Went to a wedding and during the vows you could hear the kitchen staff talking and laughing.

The Boiler Room has its own YELP page?! Well, it's definitely getting all my LOVE. I stop by The…read moreBoiler Room {i.e. the atrium of Full Frame Theater} whenever I'm visiting American Tobacco Campus, and believe me, one look inside, and you'd understand why. If your type is big, strong and handsome [BUILDINGS!], Full Frame Theater's Boiler Room has YOUR name all over it (him? her?). This incredible space welcomes guests entering Full Frame Theater, as well as sometimes its neighbor, The Power Plant Gallery. It's a VERY unique event venue flanked by mammoth coal-fired boilers that were used in the original building. You can admire the elevator shaft to the right of the front door, or envision the unseen inside (but very visible outside) base of the Lucky Strike smokestack which The Boiler Room "horeshoes" around. Enormous windows, concrete floors and brick walls give this space the perfect impression for any event [can I plan my next birthday party here?!] No space has ever scream contemporary meets historic so clearly! Plus, doors are open 9am-midnight, SEVEN days a week, so there truly is no reason to miss this drool-worthy space. Secret tip: it's air-conditioned and they've got tall-topped tables and chairs inside along the massive windows. This would be the perfect get-away from the office or {indoor} picnic lunch spot.

The team provided excellent customer service prior to the event, answering all our questions and working with us and our caterers to make sure the event went well. I would not recommend having your reception here. I recently had my wedding reception at Crenshaw…read moreHall and while it was a beautiful wedding reception and everything was perfect, it was because I had a wonderful caterer, florist and other helpers separate from the owners. Like the first review said, the place was a mess. Right up until a week before there was construction all around, trash in the yard and the things the owner had promised would be in place weren't. As a bride, I'm sure you can appreciate my concern when I saw all this a week before the wedding. Additionally, the owners were not accomdating to the caterer and since then, the caterer has decided they will not longer be doing events out there. I know this is a family home full of history and they certianly have put a lot of effort towards the home; however, they need to focus on making the brides feel like they are being taken care of and that their event will be perfect. It was definitely the greatest day of my life because I married my best friend and everything looked great but it was 100% because of my wonderful team of helpers that took over and made it exactly how I pictured it would be. A bride, or anyone having an event out there, should never be scared that things are not going to look right when paying such a large sum of money.

DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE…read more My husband and I had our reception at Crenshaw Hall. The owner John was very rude to us and our families. He was very unprofessional throughout all of our interactions, not returning phone calls and trying to slide out of things that were previously agreed upon. On the day of our wedding, he tried to go back on something that was promised in our contract, causing a lot of drama for my family and other vendors. Also, their slideshow equipment would not work, which he did not seem to care about, and we were unable to show a slideshow that we spent hours working on. In the end, he denied us our deposit because of something that is untrue. Save yourself the heartache and money!
