The middle of the week and just when they open is the best time to go. It gets pretty busy on the weekend and there is no shade. I give it 4 stars as they only take check or cash. Since this is the first u-pick farm I've been to in NC, I do not know if it is the norm. If I find out that it is, I will adjust my rating. I actually called the store and spoke to the store manager whose name was David just so I could tell him how pleased I was with his employee and he was just as I love going to Logan's, but just to know that I can call and ask questions and not be rushed off the phone or just told anything or given the famous "well I will check and see and the answer is they never check and see" was just totally awesome so if you guys ever need anything for your plants, as I said, I have been going there for years the customer service is superb. They had tables set up where we had tools to mix different dried herbs, spices, and got to pick fresh herbs from the garden. We learned the medicinal properties of each herb and how it can enhance specific dishes and recipes. The woman hosting the event blessed us with homemade jam and homemade lavender scones, as she just got back from Scotland. This was a memorable event and the garden is absolutely perfect. Definitely recommend volunteering and attending local events there.

Raleigh City Farm also offers great community programming, including workshops and events (they host an annual, free Bearthday event in April and annual Harvest Dinner in October).
