I would not recommend having your reception here. I recently had my wedding reception at Crenshaw…read moreHall and while it was a beautiful wedding reception and everything was perfect, it was because I had a wonderful caterer, florist and other helpers separate from the owners. Like the first review said, the place was a mess. Right up until a week before there was construction all around, trash in the yard and the things the owner had promised would be in place weren't. As a bride, I'm sure you can appreciate my concern when I saw all this a week before the wedding. Additionally, the owners were not accomdating to the caterer and since then, the caterer has decided they will not longer be doing events out there. I know this is a family home full of history and they certianly have put a lot of effort towards the home; however, they need to focus on making the brides feel like they are being taken care of and that their event will be perfect. It was definitely the greatest day of my life because I married my best friend and everything looked great but it was 100% because of my wonderful team of helpers that took over and made it exactly how I pictured it would be. A bride, or anyone having an event out there, should never be scared that things are not going to look right when paying such a large sum of money.

DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE…read more My husband and I had our reception at Crenshaw Hall. The owner John was very rude to us and our families. He was very unprofessional throughout all of our interactions, not returning phone calls and trying to slide out of things that were previously agreed upon. On the day of our wedding, he tried to go back on something that was promised in our contract, causing a lot of drama for my family and other vendors. Also, their slideshow equipment would not work, which he did not seem to care about, and we were unable to show a slideshow that we spent hours working on. In the end, he denied us our deposit because of something that is untrue. Save yourself the heartache and money!

The drive wasn't bad and it was very easy to located. Parking was a breeze and there was overflow as well. We were greeted by a staff member upon entered the main building that houses ice cream, drinks, local artisan work for purchase, and hemp products. Everything was neatly labeled, the space was nicely arranged to allow for easy shopping, as well it was very clean and clutter free. We were informed that on Saturdays they had like an adult themed gathering with music, food (provided by a local food truck), and drinks. We decided to come back and check it out. So glad we did! We arrived that Saturday around 8pm. Parking again was easy. The event was put together very well - with the food truck located right beside the building. You were able to purchase your food, get something from the shop, and find a seat outside to enjoy the evening. The music was great. The people were awesome - good convo and they had UNO going for those that wanted to play. We got to meet the owner and his wife. That was a joy as we got to learn more about the farm and their vision. Overall, we are excited to adventure back for other events.

I go for the chai latte they make which is superior to Starbucks or any other coffee shop. My kids love the playground. And of course, they have goats. After noticing several religious…read moreitems in their pictures, I emailed to ask if they were open to working with queer couples and got the following in response: "This venue is located at our Christian home. We personally have gay friends but we believe their behavior is a sin. I am a sinner and I believe we should love the sinner and hate the sin. The current law allows gay couples to marry. I think gay couples should respect the beliefs of others just as they want to be respected. " Clearly, they don't want to come right out and say we are not welcome, but they made it clear. Nowhere in my initial email was I disrespectful to them, so I'm not sure whey they felt the need to point out that we needed to respect their beliefs. A simple, "We can not accommodate your request at this time," would have been fine. We were not asking them to officiate our wedding. We were asking them if they would do their jobs as business owners, take our money, host our event, and keep their personal opinions to themselves. How their religious beliefs impact their business I don't really understand. It is really too bad, because as I mentioned, this venue looks absolutely gorgeous. However after the rude and frankly condescending email back, I will be taking my business elsewhere. I suggest those who support marriage equality do not support this highly unprofessional business.

They do have some specific rules for use of the Campbell Lodge, so make sure those are okay for your event before renting. We were able to have a beautiful event without any issues with the venue! For the Campbell Lodge, make sure guests navigate to the correct address at 3237 Spottswood Street. The lodge is not accessible from the Durant Nature Preserve main entrance. There is plenty of space in the Lodge, provided tables and chairs, and a large warming kitchen, ice machine, and walk-in cooler. The check out process went smoothly! We will definitely consider renting the Campbell Lodge again for future events!
