Super kind and good service! Dry cleaning has gotten more expensive, but think that's not unique to this place.

These guys are horrible dry cleaners. I dropped off 5 dress shirts, 4 pants and a few of my wife's dresses. The first warning sign should have been when they asked me to sign a damage waver for my wife's dresses. They had black and white on them so they couldn't guarantee they would make it through the wash. Ok... what is the point of the professional cleaners if they can't wash an article like that (which is dry clean only)? In any case, my wife's dresses turned out OK, it was my normal clothes that they butchered. 4 out of the 5 shirts they cleaned and pressed were missing the collar stays when I got them back - awesome (this has never happened at other cleaners). Adding to that, the person who ironed them must have been drunk because they were wrinkled throughout (photos will be attached). As far as my pants, well, they too were pressed by someone who just did not care. They had double creases running down the legs and one pair (less than a month old) were given back to me with the button hanging on by a thread... it has since fallen off. ... my mind continues to be blown when I think about this place. I only went because they are close to my house... Looks like I'll be heading back to the cleaners near my office. Ohh, I almost forgot. Half of the shirts had my name stapled(!) to the tag with two staples. Nothing like trying to pry staples off your shirts while trying to head out the door in the morning. Gave WalLex a go after they had new management. Put thousands of dollars worth of Bespoke clothing (custom made from Florence Italy, etc) into a washer/dryer instead of dry cleaning. Have a note on file to set to "dry clean" only and asked for dry cleaning. Shirts were labeled as well. After ignoring clear instructions, shrunk shirts, destroyed fabric, etc. Person behind counter stated that the only difference between normal cleaning and dry cleaning was that dry cleaning is better at cleaning. This is not the case. My shirts were ruined. Tried multiple times to contact to file an insurance claim but was unreachable (likely due to shutdown). Now I'm out my entire work wardrobe. read more

This used to be my go-to cleaners when I lived in the area. Clothes always come back professionally done and their prices are on the lower end of what I've seen (especially when compared to what they charge out here in NYC!). In my 4 years bringing clothes to them, I've never had anything lost (knock on wood). I'm more of a food reviewer, but I feel compelled to do this since I miss this cleaners so much! (kinda like when you move away from your favorite barber/doctor/babysitter/etc) I first started coming here because the previous cleaners I used to go to used perc as the dry cleaning solvent and the smell used to give me the worst headaches ever. I can't remember what the owner of this place ("Sue") told me they used, but they swapped out their perc machines for the newer 'enviromentally friendly' non-toxic ones many years back... suffice to say I haven't ever had a problem with whatever they're using. One point of warning though for the men out there: If you don't want your name written in ink on the collar of your dress shirts (I guess this is their way of tracking them), you need to tell them AHEAD of time not to do so. I learned this the hard way when my GF brought in my clothes and they got stamped with HER name. Needless to say, I was temporarily unhappy until they did some voodoo magic and got rid of the ink. Speaking of which, whoever does the spot stain removing does a kick-ass job since stains that other dry cleaners couldn't take out were removed by them (ok, so I cheated every now and then and brought my clothes to a place like zoots... needless to say, that affair didn't last very long). Not sure what this says about the business, but I've had my share of celebrity sightings here - Paul Pierce among SEVERAL other celtics players (I guess it doesn't hurt that the Celtics training facility is down the road), Mike Barnicle, etc.. LOL. N.B. White Cleaner's on Moody St in Waltham is also run by the same husband-wife team ("Sue" at Wal-Lex and "Mr. Kim" over at White though I've seen both at the opposite stores). All the clothes get sent over to White where they have all the machines so it doesn't matter where you drop them off EXCEPT for getting clothes tailored (they have different on-site tailors). I've had tailor work done at Wal-Lex (just some hemming of pants and various repair work) but never at White. Also, you can get a quicker turnaround (1-2 hours faster) if you are in a super crunch and drop-off/pick-up directly at White versus at Wal-Lex. Phew... bet that was the most extensive review of a dry-cleaners you've ever read. read more

REVIEW FOR THEIR COBBLER They send their shoes out (so sometimes it can take a little time to get your shoes back) to a person in Newton who is awesome. My shoes look like new, great shining, new soles that fit in with the shoe. It was on the pricey size ($60-$70) and the place requires a small despot ($10) but I am always bringing my shoes here to get them fixed. It is not easy to find a good cobbler so this is a find. read more

I'm in the area for travel. Besides the cheap prices they do outstanding work. All my clothes were cleaned and perfectly pressed. Even stopped in today because I had a button snap off of my jacket. Since it was cold out staff insisted I wait for a few minutes and they would have it fixed. And I'd say 3 minutes later I was out the door. Absolutely deserve 5 stars. read more

VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED with my first and only visit to Wal-Lex Dry Cleaners. I dropped off a pair of jeans earlier this week in hopes they could remove a red wine stain that was less than a day old. They COULD NOT remove a simple red wine stain and charged $6.45 for the failed cleaning. It appeared to be many young kids working there and they looked like they were counting the minutes before they could get the heck out of there and go home. I would not trust these folks to clean any garment & I urge everyone to please take their business elsewhere if you actually want to remove tough stains from your garments. read more

The negative reviews confuse me- maybe those folks are expecting too much from their dry cleaners. I've been going here for a couple years and have not been disappointed once. In fact, they've been very accommodating in several situations, and have done a nice job with our clothing for cleaning and tailoring. read more

I go here for all my dry cleaning so I figured they could tailor pants for me and a wedding dress for my wife. A week before the wedding we get the garments back and they are hemmed WAY too high and the pants have been far far too tapered. I am completely screwed for a wedding now and need to get a new pair of pants. The woman had people coming in and out to pick up and drop off clothes so my suggestion is to have more than 1 person working so the tailor can focus on detail. I am absolutely furious. read more

They had my wedding gown for months and it was sitting in the store front of ANOTHER cleaners. My friends saw it and called to tell me it was in the window of White's on Moody Street. I had been told it would take 3 months to preserve, asked to have something removed before it was cleaned, requested it sooner and was told it was not possible because it was at "The Plant." When I went to Whites, where my dress was being displayed, it had not been touched and he offered to do it within the week. I requested to leave with the dress, he refused and told me he could only deliver it to Wal-Lex. I ended up walking out with my dress and will NEVER go back to Wal-Lex or White's on Moody Street!! read more

I've been going here for 2 yrs. Their prices are much lower than the Drycleaners in the mall a few blocks away. And although I ofyen have them mark the places on garments needing special care, they seem to do an ok job. read more

Wal-Lex is very expensive and having used them for 6 months now I'm going elsewhere. It is a comedy of errors, starting with shirts that were rock hard with starch. One shirt hard so much starch that I was unable to get a button into the button hole. On pricing, let's just say that we need a law in this country where prices on everything are posted on the wall like gas prices on the huge signs at the gas stations. Time to find a cleaner with fair pricing AND good work. read more

I dropped of six pair of dress pants and when I returned to pick them up, they couldn't find them. After a week I finally got five of the pants, but the sixth pair is still missing. Sue the manager told me another customer had my pants, he returned five but not the sixth. So, I asked can you call him and have him return the sixth pair, or call him pick up my pants. She wouldn't do either! She kept delaying and now left me a voice message on what brand of pants they were. Of course Ralph Lauren comfort fit navy dress pants, part of a two piece suit set, costing me $365.00 before custom tailoring. I still haven't gotten my pants back. This is a horrible experience, plus the language barrier and rudeness is something I have never experienced before by a business. I am considering filing a complaint at the Waltham Police office for theft. read more

I haven't written a ton of reviews but had to write this because I have finally found a dry cleaner I can trust. I'm always afraid of getting clothes back with something wrong, and being charged an arm and a leg. So for a while I was doing the "home dry cleaning" which I think just makes your clothes smell good, doesn't actually clean them. So I decided I needed to find a good dry cleaner, and started taking my clothes to Wal-Lex a few years ago, and never looked back. They can get out any stain without blemishing the clothes and really listen to me when I point out little stains that aren't obvious. The service is friendly and the price is right. I brought in 3 pairs of pants to be shortened. The owner (not the tailor) measured them. I asked her to measure both legs, as I have one leg that's shorter than the other. When I came back a week later to pick them up, only one pair had been shortened. The tailor was all in a tizzy, saying that there was a problem with the other two pairs. He asked ME what the problem was. I could only reply that the owner OBVIOUSLY didn't know how to measure and mark pants. I then had to wait another day to get the rest of my pants. He informed me that I should only bring pants in to be shortened when HE was there. To top it all off, I paid ~$13 per pair of pants for the hemming, which I think is far too pricey. I also had a blanket dry cleaned there previously, and it was ~$35. Far too expensive, with poor service, for me to go back. read more

New in the area and I went to Wal-Lex because it was close. I took four mens dress shirts and a pair of slacks there and they came out fine. I would say above average (some dry cleaners hang their shirts in a way the leaves creases--these didn't). I'm going back. read more

I needed a cocktail dress cleaned in a day... was able to drop it off Friday morning and pick it up Saturday afternoon. They have convenient hours (open at 7 am so I could go before work), and they got out some small spots that were on the dress. I don't have too many things dry cleaned, but I'd go back! read more

My husband dropped off a shirt and a suit here last week for the first time. When I went to pick up the three items on the day indicated that it would be ready-- the suit was nowhere to be found. After about 20 minutes of watching the owner search for the shirt-- she told me she thought she knew where it was but that I needed to leave in order for her to find it. I calmly told her that it was unacceptable and that I needed to know her plan-- as we needed the shirt for the following day for a wedding we were attending out of town. She explained that she would find it-- and all me. Leaving with very little confidence, I received a call about 20 minutes later saying that she thought she knew who had it--- but the person wasn't answering her phone. After hours of back and forth-- I received a call saying the shirt had been found and that I could pick up the following morning. I arrived at 7:30 am and was completely shocked to find out that she was expecting me to pay for both the shirt and the suit-- and never offered a simple apology. I understand that people make mistakes-- but there should have been some sort of service recovery. I was so fed up with the situation that I just wanted to get out of there and paid the full amount. I got the impression that she felt bad she lost it--because she would have had to pay for it, not for inconveniencing me or my husband. I also find it sketchy that it was shirt worth around $200 (Thomas Pink) that went missing... Needless to say, we will not be going back. read more

This is probably the WORST dry cleaner and business, in general, that I have ever encountered. They ruined a silk doupioni blouse of mine, putting a hole in it in 2 places. They tried to worm out of it by claiming that the blouse was old to begin with. When I came to them with the original receipt and demanded that they reimburse me, the owner wouldn't do anything. When I let her know that I would sue her, she wouldn't let me take back my OWN BLOUSE. I can to near blows with her, as I had to physically wrestle my blouse on its hanger away from her, so that I would have the evidence for the lawsuit. When I finally got my blouse back in my own hands, she gave me the money for it. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY BUSINESS!! read more

Was making a dress from long to a midi I measured and cut it myself. When I went to sew it my machine was messing up and since I needed it within 4-5 days, I brought it to Wallex. There was a slit in it on both sides so all that needed to be done was turn each section of the dress and inside slip up 1/2 inch and sew a straight line. When I brought it in the girl told me she didn't know how much it would be as the .tailor/?owner was not there yet and to call in an hour. I left the dress and called in an hour ( he wasn't in yet). They called me later, and I have to give them kudos for that, and let me know it would cost $30! Eek, me thinks not! read more

Do not leave there without examining your slip to make sure they have accounted for every single thing that you drop off. If you are in a hurry and don't have time to double check, then DON"T take your stuff there. I left an Armani skirt with two other items and only got the two other items back. I called the owner and she accused me of lying about dropping off the skirt, insisting that there was no way EVER that they could have made a mistake. Seriously? When I tried to explain to her that either the girl at the counter forgot to list it on the slip or they lost it, she was combative and ugly. I had turned in the slip when I picked up the order (not realizing that one thing was missing until after I got home and unwrapped the package). This place is fine until you have a problem but you should know the owner does not step up to the plate and apologize. This is the second incident I've had with them over the years. They ruined another garment and refused to take ownership of that issue too. I let it go that time but I don't think I will again. It's only a skirt and life will go on, but their attitude about it totally irked me. That is one nasty little lady who runs the shop. Don't let her diminutive size fool you. Her attitude is terrible. I go there all of the time and I guess I just expected her to have a more apologetic attitude. If they lost it, they lost it. I would have told her it was o.k....but the attitude is something I can't get beyond. read more

These people are rude. They show you the attitude they are doing favor to you. When I went to drop off clothes I pointed the price difference with decent cleaners in adjacent town where I had recently moved from this lady was not happy and retorted me saying "why did you come here and not go there?" Okay, may be I expected them to be bit more polite I guess. I had gone there to drop off my clothes on Friday and she had said I could pick them up on Tuesday. I went on Tuesday to pick up my clothes and this time it might be her employee working who was also similarly rude. First she looked at the receipt and got my two set of clothes. Before getting my third set of clothes she points her finger to me and says like I'm committing some mistake you are not supposed to pick this up today - this was scheduled for Wednesday. I looked at the receipt this time and noticed last lady had scheduled my clothes to be picked up on Wednesday but told me verbally I could pick up on Tuesday. This girl found my third set of clothes also but not before pointing her finger to me. read more
