    Succulents

My boyfriend and I came to City Garden Design to buy some succulents, and were really impressed with the beautiful plants, friendly service, and great plant care advice that we walked away with. City Garden Design is a locally owned plant nursery/garden shop in downtown Cary that sells interior plants (air plants, succulents, cacti, etc.) and beautiful pots to compliment them. They also offer interior and exterior design services. We already had a few small pots that we wanted to fill, so we brought one in and the lady working there, who was one of the owners, was very helpful at recommending succulents to us that would be "harder to kill". She even arranged the pot for us so we could get an idea of how to repot and care for them. Overall, I highly recommend City Garden Design for any of your plant needs! I will definitely be returning for some more plants to spruce up my home.

My friend and I wandered into this shop while spending the day in downtown Cary. If you like succulents and other green things, you'll want to put it on your list. There are hundreds of plants to choose from, some already potted and others to pick up and add to your own collections. I liked the heart shaped succulent they had. Plant lovers will definitely enjoy this place, but it was too expensive for my taste.

I spent about a half hour, but could have spent more, perusing the late season plants and arrangements. Despite the cold weather, the late season plants held up really well. I saw a white potted kale plant that would be a pretty accent piece in an arrangement. I kept returning to look at it, wondering if it was meant for eating or decoration, and decided decoration. Definitely decoration. Some of the pre-potted arrangements were cute in their burlap wrapped pots. Very creative and yet very simple. The plants were well marked and prices easy to find. What I noticed right away was how reasonably priced things were. I can't believe I've never stopped here before. I've driven by it lots of times and have seen it overflowing with plants and vegetables and people and cars. Now I know why. Salem Garden can accommodate the do-it-yourself gardeners and those who prefer others to handle the garden maintenance and landscaping. There's a small house on the property holding gifts such as candles from beeswax and soy as well as bags made from recycled plastic shopping bags and some jewelry and artwork. The hours vary by season but if you see something you absolutely must have, the owners have thoughtfully left instructions on the front door on how you can get what you need. Because there are always those who take advantage, you'll have to stop by and see for yourself how they accomplish it.

I was looking for a mini cacti garden and was given many options from a mixed succulent and cacti garden to a simple potted cacti plant. They have plenty of affordable selections that you can build your own mini indoor garden for around $25 to $30. The pre-made mini pots were even more affordable from $12 to $20. Plus we noticed several employees throughout the center helping customers and answering questions. Most of the plants were labeled with the name, price, and care instructions. The center seems very organized and makes it easy to find a plant suitable for your yard/home. They even have an online map on the website. Fairview has indoor and outdoor areas. If you visit on a sunny day I recommend bringing a sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. In addition to plants, they sell gardening supplies and have a play area for kids. Per the website, they offer delivery and installation, and host events. Overall, seems like a decent garden center and I look forward to returning.

They're unorganized and messy, but man, is it fun to find a good bargain! Yes, there's more junk than useful items. However, they do carry lots of name brand items for cheap. I don't know why I buy from retailers at full price, Ollie's is where it's at!! From Yankee Candle to Olay and everything in between, you bet your bottom dollar that you're going home with something...and if you're not, you didn't spend enough time browsing. Here are just a few things I've gotten from Ollie's: a Stephen King graphic novel of The Dark Tower for less than $4, a secret Santa gift filled with journals, crayons, colored pencils, and two drawing pads (don't forget the gift bag, tissue paper, AND a card) for less than $15, Yankee candle melts for less than $2, a Yankee candle oil diffuser for less than $4, a large bag of brand-name veggie chips for less than $2, St. Ives body wash for less than $3, a Febreze car plug in for less than $1. I can go on and on. Ollie's has discounts and it's super easy to spend at least an hour here while you bargain shop. The staff here are very nice! There were two cashiers and one floor staff and they all greeted me nicely and were very friendly. Is Ollie's a disaster? Yes. Are the floors uneven and unfinished? YUP. Are you going to save money? Absolutely. It's chaotic good, my guys!
