It amazes me the lack of communication skills this pharmacy department has ! They tell you after 1.5 hours to give them another 20 min to fill the two rx's then only to tell you later, they don't have the Meds in stock ...... seriously bad customer service. I never see the same face either, obviously a lot of turn around. read more

This Walgreens has always been amazing. I don't know w what's been going on since the beginning of the year at the pharmacy but they are severely ubderstaffed and overextended. There is always a line. read more

Dear Walgreens Corporate: We've given you prime corners all over the city. We allow you to come in, pay far higher rent than our local institutions can match, and watch as you summarily have them moved (Nighthawk Del Frisco most recently). Is it too much to ask that you ensure that your pharmacy employees show a little bit of pleasantness (just a little is fine - I understand being on your feet all day and client slog isn't the bonanza that many pharmacists thought they'd get after spending a whole college degree learning how to have a computer warn you of drug interactions)? These people are so "over" their jobs, and so rude, and so distant from the customer experience, that it's easy for me to believe that people would find other pharmacies to fill their prescriptions than have to work with such a dour group of people. I can't blame the clerks as much as I can the store managers - don't you folks secret shop your customer experiences? Do you think that you can get away with zero customer service for ever? Maybe you can after seeing the markups you get on prescription drugs. I just wish you'd at least slow down on your homogenization of my community; or at the bare minimum - properly train your staff to fake a smile every once in a while. Your friend and prescription drug-addled client, Robert read more

Welcome to the 78704 Walgreens! Where the high prices and general shittiness you've come to expect from every Walgreens are taken to mind-blowing new levels of ineptitude. See the creepy Marty Feldman-looking guy working the register? He always makes weird and inappropriate comments to my wife when she's unfortunate enough to come when he's working. What the hell? See the disheveled old guy acting put out by the customer asking if they have a heating pad she saw at another store? "All Walgreens stores carry different items, ma'am, and we don't carry that." Then brusquely walking away. Thanks, asshole! See the prices? Gas station selection and everything costs about 3 times what it should. What's that about? And over there we have the pharmacy. The real gem. The pride and joy of this hellhole. I've been to have prescriptions filled three times. The first two times they did the same thing. They called me to the counter, told me to "have a seat over there and we'll call you up in a minute." Both times I sat there for about 45 minutes before going back up to the counter and being told that no one had any record of my having been there, so no one had started on my order. Today was the third and final time I tried to get a script filled there. Waited about an hour, then was told they wouldn't be able to fill it. "Can you come back at 5 today?" Ok. Wish you could have told me that an hour ago, but whatever. Just to be safe, I came back at 6 and was told I couldn't fill my prescription for another month. Their records show that it was filled earlier today. And they can't give me "another" one. After telling them I never got my prescription filled, that I was told to come back at 5 for it, they said they would make some calls and try to figure it out. So after two trips and two hours I still don't have my medicine. See them promise to call me tomorrow so I can come for the third trip to get this fucking script? I won't be holding my breath. I'm 100 percent sure they won't call, that I'll go up there, and something will be lost and I'll be told to "come back later." Fucking idiots. Oh--and no one could tell me how much it's going to cost, either. What a joke. This place needs to be burned to the ground. The old Maria's Taco Xpress was a much better use of this space. Oh, and check out the parking lot. Every single parking space is marked "No Parking--Fire Lane." Fucking weird, man. read more

Well, it is just a Walgreens. A corporate box entity (why must they build all such consumer culture monoliths without even a single window?!) adorned with headache-inducing fluorescent lights. The unapologetic smirking giant that has put mom and pop pharmacists in the poorhouse. But on the bright side, this particular Walgreens is right next to a gigantic statue of a clean-shaven big-breasted Latina Jesus (trust me, long story). The point is, folks, when you are out wandering the shiny streets of Austin and you decide that at two o'clock in the morning you really need grapefruit juice, Walgreens is there. When your cohort needs hair dye to look presentable for job interviews the following day, and she needs to get it at 11 P.M., Walgreens is there. This Walgreens is open 24 hours. You, too, can browse depressingly cliched Hallmark cards at any hour that you please. "Say yes to carrots!" the sign blazes, shameless in its salute to beta carotene. A word of caution, though: to the pleasantly inebriated, that chime that sounds upon entering sounds like the hounds of Hades. read more

People are so damn friendly in Austin compared to where i live. I know the walgrens folks in my hood dont say hi when i walk in. Im not sure i want to talk to the folks in my local. Travel supplies for the hotel and sunscreen for being outside. The cashier also tried to convince me it was a good time to flu shot up! Never seen a total stranger concerned with my health like that. 3.5 stars read more

This pharmacy is the worst! I try to call in a prescription and one ever answers, regardless of what time it is. Sometimes I wonder whether it's even going to the right phone number, so I double-check, and it is. Also, they take around 20 minutes to fill a prescription on the spot while other places only take about 10 minutes. I always think about switching but this location is just too convenient. read more

Pharmacy staff is amazing!! I have witnessed so many of them be screamed and yelled at for problems outside of their control (like insurance problems), and this staff just takes it with a smile on their face while doing everything they can to make the customer happy again. They greet me by name every time I walk up, even if they're busy, I never feel ignored!! Plus, I can always ask for advice which saves me a trip to the doctor. When my prescription was too expensive, they told me about a coupon which saves me $15 a month now :) The store is always clean which is such a relief from other retailers like this who tend to have boxes or empty shelfs everywhere. It can be annoying, but it's nice to constantly hear 'Welcome to Walgreens' so I know that I'm not being ignored. This store gets a big thumbs up from me! They're always so busy, but always have time to help me :) read more

Jaye. Middle initial P. The P? It stands for prescription. Welcome to my world. I probably spend more time at Walgreen's than I do on my couch. And trust me, I love my couch. This Walgreen's used to be located in the same strip mall as Curves and Dog Almighty, but it has since relocated to the corner of Bluebonnet and S. Lamar, complete with drive-through. Ohhhhhhhh how I wish that drive-through existed last summer when I really was there at least once a week, sometimes more. Now I'm there about twice a month (more in the wake of an ice storm), and I'm grateful for the drive-through, and the small grocery selection. And the fact that I can pre-order my refills on the interwebs and pick them up as soon as an hour or as much as a week later. An added bonus is that pretty much anything I buy there is paid for with my Consumer Health Care account MasterCard. And the pharmicist? His full name is the male version of my full name. And we're both of the same ethnicity. How cool is that? Walgreen's...I think I love you. read more

One more update for the amazing staff at Walgreens. I lost my wallet yesterday, and was pretty sure it was lost in the store. I called and came by a couple of times afterwards...spoke w Jason in the pharmacy, the manager Travis and one of the staff named Gabby. They were all great and VERY helpful. But today, Gabby called me on my cell phone and told me that someone turned it in and it was in their safe, cash/credit cards and all. THANK YOU GABBY you saved my day!! read more

Pros- It's clean and well lit as opposed to some CVS stores Cons - They can be understaffed at times which can be annoying. This is one of the better Walgreens I've been too. So while it's not the best one, it's definitely not the worst one. read more

It's not the pharmacist's fault that the company consistently understaffs this pharmacy, even during peak hours and seasons. During rush hour when the flu was really hitting Austin, there was only one pharmacist on staff. The pharmacists are doing the best with what circumstances are provided by their employer. Walgreens, y'all should really consider hiring more pharmacists. The CDC has allllll the information you need to tell you that you are severely understaffed for the flu season. read more

This is seriously becoming one of my one stop shops....I have been to the new CVS...yet I keep coming back here. Cheapest milk, bread, and cigarettes in town. They have also started selling beer and they have a very good selection(including local brews) with prices that are better than specs. From baby wipes to zippo flints, this is where I go. There are always some killer deals on something you need and if you know what's what about the coupon game...this is Mecca. Although they tend to be a little understaffed at times...I still go and the staff that is on hand is jovial and always happy to help. Be nice to Heath who works here. He is doing the best he can. P.S. If you know anybody who is in Suboxone or Subutex therapy (opiate/heroin addicts). This is the cheapest place in town for those meds. read more

Typical Walgreens. What else do I need to say? Came in for some quick fix candy and walked out, no issues.

Pretty solid Walgreens location. The inside is large and has a great selection and friendly staff. The pharmacy lines, both inside and in the drive through can be slow but the staff do a great job of eliminating lag times on their end. The pharmacy techs are knowledgeable and the pharmacist who gave me my flu shot was super nice! Parking is ample, but it is a paaaaiiin to make a left turn to get into the parking lot from Lamar or vice versa. After 9000 times, I learned to go out the backway onto the side road and wait at the light. There's my pro-tip for ya. read more

I've had a turbulent relationship with this particular Walgreens. Staff is incompetent, the store itself is out of place on South Lamar, and their photo department is pure shite. It's convenient for me, so I used to stop here all the time for regular drugstore stuff. They're cheaper than Peoples Pharmacy, and they always have a decent selection of that stuff that most folks buy at big box stores. Today I decided to give their photo department a second chance (previously they had not even so much as an apology for missing their 1-hour promise for photo developing). I'd noticed that they were running a special on cheap prints ordered online, so I uploaded a few hundred digital photos to their site. Only to find that there was no easy way to figure out how to order matte prints in the digital 4x5.3 size for pickup. I called the store and spoke to the photo dept. guy... no success, so after 15 minutes he referred me to their 866 number. Another 10 minutes, and the resolution: I can't do what I want to do at Walgreens. Way to waste my time. I knew pharmacy students who felt good about working at Walgreens in their homeland (chain is based in Chicago), and I've felt that if one must shop at a chain store it's one of the better ones. I've stopped at the South Lamar Walgreens since it was built - remember that controversy? There was a perfectly good (albeit a bit more ghetto) Walgreens just down the road, but company philosophy seems to be to replace strip mall outlets with free-standing stores, even in Independent Business Districts. There is a silver lining to this story - the good 'ol Lamar Plaza Drug Store next to the South Lamar Alamo is under new management, and they suddenly have great stock and excellent service! I'll be spending my $$ locally :-) read more

Walgreens is so convenient. It's close by and it saves me from going to the grocery store, the makeup store, the liquor store, and the pharmacy. Why? Because everything I need is at my local Walgreens. Was feelin' a little sick. You know how it goes. The sniffles, the coughing, the desire for some expectorant magic. It was about, oh, let's say midnight (it was closer to 12:13). I looked up the store to make sure it was a 24-hour store. It was. I drove, and I drove, and I drove. Luckily I only live about a half mile away, so it was pretty convenient. I found the expectorants in the cough/cold aisle, as expected. Their selection was pretty good, as far as medicine goes. Makes sense, right? Anyway, I realized I had been standing in front of the expectorants for about 2 minutes, and I should make a choice. I chose the walgreens brand. It was cheaper. On the way out, I noticed there were cadbury creme eggs. I grabbed a couple, one for me, one for the wife. The cashier saw me walking up, and she quipped, "Looks like the perfect remedy!" She was right. read more

Always a nice experience coming in here. The location is PRIME by my house... so if I forget anything last minute I can pop in here and head on home. The pharmacy is my only complaint here. They are robots! I've had a number of conflicts with them and they are devoid of any personality, concern or accountability. Quick story : Yesterday they wouldn't honor a refill on a pain med prescription my doctor called in on account of the same medication being filled the day before (I'd only gotten enough for 24 hours). Controlled substance and all that, blah blah. Meanwhile my infected root canal feels like a knife in my jaw. So I got the auto-email notification that my script was ready after the 24 hour grace period. When I got there they indicated that they didn't have some "info" on the doctor they needed. They said they'd just call me when it was really ready. I mean they didn't even offer to resolve the issue then and there. No accountability. Two trips to the pharmacy, and 36 hours later I still haven't got the medication I need. WTF? They could have simply called and said I couldn't fill a script that my doc just called in until tomorrow as soon as they got the order. They could have also resolved this "missing" info issue then and there too. I think they're either lazy or overworked. Either of which makes this pharmacy a bad experience every time I go. Additionally it's important to point out that the pharmacists have absolutely no idea how script coverage works, which is super frustrating when they punch something into a computer and regurgitate something back like "your prescription coverage won't pay for this" after filling the prescription and taking your credit card. Seriously. They simply arent equipped to help outside the scope of putting pills in a bottle. I guess that's how it is when you go to a chain. read more

I honestly don't shop a lot here... mostly I make large contributions to the drug corporations here on a quarterly basis. The staff have always been friendly towards me, the store is pretty clean looking. I like to peruse the seasonal aisle, especially around Halloween. I really like the customer service here.I have used this store many times and I have good reason.A wiser man then myself once said first impressions last well I'll never forget the first time I used walgreens this is my story.my beautiful wife and I were making our way home from a funeral we attended of a neighbor of ours who was a former fireman.ill never forget how sad we felt that day until we dropped by Walgreens.upon entry we heard this sweet voice from behind the counter welcoming us"welcome to walgreens 78704" it was like music to our ears,he's tone had an instant soothing effect kinda like that you would hear the first rooster roosting he's cock a doddles in the morning or the sound of a melodious wind chime on the calmest day. We finally got all our items and went to the gentleman on checkout who greeted us as we entered,he was so well spoken like a narrator out of a blockbuster Hollywood movie.he told us about the savings we made with the coupons and I remember he checked our eggs by opening the box and fingering every eggs too see was it worthy enough to leave the store.i never caught he's name but I got a photo or 2 of him that I will add.on our way out after absolutely fantastic service he's final farewell stuck in my head "be well". The shocking and completely unprofessional behavior from the pharmacy manager working Sunday, August 25th, 2019 has prompted me to post my first Yelp review. I came in for a vaccination and was told by the pharmacist that I would need to wait 45 minutes and then I could be seen by the doctor. After patiently waiting for an hour and 10 minutes, I asked for an update on when the vaccine would be prepared. The pharmacist then tersely responded that because I stepped out of line and didn't fill out the proper paperwork, the wait would be another hour. She refused to recognize that the situation was due to her own ineptitude and would not put me in front of prescriptions she was filling for the next day. She did not check me in, she did not give me any paperwork to fill out. All she said was to wait next to the pharmacy and someone with be with me in 45 minutes. I've never been treated like this from anyone in customer service in my entire life and to say the pharmacist was rude and off-putting would be an understatement. As I scroll through a multitude of negative Yelp reviews about the pharmacy from other customers, I can at least take a little comfort in that I was not the only person treated in this manner. After refusing to wait another hour for the vaccine, I called the Walgreens located at Bee Caves and Westbank Drive and was able to get the shot in less than 5 minutes... WALGREENS: This type of behavior is unacceptable and needs to be addressed immediately. read more
