrived. I waited for 20 minutes while the staff was chit chatting with the doors closed to the pharmacy, all while my sister is sitting in the car wanting to be home. A long line formed of people trying to pick up prescriptions before work. Finally, after repeatedly knocking on the door, they opened. Staff was rude and it's now 2:30pm and her prescription, which they said would take an hour, is still not ready. My sister is in pain without her medication and we've called to follow up. I re-downloaded Yelp specifically to leave this review because I'm so sick of how awful this pharmacy is. I've been coming here for over a year just because of proximity, but at this point I'd rather drive hours than deal with this place. They lose track of prescriptions, they do not answer their phones and I can literally hear them pick up and hang up on me after I've been on hold for half an hour, and they never send notifications if something is ready or if there's an issue with insurance. I've gone in person to try to rectify issues, and they never seem to know what I'm talking about and act annoyed that I seem to expect answers. And while this review may not seem like it, I've been incredibly nice and patient every time I've received this treatment, but I've had it. The Walgreens location itself has nice employees and a wide selection, but the pharmacy could probably win an award for worst pharmacy in America. read more

Did you know that this place has socks? Really they have socks! I have bought everything at Walgreens but never socks. The reason I went to look for socks was because I went to hit the club at Equinox but realized I forgot socks and instead of heading home I figured I would just pick up a pair. First, I hit the running store (across the street from here) but I could not pull the trigger on a 15 dollar pair of short running socks. I kept thinking will these socks run by themselves for this price? I then figured it would not hurt me to peak into Walgreens. I walked around the store searching for socks but I did not see anything. I then asked one of the employees and she pointed me in the right direction. I think I was in shock when she said that they had them. Here was the best part. They had 6 pair of socks for 9 bucks with a 1 dollar off coupon attached to the package. Score! I would rather get 6 pair of socks for that price then getting a sock mortgage across the street. I was really surprised that Walgreens was able to help me in my time of need. I truly believe that they have everything in here now...all I have to do is just ask. read more

I was at the North Ave and Wells Walgreens about 8pm on June 8th and needed to get over-the- counter medication. I couldn't find it and asked an employee stocking the shelves (in isle 25 stocking the vitamins) for help and he pointed in the direction of the medication and said it was on the top shelf. I went over to the other isle and looked along the wall and couldn't find it. Spent about 5 minutes looking for it in the allergies because that is what my husband has. Afterwards I went back to the employee and asked again, instead of having customer service skills and showing me where it was he pointed again saying top shelf and I said I didn't see it. He said top shelf again and I said I didn't see it can he show me then he stood up and said it's on the top shelf, and pointed to where it was. I said I must be blind because I didn't see it. I said wow thanks and walked away. He didn't want to walk me over, it would have taken 30 seconds if he had. This customer experience is definitely a low standard for Walgreens! read more

I was blown away by the Take Care Clinic in Walgreens. I'd been skeptical of the store clinics, admittedly. But low-to-no health insurance me needed a tetanus booster, or otherwise no more grad school. The first thing that impressed me was the sign-in. Is it that clipboard over there? Nope, the touch screen computer in front of you. Type all your info in there and they're all set up with your info. I realize mid-day on a Wednesday may be a pretty easy time to just walk right up, but the nurse practitioner/PA was up front and greeted me and explained my options and her recommendations as soon as I was signed in. In the exam room, she was super friendly and helpful...not to mention good! Really quick shot, all the proper paperwork on a convenient card and printout, and I was on my way. Definitely cheaper than what I would have paid to go to a doctor just for a silly booster shot. I did pick up a few things in the drugstore too. Standard Walgreens, pretty decent. I'd recommend the Take Care Clinic to anyone, and I'll be back myself. An apple a day says not too soon though. read more

I came here because of the location, unfortunately this Walgreens like many of the other ones is located in a congested area, which makes it impossible to find legal parking. Luckily it is a 24 hour location but the pharmacy that is a nice size. In addition, there is a Zen departments in the store where they have services and you can purchase vitamins and homeopathic. Unfortunately, the same vitamins that I purchased at Whole Foods or the Vitamin Shop are priced higher at Walgreens. Walgreens has insurance that can be purchased for prescriptions it's great if your insurance company does not cover medication this one will in most cases. If you fill a prescription here my advice is to check it and recheck it to make sure that they have it in the store and that you get the correct prescription. I had a situation where they never called and told me that they did not get the prescription and I was going away the next morning. On that same day I saw them make a mistake with three other prescriptions it was on a Sunday and very difficult to get a hold of doctors to correct the mistakes. I was sent to a different location and told, that is the best I can do. For the most part the staff is very nice and tries to be very helpful. This Walgreens seems well-stocked and as long as you don't need a prescription, you can pick up items you forgot. They have a full-service Chase Bank ATM in the store that you can deposit in addition to withdrawing money , additionally there are two more ATMs for withdrawals. read more

I know, I know, you want to go to this take care clinic because it's the closest place to your home and or job. Take public transportation and go the loop or up north to Western & Howard. Last year, struggled to get an antibiotic for a sinus infection. Finally got them to write it when I told them if I saw progress the next two days I wouldn't start Taking them. But don't tell me it's just a cold when my ears are burning and it is lingering for two weeks. Who takes an antibiotic for the fun of it? They aren't skittles people, seriously, and common sense has taught us to never take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. This place acts like theyvare adderrals. They don't trust their patient base. Bad vibe from jump street. This year I show up to get a TB test and they tell me they are out of TB test kits and that they should have gotten a shipment by now. I waited 40 minutes to be told that even though I entered that's why I was there to begin with. Would have been nice to know up front instead of them waiting until my name came up. I can let that slide and had no intention of coming out of Yelp retirement for that, but then they print out the closest location with a Take care north of here, and they printout driving directions from Witchita Kansas to 7410 N. Clark. I hope they do medicine here better than they do the Internet. This staff is inept. Hire DePaul interns to take over the whole joint. They would do much better. And of course when I get to their printout recommended locale after a long drive from "Kansas," I am told they aren't a Take Care facility. And that is why you are reading this now. Walgreens is fine, but do NOT do TCC here under any circumstance. They are awful. You've been warned, no matter how convenient the location, you will be nothing but inconvenienced when it is all said and done. Take this review seriously, thank me later. read more

Unless you are dealing with the pharmacy, the front end of the store is winning the race as the slowest and saddest humans alive. Whatever happened to service with a smile? Hey I know you aren't getting paid 20 bucks an hour to be here, but at least give 4/5 of a shit that I asked how your day is going and be thankful you have a job in this economy (thanks Obama). I used to work retail too, we've all been there. For now, this will be my go to snack, beer, and deodorant stop until Treasure Island up the street stops thinking it can charge the King's ransom for every item it sells. read more

The Take Care Clinic gets 5 stars from me. I was suffering from an ear ache, and the doctor I usually see was not in her office, so I went to the Take Care Clinic based on other Yelp reviews. It is a very quick and efficient way to get care for minor ailments and injuries. The check in process was super simple, I just used the touch screen computer to enter in my basic information and then I sat down and waited. After 5 minutes I was seen by the assistant who took my insurance information and checked my temperature and blood pressure. Then I was sent back out to wait for the nurse. After another 5 minutes Denise the nurse was ready to see me. She was very warm and friendly. She answered all my questions and gave me a treatment plan. I highly recommend this clinic. The total time I was there was about 30 minutes - it is significantly faster than other urgent care clinics I have been to in Chicago. They are also a great place to go to booster shots, flu shots, and physicals. Obviously another major plus is that the pharmacy is right there - so you don't have to make a separate trip to a pharmacy after seeing a doctor. They did accept my insurance. Another review of the Take Care Clinic. After feeling awful for almost a week, I tried to get in to see my husband's doctor (I'd never seen him before) because I was feeling pretty desperate. Unfortunately, he wasn't taking any more new patients that week, so I went to the Walgreens near my apartment to ask the pharmacist for some advice. She told me to head straight to the Take Care Clinic, so that's pretty much what I did (okay, I went home and got my husband up first, but close enough). I'm really glad I listened to her. I'd had a cough, sore throat, dry mouth, fluid behind my ear drums, and was dehydrated for 6 days. The day we went I was also experiencing a twinge of the flu (thankfully that quickly ended) including hot & cold flashes, mild nausea, acid burps, shortness of breath, and I wasn't sleeping (it'd been almost 24hrs when I went in). Within 5 minutes of arriving, I was explaining all that to the PA who wrote everything in the computer. She told me the nurse would be with me shortly, and we went back outside to wait. She was pretty accurate, surprisingly, and we only waited about 10 minutes before the APN (Advanced Practicing Nurse, a higher degree than you'd normally see) was able to see me. I met with Susan Kurtenbach, who was really nice. She listened to me list my symptoms yet again, and explain about my IBS. She looked me over, did a couple of tests, and made a treatment plan. She gave me a list of recommended OTC stuff to help me as well as prescribed me an inhaler for the bronchospasms (shortness of breath was the issue) as well as flonase. She even had a few recommendations for treating my IBS. All of this was printed out for me in a very helpful treatment plan. I walked out of there with a bunch of helpful things as well as a humidifier, which my dad had been after me to get for ages anyway. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. I really liked the APN I saw, she was really helpful. I highly recommend the Take Care Clinic. I would not hesitate to go again if I couldn't get in to see my regular doc. Two days later and I'm feeling much better, though still pretty tired, but I'm very glad I went. read more

I love Walgreens Take Care Clinics. They are convenient, take my insurance and open 7 days a week unlike my general doctor. I have been to this TCC about 4 times and usually get in within 45 min and am out the door in about an hour. The nurses are usually friendly and listen to what I have to say. The sign-in procedure is quick and they do take credit cards. But on this past visit, I may think twice about going to this location. The computerized way of signing-in was not working, the credit card machines were not working, and they open at 8:30am, yet didn't see the first patient until 9am. I was the 2nd person in line and I didn't get seen until 9:30, a full hour and 15 min after I arrived. The nurse was friendly, but made me seem like I came in too early after my symptoms arrived (2 days before) and that my symptoms were that of a typical cold. I explained that I had horrible throat pain and my throat was swollen. This why I came in early to make sure I didn't have strep and because I was in pain so why would I wait another day or 2 to have it checked out! In a way she made me feel bad that I came in...not cool. An hour and 45 min later I was on my way out with a few helpful ideas about using OTC meds to help my pain. I do have to say they did help and even 12 hours later I felt about 50% better. I don't know...I'm on the fence with this one. To go or not to go back, that is the question. read more
