I really have to give a shout out to the pharmacy folks at this location of Walgreens. They are always pleasant no matter how busy they are, they have always gone out of their way to make sure my meds are filled properly and on time and are covered by my insurance (when they aren't they have actually been kind enough to call and warn me so I can get in touch with my doctor to get a different medication that's covered or figure out a better way to pay for it!) They even have convenient drive thru option for picking up and now even home delivery for meds that comes within a few days time. If I order my refills enough days in advance I usually do not even need to go pick them up anymore. Couldn't get easier than that! After spending the entire day at the hospital with my dad during and after his surgery, we assumed picking up his pain medication on the way home would be straightforward. In fairness, the doctor did not send the prescription until the last minute. When we first arrived, a very kind employee informed us that the prescription would be ready in about 20 minutes. Given the late prescription, I thought that was completely reasonable. Since we live about 20 minutes out of town, I decided to take my dad home and return later. When I came back, another employee--also very kind--told me the prescription would not be ready until 9:00 PM because of an audit. While that was disappointing, I understood that unexpected issues arise and was happy to return at 9:00, knowing my dad would have his medication in time for his next dose. However, when I returned at 9:15 PM, a different employee informed me that the prescription would not be filled until midnight, again citing the audit. When I explained that this was my third trip to the pharmacy that evening and that I had been told it would be ready by 9:00 PM, his response was, "I am telling you the correct information!" I consider myself a very understanding and patient person, and I recognize that delays and unforeseen circumstances can happen. What is unacceptable, however, is being given conflicting information throughout the evening and being spoken to dismissively when expressing a legitimate concern. Most importantly, this delay involved post-surgical pain medication for a patient who was relying on it for relief and recovery. I understand that audits and operational issues are sometimes unavoidable, but clearer communication, accurate expectations, and a more professional response would have made this situation far less frustrating. read more

I went in this morning to buy some hydrocortisone ointment. I found out later in the day not to use it as I intended (mild scratches on skin). So, I returned it (unopened), and when I went to exchange it for calamine lotion (which was less expensive), I was told I owed them more money because they do not refund the same amount of money that was initially paid. I paid $7.99, and they only gave me $5.99 for it. I won't be buying anything from them ever again. That is totally ridiculous and should be illegal. This is the worst Walgreens I have ever been to. I understand that the pharmacy has a lot of orders to complete, but maybe it's time to increase the amount of efficient and trained staff at this location to accommodate the heavy workload. Every time I come here the pharmacists are scrambling trying to complete orders and the process ends up taking them longer than it needs to. Some of the staff are also slow to complete a task, not sure why. The evening staff gets even worse when they delay my pickup by asking inessential questions and look at me like a I'm a drug dealer when I pick up my grandmothers prescriptions. It's not my fault grandma is addicted to percs & xannies. I'd appreciate less judgement and more customer service when I pick up her orders. read more

I recently wrote a review and said I was really close to looking for another pharmacy. I could not find a way to just Post an update on that review, so I'm having to Post a whole separate review, but I have had lots of experiences with them. So I guess it's still counts and is fair That I can leave more than one review of how HORRIBLE they are. Well, today was the last straw. I can't even go into all the stories because there are too many. Seriously, every exchange I have with them is a HORRIBLE, frustrating experience. Difficult, I am often misinformed, or they tell me stuff like they can't give me a price for my medication.I'm like, are you fuc*ing kidding me?!? What is wrong with you???? You can't give people a price on their medication??????? I know other pharmacies can and have given me pricing on my medication. That's like almost the number one thing that 99% of people want to know. That is not right at all for a pharmacy!!!!! They are seriously the absolute worst pharmacy I've ever worked with in my entire life. Just in this one day of 2 phone calls and speaking to 4 people that took 45 minutes of my life, And only one of the 4 people I spoke to was kind and helpful. The rest were horrible, one lady Even HUNG UP ON ME...... LIKE, INTENTIONALLY. When I told the really nice lady I spoke to at the end, I asked if there was an email I could just let somebody know about my negative experience with that one twat hanging up on me on purpose, and she said, let me transfer you to my supervisor........ and it went to a robotic survey. ‍ Seriously, these guys cannot do anything right. WORST. PHARMACY. EVER. I'm switching pharmacies.I'm going to make phone calls right now. If you want to have them, screw up your prescriptions, hound you to an obnoxious extent when you actually do get your prescriptions filled, And if you have to call and ask a question, you're going to have to give your information at least twice, sometimes 3 or 4 times and talk to probably a few crabby people. They can't manage inventory. In 18 months they've short filled my prescription four times. They tell me it's because my medication is highly constrained, but now that they know I want my medication it's no problem to get it ordered and delivered in the next one to two days. That doesn't make any sense to me. Also they get my prescription on one day and let me know won't be ready for two or three days, and then I show up when it is ready and then they are shocked to find out that they don't have it and that I was coming in. Then we start the whole " your medication is very constrained but the good news is it's very easy to get so just wait a couple days" conversation. read more

Echoing what many others have said, this is a horrible pharmacy. Ended up here due to Rite Aid's closure and it's been mediocre at its absolute best. Sr. Pharm Tech excused their lies and lack of communication as being a high volume pharmacy. I get they are busy and I have tried to be nothing but patient, but after talking to a bunch of people, I am still here without my prescription two weeks later. This is my first visit to Walgreens and it could not have gone better. I had to switch a prescription from CVS (unable to get the med) and I called yesterday & spoke to Kim. She was tremendously helpful and called the CVS to get it transferred. In less than24 hours I had a text telling me it was ready for pickup. When I stopped today, the pharmacist checked my insurance & it was not covered, so he (Adam) recommended GoodRX. I downloaded the app, and it saved me $90!! Who else is this helpful? I have been using Walgreens since the day it opened its doors. I have been very happy with it until they hired Jake. He tells me my prescriptions will be ready the next day. I go in the next day Saturday and the person at the pharmacy in the morning says I have to contact my doctor for the blood thinners. Are you kidding me when I was there Friday afternoon I could have called the doctor then, but he didn't tell me! Pharmacy not open 24 hrs for drive up and willplay games with prescription and notice. I tried day one to pick up a prescrition ... not ready. Thereaft no call text or email that the prescription was ready was provided. When I tried a week later the prescription had been sent back but I was told to come back a third time and of course the prescription was ready and paid for but the Pharmacy drive up was closed. The pharmacy was open but the pharmacy staff closed the drive through around 8 pm just after 10 cars went through. I pulled around and pharmacy staff put signs in the window closed. I called and the pharmacy staff had the nerve to altell me she had customers like paid for drive up customers are not customers only walk ins are. I responded my prescription is already paid for and I wait just like walk ins. The pharmacy staff agreed but still wouldn't give me my prescription at the drive through. In other words drive through are not customers when pharmacy staff decides that despite already paid in full. One pharmacy staff was really flip about my former Texas address (how she got it rather than asking my current address was even more bizarre) so a complaint has been filed to get some answers on who did each act. Differentlu I also did a curb side order. The staff waited at least an hour to claim it was ready just after 9 pm when curb side ends at 9 pm. read more

I called to make sure my prescription would be ready the day before I planned to pick it up. The pharmacy employee assured me it would be available for pick up by 11 am the following day. When I went to pick up my prescription at 3:30 the following day, my prescription wasn't ready. The guy at the drive up was extremely rude. He said my prescription was filled and ready for pick up at the Walgreens in Modesto! It was clearly a computer error on their part. I understand mistakes happen but rude behavior and snarky tone of voice in an already frustrating situation is never acceptable. I had my prescription transferred to another pharmacy and picked it up in less than 30 minutes after it was transferred. I'd give this pharmacy zero stars if I could. read more

The pharmacy here is having some serious issues. They pressure you into setting up auto-renewal, followed by multiple calls and texts once filled. Then you show up to their location to pick up the refills and 80% of the time their lobby is closed, forcing you to use the drive thru (which is backed up 4 cars deep on two sides much of the time). I came this morning at 6:30 a.m. thinking it would go faster. Lobby was closed YET AGAIN, so off to the drive through I go. I waited 20 minutes for them to deal with the ONE person ahead of me!!! This has really motivated me to seek to switch my prescriptions to another pharmacy. I've switched to Rite Aid pharmacy for my prescriptions because Walgreens in Atascadero is too unreliable. Today I made my THIRD trip to Walgreens, a 45-minute drive from my house in Cayucos, to pick up a very common prescription. Twice before I was told to come back at a later date. Yesterday I called in advance and was told I could pick up the prescription after 9 a.m. today. When I showed up at the drive-in window, a rather smug, impertinent druggist named Caitlin informed me that she had nothing for me, period. Only after I explained that I had called yesterday did Caitlin grudgingly say that I had a prescription waiting for pick-up but that she would not release it for me until tomorrow. She declared that what I was told yesterday must have been a "miscommunication." I explained that I was elderly (self-evident I should think) and that the long drive from my home was burdensome. Could she please release the prescription today? Caitlin rudely told me to come back another day if I wanted the prescription, period. I called my doctor and she told me that I was eligible to renew the prescription nine days ago. So, she sent the prescription to Rite Aid, where I had no trouble getting it renewed. Today is my absolute last straw. I have been having way too much patience and way too much grace for this pharmacy. They told me my prescription won't be ready today. I called. They told me today's date then when I called this morning that was last week by the way, then I called this morning. They said oh yeah it'll be ready. I said I'll be there at 10 AM on my lunch break. No problem. I get there at 10 AM. Oh no it won't be ready till tomorrow. I go back to work as I'm at work. I get a notification on my phone. Your prescription is ready. I go back. The pharmacist says I can't give it to you because you don't have your ID mind you third time I've went to go pick this up Last two times I have an ID. I told her I have a photo of my ID on my telephone nope doesn't work. I have my state issued work badge with my name and photo. Nope doesn't work ridiculous she was rude condescending unprofessional. First the pharmacy said they didnt have my post op pain meds (they did) . 5 days later I call yet again after the SURGEON called. NASTY woman told me it wasnt her job to find my scrips from my doc. That the doc needed to do their job. I told her the doc had proof in system it was sent on Friday - 4 days ago and had called this am and confirmed they had it. She got all pissy then put me on hold and then hung up the call. Hows that for SERVICE. Called back and this NICE lady helped me found the scrip, merged the two accounts that somehow got created since medicare has my middle name and i use my first (no clue how that happened). She assured me it was there, my files were correct and the credit ards etc for payment were all set. I send a friend down to get it. She calls and the NASTY woman is at the drive thru. Saying I dont have a card and she cant take one over the phone so I have to COME TO WALGREENS. Which I cant cause Im down with massive pain post hip. I explain to her what we had done on Monday in my accounts - she claims Im lying. Says they never do that. I ask her to get a manager and she slaps me on hold and suddenly - my friend calls and says she has the meds and the files for my account were correct afterall. This Walgreens staff has gone above and beyond for me this year. It's the best place we've found for immunizations and prescriptions filled of course, but the other departments are awesome as well. Th he photo department orders are filled quickly and they offered many suggestions when I was having trouble making my order of poster prints. I often go into the pharmacy three or four times a month for my meds. This last week I've gone in twice, the first time the lady at the counter, mid length curly hair mid thirties early forties, practically threw my meds at me, I didn't have a chance to put my change back in my purse and then today I went to urgent care due to not having a voicemail and some other complications and they put three prescriptions in and I go in two hours later to get my meds. Same lady says she needs my id so I pull it out and then she doesn't take it but says that it'll be ready in twenty minutes and to just go to drive thru. She was rather rude about it too. So I go run some errands and come back, we give her the money through drive thru and she didnt seem too happy that we had asked her to repeat the total, sorry lady we couldn't hear you. We felt rushed once again. I love how she smiles at her customers but she could do better with her customer service. This makes me want to transfer elsewhere. I don't want to give one or zero stars because they are usually pretty fast and friendly. read more

-good luck with your "auto fills" they will never be filled on time and you will magically be removed from the auto fill list without notice. Happens to me at least 3 times a year. -staff for the most part seem like they hate their job, not super friendly. The main manager guy (young guy) has been there for years and I've not once seen him smile and always seems annoyed, surprised he's still there. -picking up your prescription is a nightmare if you're waiting in the drive thru line, has taken me up to an hour and a half. I go inside now, which usually still takes me 15-20 minutes with no one in line. Overall, their system is janky, no one likes their job and don't expect your prescription to be ready. *Forgot to mention, they always give me partial fills because they never have enough to do a full fill. Very confused how they advertise 24 hours. Then I show up and they are closed in the pharmacy. Weird. Told staffing shortages. No other Walgreens in the area so how do I get my prescription filled elsewhere? No recommendation from staff. Just that they will resume normal hours on Monday. Good luck if you need a medication. Definitely one of the sadder looking Walgreens. I'd like to hope that this store was in between shipments because the shelves looked like a post-apocalyptic event! Bare shelves for days, especially in the cosmetics section. The aisles that did have items were disorganized and boxes laid strewn across the floor with no employees in sight. Yikes!
