The woman that was helping us said they hadn't started the seeds yet, but there was a volunteer near the plant about a yard tall, she pulled it out of the ground and handed it to my son-in-law and then handed him a seed head and what to do with it. Memorable is too small a word.

They also have a great sale on tulip bulbs at $1 each. We met the owner and multiple staff members and they were so nice and gracious. There is hot chocolate and hot cider to drink as you peruse the trees. The parking lot is a bit small it's about 20 cars but we went early on a Friday morning we had no issues. They also have a really awesome tent full of poinsettias and Christmas cactuses. there's also a nice wood-burning fire going on so you can smell the smells of the season.

I spent about a half hour, but could have spent more, perusing the late season plants and arrangements. Despite the cold weather, the late season plants held up really well. I saw a white potted kale plant that would be a pretty accent piece in an arrangement. I kept returning to look at it, wondering if it was meant for eating or decoration, and decided decoration. Definitely decoration. Some of the pre-potted arrangements were cute in their burlap wrapped pots. Very creative and yet very simple. The plants were well marked and prices easy to find. What I noticed right away was how reasonably priced things were. I can't believe I've never stopped here before. I've driven by it lots of times and have seen it overflowing with plants and vegetables and people and cars. Now I know why. Salem Garden can accommodate the do-it-yourself gardeners and those who prefer others to handle the garden maintenance and landscaping. There's a small house on the property holding gifts such as candles from beeswax and soy as well as bags made from recycled plastic shopping bags and some jewelry and artwork. The hours vary by season but if you see something you absolutely must have, the owners have thoughtfully left instructions on the front door on how you can get what you need. Because there are always those who take advantage, you'll have to stop by and see for yourself how they accomplish it.

They have plenty of affordable selections that you can build your own mini indoor garden for around $25 to $30. The pre-made mini pots were even more affordable from $12 to $20. Multiple staff members have ignored me while standing around talking to each other, and when I finally asked for help, they seemed annoyed and uninterested. The staff in the greenhouse, in particular, were especially unwelcoming and would not even look up to say hello or ask if I needed assistance, even when I was standing just a few feet away. I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend this nursery to anyone. I would gladly drive twice the distance to visit another nursery in the future.

This company was hit hard by the multi-year 540 Expansion which shut down Johnson Pond Rd close to them affecting access to many customers South of their location. I am a single father from Hawaii frantically trying to find a proper Flower Lei for my daughter's 5th grade graduation. I spoke with Renee and her husband at 7:30 AM Friday for a 10:30 Graduation. Renee then took it on herself to run to the dollar store to see if a miracle could be delivered and it was. Not only did a precious 11 year old have a day to remember I personally will remember the miracle that Renee helped me receive. I look forward to seeing this husband and wife business again. This was 40 minutes after all the other flowers arrived that were ordered through different companies. They had to cut through the family and guests to set up the flowers at the front. We called them 20 minutes before the service started to make sure they were still bringing them. These arrangements were not cheap either, they were about $400. They are beautiful, but expensive and did not arrive on time.

Staff are always nice but there has never been more than 2 registers open at a time and most of the time it's just one. They have a huge selection of books....all kinds including children's books. I buy for my kids here all the time. It's just hard to find if you are looking for something specific. They keep up with items from the current season which is nice. Some prices are better than other stores bur some are not. If you sign up to be a member you get emails about current items, discounts on your order and invitations to special events. You don't want to see pictures....it's not pretty but is worth the trip if you have time to look around.
