Farily large park - very clean and green but super dark at night - no lighting at all except for in the parking lot. late night this might be the perfect setting for some scary movie. Its so dark toward the back you can't see your hand in front of your face. Maybe we can have the The Blair Witch Project #2 filmed here. Great little walking path that goes around and a children's play area. People come here to walk their dogs as I think there are a bunch of apartments surrounding this place. When you don't have a back yard of your own there is not much choice. Parking lot is well lit and tons of spots. I counted a hand full of lights scattered throughout. Very clean and good pavement. This is such an affluent area I would have expected a little better lighting. Other than that if you live in the area a good recommendation. Don't come from afar. read more

GOATED court. Super wide. Great for basketball. But man the sun was rough, I got 3 shades darker. Bring sun screen! I saw a lot of people throwing frisbee disc things using the course so that's cool. A lot of dog walking, people chilling on the grass. Someone playing their Steamdeck in the car for 2+ hours. Just a chill vibe all around. read more

I found this park by accident while riding my bike along the Iron Horse Trail. The section of the park that backs up to the IHT is the Disc Golf Course. I noticed a park bench under a shady tree on par #3 and thought this would be a good place to take a break and eat my lunch. I talked to a group of dudes who were playing disc golf and they said they love the course. I book marked this park for future interest in playing disc golf. it looks like alot of fun! read more

A small park where a lot of local Walnut Creek residents go to flock and have their kids play. Features: ~ Jungle gym and swing set, with wood chips. ~ One full court basketball court. ~ One restroom location. ~ Lots of grass and trees for shade. ~ A few picnic tables. ~ One walkway all the way around, and connecting to Iron Horse Trail. ~ Two doggie bag stations. ~ Frisbee golf in the back area. ~ Parking lot for only about 18 cars. I don't mind this park, as its fairly clean. I usually come here just to walk my dog, or make my way out to Iron Horse Trail. I guess the only real complaint I hear is the frisbee park opening up. They don't make frisbees soft and flimsy anymore, so HEADS UP!!! read more

Nothing too special about this park, but it's convenient. It's a pretty small space so it's really nice when it's empty. They have a small basketball court, a "court" for wall-ball, a small play structure, a few small to medium grassy areas, then the entire back half of the park is for frisbee golfers. Being a dog mom, I wouldn't recommend this place to be a great park to bring dogs off leash. Too many little kids around the playground (you know the Walnut Creek parents wouldn't be having it if your dog got within ten feet of their kid haha), grassy areas aren't big enough for dogs to roam freely, and the frisbee golfers are usually not very friendly towards curious dogs interrupting their games. Not to mention it's on a pretty busy street with cars whizzing by. If you were to bring your dog on a walk or run through the park on the small trail that leads from the Iron Horse Trail (which is usually what I do) it's fine, but other than that, there are definitely better and more welcoming and dog friendly places to bring your furry friends. Now if you have small children, need a place to shoot hoops, or want to play frisbee, this is the place for you to come when you're bored and have nothing else to do. There's no real unique attraction here besides the frisbee course. Overall, it's a small, typically clean park that's in a convenient space. It's good for what it is, but unfortunately it's not meant to be a park for pups. read more

Closest park to my house, so we come here a lot. I really like the layout of this park as things are separate and not mashed together. Basketball court is quite a distance from the playground, which I think is great for the ballers and moms of tots. Bathrooms are generally clean and stocked. Lots of grassy area for picnics. In the way back there is a Frisbee-Golf course that has been carved out of the weedy area. I dislike that it crosses over the path that leads to the canal trail as you are always "in the way" of the golfers. :( All in all a decent park. read more

Tiny, little park that my mom told me about. If she hadn't, I would have continued to drive by and not even notice it!!! It's that small : ) Then one day, while walking on the Iron Horse Trail, I realized that I could access the park not only from Oak Road, but from the trail itself. It appears to be more of a neighborhood park, as the play structure is only interesting for the tiny tots, but the grassy area is more appealing to the adults and teens. I've stopped by every once in a while, but I haven't gone out of my way since there are bigger parks in the area. read more

Used to love this park. Good for kids, walking the dog, and right on the Iron Horse Trail. Until they put in the frisbee golf course. Due to the city's idiotic idea to put the golf course right in the middle of this rather small park, now kids and adults are in constant danger of getting beaned with flying discs. Visited the park after sunset. Strange group in the park tonight. Big guy in a dress with 2 short guys wearing skirts and riding trikes. This is a happening place where the blue hair generation come to get their freak on! Bring candy to feed the short guys on trikes. They get pissed when they are hungry. I will venture here during the day to see what creatures lurk in the daylight. read more

Sad to see all the hate on here about this park, that back lot wasnt doing much, now its a fun frisbee golf course that adds diversity to the area and lets those of us who like a little challenge try our hand at frisbee golf. The course is pretty removed from the kids playground and was clearly designed to minimize the impact to that part of the park and the basket ball court area. I think its a great addition, and Its always in use so obviously its making good use of the public space. there are plenty of other parks to go to if you hate frisbees so much. read more

This is a really nice park. Was here yesterday around 2:00PM and it was completely empty. There were just a couple of people laying on the grass in the shade and about 5 people at a picnic table having a birthday party. There was absolutely no one at the playground. They have a basketball court, playground, picnic tables, barbecues, open grassy area, restrooms, and it connects to the Iron Horse Trail. It's only open from dawn to dusk. I like the open grassy area. The playground is a bit lame. It was way too sunny and hot to play on the playground at the time we were there. Only the sand playing area was in the shade. The kid wanted to play on the swings and slides the whole time, but those were in direct sunlight. Not that he didn't get to play on them, but it was definitely limited. It'd be a nice place to have a picnic on a sunny day at one of the tables under the shade of a tree! read more

Updating to say we have stopped coming since the frisbee golf course was put in. Besides being right next door to where we enjoyed kicking a soccer ball around, the course is built so that frisbees go flying right over (hopefully not in to) your head on the walking trail. Totally disappointed in the cities decision to put this here. It should be in a big open field, not in a heavily trafficked walking area next to a children's play ground structure. read more

What I Did - play basketball - play wall ball My Thoughts Walden Park is a great little park at the intersection of the Contra Costa Canal Trail and the Iron Horse Trail. It has (relatively) clean bathrooms, a water fountain, and small playground with swings for kids, picnic tables, a basketball court, and a great place to play wall ball. There isn't enough grass for a full game of soccer or football, but there are enough patches of grass to play catch. My wife and I have come to the park on a walk and I've played wall ball with her family before, but I mainly come to the park to play basketball on Saturdays. It's a small park, but it's very convenient to get to and it provides a good family atmosphere. read more

Small, but good for kids. Play area with sand and another with woops chips. There is a lot of grass to sit on too and the park area stretches back for a ways. The parking area is small, but you can park on the street nearby. You can also use the canal trail and walk or bike over. I was here for a mom's group play date and it is a regular spot fire them. read more

I used to live near this park and my son loved it. The playground is sand, thus fun to have shovels, etc. Families/kids there have always been nice. The drinking fountain is functioning and there are plenty of areas for parents to sit in the shade (while the kids play). Parking is limited for those who need to drive to the park....about 20ish parking spots (that has to be shared with all of the guys playing basketball after work.) read more

This is an amazing park, a great place to go to with people of many different ages and interests, there is a disk golf course, a basketball court and playground and lots of open grass good for playing many different games with family and friends! The Disk Golf court is brand new addition to the park that many people enjoy and the course itself is in great condition and is very spacious. The basketball court is fun, but a lot of the time on weekends it is occupied. The court is the official size (I think :-)!). Right now part of the playground (the toddlers area) is being remodeled but the swings and the other part is open for play. I live very close to this park and me and my family go to the park all the time (it is a good park for soccer and football!). read more

Fun park in Walnut Creek. Definitely much smaller than Larkey or Heather Farms which can actually be nice. Makes it easier to keep track of the kids! Overall a clean no frills park. read more

Come here as part of iron horse trail walk. It's small but big enough that my 3 , almost 4yo is entertained. It also has good walk way that my kids ride their bikes on. I have found the frisbee players always courteous and aware of kids around them. However I don't live next door to them- sorry to those that do:( read more

This is a great small family park where lots of toddlers and younger children can enjoy the park. It also has basketball and frisbee golf. Idk how the restrooms are because I have not used them, but I like to come here for picnics and see a lot of groups and moms here too! I have even made new friends! My only complaint would be the cyclists going throgh the park not paying attention. One ran into my son on their bike, luckily he wasn't badly injured or killed. He is 2 years old, ofc he did run straight into them, too. But that really isnt the parks fault. the grass is green and it has lots of trees for shade. read more

BIG fan of this park. I recently started playing Disc golf and its all due to this park. The new instillation of the course is a huge bonus for the city of Walnut Creek. I hope they consider opening other courses in the area. Like myself more and more people are staring to play the game. Just yesterday I saw 3 different families playing, all with young children. It's so fun to see them doing fun activities together. My family, loves this park because the kids can play at the park with mom or can come play a round with me on the course. Walnut Creek Parks does a great job at keeping the park clean and the disc golfers do a great job at keeping the course clean. Head down to the local sporting good store buy a disc for 10 bucks and go try it out. Seriously fun for the whole family. read more

We always enjoy hangin at this park. The playground is perfect size for children; so far I haven't seen it too crowded. Shade is not hard to find unlike many parks these days...which is my favorite part. I can sit in the shade while I watch my niece play and not get impatient due to the heat. read more
